Why was the last Castle series so awful like holy shit? I'm a sucker for Castle sets but the last one was so bad that it's impossible for me to even try defend it. Nearly no new pieces or concepts, just a recolor of the 2012 sets while being dumbed down to the max.

At least The Hobbit sets had some ok stuff but c'mon is it necessary to screw over the main Castle line that much? Does it sell terribly?

What are japanese space beetles? Is it a games workshop or a car thing?

>>6254565
I have a small street, but mostly build cars and rooms. Houses are really fun, but take up a lot of space. I now hardly ever use existing full minifigures. I already have a set bunch of favourite figures that populate my stuff. The only exceptions are a selection of every cmf wave, they often come with neat parts and novelty outfits.

>>6254597
Oh nice man, looking forward to see the physical thing. Such a wacky theme, i can understand how people dislike the set but i often don't get the hate. It was like a proto ninjago/nexo mashup theme mixed with juniors. While the sets were certainly odd designs, they definately communicated the potential fun of Lego to kids. I just have a time twisters spooky "train" that moves all kinds of stuff when you roll it i got for "sinterklaas" when i was little. Dusty and ugly, but still a warm place in my heart

Thanks man. Someone in these threads posted one of the pizza shop facades from one of the city sets, I was on speed at the time, 2 days later and that was my creation. I kind of have an issue where, if im on some kind of pill (speed or pain killers) and I see an idea trigger in these threads, I just start adding more and more details to shit. My cyberpunk prefab was another one like that. I also have a tendency to add weird little "story sections" to builds like this (pic related, a meeting of KEKists behind my prefab. Golden frog offers his subjects the ring or the apple.)
>>
>>6254743

I don't even drink coffee but sometimes the manic autism concentration kicks in unexpectedly.

>>6254761
Thanks!
Do you mean for display or pictures? It can be a bit "cramped" to take pictures that are completely filled with lego unless you have an enormous setup. I didn't really do this with mine, but planning an easy to take apart and move around system like the modulars will probably make the illusion of being there more convincing while making it more space-efficient. (like being able to take a shot-reverseshot from both sides of the street, but removing one side for regular display)
One day to make all the walls of my roomdioramas connect via technic pins for example, so you can break whatever 4th wall you want to take a picture.
Ofcourse you can just slide loose walls next to eachother and line them up (i did that last minute with the rather plain wall behind Mr. Cleanly) but I'm a stickler for stability.

In a way, I'm glad my initial experiences (this and others) have turned out very disappointing. At least I'm not in danger of getting addicted to it.
>>
>>6254851
Have you used bricklink before? The fact that you mentioned USD makes me think you are american and struggling with the admittedly challenging interface. I really doubt these parts aren't sold in the usa.
If you're not familiar with it i'd look up some tutorials. Getting specific pieces like this can be incredibly cheap and cost-effective if you're building custom stuff. But you are right it can be very addicting. But it is also very fun.

I haven't used Bricklink before. I've tried and failed utterly.

The first time, I had the idea of trying to build a Super Sentai team (red, black, blue, yellow, green) using plain-colored (or as close as possible) torsos, legs, hands and race car helmets, and white arms and hips and black visors.

I couldn't figure out how to search for those items specifically: I kept getting either the entire catalog (of arms, torsos, whatever) or nothing at all.

I didn't want to just show up in the thread and ask someone to do my shopping for me or ask to be spoonfed the process for doing the search, but the informational stuff I could find came in overwhealming (for me) masses of information, so I just gave up and bought sets of Ninjago "rangers" instead.

>>
>>6254850
oh. is it a single tube that makes up both arms? I assumed it was two pieces that connect to the torso like regular arms.

I haven't seen it in hand, so I could be mistaken.
>>

It's a rubber hose that's capped on each end with a straightened Minifigure arm and hand. It's like the Man-Bat minifigure arms, just long and bendy.

Okay, so, could somebody help me?

I want to build a Super Sentai team using red, black, blue, yellow, green plain-colored (or as close as possible) torsos, legs, hands and race car helmets, and white arms and hips and black visors.

Could somebody either link me the parts or (better) tell me the exact process I'd use to find and buy them? Preferably from sellers in the US with low minimum buys.

Thanks in advance.

I was more iffy about the payment process, myself. Every store can be a little different and really not a huge fan of Paypal. I can almost understand people wanting to pay more for figures from Amazon. Direct pay and if you can get it Prime the free expedited shipping can even sometimes make up for price differences. Sometimes.

I prefer to buy direct from Lego.com whenever possible, and for a lot of items that's perfectly doable with Bricks and Pieces, but I price check between it and bricklink. You might be surprised how much certain parts sell cheaper on bricklink than to get them right from Lego. Or maybe not! At any rate the payment IS more straightforward and in my experience Lego has kickass customer service.

It's just a good idea to remember you have options.

I think this is where I'm falling down: I can't locate specific parts to put in my want list because I don't know what they're called.

The gist of it is this:
-you make an account with your information
-then you make a wanted list
-you can use the catalog to search for pretty much every piece ever created and wich colours it comes in
-on the page of whatever part you want click "add to wanted list" (you can then choose the amount you need if you want. You can also choose the colour you want, but make sure it exists since you can manually put a piece in your wanted list in a colour even if it doesn't exist in that colour)
-once you have a wanted list with all the pieces you need you can “search by wantedlist”
-it’ll search all the people that sell pieces on bricklink, and show you what people have the pieces in your wantedlist
-These are all different people and stores mind you. Always read their terms and splash page to see if they have a minimum buy or how they calculate prices, how they ship stuff and what payment options they use etc.
-the addicting part is you can also browse whatever it is that seller has in store.
>you're paying for shipping anyway right?
>5 hours and 40 bucks worth of hats later...
-once you have have your cart full you finish up payment and shipping options
-your bricklink account has a "orders" page where you can see all your orders and what the seller is doing right now (pending, processing, packed, shipped) Eventually they will send an invoice, only then do you pay for it.
-Once you've paid, you go back the orders page and click the "paid" box so the seller can check and send your crack
-????
-POVERTY
-but also AWESOME KLOCKI

>>6254914
I understand.
The way i did it is like this anon said >>6254917

If you remember what set it came in, look up the set and browse through its "inventory" to see all the pieces it came with.
But if i were you i'd also just take a time to look at all the parts subcategories in the catalog.
Just click on them and give them a quick scroll to sort of get the logic of the taxonomy.

I'm not sure this is a good idea anon, it will look like thong underwear or a diaper

but anyway, example of searching for helmet visors in black:

>on main page search for 'visor'
>click on 'part' tab
>scroll down to what you want, it's listed as Minifig, Visor Standard
>then you're at this page: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=2447&name=Minifig,%20Visor%20Standard&category=%5BMinifig,%20Headgear%20Accessory%5D#T=C
>click on the black entry at top of list
>seller location: N.America, minimum qty. 5, click search

or you could start building wanted list with that item.

You've got a point there. Hmmm. Maybe same torso and hips with white arms and legs?

I'm starting to think the whole torso and legs should just be one color. But I don't want them to just look like space suits.

The thing that's really confounding me now is what made me ragequit last time: The torsos.

If I just search for red torsos, it comes up with some torsos that are molded in red, but a lot of ones that may or may not have some red in the printing. Why would it have a blue suit front torso in my search? What am I doing wrong?

You don't want a "red torso"
You want a "Torso plain" in the red colour.
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=1710#T=C
Same with arms.
>>
>>6254951
I think you're being a bit too picky on how deep you want BrickLink to filter for you. If you type "red torso" in the search, and go to the "Parts" tab, the majority of the results are going to be red plastic, with various prints. The first 10 results contain Red torso/arms/hands, Red torso/arms+yellow/white/black hands. I'm not sure what trouble you're having.
>>
>>6254951
go to catalog
then color guid
click the number under the "parts" vertical axis
then minifig torso assembly

then you only get the pieces in that exact colour of whatever category of parts

if you just search "red" it'll look for any part that has the word red in them

Now I guess I should ask: Any accessories you'd add to make these guys more Rangery? Guns? Swords? I was thinking of trying to get some of those neck add-ons that add a stud on their back. Not sure what I'd do with it, though. Also thinking about trying to get some of that thin fabric and making them scarves like some Super Sentai have had in the past. Maybe that could be the other white element in their outfits.

The majority of my lego collection comes from a 44gal trash can full that I bought from the parents of a literal autist.

I'm currently going through the figs and such from it, and the number of torsos missing one or both arms makes me almost wish I didn't get it for next to nothing.

Almost.

They are Maxifig hands from the old 1970s Homemaker-style sets. Only available in yellow (most common), red (uncommon), and light gray (fairly not common).

There are two subtypes, one with round holes (can't fit bars) and one with hexagon holes (can fit bars).

The towball is the same size as a Mixel towball.

>My guess is that by this point they already buried the molds to make them.
Probably this. A lot of parts that are "stable" haven't been made in decades because they literally buried the molds. At some point the Homemaker line ended, TLG didn't see the point in continuing to pay maintenance costs on a mold they didn't plan on using again, so that was the end of it.

You are absolutely right that they're very useful with Mixel stuff, but now that the new 2L bar with towball exists, they aren't quite as special.

They're still really nice for their ability to form a 1-stud connection with a towball, though.

I'm recently coming out of a dark age. Clearing out my collection of Transformers and other robots.

I've got a bunch of sets I'm looking forward to putting together, but I already know I'll be running out of space as new sets come in.

I figure I'll rotate them out by disassembling and rebagging sets for storage and then either putting them back together once in a while or sorting the pieces all out for MOCs.
>>
>>6256246
>I'm recently coming out of a dark age.
Ah ok. I never had a dark age, so I've amassed a lot over the years. My entire room is basically lego all across the walls. I've taken a part a lot of stuff though, and bagged it as you've mentioned. Really helps with space and it means I can clean the parts easily if they're caked in dust.
>>
>>6256238
Same problem. I've got sets I've yet to build due to space. I think I've got room for one or two more CMF series in the case.

On the upside, at least the only Summer set I want to buy is the Scarecrow set. Hopefully the Ninjago Movie line will be lame.
>>
>>6256249
I'm worried about that, actually. How DO you clean dusty Lego stuff?
>>
>>6256255

Canned air, or good 'ol water. Obviously don't use the latter on pieces with stickers.
>>
>>6256255
I dust it, and keep some of my stuff in glass cases (slowly fazing out my old shelves for glass ones).
Recently I took apart three of my modular sets, I plan on cleaning them because the dust was basically stuck to the plastic.
>>6256256

I moved the outermost claws to the middle clip so could angle the arms all the way down, and I later put the arms on mixel joints. I kinda also want to replace those tailpipes with legs that would fold down so that I could have it stand up, but I haven't figured something out with the head yet.

There are a lot of non lego posters in these threads, and these threads go crazy fast sometimes. If all nonlego stuff was consistently in one thread it might be a lot more lively in the pbbg and both of them at nice pacing. Some leeway is fine ofcourse, if someone uses legit lego in his megablox build in the pbbg who cares, if someone uses brickarms in his lego build, well, he might be a faggot but i'll let it slide.
Did g00k actually ever do anything for this board?

>>
>>6256486
>/lg/ is slow right now but most of the past month we were having a new thread a day
That's because of the TLBM movie. We had the same kind of surge (only bigger and longer) when The Lele Movie came out. Most of the easily-excitable short-attention-span posters who came here just because LEGO LEGO LEGO!!! have mostly either calmed down or found something else to hyperventilate about.

>>
>>6256508
And a bigger one when The Lego Ninjago Movie comes out at the end of the summer.
>>
>>6256509
I kinda doubt that.
The first big Lego movie about lego in general i understood the appeal and novelty for basically everybody
The lego batman movie because batmans and extra novelty because of popcultcred.
I really doubt a lot of people who aren't kids or diehard Lego spergs will give a shit about Ninjago.
>>
>>6256509
i am unironically excited for the ninjago movie sets. i was 2poor for the lego movie sets at the time and the lego batman sets are kinda uninspired IMHO.

Ninjago has always been a guilty pleasure for me... Like yeah its kiddie as fuck but there's some really interesting builds and ideas in it. Salvaged M.E.C is one of my favourites of current gen.
>>
>>6256519
Ninjago is legos biggest IP -ever-. Lego making a Ninjago movies is definitely a gamble since it doesn't ride on its general brand like movie 1 or another more established IP like batman, but no matter what it WILL sell. Kids fucking LOVE ninjago. I have friends who work at the lego store near me and like a solid 60% of product moved is ninjago related.

>>
>>6256528
I highly recommend Salved M.E.C and The Green NRG Dragon. They're both high value for money imho. I got them for like $40 each, and they're definitely better than similarly priced Batman sets because lego doesn't have to jew away profits to DC.
>>
>>6256528
Oh yeah i kinda meant both.
Both movie popularity for different age-ranges and the size of influx of non legospergs checking out lg. Kids will go bananas no doubt about it, but i think the influx to /lg/ will no be anywhere near the amount let's say a "the Lego classic space or starwars" movie would do.

I think i only ever go two ninjago sets as gifts of the first line and don't really care about it that much. But i admit they explored some really neat ideas and had some rad builds (the gook castle was beautiful some excellent vehicles)
The only thing stopping me from buying the sets is i know i'll never use the minifigures and the heavy reliance on colours like pearl-gold.
Still hype for the movie though. Solely for the type of animation and cool builds. But the choreography of the batman movie was unexpectedly fun too plus some occasional jokes that makes me chuckle.

Every store like walmart or target near you would never go to for legos. A lot of sets are open and there is a lot of theft of lego. Clearance isles are packed with lego sets that have been opened.
>>
>>6256553
Yeah, all the Batman CMF bags were torn open and dumped all over the shelves and floors, but there were five or six Raid Zeppelins along with a bunch of other specific Lego sets from the same time period. Seems like it was genuine product moving and not just retaping sets with missing figs.
>>
>>6256553

I just bought the ghost rider set and instantly want to take it apart.
Vehicle shit sucks when you realize you can make better ones yourself, or at least, ones that are more in scale and such. Though I also bought it 99% for the ghost rider fig and now that I play with it I can use the hobgoblin parts for some fantasy stuff im planning
It is a nifty street corner though, I actually applied the stickers to the newspaper stands because I never use those container pieces anyway
>>
>>6256574
i'm already messing with the bike to actually make the fucking nose wheel turn with the handlebars lol

mostly got it for a decently priced spidey/ghost rider... disappointed that the ghost rider hair isn't a detachable hair piece.

i applied the stickers too but then again i apply stickers in 99% of situations. if i want a blank version i'll just bricklink it.

Which Lego sets are considered rubbish to build? Been buying some stuff recently and want to know what to avoid
>>
>>6257340
Many SW/Super hero license sets are subpar to bad. Beyond that it's what you are looking for. Most creator sets make solid models. The newest Nexo Knights have good play value but many dislike the grey villains and what not due to how wash out they look.
>>
>>6256524

>>
>>6257361
Well it seems to be hurtling towards a similar 10 year mark
>>
>>6257340
It all depends on what you want to build, as far as rubbish goes, only the licensed sets get really crap. Everything else is groovy enough.
>>
>>6257361

>>
>>6257366
I don't think it's fair to compare the two as far as number of sets. Bionicle was mostly action figures, and put out a TON of them, whereas Ninjago you don't get much of the extra fluff that you get with even Nexo Knights? No blind bags or multiple single-character sets per character. All the Ninjago stuff is at least relatively substantial.

so, learn and improve by modifying the fuck out of those sets; a lot of the OMG SO AMAZING builders start that way.

Like, buy or just get the instructions for pic related; add engines, add guns, build a new back section, add greebles until it's more unique build than original set

>>
>>6257651
I can agree with that. Vehicles are all well and good, I suppose (not really sold on some of their vehicles), but at some point you want more than just vehicles to smash together. Where's the hamlet to protect complete with hams? Hey, might even be a nice way to get that goat again like anons were talking about a little while ago. They don't even give you any citizens of Knighton to protect! Not even a single damsel in distress!
