And again, it is a garage kit--which means in all likelihood you will be receiving a pile of grey plastic or resin parts. First they told me to take pictures. A lot of them. Every angle of the figure, box and shipping box. Then they told me to file a claim at my local post office and send them a copy. So I did, but my post office refused to give me a copy of the claim, just the receipt. Sent that to AmiAmi anyway, and now they're contacting Japan Post, who will supposedly contact my local post office to start an investigation. I asked how long that generally takes and they told me a few months to half a year.

It's been a real hassle.

So I ordered a figure from Mandarake, and even though they were TOTALLY to blame for it arriving broken as fuck (A piece of paper with super tight bubble wrap on a figure with no box), the whole process of filing a claim took 2-3 weeks. I used EMS, so that might have contributed to the speed. Also, you get the original item back, so it's not so bad in the end.
