Any reviews on the new Sailor Moon yet?

So I got the Bruce rerelease ordered. What am I in for? Vangelus' review got me hyped but one point stuck out: is there any easy way to modify the nunchuks temporarily to make the chain static? Would've been coolnif they'd included an 'in action' piece.

I only have one Figuarts (Sailor Moon) so I guess it's her. She's pretty great though, articulation is crazy and she's super cute. I had a few paint errors but nothing awful.

Speaking of which, which Senshi should I buy next? I've only seen the first season/Dark Kingdom arc so far so I'd rather stick to characters from that arc (I'm further ahead in the manga mind you). Jupiter is my favourite, so I'm thinking her.

They're not. The four standard releases are shelfwarming hard. Mandarake has them for like 1500 yen. They're cheap for Bandai to churn out because they only need to sculpt one body and then they can resell it as many times as they want with new heads.

How the hell would that even work? The limbs would be fragile as fuck, and having completely straight limbs with one bend right in the middle would look off for Sonic, since his limbs are usually animated in a kinda rubber-hose-y sort of way. I don't think it would be hard to work out. His limbs are about the size of anime girls, so they shouldn't be that hard. I just make the joints strong and the head hollow, and the big shoes will take care of the rest.

Straight arms may not be 100% in character, but they'll still work. Having two sets of limbs (bent and straight) could work though, as long as both sets of limbs have proper elbow, knee, and shoulder joints (unlike the Nendroid).

I finally got a rogue one stormtrooper, and man, this guy is weird. I'm not gonna say he isn't great because he is, I'm probably gonna pick up one or two more. There's a bunch of stuff that's a certified downgrade compared to their previous troopers though, and I'm not really sure why. The other two in the pic had great head movement, while his helmet is much closer to the neck and has way less range. Same with the elbows, he technically has a double hinge but the first part is buried so deep into the bicep it might as well not be there. They even changed the hinge system the shoulder pads are on, even though they end up being functionally the same as the old ones.

It feels like they started from the ground up to wash the taste of the last one out of their mouths, even if it meant ignoring engineering that was already good. He's pretty handily the best 1/12th stormtrooper I've messed around with, but he could have easily been much better.

What's a price threshold where it becomes possible that an SHF is a bootleg on eBay?

I noticed that there are now bootlegs of the first version of Bruce Lee hitting at $25-$30 (it's painfully obvious they are bootlegs). But I'm also seeing the Game of Death Bruce for $52 shipped, and I'm skeptical. I also found a couple of sellers with Freddie Mercury for ~$40 shipped. The pictures look legit (when they're not promo photos), but the sellers are in Hong Kong. Could they be bootlegs? And that free shipping is without tracking. I want the real deal, so should I avoid those sellers?

well first off if you notice something is worryingly tight you should heat it up with a hair dryer to soften the plastic before you ever try to move it, so you don't snap it

and sometimes that's actually enough

But I personally always keep shock oil on hand for lubricating action figure joints and floor polish for tightening them.

I forget exactly which shock oil I have and I'm not at home to check, but it's something that's made for motorcycle suspensions and if you get one little bottle of it it lasts an eternity because you usually need an incredibly small amount, like I just get a drop on the tip of a toothpick.

Shock oil, or if you can't find any around you in stores then use dish soap. Just drop a little bit onto the joints, I'm talking a tiny bit on a tooth-pick. Start to work the leg gently and spread it out and it'll loosen up.

Got my Bruce today. Pic related.

I'm quite happy with him but the face on pic related had a small black paint smudge near his left eye (right side on the picture). Tried to scratch it off and even checked in the back first to make sure it's just the plastic I'm scratching but turns out there's a thickish coat of paint on gray (?) plastic so now I got rid of the black spot but replaced it with grey marks. Fuck my life.

Just get a tiny bottle at the hobby store. They use it for RC Cars.
Or if you have any silicone lube, that will work as well.
Also, as mentioned before dish soap (or in a pinch, rub some bar soap ) over the ball part of the joint, will work a treat.
DON'T use anything petroleum based as it degrades plastic.

Maybe try dish soap, but I heated up the joints with boiling water, popped off the legs (REALLY CAREFULLY) and did a really light sanding on the ballpegs. When I put the legs back on they were really smooth but never got floppy.

I've no problem with the printed faces myself, but then again I don't view them at 10 times the size of the actual head. I totally understand the issues people have with it and can understand their thoughts but it's just going to be one of those complaints from here on out with printed face figuarts.

I'll just continue to scale the preview images down so the head matches the size it would be in hand and then make my mind up.

Wait. Nowhere did i say the actual printing technique is bad. Quite the opposite, it's freaking phenomenal. The blemish I had was outside the printed area and could've happened just the same on any other figure.
I actually expected much worse qfter seeing up close pictures of Bruce and others using the dot matrix but you literally cannot see the dots in person and the printing is spot on and on point.

Yeah you can. They look like early ps2 graphics, but it actually looks pretty good. The issue is that most faces are misaligned.

They do Marvel movie stuff and Star Wars pretty well. I think the figures with human faces are a better thing to get than Stormtroopers. There's a Han Solo coming out later this month that looks really impressive.

A tad dated, but still the best zero figures out there. The only shitty thing about the figure is it is a bitch to pose, like the other MM D-arts forearm and leg pieces are really annoying. They also didn't really do a good job of engineering the hair and its joint.

Even with these slight annoyances, it's totally worth it's retail price.

Old OP here - Yeah I haven't been keeping up and I feel bad about it, but life's had me slammed a bit recently. It was never intentional, I wanted threads to stay up as long as possible and it usually landed on a day I'd be at work 12+ hours and someone else would make it anyway. I've been working a lot of overtime, new girlfriend, trying to keep up with friends and whatnot. I haven't even looked at these threads in a couple weeks.

It was a fun (almost) 2 years doing these threads, and I'm glad to contribute to /toy/ after being here for so long, but my time is done, I'm just too normie.

Hell I even completed this set 2 months ago and haven't popped in to brag about these almost garbage-ass figures. Might as well show it off now, I don't think any else on /toy/ has their own pic of all nine of 'em.

Old OP has his/her signature image at the last post that links to the old thread. Kinda liked that method, if you don't mind.
