Toy Soldiers Thread.
Post your army
I really need to make some space for army men setup again, in the meantime here's my bagpiper army.
>>6263656
Nice, ill post some photos in a couple of hours
Feel bad that I haven't been able to set up something new yet, guess I'll bump with older stuff until I'm able.
>>6271918
Why dont you paint some camo on your soldiers?
>>6272029
A few reasons really. I don't have the patience for it, I'm not especially good at painting and I have thousands of soldiers. I painted crude camo on some of my tanks and trucks as a kid but that fell by the wayside as my armies grew.
>>6272037
>>6272040
Nice shots, what tank is that?
>>6272085
Its a Sherman,i have some shermans in different colours
>>6272144
What's the scale?
>>6272162
Im not really sure as idk anything about scales, sorry
>>6272166
No worries, looks to be about 1/72, the average scale for smaller army men. Normal army men are usually between 1/32 and 1/35, their vehicles can range from the same to 1/48 but often 1/72 as well.
>>6272176
Here are my other Sherman tanks and another tank for you to copare scales
>>6272196
So I selected the photo but it didnt post it...ok
>>6272201
Hmm my mistake, they look to be larger than 1/72, somewhere between it and the 1/48 M48 Patton on the left. Very nice little armored unit you got.
>>6271918
where can i get cheap little pershings like those?
>>6272211
Dunno about those tanks specifically, been getting them from a dollar/party store over by the mall and they're $2.50 Cdn each.
Thank you,I really like your soldiers. They are not cheap ones as mine
Also my second biggest tank. The M1 Abrams
>>6272230
Pretty sweet Abrams. Other than the oversized Bradleys my largest tank is this T-55 (or T-62, not sure), can't remember anymore where I got it from.
>>6272233
Those grey trucks are great!
>>6272265
There was a dollar store across town that used to have those trucks, they came bagged with a few soldiers. Sadly the place went out of business years ago, there was a website where I found them but they've also since shut down.
Artillery
>>6272285
Never seen a flatbed-mounted long gun, pretty cool.

>>6272348
A real shame.
>>6272369
Nice rafts!!!
>>6272425
Thanks
>>6272206
Do you know what line that kick ass tank is from?
>>6272700
It was originally a Micro Machines set, I had one as a kid but sadly it got broken and discarded a long time ago. The imitations I have now, three were found at the same dollar store those large trucks came from (>>6272270), the other two from the same website, seems the same company made both.
Had a quick look around Amazon and found this, looks like a reissue by another company as the packaging is different and the soldiers are a different color than I remember.
https://www.amazon.com/Playset-Command-Carrier-Infantry-Plastic/dp/B01D22KJIU/
Anyone know any online stores to get some tanks?
>>6273108
I found some basic tanks on amazon, nothing really original
More artillery
My biggest tank, a broken m1 abrams
The resolution of my cellphone camera sucks :^(
>>6273449
we need more rambo guns itt
>>6274214
Ill post more
have you guys ever thought about using model train buildings for scenes? o scale is about the right size for 1/32. you can find plasticville for cheap
>>6274979
i thought that but i never bought any buildings
>>6274979
I had some paper buildings I obtained through Combat Storm, they got wrecked some time ago but I can always print and assemble new ones, been meaning to.
Where can I get myself a good array of soldiers, ideally with tanks and artillery and the like?
>>6275141
Your best bet is to browse amazon or aliexpress for army men listings, like this one:

this thread is dying so early.
any body mess with medieval figures? are there any saracen figures so i can reclaim Jerusalem?
>>6276748
I have these Crusaders and Saracens, they're pretty nice.
>>6276761
When I first got them they had a fairly strong smell to them, either the plastic or paint or both, over time it's faded but still there a bit. A lot of the weapons were bent out of shape too but the hot water trick corrected them just fine.
>>6276763
>>6276776
>>6276781
Looks like it's them, yeah. I got mine here:

Not sure about ancient Far East soldiers, mostly I see Romans, Greeks, Persians etc. but there's bound to be those as well.
This guy is the main reason I bought them.
>>6271918
why is that one guy holding a gun upside down?
>>6278137
I never figured out whether that pose is for charging with a bayonet or holding a gun over water. Probably for holding his gun over water
>>6278137
The original pose has a bayonet fixed and the soldier's expression indicates he's about to stab someone in the face.
Op here,i found a cellphone with better camera resolution
>>6272334
you like candy, huh?
>>6281222
They're concession items I sell at the outdoor ice rinks I've run over the last several winters, candy bars make good chest-high walls.
>>6278748
I always thought that was meant to represent wading through water or other difficult terrain.
Some of my bigger troops
I just found this sidecar... Anyone knows anything about the motorcycle? Theres also a missing piece...
>>6281204
that's a cool idea for a pic anon
>>6281405
It can work for that too, there's a Japanese soldier pose that's even more so (at the far right).
>>6272206
that tank
I only had one set that was kinda good, but not as detailed as that
>>6272233
medieval soldiers have a fucking dinosaur
not fair
>>6273620

Those pesky meddlers.
Do how are the Timmee army guys? I know they're a little pricey but I really want a complete set of matching factions and they seem like the best looking/most colors. Really want me some pink soldiers.
>>6285325
Timmee soldiers are one of the pillars of army men, their classic Vietnam War poses have been copied, cloned and modified countless times and will continue to fight little plastic wars for centuries to come.
>>6286021
So they're one of the best then in terms of plastic quality, eh? I just want some sturdy bastards, ya know.
Tbh I just really want some blue soldiers that actually match my green and tan. I grew up with the 3DO Army Men games and the blues were always my favorite. And again, the pink ones look absurd and now I'm wanting them too.
>>6286101
So I just ordered myself the standard green+tan, blue+black, and the pink. I didn't even realize until yesterday that there was a cyan+brown set, so I'm holding off to get that with the red+gray. I'm excited to have a rainbow of soldiers swarming my desk now.
>>6289244
Good stuff anon, we will be expecting pics of course.
>>6289244
Well, the bule and black arrived. I didn't get to take picks but the. Blue troops have these little bubbles on their skin scattered all throughout their bodies. Like little air bubbles. It's really puzzling because the black ones look perfect.
>>6295748
Can we see them?
bump
>>6314101
>Tans working with greens.
I guess the enemy of my enemy thinking applies?
