I've been interested in picking up at least most of the 2001/02 Rahi, but the main thing that's holding me back is the fact that I won't do anything with 'em. I more than likely won't display them or take them apart.

Finally put together my final boss. I didn't find everything I needed, so I used a bag of parts I got at Value Village, plus Terak, Uniter Onua, Mask Maker & Skull Grinder, Ikir, Skull Spider and Destroyer Umarak.

I even had enough parts left over to make a Mini Makuta and my little Rahkshi knight.

Custom cast mask guy here, it really bothers me that they pulled the plug so early. Something stinks of incompetant management... We'll never get a straight answer.

It's been a blast posting with you all and re-connecting to one of the most important parts of my childhood. You've encouraged me to learn a new skill, and once school is done this semester I'll be able to share the product of my work with you. I really wanted to start selling masks earlier, but between classwork and actual work, I haven't had the time to really get it rolling.

I may not have posted about the masks in a while, but I haven't abandoned the project. I've seen posts on VK (Russian Facebook) sharing my pictures and even some others who have started their own attempts at making their own masks. Crazy to think this stuff I've picked on a whim has inspired people on the other side of the world. That isn't to say that I'm the first, but I don't know of anyone else who has taken this stuff as far as I have.

It's been a blast, I've made my (horrible) mark as a degenerate namefsg, and a loved anon.

Looks like most everyone's calling it. Shame, I was hoping everyone would keep this going until the new year, to at least give it some finality.

Either way, it sucks to see it end once more. I've been mostly lurking, occasionally posting ever since the first leaks appeared. It's been fun going through the past two years with you guys, hyping up new releases and speculating, even trying to ignore the signs of Lego pulling the plug.

I guess we can still open new topics if we get any specific news, like Star Wars CCBS stuff, or the release of the Artbook when that happens. Who knows, maybe we'll get to see a new Constraction line as soon as January at Toy Fair that would warrant its own General.
I feel like it's a little early to call it quits just yet. The CCBS threads might go dormant for the time being, but I'm sure we'll have something substantial to discuss one year from now that is more than just the few Star Wars sets we're getting at the moment. It would really suck to see the small CCBS community we've had assembled here die out again.

The action feature's pretty weak imo and sacrifices too much of the set. It's a fun build and a nice throwback to the Technic-heavy models, but the result is underwhelming.

A larger set could have made better use of the gimmick while having better articulation (not that that's overly important for me personally, I like the 01 Rahi well enough anyway) and better aesthetics. As it is, the set only measures up to its in-story character.

That's why I love Hero Factory: most folks want nothing to do with the sets past the first year aside from the occasional huge marvels of engineering like Witch Doctor. I've bought so many HF sets on clearance and can find some for about retail or less at the small mom & pop shops here in SoCal, which is how I got the late production run of Toxic Reapa with the modified feet sockets.

Once they finally ran out of Zesk feet with the shitty sockets, yeah. The promo renders and most of the Toxic Reapa sets during Breakout Wave 1 still had the older mold before being changed to the more squared-off CCBS-esque socket.

I've just migrated to /lg/ and my collecting has essentially just been minifigs as of late. Waiting for those Battle Suit Nexos to be released. Not getting any CCBS Star Wars though. Not worth the money.

Same here. I'm pretty happy with My JTO Makuta. I ended up putting on a pair of golden Spider masks on his shoulder heads, and I think it looks pretty neat.

Ironically, I have no skull spiders. I need a bunch of them for Makuta to summon and swarm against heroes.

Honestly, until they get their shit together qualitywise I'll steer clear away from them.
Not sure what's happening but the bricks in my more recent sets, even the ones in storage or on display, start cracking everywhere and even in the weirdest places.
Tons of 1M wide bricks cracked on the small sides, minifigs have cracks on the heels, clips snap and just yesterday I noticed that the lightsaber hilts in the Ultimate Axl and Lance sets cracked where they had rods inserted into them.
I think I really noticed the severe drop of quality around the time they introduced those Chima Legend Beasts.
That eagle one was never taken apart but nearly every 1M wide brick has at least one crack in it.

Kinda ironic that they reinforced their CCBS pieces to make them the toughest shit ever but their standard bricks are almost Chinese knockoff-quality by now.

That said, Witch Doctor was some sort of freak anomaly, it in no way felt like a hero factory set and it had a parts-density greater than any other HF set I can think of. Overall I'm actually really happy, in a way I havent felt since G1. The build is amazing, he as a character is amazing and CCBS as a whole is incredible. All the pieces are very strong, and while some sockets kept separating I didn't feel scared of them breaking like late G1 sets.

I've been here since the very first thread. The only time I've slacked was after cancellation, for obvious reasons. I am eternally salty that it got canned so soon, but I also could not be more thankful for the great memories it gave me. Not only with you guys, but with my family too. I came home from uni one weekend and mom surprised me with literally over half the first wave, and me and my younger brother had a fucking blast building sets together and reminiscing of simpler times. It's been great, and I'm glad we were even given this chance.

Honestly, Hero Factory.

I simply loved the vast variety of characters and designs, ranging from generic heroes, giant robots and baddies over robotic gorillas, wasps and mosquitos to robo Two-Face, a motherfucking punch-shark, a walking electro rainbow, a mass murderer and honest to god daikaijus.

But only under one condition: they use the initial concept that Faber was talking about.

Just ordered a Tahu and Umarak from Indigo.ca. Full price hurts, but Tahu disappeared when there was a slight 20% sale. There are only 2 left of Tahu, and this is probably one of the few places (at least in Canada) where you can still get him for retail. If you want him I suggest you grab him soon.

I almost don't even care what it is, if we see any unlicenced lego constraction theme I'll be thrilled.

Thoughts? I was just trying to figure out uses for the new Nexo triple shield, and I figured they could make pretty nifty mask pedestials.

I mean, they would only fit three each, but I'm still gonna get at least few for my Mata, Master and Uniter golden masks.

Really? I thought his possibility was poor. I was okay with not getting his cape, but I definitely was not okay with a ccbs build that doesn't even come close to the movie articulation of Grievous. First thing I fixed were the lower legs. With just one 3M bone he was able to stand like in the fighting scene with Obi-Wan. Also when he stands up the whole torso moves. Needed to fix the skeleton just a bit ...and fill all the gaps that showed up. Now, after revamping him, he can pose like the set AND stand upright. It kinda pissed me off to invest 35€ just to see that I need at least 10 to 15€ more to make me not hate him.

the first year was meant just as a kind of joke backdrop for an expansive universe

they did tons of work on hero factory that never got used, particularly universe building
