How much comes from Trigger Happy, and how much comes from Brainstorm (aside from the obvious Titan Master and guns), if someone decides to make their own custom of him?

Reposting here, BBTS has the W3 voyagers, and leader, in case you haven't found them yet.

Triggerhappy 17, Brainstorm 30-ish, the guns are the same molded into Brainstorm nose, you'll have to cut them.

Man you gotta be Loki levels of desperate to buy anything from those ridiculous scalping fucktards.

>but muh customer service
Yeah, I could afford to give away replacement pieces to figures left and right too if I were charging everyone 1/3 more than retail and exploiting the ever loving daylights out of every exclusive I could get my hands on.
>bonus: they later sell the broken/incomplete figures on ebay
>>
>>6214267
Kind of? TRU is the only one selling the voyagers at 25, but their stock has been awful for months, and Leaders either take forever to arrive, or are horribly overpriced (currently sitting at $54). And that's before taxes.

The voyagers are at retail, and while I have to pay $15 shipping, and sixshot is 2-3 dollars over retail, it's still cheaper than locally.

I'd rather get it from Entertaiment Earth, but their shipment tends to run out very quickly, and they never have everything I want in stock to qualify for the free shipping. HTS either never gets stock, or it runs out too quickly.

It sucks, but they are my only alternative.

Has there ever been a tf that you really wanted to like but couldn't stand because of one glaring issue you had with it? I really want to hear the most autistic nitpicks you have.

I think Universe Dinobot is a really great toy but I always hated the spinning panel on the dino head. It puts a bigass hole in his chest and it really should have just been a Maximal logo with no switching gimmick.
>>
Man, getting Cheetors head to tab into the chest in robot form is fucking impossible.

yikes never realized how garbage his transformation was. toy folks are going to have a fun time trying to figure this one out

>>
>>6214437
Blaster and Soundwave are 38 dollars on walmart.com
just buy them and have them ship to your store
Hell, they still have leader skywarp for 27 bucks if you want him.
As long as you're buying from walmart, not the online stores they list, the prices are pretty good.
>>
>>6214382

Not all of them are awful like this though. Dinobot has to be the one they took the biggest liberties with. They wanted a sleek skinny raptor and a big bulky robot. I think most of the other season one maximals look pretty good. Some of the preds look ok, some not.

Black Arachnia is pretty bad, season 1 and season 3 forms. She does a lot of morphing and squash and stretch. The perverted animators apparently had no issue putting in the extra work on here body though.

The transmetals were done beautifully.
>>
>>6214433

They probably couldn't justify it at the cost of a voyager. Takara will likely do it, if they get around to releasing more TR molds.
>>

Neither of those are too bad. Besides the size changing they both just have parts fly in out of nowhere to attach and complete the altmodes. No worse than Optimus Prime's trailer.

More likely he was written as a big bulky robot and the writers weren't aware of how the toy looked or worked..

That apparently was the case with Quickstrike, they didn't know his tail/gun was his arm and had written him using a gun.

you mean, aside from how they share as much engineering design in common as ultra magnus and ginrai?

on a side note, ginrai's feet would be so much better if that damn hinge he stands on was instead a ball joint, allowin you to flip the blue shin around to become a foot, and you had a part to stow down there to fill the legs so it s less obvious.

Dead End and Chromedome share similar engineering and transformations, but the molds are completely different. Ginrai/PMOP uses a part runner or two directly from Ultra Magnus's mold.

If Chromedome counts as a "remold" of Dead End, then Energon Starscream is a remold of G2 Smokescreen and Cybertron Hardtop is a remold of Energon Sledge. But they aren't, because there's no molding is actually being reused between any of those toys.

He's clearly Blitzwing, but they didn't do anything to really Megatron him outside the face plate and chest. His long-ass unmoving torso also looks like crap and his stickers are peeling right out of the package, especially the wing ones.I also don't like how his arms look in motion, but that's again due to the torso making them look dinky. >>6215008
>Not him, but the figures are gonna be available in mass retail eventually
Not really. In even in some parts of the US, distribution is shit. Usually when a new line comes out, I'll see most of the first wave, but not much after that. The few pegs at my local retail that have anything on them are still leftover Scourges and Blurrs. I never saw anything of Wave 2 except for a single Chromedome. I'm not obsessive, but I tend to stop by a couple of retail stores once a week on my way home from work. Either distribution is the absolute worst, or scalpers are more rampant than ever.
>>

Besides, the fact that they tried to make Getaway out of Chromedome is proof that they don't really care how much a toy resembles another. They're both cars, so fuck it. Repaint away.

>>
>>6215155
His shoulder pods are a little annoying for articulation and he's a little bit short, but he's ok. His wolf mode is pretty good though, they should repaint him for a mechanized WolfFang for BW homage.
>>
>>6215164
Ah, so hasbro's is toy accurate then.

As for his eyes only the reissue had chrome stickers for eyes, the original was translucent
>>

Although I might wait until Takara gets around to them. Their shit almost always looks better. I don't care what people say about "THE SAME FACTORY" meme.
>>
>>6215174
Takara's tends to look better because of a few obvious factors
>anime accurate deco so we better associate with the character
>richer colors pop more visually
>silver accents help things like wheels pop
>occasional retooling to help the character in looks

Same factories, different results
>>

>>
>>6215176
>anime accurate deco so we better associate with the character
But I never saw Headmasters, and I definitely prefer LG Brainstorm and Hardhead to the Hasbro versions.
>richer colors
Definitely this. While the Hasbro version of Hardhead has more painted details, the richer green and beige on Takara makes all the sculpting pop out way more. Takara's plastic just seems nicer, too. Not nearly as swirly or bland-looking. Their transparent plastic for cockpits and windshields is always clearer, too.
>silver accents
This just boils down to them having more paint in general, usually. That can be good or bad on some figures. LG Wheelie, for example, looks awkward because the sculpt was clearly not designed with those colors in mind
>occasional retooling
I suppose this helps, but I've never owned a figure that got retooled by Takara

So ultimately, yeah. Same factory, but it doesn't matter because they're clearly using better materials.
>>
>>6215174

I am not saying I am elitist and don't are about the toys, what I meant was, the lines I care about, are not being restocked, at all. I am like 2 waves down on TF and 4 behind on ML and I don't even know how many for Star Wars now.

Don't fucking lie. Unless you're okay with a toy having a face made out of sandpaper, nothing on shapeways is "decent".

Shapeways is best used for joint mods and brackets, but even the best finish options look too much like crap for anything that's going to be plainly visible.

There is actually a clip on there for putting his cannon on the side, but yeah for anything that needs to look good shapeways is not worth using.

It wouldn't be bad if people on there would design their models as such so that you could sand down and smooth out the outer surface, but people who are way into 3D printing seem to not care about that disgusting 3D printer finish.

>>
>>6215375
Fakebusker83 / Ariel Lemon (I was close on the name) is probably one of the better shapeways artists for TF stuff.

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/arielscustoms

I remember someone else posting on TFW that in the acrylics the "steps" show up way more in photos than in hand (unpainted, that is). I don't have any first hand experience, but it definitely looks like a step up from Strong Flexible Polished and is much stronger than the Frosted Ultra Detail.
>>
>>6215351
Depends on the material. Strong and Flexible is sandpapery yeah, but Frosted Ultra/Extreme Detail are fairly smooth and Black High-Def Acrylate is close to injection molding detail levels (though not strength sadly).
>>
>>6215371

>>
>>6215460
Oh I agree, the giant helmet over his TR head looks super dumb. I just think the material looks better than other shapeways stuff. Not perfect, mind you, but an improvement.
>>
>>6215460
It looks so weird, I can't believe so many people keep pushing it so hard, the other artist's stuff is good but that helmet makes him look like a He-man cartoon dungeon troll.
>>
>>6215460
Honestly, You don't even need to make an entirely new head
Just a new face plate
if it wasn't for the fact that the face plate doesn't sit flush against the mask, it wouldn't look so fucking awkward.
Basically the faceplate's chin and wide jaw is making it not fit.
>>
>>6215351
Why people aren't primarily using shapeways as step one in a mold making process is beyond me.
>3d print galvatron head via shapeways
>sand it down smooth
>use it to create a mold, selecting a mold making material designed to smooth out imperfections
>use that mold to make countless cheap, smooth pieces out of resin

It's not hard. Even easier if you have your own 3d printer.

I've done casting like this a few times its pretty common in cosplay.

I see why people recommend him (or the Prime versions) as a solo figure, he articulates well (although I find his elbows a little awkward), has a nice imposing form and the transformation is solid. Plus it's really easy to use the Menasor head in place of his regular head for extra fun.

At least they replenished the TMs, snagged Shuffler and Repugnus the other day. Repugnus is okay, but the leg piece is super loose and barely stands. Shuffler is at least ten kinds of fun.

I know it is a pretty silly complaint. Still, I think people may have wanted a more contemporary and sleek looking Dino, rather than the dopey and outdated upright Dino posture.

terrorsaur wasn't as bad as he appears at first
you can tell the crest of the toy came from his beast mode crest sticking up
the only real issue is the wings, which wouldn't be too difficult if they collapsed in like cyclonus.
Almost impossible for a standard toy, but very doable for masterpiece.
>>
>>6215735
>RID Warriors are 5 cents more expensive than TR Deluxes

That seems like a mistake.
>>
>>6214348
In general, I can't get myself to own more than one version of a mold unless it's a really extensive remold. I got back into transformers because of the engineering on ROTF after all.
Also, I fucking hate it when knees are too high on the legs, AOE Galvatron was decent for the bullshit design the toy designers had to work with and only needed a paintwash to bring out the details in the scult but the knees where too high and nullified all knee articulation.

As for a TF in particular, it would be HFTD Tomahawk and TR Chromedome. The first for being a barely functionaly clusterfuck of a figure, the second because I just don't care for the character and the arms are too stumpy and blocky.

>>

Cheap as it is, my idea for a generation Terrorsaur thats more show accurate would've involved his arm wings being partsformed from the tips of his wings, which would fold into his back. The tips would double as daggers, to avoid breaking the "illusions" of it being partsforming, but there'd be a peg hold on the biceps to put them onto.

Same, this almost ruined Devastator for me. His legs have really weird proportions and I find it awkward to pose him more dynamically because of it.

>>
>>6214963
Well now, let's see
>body is basically a brick
>arms fold up in back, legs fold completely under
>wheels stick out
Honestly, your best bet would be a reverse blurr without his nosecone shield. So the "front" of the car mode is now his back, and vice versa.
Attach wheels to his legs and back.
Or just go nuts and go for twinferno with all his animal parts stripped out and replaced with car parts.
>>
>>6215996
>>6215937
I think a potentially controversial solution to a hypotheical MP Terrosaur's wings would be to just make the wing membrane out of a cloth that could be rolled up and stuffed away for his robot mode. Making them out of hard plastic would just cripple the articulation and be too difficult to repurpose or hide for robot mode.

A very tough cloth. With like 20 spares. And well sealed edges to keep it from fraying.
>>
Is it too late to talk about MP Cheeto?

Like godamn he retains almost every quirk of his original transformation without actually having his original transformation. I get the sense the mp design guys like not working on licensed vehicles for a change.
>>
>>6216020
>Is it too late to talk about MP Cheeto?

Bitch fucking nobody has him except lucky japs and youtube shills who get sent early shipments

If anything it's too damn early
>>
>>6215996
the idea of wingtips doubling as daggers is pretty nice, I like it.
Another option would be connecting his robot arms to the wings. In beast mode they'd lock together but in robot mode the wings would detach from the body, and collapse onto the arms.
It would cause some slightly awkward proportions though.
>>
>>6215996
Also engineer him like Universe Sideswipe/Sunstreaker and make him reversible so they can do Swoop too.
>>
>>6216023
>youtube shills
I fucking hate those guys. I'd say especially Peaugh for not only getting everything early but also breaking it but watching him destroy every figure he touches on camera is pretty endearing.

>>
>>6216023

My bad anon.

He's pretty fucking sweet the only gripe is his plastic whiskers bend up against the cat head in robot mode so I question the longevity on them.
>>
>>6216018
Hm, you wouldn't go the cloth route, you would probably just go the plastic route.
The idea that his wings would roll up is one thing, and then you'd have to fold up the wings.

Honestly, the most difficult one would be Airrazor.
The toy relied on folding literally half the beast mode up onto the back, and the robot mode in the show just SHRUNK the wings so they'd be tiny.
>>
>>6216045
Worst case scenario, find a toothbrush with clear bristles and use as replacement whiskers, should they fall out.
>>
>>6216045

Oh also the back cat feet only rotate up and down and his robot thighs can't rotate outward due to his transformation but it's fairly nitpicky.

>>6216049

They look in there pretty good at least but the default face on mine already had them pointed upwards out of the box. Haven't tried using the hair dryer yet but they might be resettable.

Calling it now, the repaint is going to have a set of every eye color variant along with the mutant head.
>>
>>6216063
>his robot thighs can't rotate outward

I mean they rotate to match the shin position, not in any kind of hindering way.
>>
An MP Rattrap probably has me the most curious, just wondering how they could improve on the generations transformation.

Because the generations toy is seriously perfect, all they could do (aside from the usual more articulation) really would be to cover the beast mode's tummy and hide the tail somehow
>>
>>6216020
>I get the sense the mp design guys like not working on licensed vehicles for a change.

Keep in mind a lot of those designers started in the Beast era(and I count as car robots as "Beast era, contradictory as that sounds. But its aesthetically similar), so going back to it and redoing earlier stuff might seem pretty nice.
>>
>>6216075
>Because the generations toy is seriously perfect,

People thought that about Generations Wheeljack, too. Hell, even the announcement of MP Sideswipe drew suspicions.
>>
>>6216075
>Because the generations toy is seriously perfect

As far as show accuracy goes, not really. The Generations figures are reimaginations, but the Masterpiece would be as close as possible to the show model. For starters, in the show Rattrap had the four beast legs on his backpack.
>>
>>6216099

I have faith they could pull it off. To cover the belly it would only take another panel or two but it'd all have to fit into an MP Bumblebee sized package.

I just want a Tarantulas that can properly do a monty burns pose.
>>
>>6216116
I'd want him, Blackarachnia, Megatron, but then it's kinda eh for S1 Preds. Waspinator would be ok but I don't really want to buy a $70-100 version of a joke.

From what I've heard from others:
Paint chips super easily
Shoulder armor doesn't cover the white/red robot bicep completely without mods

My own opinions:
robot to monkey transformation in the head is clunky
pre-order metal mace is useless and should've been plastic like the new megatron's flail
>>
>>6216630
>robot to monkey transformation in the head is clunky

This was very unfortunate to be honest, they really should have made the clearances a bit better. Fortunately for me I love mine in Gorilla mode since he is mostly in that form in the show anyways so I just keep him at that mode in my display.

>>
>>6216842
Says the person who's seen those designs over and over again for 10 years and probably owns more than a few toys. I can't stand the movie aesthetic, so to someone like me who has only seen them in passing that picture looks like a pile of scrap with 5 heads and some legs sticking out. I just spent a minute staring at it and I keep thinking part of Megatron is clipping through Ironhide's midsection, but it's probably Blackout's leg.
