Whats wrong with the mask? It's not the guys face, bro. It's a mask. Looks pretty in-line with the one from the comics.

Unless you're expecting it basically be super-thin almost painted on like it's sometimes shown in the comics. Which ain't gonna happen in real life.

>>6114615

I still haven't bought UW Computron and Wave 4 is coming soon and theres at least 4 different 3P things I want all costing $80-650 a pop. Not to mention books I want, games, and other toys.

i saw it in person at tfcon, its nearly flat with only the very slightest curve

>>6114641
its too wide and the fact that its so very flattened only exaggerates that problem more, it needed to angle forward more
the upper piece of the "mouth" is also inset and recessed on the mmc one which it isnt in the comic, look at the image you posted or pic related
I understand the plastic piece cant be as thing or delicate as the comic one but thats no excuse for the actual problems this one has, just shitty design work

Ive already received my shippment notice from psx so its not like Im not gonna buy it just because of those things but they do annoy me on what would have been an otherwise nearly perfect figure barring any qc issues
>>
Say I don't care about nitpicking the mask

I haven't bought an MMC since Anarchus. Is the QC still good?
>>
>>6114693

No. Anubis (or whatever their Not-Lockdown was called) was basically crap. MMC apparently hired some new designers and a new factory and things haven't been turning out so great.

Carnifex came out amazing though.
>>
>>6114693
It seems that the Anubis/Jeagertron mold was a fluke because Carnifex is practically flawless

And I avoided TR Galvatron. The rest of the line has been pretty good though. Hard to pass up most stuff for $15 or less.

1. Yes
2. March
3. He's apparently a made to order exclusive so there won't be much stock unless a lot of people cancel preorders.

You may want to consider preordering him now with a site that doesn't do upfront payments and just having the money ready when he ships in March. If you don't use a credit card you still have TCP's no upfront payment option via paypal. Once it comes in stock they'll send you a paypal invoice to pay and you can cancel anytime before that invoice is sent.

See the thing is Glitch as Tarn could have worked well if Roberts had actually seeded it in the background while keeping Roller as the red herring. If he kept it really subtle it could have worked to give it that "oh shit" effect when you looked at the hints retroactively.

Tarn's quirks is that he likes Megatron's writings, likes to transform a whole lot, and somehow talks people to death. Glitch's power is that he can disable non living machinery by touch and is a victim of what amounts to mutilation to the head and hands. Problem is none of those things really cross over except for his fucked up face at the end.

While Glitch was around, he could have shown a tendency to transform a lot or mention something along those lines. Example: While Ratchet was examining him he could have remarked about the stress Glitch's T-cog was under. As Tarn, there should have been subtle hints that weapons and machinery where mysteriously disabled while he was around. Ratchet remarks that he thought Glitch could eventually apply his skills over a distance so you could make it even more subtle. Tarn could have talked about problems with his restored hands or something that wasn't his face.Talking people to death is sort of out there but that could have been better tied to his outlier power. Instead the only hints really dropped that wasn't misdirection to Roller was that he was somehow acquainted with Optimus.
>>
>>6115385
When the fuck did striker noir go from 80 bucks to nearly $100?! Fuck man, if i am gonna pay that much for a menacing repaint i should just go grab Hephaestus.

>>
>>6115539

>>
>>6115567
He comes with an entire weapon pack for manus. Tfs has this listed.

Giant weapons Pack (short gun, arm blade, machine gun, star saber, striker cannon, handgun, katana, Striker Manus weapon holder, and an axe extension bar)
>>
>>6115570
Have we seen these weapons yet? Because the axes are kinda stumpy.
>>
>>6115580
Nope, not besides a small preview in the official photos which are simply illustrations.
>>
>>6115487
I think I would have liked it alot if underneith Tan's mask was a fake face, and beneath that would be his true, empurata'd face.

Or if Roller may have taken his frustrations out on Glitch, with Glitch making his "fake face" resemble Roller.

Almost like a bullied kid turning into a bully, transforming into the thing he hated the most.
>>
>>6115580

It's doubly bad because they also explain that spark's usually need to be put inside similar-sized bodies, unless they're loadbearers.

So Glitch just pretty much got a body 2x the size for no reason.

>>6116192

The only thing I don't like about this is the PM crotchplate isn't ball jointed at the flaps. It kills the leg articulation entirely, which is bullshit. Iron Factory should've done that piece a bit better.

Still, you can probably just leave it off if you need full leg movement, but you shouldn't have to for a $70-ish dollar toy.
>>
>>6116235

>>
>>6116372
Haha wow thats bad, think I'll be glueing his mask on.
>>
As much of a fuss there is about the face, it's the rest of his body I have a problem with. I can't even put my finger on it, he just looks... Fuzzy. The treads are a good example, they're really soft around the edges where I'd expect them to be crisp, for lack of a better word.
>>
>>6116402
I thought that too but didn't know how to phrase, like the sculpt itself is slightly soft? It's weird cause Anarchus and Vos who's actual name I forgot are so crisp.
>>
>>6116411
I don't have them, but I've got carnifex and spartan, and it's a weird look compared to those two. Carnifex sort of has something similar going on with the glossy blue part of his chest, but it's not as pronounced.
>>
>>6116428
Were Carnifex and Kultur designed by different people?
>>
>>6116428

Pretty sure Carnifex's chest is gloss injected plastic, thats why it's shiny.
>>
>>6116432
No idea, I'm just in it for the robots. I could see that being a possibility, but it's strange to change aesthetics up in the middle of a line/team.

>>6116436
It's possible, but I don't think so. If you open up his tiddy missile panels, the backside of them is the same plastic but the detailing is super sharp. Same thing with the sides of his abs, they're dull matte blue compared to the front. I think the gloss is just something it's dipped or coated in to give it that appearance, and it's thick enough to smooth out any edges.

Kultur is all matte though, so even that can't be it. It's just gotta be a design difference, but man, am I not a fan of it. Fuckin' michelin man ass.

The big problem is taking a lithe design like a Raptor, and trying to adapt it faithfully instead of making it bulky like a G1 Dinobot. On top of that, trying to make a feminine robot mode.

Overall it reminds me of a Beast Wars design, more specifically a Beast Wars Neo Predacon. I'd have preferred this in more of a non-G1 Dinobot colorscheme as a BW fembot.

You're right, it kinda looks like what happens when you smooth a 3D model too much. Didn't the initial photos look much crisper?

I'm pretty familiar with it. I still like it. Also this is probably the only figure the guy is ever going to get considering the season finale for the comic bombed right into the shithouse and pissed a ton of people off in general, souring everything related to the DJD more or less.
>>
>>6116813
It's "shit" in the sense that it's quite inaccurate to the design and very rushed looking, compared to MMC's previous two DJD releases (who look very spot-on to the source material).

I don't believe most 3P figures (within reason) aren't sporting fully articulated ball joint-with-hinged-fingers hands yet. Especially for these prices. Shit, they could at least stop doing the "hinged pointer only, rest of hand is fused together" garbage and fucking seperately hinge the rest of the fingers too.

Honestly, the IDW stuff has it's ups and downs like any other comic. Comics are generally a revolving door of writers and artists and some stories end up gold, while others end up shit.

Only reason why people are ragging on the end of the current season is because it was the last bad bit of writing in recent memory. Right now, the comics have been pretty decent again.

I've been out of the loop for literally years and while i'm doing some research myself, i wouldn't mind some more specific spoonfeed...

>>
>>6117196
Mostly G1 main characters, Optimus, Inferno, Wheeljack, Grimlock, Starscream, Overlord, Sixshot, and others, plus combiners like Devastator, Bruticus, Menasor, Computron.
And yeah, no tiny figures.

>>6117188
>And, is the Wei Jiang MPP10 worth it for about 120$?
On that matter, what about other KO MP figures(i guess they count as 3rd party too), like the Takasa Tony MP20 Wheeljack for about 30$, or others? How's the quality on theeir own, and how does it compare to the originals?
Reading some customer reviews it seems they're exceptionally good and very close(if not better?) than the originals, but i'd rather ask you guys to be sure.
>>
>>6117211

Decent combiners are few and far between. MMC's Feral Rex is the best Predaking, TFC's mostly released Seacon's are probably the best Seacon's we'll see unless another company does them, best Devy is probably GT's.. Best Sixshot I think is MMC's Hexatron (but if you prefer a more MP or G1 aesthetic for him theres a few out/coming out now like Hanzo).

Overlord is pretty much MMC's Carnifex who is amazing, or wait to see if that G1 styled one made by...Uh...I forget who. Turns out any good. It's not out yet and probably won't be for a while.

Best Optimus is still probably MP-10, or maybe Striker Manus if you don't want a G1 one. Inferno's best is probably the new MP, Wheeljack's best again is probably the MP. Starscream, you're shit out of luck unless you like the War For Cybertron one, in which case there was a good one released like 2 weeks ago by Planet X. Same with Grimlock, the WFC/FoC one by Planet X, but he's harder to find since he's kind of "old" now.
>>
>>6117217
I guess i'll have to skip on the combiners for now as they're really too expensive(as a whole) as of now for me.

>Hanzo
This one looks nice and relatively cheap.

>Best Optimus is still probably MP-10
>Wheeljack's best again is probably the MP
Regarding those, my question was more about if the KO ones(Wei Jiang MPP10 for 120$ and Takasa Tony MP20 for 30$, but i see there are others to around 30-40$) are worth the money on their own and how they compare to the originals, if it is true that they're actually very good KO almost indistinguishable from the originals(except a few negligible details).

I don't see a KO MP Inferno though, that's sad.
>>

>>
>>6117234

KO's tend to vary a lot. Some will be better than others. But a lot of them are going to be really dependent on the one you yourself end up getting. Some people get them and they're fine, others end up with a waste of $30. Such is the nature of KO's.
>>
>>6117234
>I guess i'll have to skip on the combiners for now as they're really too expensive(as a whole) as of now for me.

Oh, and yeah, combiners are hugely expensive. Thats never going to change really, and usually the ones that you see going for cheaper are the ones that are raw shit.
>>
>>6117246
I see, kind of expected actually, but i asked because as far as it goes for MP KO, except from very minor issues like very small smudges on paint application, or slightly looser joints that are still perfectly and easily fixable, i have yet to see a video review which complains about the quality considering the KO as a waste of money, and almost no consumer reviews below near top score(4/ or 4.5/5, 8/10 or 9/10 and so on).
I guess everyone is lucky getting the best KO, or the people who get the bad ones never do reviews at all.

>>6117250
Yeah, 100-120 for a single figure is not that much, but when you have to get all 5 or 6 of them it becomes really expensive and not worth it if you're short on money.

He probably is though - he's confirmed as a Point One Percenter.
>>
Been fucking around with Striker Manus for a bit, already seeing a stress mark here and there. Just giving a heads up to anyone who has or plans on getting him:

For anyone who gets him (or Noir), I highly advise just ignoring the last step of the instructions (where you slip the adjustable tabs in his legs into the back of the oil barrels), it's an unsecured fit (as the legs can rotate and put stress) and is a venue for putting stress on the bar that holds the barrel. Just glad I caught it early rather than much later.
>>
>>6117965

That doesn't mean they've got loadbearer capabilities though-Which is what lets people use bigger bodies than they normally could. FortMax is supposed to be one in addition to being a point one percenter, but no one knows his actual upper limit (or if we'll actually see him ever become biggus hugeimus, outside of that one time where he sort of but not really piloted a dead titan).
>>
>>6118032
>FortMax is supposed to be one in addition to being a point one percenter
Fort Max is never hinted at being a loadbearer and in fact when Prowl is talking about the strongest cybertronians he mentions Max but only "on a good day", so he's strong but apparently he's not even Optimus-level powerful as far as spark strength goes.

I used to own a Giant and recently upgraded to Gravity Builder.

Both have their ups and downs. Gravity Builder is bigger, more detailed, has less partsforming and better individual robots. Transformation has a lot of smaller steps for really minor things which makes it over all a more complex set.

Giant has much simpler transformations which makes it a bit more intuitive and if you get the green version (and honestly why wouldn't you) you can form a massive hammer out of the individual weapons instead of a gun. He also feels a little more solid in combined mode even if his joints are a tad looser. I can't speak for others but the Not-Longhaul in my set had issues balancing and articulation was spotty across the individual bot modes.

Definitely some weird decisions were made with the two.

Looking at their tails reminded me a lot of Dragon Caesar's tail. That begs the question: why could they have not just made their tails into gigantic lance's for the little ladybots? The tails look like they're meant to poke somebody's eye out, so why not give it to them? Instead of the more generic weapons fare, give them each a staff that their tail will plug onto in robot mode.

As for the head, I think they should have reengineered it to look like robot ponytails. Like the way optibotimus showed how he kept Dino heads reminded me of a giant braided pony tail. If they played proportions, engineering, and joint integration, they could have had a robotic, braided ponytail that could have made them look pretty dynamic in action poses.

As for the hands, they should have just let them rest behind the arms. They curve behind the firearms nicely already. On their shoulders, they don't feel much better than kibble. At most, rework the Dino hands so that they hug the forearm more snuggly.

Overall I think they are ideas that could have made alright 3P Transformers, but over-thinking and under-thinking in certain spots put them down.

Got this guy. Paint has parts that are disconcertingly sloppy and would give bobo nightmares, but I think mine fared better than what people are reporting with splotches, out of lines, scratches, and shit like fingerprints in the paint. His legs are really interesting but hold all his problems as a robot. Namely very limited knee bend, weird-but-accurate feet with little swivel, and the feeling like the whole knee assembly is going to explode when you do use the bend. The rest of the joints are great and the upper body is properly poseable and have great shoulder range. You might need to move the cardoors on the arms to get at the wrist swivel though. He's a handsome bot and the alt mode is fucking ace aside form the aforementioned paint. The backpack doesn't even flop around like Disorder but still isn't really properly secured. It's just those legs fuck up any decent posing your're going to get under the figure's own power. If they just pushed up the leg assembly on a dedicated joint which got to 90 degrees it would have been great. As it stands I can't even get it to 45 degrees.

Get the shadow fisher kit if you go with it. They're best in vehicle mode or combined with the kit. I like three of them in bot mode (Scattorshot, Nosecone, and Strafe) but the other two look wonky. The giftset has three Q/C problems but they should come with replacement parts. One for the torso waist ratchet being off a notch, one for Lightspeed's head balljoint being deformed, and replacement lights for Nosecone. Also limited combiner kneebend. The individual releases that came later have the fixes applied. I really like it over the CW stuff I feel is trash, but hey that's me.

>take the lance idea for the tail
>have the robot arms folded to the back holding the bit with the hands being covered by the tail. It would transform with the lance in one or both hands ala animated prime.
>Have the dino arms as their own dedicated limb assembly that fold up behind the torso/shoulders to create the pauldron look.
>Make the dino head split, fold down on an assembly to fit more on the back and compress as much as possible and have the head kibble peak over the shoulder from the side.
Head/neck kibble lfits into taps that lock into alt mode arms on the back.

There I fixed it. Pic related. I put as much effort into the drawling as FP did.

I have Severo and like him. He does have some flaws though, his T-Rex mode kind of blows and his arms don't lock into place in robot mode. But I love his beefy robot mode and his accessories (throne, crown and huge ass Targetmaster hammer) are awesome.
>>

Do you have any of the other FP Dinobots? How are they? I like the looks of them, and they're not as expensive as all of the MP versions.
>>
>>6119711
Not him but I've got all but the fembots from FP.

I dunno, I do like them but I feel like FPs dinobots have been a strong start that just keeps declining.

Columpio showed the real potential the line had. Great design and articulation that fit nicely with updated CHUG aesthetics in both modes. He had kibble but that's to be expected (to the point of being necessary)from the Dinobots at this point just because of their iconic designs and it doesn't really get in the way of anything at all so that's cool. Transformation was a little tight in some places but generally simple and fun and at no point did it ever feel like you were at risk of breaking anything. Really, my only complaint with him comes from his legs. They look decent enough but the shape still feels a little off and I wish they could have found something better to do with the dino hind legs than just hang them off of the calves. Still, a really solid first start.

Cubrar took a few steps forward in some places and a few steps back in others but overall, was still pretty great. Once again, aesthetics and designs of both modes just knocked it out of the park and articulation was great in both modes. The transformation was actually really neat, especially with the hind legs in dino mode becoming the feet in robot mode. Transformation is also where the biggest downside is, in that while there are some great ideas there, it's ultimately made not fun because of how many colliding panels and tight fits you have to make. Dino to bot isn't so bad but the reverse is downright frustrating sometimes, plus, you need to have the knees bent perfectly in order to get the rear end to actually hold together. It's also just a touch scary in some places because it does seem like you might force something too much and snap it. Still, overall a great figure.
>>
>>6119867

How's Not-Swoop? Would you recommend trying to pick these guys up in general?
>>
>>6119867 (cont.)
Volar is where the decline begins. Alt mode was actually a really nice change of pace, going for a more "realistic" approach instead of the box with wings we're used to for Swoop. It's articulated well enough to do the "walking on its wings" pose we're used to seeing from pteradons so that's pretty cool too. Bot mode also looks pretty decent and is well articulated. Transformation is where it comes out not so great. There's one or two ok ideas in there but the rest of the transformation is pretty unspectacular and even lazy in some places. For instance, the robot arms just hang super visibly from the back of dino mode and the only transformation is to bend the elbows, fold the forearms, and stuff them back there. He's not bad and has things going for him but he's not as strong as the first two.

Then we have Severo. He's not awful, just really disappointing. Engineering and transformation are kinda wonky. It has mostly what you'd expect from Grimlock but goes about it in ways that just seem off. Aesthetics are there for a CHUG style figure but seem a little off from the rest of his crew. I kinda hate his legs because they never really feel like they're in a natural position, partially because of where joints are in his knees and feet, and partially due to his tail lines giving the illusion that things are at an angle. I appreciate not going with the by-the-books G1 dino mode but what we got just doesn't work that well. The upper portion just feels too scrawny for a t-rex and that's exacerbated by the fact that he has a major fat ass that is completely immobile. Everything about his tail end comes off as lazy, though maybe part of that is me being spoiled from having PX Vulkan first. His dino mode legs try but they really fall flat with articulation and it's a major bummer that his hands are visible in dino mode. Severo should have been the pinnacle of the FP dinobot team but he just doesn't cut it and squeaks by as barely ok.
>>
>>6119884
Hard to say. I'm still overall happy with them and I intend to finish the line off when not-Snarl comes out but I kinda wish I went with one of the CHUG style teams when I had the chance. Probably would have gone with GCreation instead but Wrath is not an easy find these days.

If you like how they look, I'd say they're still a decent by but just keep your expectations curbed a little when it comes to Swoop and Grimlock. I loved Sludge and Slag but Swoopt didn't exactly impress and Grimlock was disappointing, and when Grimlock ends up as the weakest member of the team, it really hurts the group as a whole, IMO.

Few things I forgot to mention:
Swoop comes with an extra blue torso if that's your thing and swapping it is easy enough so that's a plus. You don't have to buy a whole second figure like the other Dino-nots.
Scale might not be an issue for you but it does bug me a bit when all of them are the same size and height. Just feels off having Slag as tall as Sludge, especially with how bulky he is and Swoop being as tall as everybody, including Grimlock.

Ultimately depends on how much you pay attention to build quality. Hasbro is mostly hollow shit so you'll feel the difference in build quality. From an outside perspective, it's not so bad, but between the poor quality that leads to easy-breakage, in addition to just.. generally being poor quality sculpts, it's generally a crapshoot even touching Hasbro stuff.

Also, Wolfwire has questionable qc. I've seen some samples that are perfect even after being roughhoused, others that have stressed hinges and cockpit frames, usually because of the softer plastic right next to them. A yellow plastic hinge on mine disintegrated with minor handling, seen in the image (the soft plastic red hinge halves compensate), although I'll probably replace it anyways because some of the paint in robot mode is shitty on my copy.
>>
>>6120123
My hinge broke too, but I think the red parts are safe. It looks like the yellow doesn't have *quite* enough clearance so if anything catches you end up just prying it apart, but around the red part of the hinge it looks like it has more room.

>Dat painstaking effort to layer and hide all the small details so it lines up with the art
>dat moment he pans the figure around after opening up the cab to showcase the arcane magic that is the entire fucking torso assembly
>dat satisfying as fuck layering when the back panels angle to make room for the backpack to fold in and layer on top of the chest.

There are no shortcuts on this thing. Everything gets from truck to robot exactly how it is in the art. All except the fake grill and the trailer hitch. The grill is acceptable given how it magically deforms, but I'm 50/50 on the hitch just popping off. The vehicle mode truck bed is a little dicey but is solid enough to get the job done.

Gcreations is pretty much just making the art and popping it off the comic pages and making it work as a figure by any means necessary. That's no small feat and the end result still being able to be that clean and articulate is impressive.

Generation Toy takes all the elements of the comic design and applies more a more traditional Optimus beefy proportions to make a good toy representation. While not as detailed and accurate to the concept art, it makes the most of being less complex by being a lot more solid and clean in both modes.

God fucking dammit I just wanted one to be shit so I had an excuse to get the other. GT still has a chance to bungle it I guess.

I can't write for shit my man. I guess I could commission people for anything I want though, but it's not the same without art, and when you factor that in, it's starting to become a pretty big undertaking.

Will this damage the toys in the long run?

Me going 'pew pew pew' with my toys and throwing that at each other might be fun for me but I don't know how much of a story that is.

That transformation is crazy. I look forward to Bobo Skellington struggling with it.

So what's the latest I could actually buy this thing? I just spent a shitload on post-holiday splurging but I really want this guy.
>>
>>6121205
>>6120396
Also what's the best place to buy him? I heard BBTS is bad juju.
>>
>>6121216
TFSource is pretty solid, though lately they've been taking a bit longer to get product in stock. Still generally less time than BBTS takes though.

>Will this damage the toys in the long run?
Maybe if I soaked the figures in the smoke juice, but a few seconds for pics isn't going to hurt anything. I mean, its safe enough to breath so......
>>
>>6121223
>TFSource is pretty solid
TFS shill please go. TFSource is pretty much universally hated. They take forever to ship, and the routinely mark things as in stock when they dont actually have any product in hand so that they can catch the first rush of people.

>>6121216
>Also what's the best place to buy him?
Any of the smaller retailers will charge less, give you free shipping, and provide better customer service. IE The chosen prime, GCI Toys, Toy Dojo, ect.

>tfw Kultur sold out everywhere but TFSource still had him so I preordered him from there not knowing all of their awful bullshit

I guess I should just cancel that credit card after I get Kultur since they have it on file now.
>>
>>6121216

Never had a problem with BBTS personally, but you are gonna eat shipping if you buy from there.
>>
Also, how the fuck is Kultur sold out EVERYWHERE like this?

Is Tarn really that popular? Never saw an MMC figure not even be available like this before.
>>
>>6120387
Pretty great, I like him a lot more than Striker, though that might be just of my bias for Megatron. The only problem find is the clip on the back, it doesn't sit the best on mine, and in gun mode when holding the scope it doesn't sit perfect there either. But it's passable I'd say. Also wish he had a bit better ab-crunch. Aside from that, especially considering the price, he's damn good for me.
>>
>>6121569

Apparently its an extremely small run and it's the only game in town at the scale. Even if IF manages to pop one out all the other comic oriented lines at a larger scale are either slow as fuck (Manga Mech, SXS) or just starting out (Gcreations, Generation Toy). They're basing sales of the final two dudemclargehuge members based on Kultur as well.

Whether the small run is from factory fuck ups, MMC vastly underestimating demand, or MMC pulling some shit it remains to be seen.
>>
>>6121587

But why do such a small run of a guy they knew would be popular?
>>
>>6121592

We don't know. It could be all they could get out of the factory before CNY or the Nintendo patented artificial shortage. Some stores initially reported that they could only secure single digits to order so preorders were sold out instantly. PSX seemed to have many more come in stock than what they took for preorders before they sold out.

I have this set too. All the figures, except maybe Sonicdrill, are fucking great. The combined mode does actually seem a little thin from the side and I've yet to pick up the add-on kit to fill him out a bit.

Might go with their Defensor, I've heard nothing but great things about him.
>>
Okay, so if Severo isn't that great of a Grimlock figure, which one is highly suggested? The only Grimlocks I own are the RID Grimlock toys
>>
>>6121798

Planet X Grimlock is great.

What's wrong with BBTS? I mean they're not the best, but I like them because I've had some QC on figures and they helped me right out no sweat.
>>
>>6121945
Different stories for different people, I never had issues with them, but they are by no means the only online toy store to shop from
