I like MP Tracks, my only serious issue is the complete lack of clearance for the back/side panels to tab into place when mirrors are attached. When I got him I just glued them on straight out of the box because why the hell not, but no when I transformed him the first time I found out the hard way that there's no room for the mirrors on his back transformation, which is stupid as fuck.

Other than that he's pretty alright. I think the backpack could have been done better and the head always seems too far forward and not held in place very well in robot mode, but other than that I think he's fine.

The fact that official versions of Tracks and Roadrage are still available for well below MSRP (Loudpedal is still kind of expensive sadly) basically anywhere kind of eases a lot of uncertainty when buying the mold, in my opinion.

And fuck yeah the alt mode is majestic.

What are the odds of a MP-36 release in different colors? I'm hoping for maybe something more toy accurate because I dislike the cartoon style of him, and would really like to see a bit edited, like red on the inside of the legs for example. Are my chances good or should I just jump on this?

I think it's very safe to expect shittons of versions over the coming years.

I know it won't happen this century, but if Hasbro ever did a release of MP36 I kind of wonder what they'd do to him to get him on TRU's shelves. They'd definitely do what they did with that legends gunmegs and mold him entirely out of blaze orange plastic, and leave the gun barrel completely unpainted. They'd probably leave some other areas deliberately unpainted as well to really nail that "this isn't a real gun" aesthetic.

I always find it funny how they keep releasing TR leaders, and they keep making the TM faces not work well with their intended figure, but work much better with any other leader.

Just got Sixshot, and Revolver looks so much better on Blaster, and Soundwave. On Sixshot, the helmet bit that covers the forehead sits too low so it almost goes over his eyes.

Just picked up the Chaos on Velocitron boxset and it's a solid set, the highlights being Quickswitch and Nautica (her shoulder props are easily unplugged). Laser Prime is fun but his chest stickers are look lumpy but that'll be resolved with some repro labels. Fastclash is adorable and should get a regular release. The biggest let down is the Rodimus Prime head, the metal body impedes the movement of the titan master head. I'm going to try sanding the inside of the neck connection to see if that helps. Also it's a pain in the ass to pop the plastic head from the metal body so be careful on where you're applying pressure as you take the head off.

They're kind of fun to apply but I hate the pre-applied stickers from the last few releases, I usually just peal them off as I'd rather not look at a shiny Decepticon logo next to some squiggle lines. Between Laser Prime and Quickswitch there's 15 stickers and the only one that are off are on Prime's chest.

The only complaints are:

-Torso swivel has these bumps that will deform the plastic for the pelvis, and it's recommended you trim them down, or cut them off.
-The leg tabs on the legs don't close securely, they come undone in arm mode very easily.
-The head is loose, so it falls out easily (not from the ball joint, from that panel thing).

I assume the head, and leg issue is fixed since Strafe didn't have them.

What the legs do on mp-10 is fine, what toyworld's one does is in no way cartoon accurate.

I still personally would think the best way to capture an mp is the best of both worlds, despite the supposed lack of detail mp-36 still had the inner leg details making a toy redeco a possibility.

If takara wanted to be lazy they could do a mp03=mp11 retool job and just make a new lower half, flatter crotch that actually transforms, simpler leg detailings, perhaps a new head.

Because the truck is fine and upper half is perfection since it carries near around the same detailing as megatron's legs, so even not painting the yellow markings on prime's arms would work well

Seems shallow enough on this one for it to turn freely.

One issue I have with the set so far is the paint rubbing off this pair of 5mm ports that hold the back-cannons.

Baldigus is definitely tight all round. Shuttler seems mostly fixed compared to Blastoff. Hepter(or whatever the US names are) is using the fixed HFG port. Dolrailer has those modified hip-locks Megatronia uses.

I think the possible problems you may encounter are paint issues. Mine has a small blemish on the chestplate, see if you can spot it.

Which is a problem when you look at mp10, stylized, mechanical, recognizable but not trying to be a cartoon character but a damn fine representation of him.

While megatron is trying too hard to BE like the cartoon, therefore stands out from previous mp's that came before.

Granted the shift from "stylized robot" to "cartoon wannabe" started from mp shockwave, with a hint of what was to come from mp ultra magnus (which is a dead ringer for his cartoon self save buttlflap).

Frankly my biggest problem with this is a growing need for a new mp optimus just so he better matches which is unnecessary, I'm fine with megs only because he doesn't look like 12 days on the drawing board

And personally this is my growing problem with the masterpiece line. I don't want a cartoon in 3D, I want realistic representations of the robots the cartoon was depicting. OP is great. Sideswipe, Prowl, Wheeljack are all great. But like Inferno and Grapple? Not my cup of tea. Megs walks the line a little bit and if they release him in silver instead of flat grey I would probably bite. As is, though, he simply doesn't appeal to me. But good for the people who want cartoon accuracy.

Anyway, that's what third party is for, guess.

MP-10 is obviously not trying to be cartoon accurate, the body proportions are different and the head isn't trying to look exactly like the show, something that MP-36 does. It's just an idealized version of the design.

Other than the antenna being chubbier because SD proportions, the D-Style Convoy head is way more accurate to the G1 cartoon than the MP-10 one, pic related.

I believe the main factor is the designer, Hasui wasn't going for 100% animation accuracy but rather a damn good take that would interest fans of the show and toy collectors with a typical chogokin like take.

I'm certain Kobayashi (or whoever took on mp magnus, Ironhide etc) took up megatron, Hasui gave us options, Kobayashi gave us character in the toys.

While I'm a faggot for mp10 he looks like a soulless robot, even the mp cars with faces look devoid of life, while newer mp's have a more true to cartoon look, even shockwave pulls this off despite a lack of face.

Nobody is saying that it's trying to be accurate to other sources. MP-10 takes cues from the cartoon, but it's also it's own take on the G1 Optimus Prime design.

You know there can be different idealizations of a single design, right? It all depends of the designer. The MP-01 was an idealization too back then and it's pretty different from MP-10 proportion-wise.


If the MP-10 is so cartoon accurate as you say, why do you think it looks weird compared to MP-36 Megatron? It's obviously because Megatron is cartoonized as fuck and MP-10 is not. It has more detail and a different style overall. If you can't see something so obvious there's nothing I can do.


I like the MP-10, but saying it tries to look like the cartoon and nothing more it's ridiculous. Even more so when you compare it with more recent Masterpieces like Inferno, Megatron or the Beast Wars guys that are cartoon-accurate as fuck.

Better proportions, like thinner legs (mainly getting rid of those boxes covering the wheels), shorter arms, make the lower arms less thick. Maybe make the chest windows bigger and more heroic looking. Hide the crotchplate in truck mode, and make the rear of the truck not so thick. Better articulation to. See, this design, being based heavily on CW megs, would work if it wasn't for the fact that his shins come out of fucking nowhere.
The main problem with tank megs, and ALL tank megs toys have had it, is that the tank needs to be wide, but that gives megs some really wonky proportions.
G2 tank megs had shins as wide as his shoulders and a chest bigger than dolly parton's. Every single conventional tank megatron since (we're not counting armada) has had the chest problem with the exception of 4
CW and TR megs, who both skipped leg day, Titanium megs, whos tank mode is TERRIBLE, and the thrilling 30 legion sized megs who is sadly the most well proportioned megatron tank toy we may have ever gotten, at a tremendous cost to the tank mode.

The bludgeon remold into megs doesn't count, but honestly, it might give us our best direction.

If they stopped trying to make the turret into his arms, they'd have a LOT easier time making him more well proportioned. The original megs could have his back canon swivel and fire from the hip. Seems like a perfect use of a turret. Have his back made from the turret and his chest and limbs made from the base of the tank.

the issue is that Jazz wasn't just "a porsche" he was THE porsche.
The 1976 Porsche 935 racing edition that was built so well that the races had to change the rules to keep Porsche from stomping all the competition.
It would win like, 35% of the time (which is insanely high)
All of Jazz' decals are for specifically the number 4 racer.
Cartoon accuracy would avoid a lot of the issues with the decals (as it had to be changed simply for animation purposes) but the car still was 100% identifiable as the 935.
The key would be having to alter the grill and the spoiler, at which point (especially with a cartoon deco) it's going to look more like an alternator than a masterpiece, leading to the question of "is it even worth it"
