Should I bite the bullet and pay 160 dollars for this?

Brickmania related
>>
>>6243425
Do they not sell instructions? I can't imagine bricklinking it would bring it to that high
>>
>>6243427
It comes with some of their third-party parts, looks like.
>>
>>6243425
Don't do it.

Brickmania's sets are overpriced and terrible quality, imo.

You're better off MOC'ing your own, or finding some instructions for a T-34/76 online somewhere else. Better yet, buy a Cobi Small Army T-34. Much bigger, and the quality of the plastic is just as good as Lego.
>>
>>6243425

Not many of those parts look third party at all, honestly. Other than the fig parts and the treads (or its just a tread I havent seen), but you could use a different tread and a different fig and it would still look fine.

hahaha holy shit no, it looks decent but 160 is obscene

Build your own. the challenge is half the fun. If you really really must toss money at somebody, track down some decent MOC and offer to pay for instructions.

some time ago some anon here posted a very decent T-34 made in LDD, maybe he's still around.

1) what should I put in the red circled area? it has a LOT of height and the GOTG are there just temporarily
2) what empire vehicle should I put on the shelf above the rebels
>>
>>6243545
The difference in height between the red and blue pieces is due to a plate under the black technic pieces, and no plate under the gray technic piece, so that wouldn't be illegal.

Are you trying to make a circle? Or an oval? because the half-stud gap between the gray and black technic pieces looks to be because you're not using a workable spacing between the 45 degree pieces.

I don't have any success hanging lego, the only time I tried was WAY too heavy (the 787 dreamliner) but if you try it, I'd suggest the following:
Thin fishing line. Even small stuff should be fine for small models.
Loop it under the model, don't try to dangle it from the top.
Be happy if it isn't perfectly level.
Use plates on the underside of the model to clamp the line in place (kind of illegal)

Based on the Lego Dimensions gateway (pic related) what you're doing wrong is having the diagonals be wider than the axes that are along each stud direction. Just make them all the same distance apart, or try spreading them a different way.

>>

I suppose. It's pretty annoying though. There's still a shit-load of vehicles from the movies they haven't given the UCS treatment and they're already going back and re-doing the ones they've already done. The faclon and xwing I can understand re-releasing. They're iconic as fuck. But who the fuck was begging for a re-release of the Snowspeeder or death-star playset? No one, that's who. Like, really, you're gonna do the snowspeeder a second time even though you still haven't done the AT-AT yet? Who's making these terrible decisions?
>>
>>6243779
>death-star playset?
To be completely fair, the figs of the old one were REALLY out of date compared to new stuff. Some of which even had their molds be retired and replaced with more accurate stuff.

Was it worth it to completely rerelease it? Fuck no. But it's understandable.

Have a bricklink question...
I got that shark-Jawblade from hero factory in a very big bricklink order with tiny details. He came in separated package and everything looked great except this.

That area has bitemarks. It looks like a child tried to chew these connectors (axels?) off. BOTH of these pieces have exact same bitemarks and very loose now. If you put them in character's hands they will be kinda wobbly and probably will completely break someday.

Should i post a negative review or not? I kinda dont want... that order was so big and helpful/full of stuff i needed.

Getting 2 unique pieces that damaged this way sucks though...

You already have a Corner Deli? If so, get the Notorious Lowrider. The Movie sets are sure to be more popular than the Creator set, which means they'll disappear faster. The Joker is easily one of the best characters in the film, making the set more desirable than the Tail-Gator.
>>
>>6243878
>>6243888
This anon raises some pretty fair points. The Lowrider is the more fun option of the three, but locally they seem plentiful. On the other hand, combined Delis would be really cool. To me, the Tail-Gator boils down to that cool Killer Croc bigfig, and not much else.

I'm never worried about availability in this age of online shopping with crazy fast shipping
That being said, in an ironic turn of fate, I went to my usual places intent on getting a deli and none of them had it.
They had lowriders but I'm just going to get that at the lego store because might as well get points if I'm paying full price. And of course I decide this right after double VIP points (and the store doesn't even open until noon on Sunday so now I'm just sitting here waiting and lusting over sweet sweet plastic crack)
>>

Going to my first real Lego store in about 90 minutes. I'm out on business and looked up the nearest store and it's close by! The nearest one to where I live is 1/4 day drive so I've never been. I usually buy shop@home, eBay, brick link, Craigslist finds etc. I know they have the wall that you can fill cups with Lego for a set price. Anything else I should be looking out for there? Tips???

It's not that I have an unlimited budget but cash isn't an issue really. I'm not into the Star Wars sets or stuff like that. I'm looking at building some good MOCs to go along with the creator modulars I already own.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Will follow up with how it goes. :-)
>>
>>6243979

Which LEGO store?
>>
>>6243979
Be sure to look for Build a Minifig stations. They sometimes have cool parts. Other than that, maybe check to see if they have anything on sale or clearance. I once asked about K boxes and got one for $20. You just don't know.
>>
>>6243980
Boston store. Why??
>>
>>6243981

>>
>>6243983

No reason. The nearest one to me is the one at the Mall of America in Minnesota. Just figured in the off-chance it was that one, I'd tell you a little bit about it.

Its a lot of fun going into one. First few times going in are glorious.
>>
>>6243985
The thing they use to fill the pick a brick wall sections. It's a small-ish box of one piece. I believe they sell them for $100 normally. It is up to the manager if they want to sell them though.
>>
>>6243966
I needed to finish up laundry anyway
also sorry for just blogging

>>6243979
They usually don't have anything you wouldn't find in another store, but they sometimes have good clearances and some cool stuff. But it is like being a kid in a candy store
Also the pick a brick wall is cool, but not a great value unless you fill the cup with hundreds of small pieces.
And there are also build a minifig stations that are three figs and an accessory for each for $10, and they sometimes have cool parts in there
>>
>>6243987
So it's all the same piece in one box and not that large of a box? Do u get to chose the part?? Not sure I follow.

It's all one color and the same part. It's not tiny, just small. If they are selling them you get to pick the part and whatever. They do only have so many different parts in stock. Here's my picture.

That is so worth the $20! But why would a manager sell the boxes they use to fill the wall containers when they sell cups for $15??

Ahh got it. They keep rotating the different parts they put in the wall. These would be boxes that are coming off the rotation? Do I ask a manager and call the K boxes and offer him $20? Sorry, I'm new to the store experience.

>Do I ask a manager and call the K boxes and offer him $20?
I mean you could. I'd just ask about K boxes or maybe even just call it "those boxes you fill the pick a brick wall with". Just get the general info. They'll tell you if they can sell them or if they have any deals. You're probably better off buying a few cups so you can get a few different parts and colors. Just don't let your wife's son touch anything and you'll be fine.
>>
>>6244029
>K boxes
K boxes aren't really part of the typical "store experience" IMO. If you're using the candy store analogy, it's like randomly getting an entire box of candy bars for the price of just a few. Sure, it's possible. But not likely.

The coolest thing about lego stores for me is that they always have oversized builds, and little dioramas that aren't from any set. They're just unique things to look at. There's also some cute merch that you don't see too often, stationary and ice trays and whatnot. It's like walking into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but less edible.
>>
>>6244040
Thanks man. Much appreciated! Pretty stoked just to be going. I WILL not walk out of there empty handed. And my kids grown and gone. So no one's touching these but me! The GF actually supports my habit saying there's far worse things one could be addicted to.

The Halloween Fly is the best.
It works great both as a normal monster and an alien.
Both the molded head and claw are fantastic and the print it's extremely detailed! (well.. for a fly at least)
It just can't be topped.

Considering more "usual" minifigs, I'd go with the female boxer or the blue-haird cyborg.

PART THREE

HANG ON WHILE I DIG UP THE LIGHTING TUTORIAL I WROTE FOR SOME OTHER ANON
>>
>>6244502

This is what my Legoverse looks like from outside time and space. I shoot really high skies, wide vistas, and other angles that make using a real lightbox impractical, so I turned my room into one. Those two pole lights each have three bulbs on them, regular CFL bulbs on the top two spots and UV blacklight CFL bulbs on the bottom ones. I got the lights at Walmart for $20 each. If you can't get your hands on stand-up lights, the main thing to making your pictures look good is understanding bounce lighting.

TO BE CONTINUED in next post
>>
>>6244505

Here's the way the lights are positioned when I'm shooting something. Those paper circles attached to the lights are homemade baffles. They block the light from shining through from the lampshades, and are extremely important since I couldn't find more appropriate lights that already had opaque black shades. The point is, you need to make sure that you can control the direction that light is being emitted from, as I will elaborate on in the next post.
>>
>>6244506

In this picture, the red arrows are the hard, direct light that's going directly out of the lightbulbs. Thanks to the positions of the lights and the baffles, most of the direct light is aimed away from the table. It hits the walls, the ceiling, and all the other crap in the room and turns into a softer, more ambient light, represented here by all the yellow dicks aimed down at the table.
>>
File: balanced try it.jpg (162KB, 800x1200px) Image search: [Google]
balanced try it.jpg
162KB, 800x1200px
>>6244508

In this comparison you can see the difference between aiming a light source directly at the set (top) or using bounce light (bottom). With a direct light source, you get a lot more reflections off the surface of the pieces, and it looks more like a toy. Creating ambient light makes it seem more "real" and immersive.

The last time I posted this, someone pointed out that the bounce lighting was causing a yellow tint because the walls of my Lego room are not white. That was fixed in Photoshop afterwards with a simple click of the Auto Color tool.
>>
>>6244510

This is especially noticeable on minifigs, when a direct light can cause vertical bands of white light across the face that blots out the printing.

Here's the same shot with and without direct light.
>>
File: prop art.jpg (87KB, 800x600px) Image search: [Google]
prop art.jpg
87KB, 800x600px
>>6244512

However, direct light can be used when you want to simulate the sun at a very low angle, as long as you have enough bounce light coming in from elsewhere.

Happy to take questions and I hope that helps!

Yes. But I only own Elves sets and I'm gonna have to dig through my box and dig the pieces back out, because when I finish a set, I dismantle it and put it in my big ol' bin for future play. And that is cool, we don't seem to have store meetings and my manager just throws all our old sets in the recycle bin and sends them back... I'm constantly rescuing things from the box before shipment.

It would have to be the Series 13 Goblin. That devious smile is just so charming, and there's something very appealing about his color combination. That he comes with an exclusive first use of the Green Goblin cap is the cherry on top.

If you came to my store and did that I'd say to call the customer service line, but then again, we don't sell anything if it looks like it's been opened.

Wallyworld on the other hand, I'm pretty sure you could take a dump in the lego box and say it was there when you bought it and I don't think they'd doubt you.
>>
>>6244762
You'd have to make such a mess of the box to get all the minifigs out that it would be noticed and probably taken to claims and therefore never be sold. But Customer Service bends over backwards for customers and gives them refunds for stupid bullshit all the time(just got a banged up kylo's shuttle back taped up with dirty ass tape and missing one bag while the other bags numbers are off)

I'm jealous that people have Lego stores to visit period. There's none in my country, and should I want to visit one, I have to take a trip of 300km to capital, from which I have to take a overnight ferry to Sweden, and even then I have to locate the actual store.

So how about it, guys? I've only ever shoplifted maybe four CMFs in my life. Anyone have good tips for ripping off bigger sets?

Stories about returning boxes with half the bricks taken out? Or opening boxes in store and making off with the bags and instructions?

I'm sure guys who work at Lego stores must have tons of stories about walking off with merch. So let's hear 'em!

>>
>>6244832

>>
>>6244832
Obviously I don't support shoplifting LEGO. During the holidays we literally had someone walk out with a Mindstorms set, but that's because we were horribly understaffed. I also wasn't there for that. I'm usually really good at preventing loss. The trick is just to make sure you're keeping in touch with everyone.. It's not just good customer service, it's the first and last line of defense against theft.

Anyway, just don't be a dick. I really warn against stealing from actual LBR stores, because we don't get reimbursed for the product and every set stolen is a cut to our hours. Plus most if not all LBR employees I know are really nice people who love their jobs.

Like I said, do whatever to Wally World. If I had a nickel for every "I can get this cheaper at Walmart" customer...

There's only so much I can keep my smile on as you're telling me that. What do they really expect me to say? "Good for you?"

Also, literally the only thing I take from my store is the occasional giveaway item, provided we have enough, and my bagfuls of playbrick that we never use. Which I show to my employer.

I like my job too much to jeopardize it. I just wish I got more hours.

... Oh, but I did snag those Darth Revans. I dunno, that's not really theft. They're not inventoried.

Call me a goody two-shoes but I don't think I've ever stolen something from a workplace. I have, however, snuck patches and jewelry from Hot Topics and shit. I haven't paid for any of the patches that I'm putting on my vest.

For Walmarts all it requires are a decent sized coat and knowing camera blindspots. Now I've never even attempted a REALLY big set, but I managed to get out recently with an Ecto-1 set since the boxes are thin and fuck financially supporting that movie, even in Lego form.
>>

How do?
>>
>>6244887
I'm a huge fan, but not a collector. Growing up, I was poor as fuck and only had two LEGO sets... The 25th anniversary bin with the silver brick, and the Planetary Prowler. Now that I'm older and it's my money, I treat myself every so often, but it's rare. I think I'm only really good at my job because I learn fast and I take note of things that other people don't - I can see things the way a kid would see them, so I can find the parts of a set that kids would think is cool, and I can ask the right questions to get them thinking creatively.

>>6244888
The way I see it, she thinks kids are cute but she connects more with the parents, and she only approaches the store from a business standpoint. That's all.

I mean, I connect with the parents too, but more in either a "here are the benefits to your child" mode or an "embrace your suppressed inner child again" mode.

Anyway, I gotta get to bed, I'll try and reply to any other questions tomorrow.

Obviously don't do this WHILE you plan on stealing stuff, because that makes it suspicious as fuck. But my local Walmart has been around since 2004 so I had a lot of time to survey and keep an eye on the cameras and where they are looking. Sporting goods area (minus the guns of course) are pretty shockingly and easy area to hide stuff in. Grocery areas too. My Walmart has bathrooms near the electronics/layaway area. You really just have to know your store.

It also helps actually shopping and buying stuff. Grab something from a toy section and walk around with it and then it eventually disappears and you walk out ten minutes later it going to be noticed. Grab some tampons, body lotion, a Lego set, a DVD, a frozen pizza, a case of water, mixed nuts and a Blu-Ray of Oscar Winner Suicide Squad and when you get to the selfcheckout no one is probably going to notice you are hiding a couple catwoman sets in your coat.

Posted this before; I once gave a seller neutral feedback because:

1. I only ordered from his store because he had a semi-hard-to-find minifig head listed. After he shipped the order, I found out it was a different head and he had mislabeled it. He said he had the correct head and would send it, but the second head I got was also not the right one. No refunds offered.

2. I also ordered three torsos. Two of them were cracked along the sides so legs just fall out and don't clutch at all.

3. Some other pieces I ordered were packed full of Play-Doh or some other mystery substance that took about an hour total with a toothpick to clean out.

I gave him neutral feedback with the text "Wrong pieces, cracked pieces, dirty pieces; at least the shipping was fast." He gave me neutral feedback (despite me paying within 30 minutes of being invoiced) and blacklisted me from his store.

I got a few of them, mostly using them as costumed kids around halloween since I set up a little holiday display each year.

This one I bought solely because it looks like Wonder Woman is about to be clubbed by a giant turd.

I always thought his armor looked a little over-designed, but that's just my opinion. That shield, however, is maximum bitchin'.

I kinda wanted that one with baby Thanos for the Infinity Mobile. Haven't seen it since I discovered it though.

Oh well! They're all pretty fun, seems like. I got the baby Spidey and Green Goblin. The expression on Spidey's face is great. That's the great thing about the Mighty Micros: The faces!

First impressions:
- Don't try to make it minifig scale.
- Scale it so that the H20 tank on the back is a 2x2 round brick. (1x1 if you want it scale it down)
- Above suggestion would make the top section's back panel 6 wide, front panel 4 wide.
- Build the arms like any other mech.
- Make the feet 6x6 stud circles (or, 4x4 if you want to down-scale it)

That's all I got from a short look.

Afraid the real story isn't quite as interesting.

Spoopy Girl was a very popular CMF from that wave, and it seemed like a lot of anons in the /lg/ weren't able to find any because her hair was too easy to feel for and they were all disappearing.

I live in a relatively uninhabited part of the world, so the closest Target to me (about 60 miles away) dutifully orders each CMF wave, but only I and a few other people actually buy them. Because of this, they tend to stick around long after disappearing everywhere else.

I picked up four or five Spookies one day because I thought it would be fun to give them away in the /lg/, but then the next time I went back to Target they had just cracked open a fresh box, so I grabbed a couple more because they were so easy to feel for. That just started to be a thing where I'd check for Spoops and pick up one every time I was there and added them to the giveaway pile. Sometimes I would feel bad about taking them, so I would check to make sure there were at least two others before I took one. I also helped a kid who wanted one by showing him that you could feel for the rubber hairpiece. That was cool.

They just finally got rid of the last of their S14 Halloween wave a couple months ago. It's just piles and piles of S16 now.

Oddly enough, a lot of Minnesota Targets seem to be crammed with Disneyfigs. Maybe that rumor about a second production run of that wave was true.

It was at Assembly Square in Sommerville. Did my research after the fact and found out that they are a Lego Experience Store so they can charge whatever they want for stuff. My first and last time I'll go to that store. I did venture South to Braintree and it was $15.99 each for the 2 big cups I got. I got a lot of different stuff at this store. Staff was super helpful! So 3 cups on my excursion. Learned a real lot like how the stores all get certain pieces but then individual stores get certain special parts.

I forgot to ask... How often do they change out the bricks to different kinds? Thanks for everyone's input today!
>>
>>6245966
It was $12.99 for a big cup at the Mall of America store in December. They seem to change their bricks every few months.

I want this goat so bad. Is there any other sites (other than bricklink) where I can buy lego pieces?
>>
>>6246157
Other places? Sure. Amazon but that's generally marked up. Sometimes Prime shipping makes it worth it, but not often. You can also buy direct from Lego, though sadly looks like most of the animals are Out of Stock at the moment. Weird, the chicken's were available a few weeks ago.

The goat is just going to be expensive no matter what since it was only in one set, an expensive set, and it's retired.
