The early ones were pretty good and on par with the originals.

Then they turned to fucking shit. Bumblebee was the shittiest 30 bucks I've ever spend. Brittle, paint issues, less crisp detailing, and a bunch of QC issues like an upside down faction symbol. Spike was even worse. When I got the official later for 40 I threw it into the fucking trash and didn't regret a thing. Did keep the gun though for dual wielding Bumblebee.

By that logic, you must hate almost every Transformer toy since none of them can ever accurately realize the source material's texture qualities. No toy will capture the soft colors of the G1 cartoon, the gloss of the beast era shows, or the metal shitstorms of the Movie eras.

Really, the only toys that truly capture the quality of their sources are from Energon and Cybertron. If material accuracy is what you want in a toy, then you're shit out luck with this line.

From what I've seen, you can pull a combined jet mode, but it does not look like the original due to the way it comes with the tank now, the legs are fully stretched out, and the tank is upside down relative to the jet.

The official combination has the jet on top of the tank. I don't like it, but it's the closest thing to a merger.

By movie 3 it was eplained that the concept artists where given a lot more leeway and allowed to basically design things as they wanted rather than follow a set of guidelines. The early designs where very measured and calculated to function as realistically as possible. AoE is sort of the natural endpoint for that sort of design.

That's not how I read that scene at all.

First of all, I'm not sure how "on top" of the fight you can claim Optimus was, since he took both an energy blade and sharp chunk of debris to the abdomen. while the worst Megatron got was tossed around and punched a couple times. Sure, Megatron was pretty banged up in his close-up, but at least he didn't have a large, gaping hole throwing sparks out of his side.

As for executing Megatron, I don't think Prime was mocking his pleas for mercy so much as expressing genuine incredulity at them. He clearly didn't completely believe Megatron, since he kept aiming at him the entire time, but he didn't seem like he was eager to pull the trigger, either.

that's just me, I always saw G1 Prime as a John Wayne kind of guy, had a code but did what needed to be done. That may actually be my problem with Bay Prime, he sounded like and talked like G1 Prime but he acted like a crazy person, I thought this was brought to a better balance in AoE when he talks and acts more like someone who's just done with the whole damn thing, war has left him just a little unhinged and it's harder for him to see friend from foe.
Either way i think it speaks to the writing of "Some silly show to sell toys" when it can be seen in such different lights.
