There are several techniques for pretty much perfect spheres at all different sizes, but most of them are very studded. If what i think what you're going for judging by your pic you might be very limited to some prefab pieces instead of brickbuilt. Google around for the lego starwars planet canisters or whatever they're called or the trans-clear ball pieces from that jurrasic world movie set.

The left guy is the Pif i was talking about. The one on the right like all other figures i built (that are not official lego characters), has no name.
He's an ace pilot with a turbulent past.

I once thougth about naming my characters and thought about calling him Ace. But that would just be corny and stupid so i just abandoned naming them all together. I don't really know why, but naming my peoples is really tough. I have all their characters and quips and quirks very vividly in my mind, but a good name is hard to find.

You monster. How could you not name them?
And on that subject, is anyone else sick of Lego coming out with named characters? I mean, I can ignore them well enough, but the faces end up getting samey if you get too many sets from a single line.

Does Lego not make Octan things anymore? I've been coming up with an idea for maybe doing a stop motion movie and I needed Octan stuff.
>>
>>6181295
Yes they do. There were several different flavours of racecars that donned octan themed liveries and logos.
There's also a pretty neat gas-station set that should be out by now. Even has an electric car charging point and wheelarches and coffeemugs.

diesel or steam?

i tried numerous ways to make a cylindrical shape for a boiler but the shape of the fenders doesn't permit it. also the supercharger cowls under the sideviews make more sense for a diesel, my headcannon has 3 detroit diesel 8v71s.

the steamer is the personal vehicle of my Brunel minifig though... so it's my favorite

also can't use it's old name of Duesengatti from when it was just a coupe.

It's your lego universe. If he's the only person named ace, then it's totally unique and not corny. Or embrace the corny and claim he's from a long line of Aces. Lego sometimes gives their characters amazingly goofy names. It's supposed to be fun! Name them whatever.

>I don't really know why, but naming my peoples is really tough. I have all their characters and quips and quirks very vividly in my mind, but a good name is hard to find.
Alternatively, don't impose your choice of name on your characters. Just flip through a name book until you find one that "fits".

They need to do a proper taco piece for a taco truck set. The hot dog bun MIGHT be a decent substitute in the meantime, but I don't have one to test.

Same with really thousands of other ways to die and each year you get older is another year closer to death.

Nah. They're a waste of a perfectly good slope piece, being printed with a dress pattern, and there's a cheapness from the lack of minifig legs.

I'm in the middle considering the alternative would be a cheap cloth around lego legs that would age awful.

i do hate them. They also make torso very unstable - its so damn easy to disconnect torso from dress-piece.
And yeah - minifig is unable to "sit" or do other things.

I think they could be better, but I don't hate them as much as other people.
I think ideally they should have the normal leg plugs for the dress, and slimmed down slightly so arms can go past them. Cloth dresses wouldn't work, and I always think the skirt pieces they do in cloth look bad. Making a dress with bendable legs would look shit too. So really they don't bother me too much.

Probably not, first Windu was released a year after the switch to fleshies iirc and the random black guys in the old Spiderman sets used another weird shade of brown. Also Lando was released in a set with yellow minifigs in 2003. It might've been some NBA or Ferrari licensing agreement since these sets were the first with various flesh-colored figs, mixed with standard yellow ones.

There's presumably a Harley truck set we have yet to see, it was shown in one of the kiddie books or something, that might have another villain or two in it.

Also some old leak which revealed most of the Batman CMF had Clock King and a Batman in black CMF spartan helmet implying these will actually get made too.

We're missing less than 10 villains (Strange, CK, Gentleman Ghost, skeleton guy from Batman Beyond, Condiment King, Crazy Quilt, that's it iirc) but bear in mind we never got some minifigs from the TLM so it's not guaranteed every villain from TLBM will get one.

Dirty phoneposting heretic here. Built this mech while working from home and finally got some pics now that im back in my cubical. Shitty 'lightbox' and camera, and obviously not 100% lego, but (most of) the parts have a lego equivalent.

Not sure if there's a method to cure the headpiece with a protective coating, but i'd just be very carefull about changing out his helmet. Maybe someone else here or on google knows something about it (i know loose arms and probably legs can be made tighter again by using Pledge or something like that and scratched transparent pieces can be made shiny and more transparent by using a different coating)
The helmet of the aquazone figs slides across the face quite a lot when you remove it and put it back on, so either just let it stay on, push the helmet/armour toward his front to minimize friction with his face or maybe give him a smaller headpiece alltogether if you're cool with that. Most headpieces that have printing across the curved tops start to have wear-lines because of the helmets and hairpieces sitting on top of them.
Personally i have less trouble changing out torsos and legs because the "soul" of a minifig is mostly in the headpiece, unless the torso and legs have very specific wear-patterns that i like or have good memories from.

I'm not really interested in 'playing' with anything (not that there's anything g wrong with that!) other than building it and maybe displaying it in some capacity, but I do think minifigures are cool, so something with those would be nice.

My favorite current set is the First Order Transporter, but that's just me. It's also a decent one to modify once you start getting more parts, for the sake of making it longer.

31050 Corner Deli is the most charming set of the past few years. Everyone who has one loves it. It retails for $40 but it's showing up for $30 now that it's close to retirement.

Part of the reason I want it is because, around two years ago, I made this outfit and car in GTAV and didn't even initially realize that it was basically Black Mask, then the Arctic Roller set was released, and it looks a lot like this car.
>>
>>6183106
You could bricklink it. It's going for about $9-10 right now. It's expensive but I don't know how you are financially. Also like what the other anon pointed out, you can buy a bootleg of it for cheaper than Bruce Wayne
>>
>>6183089
If you like minifigures and like Kylo Ren a lot check out set 75139. From your post i got the feeling you might be more interested in a small diorama style build mostly fixated on licensed characters and this fits the bill. Not sure if it's in stores still, but it has him and notyoda and eddie murphy and bacon. He also came in the first order transporter set, but that is is quite expensive and honestly not such a great rendition of the ship (wings don't fold out, grey instead of black/red).
>>
>>6183111
Ah shit I think I remember you posting this on some sub, I don't remember which one. I really want a fig like him cause 1, Black Mask is a great character, 2, OP design and 3, I want to make a full rogues gallery

Only the $500+ sets. You'll probably be able to pick up a Corner Deli on the aftermarket for less than $80 a decade from now, but it's a fantastic set and you should definitely get one. The Creator line on a whole is pretty great, but Corner Deli is the best of the small sets.

As a Millennial with kinda sorta helicopter parents, allow me to tell you just how wrong you are. I own several of those, all bought with my parents' money. Millennials are 20-30 and having kids or making careers (or trying to in this economy that was fucked up by the Boomers), so they're not really the target demographic for Lego. You're thinking of the next generation.

The fact that pg-13 movies about superheroes beating the crap out of each other and throwing people into wind turbines are standard children's movie and merch machines now should be more of an issue than lego having more intense expressions. Lego has always been very tame compared to other toys

>>6183682
