For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

SD Group Build

Rules:
Pick up an SD anything, plane, Gundam/other MS, whatever, if it's generally an SD it counts (so I hope to see someone do a D-Style). Obviously, per all group builds, you'll want to paint it.

Submissions:
Email it to [email protected]
USE AN ACTIVE EMAIL ADDRESS

Due Date: November 1st

Good news! A kind anon has purchased some prizes for the group build. He has decided to do a random drawing rather than judge them like I did in the previous group build. Winners will be contacted via email.

For those curious, I intend to start the secret Santa signups on October 1st.

Secret Santa

It's that time of year again. Just look at the form and fill it out. Signups last until December 1st, pairs go out in the days after that.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdprprkU_4UBARdot0ASSmoUoxghk9bOPVuRrvZKfghAZQRbg/viewform?c=0&w=1

A few things:
-Use an active email, I don't want to be hounding you and then have to repair someone.
-Use your full address, I don't know every damn city and zip code in the US.

A new option, Cards Only. If you pick this you're assumed to be willing to ship international (it's a card after all). It doesn't have to be a handmade card, just something nice. Of course handmade is nicest, but not everyone has the skills for it.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdprprkU_4UBARdot0ASSmoUoxghk9bOPVuRrvZKfghAZQRbg/viewform?c=0&w=1

As always, I'm available here, on IRC, or at [email protected].

Quick question. I have a poorly isolated house and I was told by someone that temperature shifts can really mess up a compressor. Does anyone here have experience with this and possibly tips on how to prevent damage?

Pretty easy. A slight cut into the joint, break it off, sand down the ends, glue together. Large, flat, sanded plastic surfaces against each other makes the cement grip pretty much immediately, so some minimal adjustment and there you go. Then some Tamiya extra thin to seal the deal.

Thanks, GGuy. Glad to have made the OP image.

Gonna start on my next project soon, and it'll be the first time I full take apart an old kit and redo it. It sucks because I didn't cut the pegs so I hope it doesn't become a huge mess. I also have to strip some paint apps I did as well as the topcoat over it. For that, I was thinking of using bleach after seeing a video about it. Has anyone tried the bleach method? Or is Simple Green/Purple Power really the way to go? I'd prefer not to shell out the extra money for SG/PP when I have a ton of bleach already and it's cheap to replace.

The rg. I can't deny it does look good. It just can't stay planted down as good as a hg or mg would be. My gp01 fb wasn't that bad because its a lot newer than the zaku.

>>5996756
Only loose RG I've built from the 8 or so that I have is the GP01 FB and that's only because of the core fighter gimick.

Never built that Zaku though so I can't speak from that experience.

Early RG kits tend to have the issue of being loose on the account of it being Bandai exploring a new territory. But when you start getting into the later RG kits like the Wing, Exia, and Astray they get a lot more stiff.

Friend is giving me a spare HG Dendrobium box from the store he owns. On a scale of one to ten, how much of an asshole would I be if I put a SD box in there, but weighed down the box to be reasonable size with sprues or trees or something and gave it to another friend for Christmas?

So, I'm just starting to look into prices for shipping things out since I have some stuff to get rid of.

It's like 30 dollars for the cheapest international shipping with canada post. UPS is probably more. Xpresspost and priority is obv more.

What the shit. Want tracking? 40$

I don't see myself wanting to ship my old unused models anywhere but within canadian borders atm. Maybe UPS is cheaper, but their service is still shit anyways.

My phone just boned everything I previously wrote, so lemme try again.

Whilepriming with tamiya liquid surface primer, suddenly a shitton of primer flee out at once then the airbrush clogged in the next instant. While cleaning the cup out, the remaining paint turned into silly string, and on returning to the part, dripping primer had created 'cobwebs' on the part and skewer. No matter what I do, I cant unclog my airbrush, and I've never seen lacquer paint behave this badly before. Help!

Maybe, but from most to least likely they'll probably put out more TV versions, Rebuild versions (if Anno ever makes 4.0 that is), and some Angels (probably just Bardiel and Zeruel if they do) before they start releasing Anima kits.

Cool, cool.

In the year 2016 of the Universal century, mankind etc...

>First week of September, friend owns a hobby store and runs as DM for a few groups
>Girlfriend, her younger brother, two high school guys, a mutual friend of ours, his wife and her sister compromise one of the larger groups that meet a few times a month like clockwork in the store to game.
>DM and his younger, idiot savant brother want us to try out a new campaign with us, it's a surprise until the 14th on our next meeting.
>14th arrives, arrive at the store to see a fuckton of gunpla in the store, apparently the place is now a local seller or something.
>Campaign is Build Fighters themed, taking place between Fighters and Try.
>A large amount of hype happens, a damage and converted pool table is now our Plavsky battlefield.
>Rules are a bit tricky to all post, but the idea is less about overall stats and more about your character traits and skills.
>Pick a trait, skills, dice bonuses.
>The really chill idiot savant brother of the DM, now our co-DM has watched every available Gundam episode of the subbed, dubber and whatever series.
>He also has statted all of suits, weapons - everything possible to stat has been statted.
>Campaign will have prizes at the end for best conversion, best overall rating and best design.
>$100 store credit for each winner, and $50 for whoever wins the tournament in game.
>It seems like a shitton of work to me, but I am just a player. Girlfriend is ecstatic though.
>Players are required to bring a HG, SD or MG scale kit in, customized and painted preferably.
>Shit, that's more work.
>I grab an Eye-Zack and Dra-c and blue Petit'guy, because bears are cute.
>>
>>5998235
>Everyone else gets their models in secret, although I see my girlfriends brother with two massive bags of something.
>Girlfriend has her family over, gushing about the game. Her parents are pretty amused at the entire thing, all this talk of "Jap cartoons."
>However, work and real life eventually drag us out of our hobby stuff. I lazily do a bit of work on my bastardized Dra-Zack every night, still keeping it a secret from the girlfriend.
>Gunpla are selling a lot better than I expected at the hobby store. Plenty of new faces are showing up, most of the regulars are roped into doing hobby workshops and stuff in exchange for store credit or whatever.
>Ownerfriend takes me aside at one point, asks me if girlfriends younger brother seems a bit off. Ask him why, find out he has been buying a shit ton of plastic cement and spraypaint. He's eighteen, so who knows if he is getting high off them or just building a ton.
>We both agree to let each other know if signs of him abusing come up, and to tell his family.
>By mid October I finished up my Dra-Zack, pretty fond of it.
>After a stupidly long amount of work, I get the Build Booster Mk II arm rifles attached to it.
>It is now a Eye-Zack torso with radome on the Dra-C lower boosters.
>Clean it up best as I can this morning, grab the people I have to ferry to the store and we all set off.
>Everyone has a box of some sort, few shoeboxes, girlfriends brother has a box for a lamp or something, huge box.
>We arrive, are told we can show off our Gunpla.
>Girlfriends Brother managed to make EDGEGUNDAM.
>This is some mix of THE END and Exia.
>Banshee head?
>Everything is red and black
>It's all held together with cement and dumb luck.
>Wings from the Wing Zero are adhered to the back.
>The arms are more gun than arms
>Brother girlfriend is a bit of a min-maxer, but I never realized how much.

Decided to pick up a Dom Tropen and make a Desert Skirmisher-type unit. I think I'm going to use a Zaku II machine gun, but I want to add something to the shoulders, maybe some rockets to pepper an opponent, and maybe switch out the Zaku gun for something stronger. Maybe a sniper rifle or a gatling gun. With Dom Tropen's they're big feature is being designed for desert combat and being super agile, so I wanted to keep that idea in mind where an opposing suit would have trouble with overheating and exposed parts might get worn down/damaged by sand, making it hard to fight extended battles with the Dom Tropen, but I need some weapons that fit a hit-and-run/skirmisher style.

From personal experience:
HobbyWave for bulk and large purchases hands down. Only site (that I know of) with flat rate shipping and prices close to Japanese ones. Downside is that it's basically only gundams, and their site is shit
HLJ is also good for bulk purchases, but shipping will fuck you for large models. Private warehouse is a nice bonus and makes it easier to bulk buy.
Hobby Search/ AmiAmi is decent, but I mainly use it for stuff that's either not sold on HLJ (looking at you little armory 870)
Amazon.ca has the occasional good deal, but isn't nearly as good as Amazon.com. I really only use it for Bandai's Star Wars models, since no where else sells them, or Hasegawa model planes (significantly cheaper to buy from some Japanese store front than buying them locally)
Ebay is the same shit as Amazon
>>
>>5998688

Ah ok, I'll just keep the side arm they have, and use a sniper rifle, combined with some rocket packets on the shoulders, have some good examples on rocket packets that are good with the doms?

Working through first gunpla. Got most of it test fit and decided I want to seem everything together, so I guess I'll have to paint over it.

The pieces were never primed because I originally had no intention of painting. I don't particularly want to spray primer on now because that might involve taking everything apart.

Is there brush on primer?
>>
>>5998720
You're going to want to use a spray primer. The goal of a primer is create a better base for the paint. With hand brushing, it's hard to get a smooth, even coat, which is ideally what you want in a coat of primer.
You don't have to take everything apart, but you'll probably want to separate the feet, hands, limbs, torso, and head into sub-assemblies to make it easier

For a more in depth explanation on primer, check out this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_-v7-Wp6no
This guy has a bunch of great modelling videos, and even though a lot of it is more advanced than what anyone here is doing, you can still learn a thing or two that might be helpful in the future
>>
>>5998728
I was actually mostly worried about getting primer stuck into joints. I just attempted a few spots to take apart and some are in pretty good, I'm not sure how rough I can be with these yet but usually from experience, if you have to ask, kind of thing it's probably too rough.

Also do you etch out panel lines? I used to do it with planes, like making them stand out more.

>>
>>5998734
Yeah, for joints you want to be careful. Masking tape can be useful for, as well as painting in general. As for etching out panel lines, that's completely up to you. Model aircraft, at least in my experience, tend to have finer panel lines, so etching them out will have less of an effect on a gundam model than it does on planes

I read that folks melt down leftover runners (especially those of the rarer colors) to be reused. All I could find was a guide of putting the pieces into a jar with plastic cement.

So if I want to use this plastic do I just apply it like putty?
>>
>>5998741
So the godhands really are amazing. Thanks for the advice about them.

I started on the 00 first and so far its been a bit different than all the other RGs. Instead of going full build, like build the left leg completely, build the right leg completely. It is building out just the frames of each part.

>So if I want to use this plastic do I just apply it like putty?
You can, but you need to remember to work pretty fast. The cement will evaporate quickly and "skin" will form on the surface of your "putty" which will make it not stick to the part you are filling (or it will stick poorly) so when you sand it later pieces of it will come off especially (where the layer of putty was thin) and you will need to fill some more.

From my experience melted sprue thing is not worth the effort, there are better products that work way more reliably.
>>
>>5998805
For whatever reason only the 00Q and Mk II are like that
>>
>>5998824
What type of cement would you recommend for this? Would something like Tamiya thin cement work?
>>
>>5998824
You want to apply the same types of plastics together, and applying cement on the surface before hand can help. It's just plastic dissolved in a solvent, so the best adhesion you can get is by applying it to the same type of plastic you used to make the putty in the first place.

But yeah, melted putty isn't a great solution. Dissolved plastic is always weaker than something that's been molded under pressure because plastic is super prone to warping.
>>
>>5998827
Regular cement would be better I think. What are you gonna use the melted sprue putty for?
>>
>>5998513
>>5998515
I was almost thinking Quebeley with that ridge on the top of the chest and shoulder cables, but not so sure. Looks like some kind of Dom/Kampfer hybrid, maybe?

>>5998832
Counter intuitively enough, thin cement is better than thick one. The difference between them is the amount of added resin and the resin doesn't seem to mix well with plastic. You want to be as close to pure solvent as possible.

>>5998831
Yes, putting cement under it (and over it) to soften up the whole thing helps adhesion, but you really wouldn't want to do it where you have surface detail nearby.

It works for filling gaps and holes on the underside of the part where nobody will see it, but that's about all it is good for imo.

>>5998832
When you say regular cement, do you mean thick cement? Doesn't that contain clear plastic that would affect the color of the final putty? I figured thin cement would be best since it's basically just the solvent by itself.

As for what I'm doing, I'm building pic related and I wanted to keep the original System Injection colors for the face, so to make the skin tone match I want to find a way to fill in the seams on the shoulders without having to paint it afterwards. I figure welding the parts and sanding afterwards would be the best way, but I was thinking that using melted sprue putty would be a good way to fill in any remaining gaps. Obviously I would wait few days for the solvent to dry completely beforehand in order to prevent the additional glue from making the seams reappear.

Picture of the seam in question.
>>
>>5998879
Consider the following: when you melt the plastic it changes color slightly, because the pigment gets redistributed.

If you really REALLY want to hide the seams without painting you might want to look at "instant glue" putty that comes in CMYK colors (http://hlj.com/product/GANM-07K etc) but then you'll be mixing colors anyway so you might as well just paint.
>>
>>5998911
You have a point. I'll experiment with some excess material before I commit to doing it. If I did the melted sprue technique, then sanded it and applied flat topcoat, do you think the color difference would be as noticeable then?

It's funny how lazyness makes you work twice as hard trying find ways to cut corners.
>>
That all seems like a shitload of effort just to avoid painting for some reason.

I hate SEEDshit, but I find the strike, especially the variants, so damn sexy. I have a Build Strike waiting on me to get better and I'm debating getting the RG as well because I like it so much.
How are the Strike Noir and Lukas custom MGs?

I actually don't mind a lot of SEED designs. Freedom is pretty slick too and I would like the Infinite Justice a lot more if it didn't have that retarded 2x4 on it's head.

Also, my favorite is G Gundam, but don't go in expecting a space opera/war drama. It's a really fun and emotional ride. You'll want something that can do a finger type move by the end of it for sure.

Also, once you've watched all those, watch build fighters. Stay the fuck away from Try, though.

Hey, would a silver sharpie work well for minor battle damage/chipping? Or is there another, better method?

I was considering drybrushing a silver/grey paint or something around edges and the like, but I haven't really decided on how best to do this... any ideas?
>>
>>5999637
Chipped paint isn't silver underneathe.
>>
>>5999640
Well yeah, but generally for "Robots" battle damage/chipping tends to be represented via silver/grey for the "metal" underneath.

I'm just wondering if it can be used for this without any issues.
>>
>>5999645
Only when done by amateurs. Pros do it the same color as military plamo guys do with dark browns and dark greys.

Also, a sharpie isn't going to give you near enough precision control or have a fine enough point to add realistic looking chips.

And if you want to use metallics you would be better off with a steel or gunmetal.
>>
>>5999664

Little bit elitest, but I'll bite.

So I should use Steel or Gunmetal, I'm assuming drybrushing is the best bet here, or is there another method I should be using?

Drybrushing is better for adding a bit of wear to metal parts like frame or for highlighting raised details.

For chips there are a couple methods, but the sponge technique and using a small brush to handpaint them in are two of the most common and yeild good results. Plenty of videos on youtube on how to do both.

Just remember that with chipping "less is more". It's easier to decide you didn't weather it enough and add a little more than it is to do too much then have to fix it.

And seriously, before starting google what chipped paint looks like as well as some pro built models to give you an idea. You only think you know what it should look like. Trust me, I'm not trying to be elitist, this is just how everyone is at the beginning with weathering.

I wanna do my first real customization/non snapshit project and I've picked the Dom Tropen. I'm planning on having it be a Desert Raider type of suit, and I'm thinking of adding a pair of rockets to the backpack for long range, and then a sniper rifle for riddling down opponents.

This is my first real foray beyond snapping things together and panel lining, so I was just wondering about tips for painting? I want to keep the original color scheme, except I want to make the tan a bit more saturated I guess would be the word, or just like a stronger color, and add a weathering effect as if its been stored and fighting in the desert for a long time.

I'm just wondering about accessories. What are the best shoulder mounted rocket accessories? Ideally I'm looking for ones that are open. Also trying to decide if a Sniper works good for a Desert Raider who uses speed and the elements to wear down the opponent, maybe keeping with a Vulture-like theme of just waiting for the enemy suit to succumb to the elements while fighting in combat and then finish it off. But the idea of a flame thrower or shotgun seems neat too. Any suggestions?

More or less done with Qubeley. Just need to let the panel lining and paint touchups to sit for a few days, then I'll top coat it. Originally I was going to do matte like for most gunpla, but it actually looks pretty nice as-is so I'm considering doing a gloss or semi-gloss. Any opinions?

Hey man, remember you from the other thread, I've been trying to find interesting missiles to suggest to you but no luck so far.

As for other accessories, extra fuel carried somehow, camo bundles, canvas bundles, ect. ect. I would suggest looking at desert warfare tanks from wwII and later the Soviets, they will give you awesome ideas for this.

Also yeah, the sniper rifle would be best. The idea is to keep moving, stay out of enemy range and sight, and wear them down until either the desert devours them or they are shot down.

Flamethrower isn't really fitting for the desert, more of an urban or cave sorta deal. Shotguns are always right and proper.
>>
>>5999940
Thanks! I'm barely above snap-level myself at this point, though I'm working my way up. The only things I did to this kit except trimming nubs and panel lining is a tiny tiny bit of painting in the shoulder binders, face and the dot on the outside of the arms (not visible in picture) to replace the stickers, because I hate stickers. There's also a really obvious seam on the outside of the arms, near the area that I painted, that looks awful (due to me gouging the plastic and also getting some paint in the seam). Luckily the flaws aren't obvious.
>>
>>5999953
Thanks, and yeah some kind of fuel cannister or maybe like a detachable sled for grabbing/pilfering supplies would be neat.
I was thinking of getting the Anti-Ship sniper from MS Origin but I feel thats ill fitting since it would largely go up against GMs, Guntanks and Guncannons so whatever would be best against them.

I feel like with Mobile Suits there wouldn't be much staying out of sight, just the initial strike, so a Sniper with canon automatic or semi auotmatic fire would be preferred. The Dom Tropen was built with proection against sand and cooling systems in mind so I don't think the canvas is gonna help much but yeah I'm just trying to figure out the best way to represent a Delaz Fleet type suit that's been hiding out for a while and survives off hit and run tactics before retreating to safety in some kind of canyon.
>>
>>5999876

Set attainable goals for your project, don't worry so much about your headcannon stuff even though that is more fun, think about what you know you can do from testing and research, and keep the project reasonable. Think through each step of the entire process and what you need to do for each step. For example, what are you going to mix paint in? How are you going to clean your airbrush to change colors? Etc etc.

You can certainly handpaint, but you'll want to use a primer if you're going to paint. The hardest part of handpainting is that it's more time consuming and it's harder to get a good coat (not too thick, even, solid colour, etc). Airbrushing makes the painting process much easier, but there's a lot you can learn from handbrushing. Also, I believe bandai has 1/144 zeon decals, but official decals rarely get reprinted, so you're probably better just buying from third parties like samuel decal or on ebay

Probably the only real shitposter we've dealt with on /toy/ that wasn't just a spammer. He came in, asked for advice got it, and bitched and moaned when we didn't call his (awful) work amazing. I even gave him advice as nice as a could, along with several people. Dude just didn't get it so we started fucking with him. I'm sure someone can find the images...
>>
>>6000212
Several years ago now, back in the days before snapshit, before build fighters, before even the great FSS shitposter....there was Xbawks.

He was new to the threads and had bought a banshee norn...which he broke. But that was okay, we gave him some advice, and he decided to battle damage it. He did so by drilling a hole in the chest and gluing a beam saber blade into it and randomly drybrushing parts of it silver. I think he snapped an arm off too.

We gave him some advice about what he could improve and some tips for next time. He then proceeded to spam the same handful of large and terribly lit pics of his norn in every thread for weeks while he worked on his next build, an m1 astray.

So a couple weeks go by and he posts pic related, showing he hadn't improved at all and had ignored all of our advice. At this point everyone was fed up with him over the constant posting of his crappy norn so we finally told his to fuck off and he spurged out over it. And ran off to gundam eclipse where he ruined a rg justice and started looking into doing commisions for people.

You could always just do this If you're a cheapfag like me.
4 cardboard squares panels, cut out a square hole in 3 of them leaving 1 in on the perimeter.
tape/glue a piece of waxpaper on both sides of each of the three squares you cut holes in.
tape/glue together the panels so that there are wax panels for the top and side light sources, with the opaque panel being the backdrop.
For best results with a cellphone camera, I've found that either normal lightbulbs or LED sources will work, but I personally think that lightbulbs work best with this setup.
For best results with a DSLR or high-quality camera, LED lighting is an absolute MUST. Lightbulbs just make the picture look really orange.
Of course, buying a more professional light-source like the one GG guy suggested are always going to be better, but I think this works okay if you're not taking pictures of stuff you'd send off to GBWC.

(pic related was taken with a DSLR, you can see what I was talking about.)

Thanks for pointing this out, as I noticed it in one of my few experiments with extra lighting (Excuse the non-plamo pic).

Probably won't go full lightbox, but I know LegoQuest uses home made diffuses/reflectors/baffles, and we've got plenty of wax paper on hand.

pic related was a pic I took of my shitty MK-II I posted a while ago. Taken with a DSLR and LED flashlights for lighting. Yeah that'd sound neat but more for a diarama. I'm trying to figure out the paint job right now; I want to have part of the helm be white, and add some l ike shading and wear and tear on the paint, and maybe some chips/scratches. I just need to figure out how to do all of this and what I'm going to need since I'm going from snapshitting kits together badly, to something kind of ambitious for me. I don't have a painting background or an airbrush machine so I'm just trying to figure out the post-build phase stuff out. I'll probably top coat with some matte unless that'd ruin the look?
>>
>>6000546
Here's some stuff that might help out.
- Get some putty. Seams tend to look a lot worse on paint builds, so putty and plastic cement can really help. You can also use it to fix any places that you accidentally gorged out when de-nubbing
- Use a primer. It'll help you spot imperfections, and will help paint to adhere better
- Get some decent, soft brushes. It'll make brush strokes less noticeable
- Test painting spoons first. It'll give you some practice, and you can wait and let the paint dry to make sure you're happy with the colour
- Get good paints. Vallejo is arguably the best for hand brushing. If you can't get that, try getting something else that's meant for modelling. Also I would recommend choosing acrylic over enamel
- Get some future. I brushes on easily and creates a good surface for decals and panel washes after you're finished painting

Also, matte coats tend to look best. Matte coating painted spoons is also useful for practice
>>
>>6000556

So wait go out and buy spoons to paint and see how it looks? Also what do you mean by future? And when would you apply the top coat? I assumed you do it at the very end, but you make it sound like you apply it then check and paint.
>>
questions:
- can i do Krylon top coat, wait it till total dry & apply Mr Hobby matte coat for finishing?
- can 2 different matte coat mixed together, in any conditions?

Mr Hobby matte coat come in small can & expensive while Krylon come in big & cheap.
plan to do something crazy, or sort of that with those 2.
>>
>>6000566
Yeah, plastic spoons are a common test bed. You can check the colour (if you mixed the paint), and consistency (thinning), without fucking up your model.
Future: http://www.swannysmodels.com/TheCompleteFuture.html
You apply a clear coat after you're finished painting to create a smoother surface for decals to adhere to as well as for paint to flow for panel washes. This also protects the paint underneath. You apply a top coat on top of all of that (usually matte) as a last step

>>6000572
From what I've heard, krylon top coat is pretty shit for models, but you can get away with using their "primer". If you want something cheap, see if you can get Testors top coat. It's a bit trickier to use, but you can get good results from it. Tamiya is also an option, but probably also more expensive than what you want. If you need a gloss coat, see the site I linked above.
>>
>>6000576

Krylon is shit for top coats. Both their matte and gloss are just plain bad for the smaller model scale.

The pour type gundam markers aren't really that useful. If you mean the panel lining ones, they're alright. Not quite sure what you mean by clean also. If you want to get rid of ink, try rubbing alcohol if you haven't. If you want to get a better look for the vents, get some black acrylic paint, a fine tipped brush, and some rubbing alcohol and paint them.

Get some taste?
>>
>>6001350
build kits from FSS.
>>
>>6001320
wait, is that denubbing you're talking about?
isn't that dremel useful for drilling or crafting surfaces as well, provided correct tools & adapter used?
or such thing not exist for portable type, except industrial grade?
>>
>>6001318
Yeah, i've been using rubbing alcohol but the problem is that the vent spaces are so small it's hard to get in there and remove what I want to remove. I may try your suggestion and paint it up. I already have some black Vallejo paint along with primer and thinner I got a while back. Do you think I'll need to prime such a small recessed area?
>>
>>6000415
>Suit specific right after we just had a GM build
>Color-specific after how little turnout there was for White/Pink/Gold
>No clarification on what shit supplies is (Like a rundown beat up MS or a kit made with dollar store tools?)

Series Specific is the only logical choice
>>
>>6001365
>is that denubbing
It's anything to do with plastic, from cutting to filing to drilling.

In case it wasn't clear the first time:

Use hand tools for superior results.

Leave Dremel for pumpkin carving.
>>
>>6001371
Shit build is an idea that's been tossed around before.

You know those really terrible builds you see where they basically painted it with unthinned cheapo testors and a crap black nylon brush? Go get those supplies and try to make a nice looking build with them as a test of skill.
>>
>>6001370
What I do is physically scratch off the excess ink with the tip of my cutter. This leaves barely noticeable scratch marks on the plastic, which can be hidden by topcoat I believe
>>
>>6000415
Due to a lot of confusion, I think the shit builds option needs clarification, even just a quick one on the poll saying something like "i.e. using bad quality tools and supplies as best you can." It should probably be included in the poll and in the post as well because who knows what people actually read or they just see a poll and immediately vote. I was one of the guys who was all for this option when it was thrown around in past threads, but I imagine not everyone keeps up with all discussion.

It'd probably be better to make a new poll come next thread and put it in the usual build post 2nd/3rd from the top so everyone can see it.

Ok so after making a HG and MG and fucking up both, with lots of nubs and some broken pieces like Tallgeese's packs, I'm desperate to make a proper HG kit that I can be proud of.

I have:
Xuron snippers
X-acto Hobby Knife
400 grit sandpaper
Black fine point Gundam marker/pen for panel lining
Testors Laquer Spray/Clear Top Coat

Anythign else I need? If I wanted to paint boosters/thrusters, would I need to douse the entire kit in primer and then paint the entire kit or can I pick and choose?

Which suit has the deepest squat?

I need it for some unrelated slavposting.

Why is it the Zeonic suits have all the sexy curves? There any federation models like that? Less boxy designs i mean.

feddies are amateur builders who use flat surfaces because they are easier

I think the problem with the shit supplies build is that it likely appeals to the people who are already good, because it's like a no big deal silly challenge, whereas many people are trying to gitgud and this seems like the opposite direction

for the record I love the idea
>>
>>6001278
Too bad it doesn't have the option to stop looking so FUCKING good.

Good entries at least, sorry I didn't have the time to do one, I liked the SD theme
>>
>>6000175

another unrealistic (due to difficulty) group build I would love is >hg never

only 1/144 kits with no modern HG

I dont know anon, I feel almost a bit bad about buying up so many Zeon kits. I just really enjoy the Beetle-like design of things like the Kampfer, or the Gelgoogs weird headpiece and dual beam saber.

Yesterday I bought my first gunpla, today I started building it.

I know little to nothing about gundman but I'm having fun building this thing.

I wish I had more time to finish this today, but I can barely spare an hour a day to do this. It should be finished by the end of the week.

Does anyone know if there are any decent mechs (pref armored core, but I like lots of shit) available in sort of 5 inches or under? Preferably around 4 inches?
Only thing i can find in that range is mostly the SD style stuff for armored core, is there a keyword I'm supposed to be looking for since everything too big is all "1/72" scale.
>>
>>6002600
did you try 1/144 scale
