Yeah, I use BBTS a lot. Everything I've ordered always takes 2 days to ship, and they don't ship on weekends usually either.

Is this a new thing? Cause previously I'd order an item and it shipped next day. But admittedly I haven't ordered anything from them in probably a year.

Not that I know of. Been ordering for a while now, always takes them about two days to get stuff out.

My scrapper has a weird squeaky knee, articulation all around isn't very good. The transformation is also extremely simple and feels more like a chug voyager than a masterpiece.

Fingers were also loose as shit, gun peg was way too big so it had to be sanded down to fit in the vehicle peg. The thigh joins are loose too and can't bear his weight, so no dynamic poses. The chest crest looks like it could be mounted as a shield, but it doesn't hold well at all.

For 100$, I expected a much better quality, and I know the later figures needed repairs too. Not worth it for the size and working treads.

Saw TFSource only had 1 left so I impulse bought him. I already have the regular Vulcan but it was such a fucking amazing toy and Hephaestus was just the right level of over-the-top and tacky with his deep red, sexy silver, garish gold, and that nuclear green that I couldn't resist him. I'm super excited.

Anybody else have him? Anything I should expect as far as improvements or detriments over the original figure or is he a carbon copy with a new coat of paint?

Also, does anybody know what the story behind this guy is? I know Takara released FoC Grimlock in these colors so Planet X is just following suit but is there any sort of lore related reason for his existence?

That happened to one of the fold-out handles on my Cynicus. I repaired it by taking out the screw. gluing the sheared-off ring onto the stub, and rescrewing, but it's pretty far from being a load-bearing piece like a foot on a big guy like Carnifex.

Sucks, man. Now I'm nervous.
>>
>>5995145
>>5995583
It looks like the screws didn't get screwed in far enough or they were too short to get good traction all the way through both pieces?

shitty diagram.png
11KB, 498x541px
>>5995694
Shitty MSPaint diagram incoming.

The screws are technically long enough for the hole, IF the column was more structurally stable. Since it isn't, a bit shears off and gets stuck inside the hole of the piece that's screwed on, and the exposed part of the screw is now too short and tapered to get a decent grip on the other part.

Also it's super hard to take that shitty bit out of the hole, because it's screwed in but not fastened to the outer hole, and when you turn the screw the shitty bit turns too. You need to stick a pair of pliers in there and pin the bit down while you unscrew the screw. I needed an extra pair of hands to do it.

I avoid moving the handle on my Cynicus, anon is probably gonna have to get his Carnifex foot replaced. I wouldn't even bother trying the fix, that's too much weight on those pegs for them to hold.

Is MMC using screws that are too fat? Should they make those plastic columns thicker? I don't know what factor is causing the shear to happen but they need to fix it.
>>
>>5994327
Oh I'm interested then. I really want a decent MP God Ginrai since the Xovereign was shit and Takara will make an official probably after I died of old age in 100 years.
>>
>>5995746
Man what a ridiculous problem but that's a great diagram, thanks.
Now I'm paranoid about my Carnifex though, I wonder if I were to reinforce the column really well with epoxy resin would that help protect it,
>>
>>5995822

Hopefully it's just an isolated incident of a screw not being in too far and not something thats going to happen again.

Worried about mine as well now though.
>>
>>5995746
>>5995840
I wonder if just replacing the screws with longer ones before anything happens would prevent this.

>I'm impressed they even managed that level of quality. He's better than MP Star Saber.

I'm not too surprised, I think MP Star Saber was made to restrict itself onto a strict budget. I think the limit for MP releases has been drawn at MP-10's MSRP of 22000 yen or so. Ultra Magnus and Star saber, despite being much bigger, cost less at around 18000 MSRP. Optimus has the giant trailer, sure, but it's not that complex. We know MP Ultra Magnus' budget was reigned in since Shogo Hasui had issues designing it with the budget he was given.

I think any of the MP options on the fan poll where going to be limited to a certain budget, hence why Star Saber feels kinda cheap. Its a good thing Fort Max didn't win, because we'd have probably gotten a Fort Max that was Ultra Magnus sized.
>>
>>5996174
Grinder, Sovereign and Lupus all look pretty much final. Why are the release dates still so far away?
>>
>>5996213
Ultra Magnus at least feels decently complicated in hand.

I love how his cab folds up and how all the wheels tuck away, completely hiding the alt mode.

Also, the fact that the trailer can come off in vehicle mode is amazing.
>>
>>5996230

>FT
>Getting things done quickly

I'm almost convinced they're actually a front for Takara or something with how slow their release schedule is. They shit out three toys a year max.

>>5996234

I don't know what happened with SS but he really does feel like junk. Magnus was no where near that level of mediocrity.
>>
>>5994206
Fuck man that's so close to being good. The legs and feet are excellent but the shoulders are way too high and I'm not too fond of the chest and wheels sticking out. It looks like Hi-Q is just hanging on the front of him a opposed to pressed into his chest

>I don't know what happened with SS but he really does feel like junk. Magnus was no where near that level of mediocrity.

Because from all the interviews apparently they made SS to be played with and not just transformed once and then displayed. So they chose to make it with molded plastic than paint so people won't be afraid to play with theirs on the account of the toy accidentally getting paint chips and shit.

Then again it could be all BS cause of MSRP restrictions even though Takara doesn't really have one from what I know.

Just got feral Rex in the mail. What am I in for?
>>
>>5999193
A good time. Sore hands. Looking up how to transform some parts of him 'cause the instructions aren't the best.

Some things I didn't know from the instructions:

Leo Dux's back cannons can detach so they can be put on his forearms.

It seems like the individual predacons can't hold the weapons - they totally can. It's just a tight fit. At least the guns, I haven't been able to get any of them beyond Leo Dux to comfortably hold their melee weapons, so it's just pegging them into forearms.

When in gestalt form, you'll need to extend Rex's thighs to get the butt-plate fully secured, then you can re-shorten them.

>>
>>5999231
No, MMC. I'm saying the guns slide into their hands tight, but most of the melee weapons don't seem to enjoy the same snugness. I can fit all the weapons into any of their hands, but I don't like them hanging in there loosely. Would prefer them snugly mounted somewhere, whether hand or peg.

Maybe I'm just not pushing it hard enough though, super worried to try some times.

I kinda wanted one of these until I saw that he's locking all of the other characters behind the highest reward tier AND making them KS exclusive. What if I'd rather have one of the other characters but don't want to pay out the ass to get all the ones I don't want with it? What if I plan to collect them all if the project is successful but don't have the budget to buy them all at once and would only be able to buy like, 1 per month? This basically fucks a lot of people who otherwise would have wanted in on this for just a few of the figures. He's basically holding the rest of the characters hostage. This is bullshit KS practices at their worst. He's probably fucking himself over by doing this too. If he just had reward tiers for each character and THEN had the bundle, I bet people would be more inclined to back it, knowing that they can actually choose what they want.
>>
>>5999857

There are two big steps to look out for an you may need to cut a few tabs to make things fit snugly but it was enjoyable. He's not as shiny silver like the pictures though. He's a dull gray.

I already fixed mine and I only spent about 60 mins and $0. For the arms, I just added the usual floor polish and that was the end of that. Didn't even need to open the arms because the polish seeps in the crevice easily enough. For the legs, I just cut circles out of some thin cardboard medicine packaging. You just need add a layer every time to see how much tension you want.

People have said to loosen the 3 top screws of the legs because it comes packaged in really tight.

LOL The top latch doesn't do shit. The actual connectors that latches on are the 2 on the sides and the 2 small tabs to the 2 small holes at the back. The top and the bottom latches don't do shit.

I got all of these from watching about 4 reviews and reading the tfw thread because as much as I'm not a forum goer, they have their uses.

One person here broke theirs. I haven't seen any other reports of breaking, unless you have. In which case, link it, man, so we can read and be informed.
>>
>>6002345
Guy who broke his here.

I want to be clear and say that Carnifex is a fantastic figure. I'm not entirely sure how the screw holes connecting the foot to the leg on mine snapped but I've had zero other issues with the toy after figuring out how those damn shoulder bits work in transformation.

Hell, even with a foot missing he still stands and poses pretty well on my desk.

Still waiting on TFsource to mail me back with what they're going to do about it though.
>>
>>6002077
I ordered the replacement ratchets.

For now I've just rotated his thighs so his knee joints bend outwards. The hip joints more or less support the weight okay and with the thighs turned he can maintain a proper a stance at least.
>>
>>6002345
>They're tight because they tab in.
I knew they tabbed in but they were extremely difficult to pry apart the first time, that's all.
>>
>>6002357
You said that already on the official thread and I already told you my own reasoning for just going the cardboard route.
>>
>>6002365

Oh, yeah. Mine are too. I was just saying it's because they tab in, thats why.
>>
>>6002370
Really impressed with him though. Weighs alot more than I was expecting as well but then I don't have a whole lot of experience with 3rd party stuff yet.
>>
>>6002378

Yeah, he's definitely a favorite of mine. Just, the guy who broke his has me worried even if I haven't seen anyone else saying they broke his.

I'm just a paranoid fuck in general though.
>>

Should I buy him or wait for Grinder?

Aw man, that Grimlock is a total cutie in dino mode.

I was satisfied with my old Hasbro release, but I'm kinda debating. Mine doesn't have the gun so I doubt I can even get a lot for him.

Huh. That is an improvement over the original.

MP8 or Reximus

Counterpoint: Grinder's proportions are off and it's less accurate. Also we know nothing about the transformation and poseability.

Why they don't straight retcon the chrome silvers and gold to that wonderful sheen is beyond me.
>>
>>6003466

Thats actually why I wanted the FP (was it FP?) Not-Dinobots. Those silver/gold paints looked much less susceptible to all of the fuckery that can happen with chrome, and they were still very shiny looking.

Unfortunately the FP Dinobots ended up not being so great.

Neither are right, but MP-08 has the better aesthetic, and less noticeable joints. MP-08 gets the legs right, FT gets the head right (even though it looks awful in comparison, it's more accurate). Both of them have fuck huge shoulders inspired by the comics and not the animation. Who cares. They are toys, buy what you want.
>>
>>6003492

Honestly, if I could nab them for $50 a pop I'd probably be fine with them. But for $85-90 each? Nah.
>>
>>6003477
I think that looks great except the hip/upper thigh area needed to be a little more bulked up.
>>

you and me both. I get hexatron for a day them I found out about this one, iron factory, and GDW03.

still love hexatron though. good time to be a sixshot fan
>>
>>6003527

You aren't alone in this criticism. I don't see the issue as it's legs are proportionally the same on him as the MP and people don't seem to have an issue with it. Even relative to Grinder's larger size his thighs are proportionally larger than the MP's even.

I think it's the wider boots on Grinder that makes the thighs look out of proportion for some people. I dunno. Looks pretty perfect for me.

I'm thinking of getting the currently on-sale x-Ray and gun set as my first 3rd party kit and have some questions.

Can I use the weapons with my hastak tf's?

Are there any qc issues with x-ray?

Can I paint the plastic or does it have a finish applied out of the box?

Thank you for your time, /3ptg
>>
>>6003504
>$85-90 each?
I had 3 of them and I can say with confidence that they were NOT worth $90 each. In fact none of the current non MP dinobots are worth their asking prices except maybe Planet X's swoop.
>>
Just got Carnifex. Getting him into jet mode is a fucking nightmare. There are so many clearance issues and so many unnecessary tabs that need to lock in just the right way or else they'll snap off. I fucked up the tabs in his backpack when I was trying to position the wing-tips downward and now he won't hold together properly. The backpack doesn't slide down properly to transform him into jet, it always gets stuck halfway and then there are two tabs that hold his jetpack in that keep coming untabbed when I try to slide it down that just completely ruin the experience of what could be a great transformation. Getting the shield/buckler pieces to form the cockpit is a nightmare as well. That being said, he looks good in robot mode but his foot snapped off while I was transforming him and there's no way of fixing it. I tried going slow with this figure, I really did. The overall plastic quality is great and feels about 20% better than Hasbro's but man....so many missteps with this guy.
>>
>>6004103
Oh yeah, the robot legs keep popping off at the thigh when I try to bend them upwards.

I don't know if this is a troll or you're the unluckiest motherfucker alive or something. Lets see some pics Anon. I want to see just how badly you fucked everything up.
>>
>>6004118
>>6004114
Like, quality on the plastic is great(save for the left foot)and he looks amazing in all of his modes. It's just that there are so many tabs and areas where there's barely any clearance to move them and his arms needing to be positioned just right in order for you to not break something off. Also, the transformation that MMC recommends for the robot mode head has created friction scratching on his antlers bashing up against the jet mode cockpit.
>>
>>6004127
Wow, you even snapped the same foot I did.
>>
>>6004129
It might be a running problem.

>>
>>6004129

>>
>>6004140
I'm going to contact MMC and see if I can order a replacement leg. As for now, just be very careful with your Carnifex's. I was trying not to ham-hand mine and still did it.
>>
>>6004142
still waiting on TFsource to get back to me on what they are actually going to do about mine. Last I heard they were looking into what their options were.
>>
>>6003835
Please responce
>>
>>6003835
The individual weapons are 5mm compatible, yes.

As far as X-Ray goes, the finish looks fine but you can paint it if you like. There are some bits that need to be shaved down, so don't force things, especially the thigh swivels. I remember Emgo broke his in several places, but he is an idiot with sausage fingers so take that into account.
>>
>>6003286
It's either that or nothing since nothing else scale with them.

>>6004127
Plastic quality is the same everywhere on the figure. It's just bad engineering.
>>
>>6004139
Still waiting on those pics.
>>
>>6004103
>>6004127
I've only transformed him once and back, but this is basically my thoughts exactly on it. Going into it I knew everyone was saying the shoulders are a nightmare, but really it's the backpack. Getting it to slide up and down is a nightmare, and the actual plastic on the white hinges is incredibly thin/flexible. It's the only thing on him that actually feels cheap, and it's ridiculous complexity only compounds the fragility. I'm basically just gonna leave him in robot mode forever, which isn't bad because his alt modes weren't even on my radar, but it's also bullshit because I shouldn't have to.

>>6004129
>>6004114
>>6004132
I'm also waiting on foot pics, because I'm hoping I can unscew something and do preventative maintenance on it before it happens to me. I noticed his ankles were incredibly stiff out of the box, and I immediately could see it being a problem.
>>
>>6004463
>>6004732
starting to believe that guy was a troll building off what he read about the one real broken foot
>>
>>6004787
It's possible, but even if no one had mentioned it I'd still be shitting my pants every time I tried to move his feet. I can honestly say I've never seen a tighter joint on an action figure.
>>
>>6004732
The backpack sliding has a really simple solution.

What's holding it in the up position are tabs on the wings so you just open it up and fold out the wings slightly and it should slide just fine.
>>
>>6003926
Dude, Planet X's Vulcan (Grimlock) is totally worth the asking price. The engineering is fantastic, the transformation is neat, the articulation is probably the best we've gotten from any Grimlock, and they did a really good job with screen accuracy. Sure, some liberties were taken, but he's great representation of FoC Grimmy.
