>>6342346

The first is an addon with the best headsculpt and makes the CW toy actually look half decent while still being able to combine...but it's still got the CW joints at the end of the day.

2. Is pretty much the early art meticulously captured in figure form. IT comes with a seriously impressive but extremely complicated transformation and some tolerance fragility issues with the joints and small parts.

3. Is the IDW design but in more traditional Optimus proportions focusing on making a good transforming figure. It cleans up incredibly well in the back and has the best truck mode. Just saw a review and I was impressed. Will be picking up this one since I can actually transform it in one sitting.
>>
Out of curiosity, is there any reason why none of the 3P Scramble City combiners can scramble at least their own limbs?
No way they need to save space on the torso when they are making those things roughly over voyager size.
>>
>>6342630
It's because it would have required extra engineering to make sure each limb bot could become both an arm and a leg and considering what a large investment it is to produce a figure, most 3rd party companies just weren't bold enough to try it. As far as I know, TFC Poseidon was the first to actually try it and they pulled it off really well by utilizing some cleverly disguised shared engineering and transformation schemes. I get the feeling we'll start seeing more to come after it has been proven possible and now that some of these companies have built themselves up to more stable enough positions to attempt it.
>>
>>6342630
>>6342638

It was kind of a stupid feature when the vast majority were only going to display it a certain way. As stated, it required more investment in joint engineering.

TFC's aerial bots and Defensor limbs could be whatever they wanted I thought. They looked like shit and no one really bothers to remember or care. Only Poseidon is pulling it off decently enough.
>>
>>6342646
>It was kind of a stupid feature when the vast majority were only going to display it a certain way.

This is really as much of an answer as anything else. The people buying the $600 combiners likely aren't going to be displaying it in anything other than the "correct" arrangement.

>>6343532
Isn't it the one where the legs don't actually need the cars and only use them as shinguards? I always thought that was incredibly lazy.
>>
>>6343521
I dunno, their transformations are usually less interesting than most other 3p stuff. It could be a result of the small size, but I'm not sure if they'd bother to step up the engineering if they made bigger figures.
>>
>>6343521
I have an unfounded conspiracy theory that Iron Factory and Dream Factory are secretly the same company. Aside from the name connection, something about the sculpting on DF's Bonecrusher reminds me of IF's Scorponok Ina way that's hard to articulate.

I said 3P transformations.
Most 3P companies do these clumsy, strange, cumbersome transformations that often only give the figures a lot of frail pieces that always break. HFTD was good complex, Something like Warbotron is bad complex.

I know they don't have to make these things safe but it wouldn't kill them to not make them both a chore and a horror show to transform.

They should do a lot of armada designs, but I'd prefer the decepticons first. They're a pretty small group(Megatron, Demolishor, Cyclonous, Starscream, Thrust, Sideways, Tidalwave) The whole set could be done in a year or two.

Really, I want more 3Ps to try their hand at Armada. After G1 and BW, it really should've beent he next series to get MP treatment. again, the main cast is so small, barring minicons, it's really only six or seven characters per side.
>>
>>6343778
>They should do a lot of armada designs, but I'd prefer the decepticons first.
How about doing the most reasonable thing and release one autobot and one decepticon at a time instead of whatever the fuck Takara is doing with the MP line
>>
>>6343641
Although the lack of wrist swivels is a bummer it's overall a fun little toy.

>>6343726

>>
>>6343798
Well, that too. I just would prefer something besides another Optimus from Fans Hobby first because we already have two on the pipeline from them. I think they'd do a fantastic Armada Megatron or Demolishor in their trademark chunky style, or Autobot wise, Red alert, Jetfire or Scavenger.

On the opposite end of that spectrum, you have Despotron, who takes one of the frequently most difficult, cumbersome, and shitty transformation sequences in all of Transformers toys, and does it with such elegance and simplicity it shames all of the other MP Megatron's out there.

>>
>>6343920

>Titanika
Good choice. Hampered articluation since thigns get in the way but a really solid and bulky piece. I saw ebay sellers dropping it to $60 from ching chong land when I was looking for shit to buy with the flash sale. It should still be on sale.

>Function X6 Knight
I heard it's kind of crap. If you want anything from the Function X line grab Smart Robin or Sonic Bomber.

>Contact Shot
Good choice but he is big.

>Trianix Alpha
Make sure you get the ones with the fixed torso joint. There were problems with some early copies. Otherwise the vehicles are kind of shit but the robot is cool if you like the core gimmick FP had going on. Dai Z is the better use of the mold.

>DAI Stack
It's KFC so wouldn't touch it with a 50 foot pole. Though the second runs of Stack were supposed to be much better.

There's too much to recommend if I don't get your tastes. What you listed is all over the place. But Maketoys Cross Dimensions line and some older things are easy to find and good.
>>
>>6343920
Maketoys Cross Dimension Striker Manus/Noir and Rioter Despotron.

MMC Kultur(Tarn)

These are 19cm tall, easy to transform, excellent articulation and made from high quality plastic.
>>
>>6344211
I personally started with these guys too. Maketoys and MMC all the way.

Takara Inferno is the best Takara mould right now. Their engineering and cartoon accuracy reign supreme, but while the plastic quality is adequate, they not as strong as Maketoys or MMC.
>>
>>6344204
I suppose they are all pretty varied. I'm just don't feel super interested in another optimus or megatron even if it is an amazing toy..Even a supposedly amazing Blitzwing or Ironhide feels kind of boring when it could be something kind of more out there.

Theres a ton of stores you can buy 3P stuff from. "Best" is subjective depending on the person you ask in a lot of cases. They probably printed the shipping label and that's it. Don't buy shit from TFS if you want it something quickly. I paid extra for expedited shipping once and they took a week to send it out and then shipped it via Fedex ground...which took another week to arrive. I have no idea what they are doing when both small and large sites can ship things out next day at the very least. Some do same day.

Basically, email them about it. I've had good experiences with them, and they seem pretty good about responding.

Spinout is no where near as bad as badcube fanboys like to make him out to be. They are irrationally loyal to oddly proportioned designs. He does have issues, but he fits in really well with MP Sideswipe, who's looking pretty dated these days. Its one glaring fault is fixable with a cheap piece from ebay.
>>
>>6349719
Believe it or not, the Beelzeboss kit was a hell of a lot worse than this.

It's a shame since it looked so much more IDW-accurate in photos, but in hand and execution it was absolute garbage.
>>
>>6349723
I'd have to disagree honestly. Between the oversized chest piece, three shades of yellow, awful head/neck system and ball-joint shoulders, it's really not up to masterpiece quality
>>
>>6349732
The oversized chest piece matches MP Sideswipes oversized chest piece. The three shades thing is overblown and not noticeable at all in bot mode. The shoulders do suck, but there are guides out there on how to cut them to make them just fine. The neck piece is the only thing that's a "must" fix on him for sure, but there's a guy out there who made a fix that works great and its on ebay for $16 shipped.
>>
>>6349732
>>6349748
Also, I'll admit there's another flaw that you didn't mention that I think is the only thing annoying about him after getting the neck fixed, and that's the stupid feet wheels.

>>
>>6349766
It is, but that's why people like Spinout because they fit together. If sideswipe was done right, then spinout wouldn't be defended nearly as much.
>>
>>6349766
Yeah that's definitely a common complaint. Lambor was designed in a time where they went for designs based off using the real vehicles and actually incorporating the vehicle design into the robot, rather than just folding everything up into a backpack and swapping them out for fake "perfectly proportioned" parts like they're doing now.
>>
>>6349769

>>

>>
>>6349752
>>6349755
Probably worth mentioning that Spinout's face matches MP Sideswipes face too (neiter are cartoon accurate of course). They're both lean, silver, and have a chin wedge. The new MP sideswipe is going for the smooth grey look.

It seems to me that people have two choices, if having the brothers look alike is more important to you than cartoon accuracy, get Spinout while he's on sale. If you want a more accurate character and are just going to write of sideswipe as the outdated design he is, then get Takara. Its however you want your shelf to look. There doesn't seem to be any reason to get Badcubes now.

What
>>
>>6349937

I still can't believe how bad this looks. I mean Toyworld has done shitty colors before and never have enough paint, but this is on a new level.
>>
>>6349963
I can't even figure out who the market is for this. Its not based on the cartoon or the toy. It sort of looks like an upscaled version of the Titans Return figure. Was anyone asking for that?
>>
>>6349937
It's a shame, that mold looks pretty cool
>>
>>6349755
the only thing this does better is the backpack and doors otherwise I'm not a fan of the chin and I prefer the sunsurge head design.
>>
>>6349755
Those legs look like they may not be very fun to transform, but otherwise I think the MP is the best of the MP-style Sunstreakers.
>>
>>6349807
Poseidon wont happen. Those figures actually have sold out from various retailers and needed restocking. TFsource ran out of them all back in like January and restocked the next month. BBTS has had to restock them, its a really good combiner set and will likely have a similar fate to feral rex. Sells out every year at least once due to it being good.
>>
>>6349541
You might be able to fan mode that

What are the chances for a voyager-sized version of this guy?
>>
>>6350129

Fanshobby is a newer 3P company, so who knows? Most 3P's don't get KO'd at all.
>>
>>6350129
This is basically just an improved/perfected version of my favorite toy, so I should love it...but somehow it's just kinda boring to me.
>>
>>6349807

So they're desirable, but they should mark them down for you? Makes sense.
>>
>>6350137
Well there is that new KO company thats all they do is up amd downscaled KO. I'm not talking WeiJang either
>>
just picked up my Striker Noir and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for putting together the weapons pack.

Not much a gunpla guy.
>>
>>6350187
>never heard of stores marking down desireable things to move more product

Nah, lets just keep marking down shit no one wants, maybe then it'll sell! Surely those Omnigonix's will fly right off the shelves at a mere $50 dollary doos!

I wish MP-scale wasn't so rampant these days, I'd be all over these guys at deluxe/voyager scale.

>my first KFC figure

mfw I'm happy with it
>>

But Optimal was a super which is roughly one size bigger than a leader?
>>
>>6350242
Optimal IS deluxe/voyager scale. He's just not deluxe or voyager -sized-.
>>
>>6350187
But plenty of stores other than BBTS have sales where they put things other than shelfwarmers on sale? Not to mention they don't mark shit up when it's still widely available
>other stores have Rioter Despotron for $79.99
>BBTS trying to charge the same price as Noir for Rioter Despotron when it comes with way less shit than Noir

>>6350242

Aren't these classics scaled, though?
>>
>>6348850

Of what exactly?
>>
>>6350284
Prices are like the Richter scale. So for every penny more BBTS charges than anywhere else, the waves of poverty we're seeing strike them ten times as hard. Really, at the prices poorfags want to pay, the tax break from destroying inventory is pretty competitive.

Long term, destroying inventory comes out slightly ahead because it doesn't reinforce the behavior by rewarding it.

I'd check out the gunpla guide they have in their threads. It recommends tools and stuff.

Full box set when?
>>

Full box set with God Neptune colors when?
>>
>>6350695
Any opinions to give on Prometheus or Perseus? Just eyeballing them from the BBTS sale.
>>
>>6350718

I'd like to hear some opinions on these myself. With all of these combiner sets so cheap, it might be worth picking one up.

>>6350703

I hope they do that, but honestly, I don't want God Neptune colors, I want the original colors. Just give it to me in a box set with a price break, so I can save on the set, save on shipping, and don't have 6 separate huge-ass boxes floating around my apartment.
>>
>>6350718
>Perseus
The Hercules mold is quite old and out dated, but for the time it was a great classics style Dev. Though if you are a fan of the Shattered Glass colors, I think its worth the money especially as I doubt any other Devs will get that color scheme.

>Prometheus
Solid combiner, it took a lot of liberties with the alt-modes so I can see why people would dislike the aesthetics. I will say this though, it does look really cool in person.
>>
>>6350751
The thing for me is, as a kid I only ever had Hot Spot. And I never had the concept of any other combiner than Devastator (which I didn't have anyway), so it's not like I have some huge G1 attachment to how Prometheus looks. Hydrant just looks like a like 'roided up Hot Spot is all I can really say (and I only ever picked up that 1 release during CW, not the full set).

The issue always comes down to space, but it would be my first big combiner (not including FP's Colossus upgrades) so that's why I have some interest in it.
>>
I collect CHUG scale. I'm not autistic about scale (I'd prefer Devastator to be bigger than a CW combiner, though to what degree I don't mind) but I think HasTak's Devastator is shite-. Should I try and track down Gravity Builder or should I save my money and get Hercules? GB definitely looks like a better set of figures but Hercules does look more "playable" and is infinitely more affordable (moreso than the HasTak figures ironically enough). I'm a Britbong for what little relevancy that has.
>>
>>6350783
Hercules is a bit dated and never sat well with me aesthetically.

I've owned both Green Giant and Gravity Builder. Green Giant has more playability but is smaller and also a bit dated, gravity builder just looks fucking amazing and has mostly solid bot, alt and combined modes. Transformations can be hit or miss.

How the fuck are they still around? No, really, how? Better have put out less faulty products than them and still have gone under, yet this shit company that churns out failure after failure still remains.
>>
>>6350802
another homerun, surprising nobody
>>
>Bridge Watcher on sale at TCP for 24.99
Better than paying $40 for a Legends scale
>>
>>6350901
>How the fuck are they still around?

Keith has tons of money to throw at them, the dude owns two factories. I'm assuming its enough to keep the KFC alive but not enough to actually dish out decent products.
>>
>>6350920
TFS too. May have to jump on this at this point, even though I personally would like to see him in MP-29 colors.
>>
>>6350929
Addendum, I would have like to seen a similar $10-15 cut on the Combaticons -- makes it easier to stomach a full on purchase of all 6 figures.
>>
>>6350802
To be fair, it's KFC, a company known for fragility issues.

On the other hand, it does look like he let the fingers sit folded up in what looks like a really cramped space so it's not surprising that they stressed to the point of breaking.
>>
Looking to get the Fans Toys Dinobots how good are they?
>>
>>6350942
I just personally thought that with as long as KFC has been in the business of making hands for everything under the sun that they would have figured out the quirks in them by the time they got to Phase 9.

Because they're making figures other third parties haven't gone near, like Ultra Magnus, Wreck-Gar and Blaster. Not to mention they're still making upgrade parts for official MPs, mostly hands.

This is the first 3P Onslaught I've thought looks good.
A shame about the rest of the team, the fliers look like shit and that's almost half of them.

>>6351059
What is wrong with his proportions, can somebody explain it?
>>
>>6351059
I wish the other dudes looked like this. I like robots to be more on the clean side.
>>
>>6350802
Well it is just a test shot, right? Theoretically they could still make some alterations, even though they probably won't.
>>
>>6351241
Generally test shots that are sent to reviewers are near final designs. The factories are basically ready to begin mass production and any alterations to the steel molds would be very risky and expensive since they have to start selling a product while they have the factory floor.

Plus it's KFC. I doubt they have any desire to make their toy playable.
>>
>>6350802
This was a clear case of ham hands on peaughs part. Ben and TCP didn't have and trouble with breakage on their copies.
