Will hasbro be smart and retool the skyshadow mold into thunderwing?

Think about it, the top of the original toys were the same, it was the robot that was different but they still shared alot of parts.

I do not mind buying more tank legs, and the robot section on the current tr toy is a separate section.

Why are they missing this opportunity and just giving us a diecast head, do they expect people to repaint the existing body or did they think the helmet gimmick would look strange (not that it stopped them before)?

Besides, it's not like they can't do multiple Titan Masters for a single character. The Thunderwing they put in the set is the IDW Stormbringer design, not the G1 one.

Swapping with the box set head would only work if the figure was smaller than Leader class though. Leaders have mostly been using helmetless sculpts for their Titan Masters.

Fortunately G1 means nothing to me. I just want good representations of characters present in modern media but that are also good figures. And stuff like shitty block hands and hollow parts kill the new Kup mold for me. This one is still obviously recognizable as the character and doesn't look like crap. I was even considering using the red Swerve version of the mold to make an Ironhide since we're apparently never going to get a decent one.

In G1, yes. In bayverse, apparently not.

I picked up broadside and I've been comparing him to Alpha Trion since everyone calls Broadside a retool of him. I think it's just an original mold. The only shared parts are the kickstand thing, the feet, the biceps with elbow joints, and also the flip out flat parts for the carrier/ship modes. Other than that everything is a unique mold. They share engineering for the leg transformation, but that's it as far as engineering goes. Also why is there a metal pin in the front of Broadsides waist when he has no joints there?

Funko made POP! figures for the previous movie, Age of Extinction. It's possible that they'll do another line for the new movie, but we don't know for sure. As with all the POP! toys, they're made of vinyl plastic. Not as hard as the standard plastic that Hasbro uses, but still sturdy, and they have a matte feel to the touch.

I was thinking about Ultra Magnus (I mean most people spend their mondays thinking about him of course) and I started to wonder what a bayformers UM could look like.

The traditional G1 design's car carrier is chunky as fucking hell and really not realistic at all compared to how skeletal car carriers are in real life and literally thinking the word "skeletal" gave me an idea. Imagine just a normal bayformers Optimus Prime clone, only the car carrier he's pulling transforms into some kind of exo-skeletal power armor that he'll then wear in battle.

A robot power suit on a robot would look pretty silly but just the idea of it is neat. Have they even done anything at all with UM is bayformers yet?

Not that they could do much more with him since Nimoy is dead, but I've always been unhappy that they killed him off. Mostly because they could do some seriously interesting stuff with him now that Prime has been doing exactly what he was trying to do for two movies. I get really into them then drop out of them every once in a while. There's a lot of regular sized TFs that word pretty well with them as well, if you go by Vehicle Scale. Things like some of the older combiners and Cyberjets.

My only gripe is that some of the clearances are a little tight and going from Gun to Bot mode can be challenging when you go to separate the front of the gun because of how it all pegs together.

Still, the engineering is overall excellent and I'm still shocked by how much it is able to contort and compress in order to go from one mode to the other.

This is a possibility, but if it happens, I suspect it'll actually eliminate the separating gimmick entirely.

The guys in the trailer are about a head shorter than OP, and this guy has to at least be a bit taller than Abominus, cause of the horns.

Well not the wings specifically the body of the jet that connects to that detatchable jet kibble that transforms into a gun. When you connect it to the wings, the neck of the jet and the back, it tends to get so finicky that you're forced to remove the gun kibble to make sense of it all.

It's more of the kibble connecting to the other parts that's difficult when turning into a jet.

I am currently working on a Transformers miniatures tabletop game. The rules and game mechanics are mostly in place but now I am into character specifics and team building composition. So what I need now is to produce a team of 5 Decepticons and Autobots to betatest gameplay.

When you think of a platoon of 5 of each faction who do you immediately think of? Obviously Optimus, Starscream, Megatron, Prowl... but who else?

The TR one doesn't even homage the g1 toy properly, allit carries is the most tiny generic aspects of the head, the crest, the seperate section at the top of the head and he has a face, even the g1 toy's face carries a little bit of age in the sculpt.

I think I figured out what's wrong with Takara's Kup.

In the show, he has an angular face, but for some reason Takara thought that instead of flat cheeks he has sunken in ones. That and he has a weird thing on his nose like they want it to look like he's wearing glasses.

What I will probably do is get some putty to fill the cheeks in and repaint the whole face.

In retrospect I think I will go with your idea. Currently in the game you have a leader on each team and that would be based around what your faction is. But by not making the cassettes part of Soundwave I could use it as him being able to be the leader of his own faction and have cassettes be smaller component fillers for Deception teams.

Another example would be to have Grimlock on an Autobot team. He can't be leader, but he can be on the team. However if he is placed on a Dinobot team he becomes leader and gains those traits.

To clarify a bit if anyone is interested. Your leader gives the team a moral buff. Take him out the team falters. You can have a team of Decepticons with Megatron as your leader OR you could have a team of Seekers with Starscream as your leader. So in this case I will use a team of Soundwave army, him as leader. A fun mechanic with Starscream I have worked out is if he is on your team and your leader is taken out he becomes the new leader. Suck it Megatron.

I did. And each alt mode has it's own mechanics.

For example my first prototype was my little G2 Megatron because I already have a mini figure to work with. Players take turns activating one unit. During this action you may transform once as a free action at the start or the end of the action. Unlike a lot of games running and gunning is a mechanic. So you can have Megatron run his path while making an attack against a target and then run around a corner. Or he can transform and gain more range, damage, and defense, but he is only able to move in the cardinal directions N S E W NW NE SW SE ect for a shorter distance. Or he could run and gun and transform for the defense or transform out and run... ect.

Arialbots have a soaring mechanic where they can only be attacked when near the ground after making their own attack, but if hit they transform, take extra damage, and are grounded till the next turn. They also can't soar indoors so map choice can really make or break them.

Cars gain larger movement but can't run and gun in car mode.

Beatformers gain different abilities in their altmode but I am still toying with those abilities.

The game also doesn't just focus on beating the enemy team. There are also objective points. Player who wins the initial dice roll goes first and chooses map and 2nd player then gets to choose the objective type for the map, CTF, KOTH, base destruction, ect.

Takara's still look like kid's toys, man. I've tried going down that road of Takara exclusivity but I dropped it soon as I got my first few Macross and Chogokin figures and decided my money was better spent on that. Really, completionism isn't the way to go if you want a nice display when it comes to either Takara or Hasbro. That said, Kup and Hot Rod do look great.

I actually quite liked the grey deco on Kup but I will say this is definitely an improvement.

Fucking this. I hate when people always quote the bullshit importer middle-man prices as though they are Takara's choice. Most Japanese toy sites are selling them for about 28 bucks, which is perfectly sensible considering the improved molding, better paint, and completely new Targetmaster included. Never mind the fact that the yen-dollar exchange rate is a little dumpy right now.

The only people who get mad at Takara prices are children who are poor, cucked by BBTS, and/or don't understand how international money exchange works.

I was going to buy him mostly because of the Targetmaster, but I find that even when Takara toys have weird color schemes, I still really end up enjoying them because their quality is much higher. Happened with Brainstorm, for sure.

Either way, a little robo dude who drives a truck that transforms into the body of a robot that he becomes the head of while also having a medium robot dude who turns into a gun for the big robot dude is fucking awesome. This is a level of playability in a toy that keeps me fiddling with it for years. I hope Triggerhappy comes with a Targetmaster like he should. I've been holding off on buying his Hasbro mold for this.

Unless you mean the "Takara actually paints the figure and makes it look good" part, but even then, Takara remolded the arms and face on Kup, and painted up to look like the 86 movie rather than even the series.
In all honesty, the Kup toy just isn't that great compared to what it could have been.
At least on the hasbro truck mode the colors are consistent, and the blocky nature helps the look. The takara one just clearly has shoulders sitting up top. The rounded parts really make them stand out like a sore thumb.

In the truck mode, the bicep being a different color than the shoulder and forarm, and the random allocation of that particular pale green on the hubcaps and one random square on the side just looks ugly and doesn't match any of the versions of kup, be it cartoon, comic, movie, or toy.
Basically they sacrificed all vehicle mode coloring for the robot mode coloring instead of finding a happy medium.

and at the prices Pete's asking for (though with a tshirt and movie ticket included, it's not a terrible deal) it'll be a hard sell for a first year event. His on site prices are waaaaaay too low. It sounds like it might literally be just a dealers room and one panel room.
