Export the .lxf to Bricklink.

If not, simply start throwing things together. Work towards the shapes that you see. When you're finished, export the .lx file to Bricklink.

You can do this! That train is the perfect way to start building. Just get your bricks out and try making it as close as you can. Don't worry about colors at first. You'll surprise yourself.
>>

If you're gonna be building that IRL, you're probably gonna need to substitute some of your colors, since I don't think some of those pieces exist in those colors.

Different anon here. Do you have the game, or care about it at all? The Dimensions community on Reddit has developed a spreadsheet that gives you the best combinations of pack for your character preferences.

Do you just want the minifigs and maybe the parts and builds included? Well now what you get depends purely on the franchises you like and the sets you already own.

For example, if you're a Ghostbusters fan, you probably already have one of the two Ecto-1s or the Firehouse. Owning either of the Classic GB sets means you don't need the Venkman Level Pack; owning the Firehouse would mean that you don't need the Slimer Fun Pack either; and owning the new Ecto-1 means you wouldn't need the Story Pack. I'd say that the Staypuft Fun Pack is a must no matter your combination of sets; he's a neat minifig, and the Terror Dog build is the best.

TL;DR: What franchises in Dimensions do you like?
>>
>>5984693
afraid not, i usually just shoot from the hip as far as MOCs go

>>5984678
generally i'm a cheapass and i've been getting the toy pads separately from bricklink. i did pick up a few of the smaller packs that were heavily discounted on amazon that had figs that i don't have or are otherwise unique (so far) to dimensions. the most unique one is probably chell's since she doesn't exist in any other iteration and the cube/sentry builds are also very cool

What scale do you like? Minifigure scale? Large stuff? Microbuilds?
>>
>>5985880
I like Robutts/Mechs, don't have a preference between building my own stuff and building sets. Don't know what a microbuild is.

>>5985879

>>5985885
If you're not intent on starting on the cheap end of 3-in-1 sets, the Vacation Getaways is pretty damn great.
>>
>>5985890
Looks pretty nice, minifigures look a bit expensive on their own, so sets with a few included seem like a good thing
>>
>>5985885
If you likes robutts/mechs, check out mixels. More specifically, the mixels that have the small grey ball-joints or towball joints. Other joints that are handy for robots that are a bit heavier are the ones in the Nexo knights Kings and Black knight mechs that are out right now. There are probably a few manned robots and dragons with these joints in the Ninjago sets.

Microbuilds are builds that are in a smaller scale than in scale with minifigs.

Alright here's what you're gonna do, go out and buy future flyers(pic related) and all 3 of either the white mixels(dentists) or the orange ones(ninjas) depending on your choice of color preference. This will give you more than enough pieces to make yourself a decent looking mech/robot.

Bricklink has better prices, but i wouldn't reccommend it to someone with little to no experience with lego.
Just stick to retail or local secondhand sellers for now.

Towball joints are the smaller balljoints that are found in some mixels (pic, top)

The older and more big balljoints have more friction and can support more weight, these can be found in the sets like i mentioned earlier and Bionicle and stuff. (pic, lower)

Bricklink is amazing though, but i really had to put some time and effort into getting the hang of how the site works. If you get more serious about building your own stuff it will become the most valuable tool to you to get things done. But first you'll have to build up atleast a bit of a repertoire of knowledge of bricks. A plan of what you want to build thought out beforehand helps too.

I reccommend watching reviews of sets you think are interesting on youtube from Jangbricks or something. This will give you knowledge of what kind of pieces exist out there and basic building techniques and inspiration. Mocs (my own creations) you find on the internet can secretly use some movie magic bullshit or modified pieces and mad fragile constructions, legos own stuff is mostly sturdy and legit. If you at one point owned lego in the past, prepare for massive nostalgia bombs.

Eventually you can make it to a point where Bricklink is the logical next step for you, but be prepared to rape your wallet since the site is crazy addicting.
Have fun anon, LEGO can be a hell of a ride.

It's the only reviewer i know of that shows sets very in depth, has proper lighting and camera quality, doesn't have an annoying voice, doesn't shoehorn edgy humour in his videos(maybe except for him gushing over his knifesonas) and has very large amount of sets he reviewed.

Watching him sperg out over his mocs is kinda fun too.

Just2good keeps uploading clickbaity top 10 videos that i don't care about and i don't like his reviews and opinions as much.
Brickshow was a bit of an unplanned mess that kept showing his face, talking about resell value and his kids running around.

Both have pretty good imagequality and show the sets well though. I just prefer Jang.

That is how the ballgag looks like. The seller made them for custom Pulp Fiction minifigs and also sold them separately.

The mini skirt is from minifigforlife.

The cheapest knockoff Minions minifigs sell for $5 on Aliexpress full set of 8. Try adding 'single sale' to the search.

PARTS REVIEW:
A couple pretty rare parts from my last bricklink order. Neither of these are truly rare, but they're rare enough that I can't recall ever seeing one in a MOC online.

3062old - Lipless / continuous 1x1 round brick - No Bottom Lip - on the right of pic related. These were a disappointment. I thought they would have potential as a smooth tube, in the same way as the chrome cylinders (71076 and 71075). Only problem is, they have no clutch with each other. I could only get one pair from the whole pile to stick together. The bottom DOES have clutch with modern studs. Maybe the studs on these old bricks are smaller?

Besides that issue, they have overall very high variance, the bottoms are not flat. A 5-tall stack is visibly leaning, and the bottom is visibly out of line just looking at one.

Not recommended - even if you can the bottom to attach to modern bricks, you will have a hard time continuing construction on top of that. These are less than 10 cents each if you want to try them out yourself.
http://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=3062old

Big ass cone - ID 272 - on the left. This is a novelty, but its tolerances do seem to be up to modern standards. If anything the top stud is a bit too large, but it fits in all modern pieces I've tried it in. It doesn't have the axle connecter found on modern cones, but it hase a few connection points on the bottom. A stud fits firmly in along the circumference of the bottom.
I have to build with this first, but tentatively recommended. These are more expensive, I paid 1.50 euros each, which seems to be roughly average.

Got a bootlego Iron Man. Guess which one?

Good enough quality. Joints have some friction but not tight. Hands came in the normal red color instead of the dark red of the rest of the fig. The gold paint on the face plate has the gold sparkles instead of the smooth metallic look. Not bad, just different. The printing looks like a combination of different Iron Man minifigs, but this is the first one I've seen with the triangular arc reactor port.

I'd still say that for $0.65, it's hard to go wrong. This could definitely be part of an Iron Legion, but it can imagine being unable to ignore dose hands.

Sorry for potato photo.

They might've come in black in the simpsons Quick-e Mart set dumpster IIRC.
If not, i do have a dark brown one that looks vaguely like a garbage bag.

And yeah, Aquazone would be cool to bring back. The Atlantis sets had cool fish and fishpeople (that almost made up for us never seeing these >>5988118 sets... ALMOST)
they also had decent and ok builds i guess. But i didn't really like the diving suits and colourscheme of the humans.
They were perfect fodder for new-age M-Tron mocs though, but i never really got into that theme as much.

Loved it. They didnt use it as a vehicle to shove black lives matter bullshit down everyones throats or use it as a chance to scream "FUCK DA POLICE" as much as possible (in fact, a lot of it was the OPPOSITE, "I want to see black kids going one step forward, not two steps back", etc etc etc).

Only complaint was Method Man comparing Luke to Trayvon, but it was one line in a song, so not a real big deal. Luke Cage is definitely a POSITIVE role model for them, IMO.

Wow, that Caterham looks awesome. I hadn't seen that one before.

I just picked up and built my first Lego set in probably 15-20 years. I'm a former Porsche mechanic and kind of a fanboy, so when I saw a set with a 917 I couldn't resist. (Wish it was Gulf colors, though.)

I'm blown away by the details in this set, too. So many cool little things that the average person might not think of, either somebody at Lego is a big racing fan or they really did their research.

I'm also really impressed that they did nearly the whole thing with standard parts. I got out of Lego around the time they were starting to get into licensed sets, and their kits might as well have been snap together models for all the single-use custom pieces they were made of.

That mobile space lab looks comfy like old exploration sets, the alien ships are pretty good and look Mars Mission-esque, and there's Alien Conquest AND mining for crystals/fossils type of stuff (though no item anywhere it looks like) crossed with Space Police. It's a wise move. If you're going to bring back a classic theme, get some of everything people liked about it instead of phoning it in with the most basic iteration possible like the last Castle theme. There's something for every Space fan in this.

You know those are clone brand Legos, right
>>
>>5990106
Honestly, at this point, I think they have gaduated from "clone brand" to "direct competitor".

First a competent pirates theme, and now space?

I give it five years before they are completely stateside as a full on company.

It also has lightbrick.
Dino will cost as much as the Dragon, and the robot will cost as much the small Beach house.

Ms. Marvel has stretch powers, Anon.
>>
>>5990749
I don't know my capeshit, but that's still a bit silly.
>>
>>5990749
Since when? I only recall her being able to fly and have superhuman strength I don't remember Mr. Fantastic like abilities.
>>
>>5990751
Wolverine has metal-wrapped bones and magic knife hands. Superman is an alien who can fly or jump real good, depending on the writer, shoot heat lasers, breath coldness, and move at superspeed, among other things. Rocket Raccoon is a raccoon. MOST superheroes are a bit silly at least in concept; it's the writing that makes a good superhero, and Ms. Marvel has some damn good writing.
>>
>>5990755
No, you're thinking of the first Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers, now Captain Marvel. The character in the set is Kamala Khan, the new Ms. Marvel, who has minor shapeshifting powers.
>>
>>5990763
Oh, I keep forgetting there was a torch passing, my bad.
>>
>>5990764
Nah, this sort of stuff is confusing. On a more thread-relevant note, how do you think those stretchy arms work? It looks to me like a flexible tube goes all the way through the torso with a proper arm on each end, so you can pull it through to change her arm lengths.
>>
>>5990768
I think those are like the tail pieces used in previous sets, just now given a connection to a minifig, but I could be wrong.
>>
>>5990768
>It looks to me like a flexible tube goes all the way through the torso
Modern torsos don't allow bars to pass through the center between armholes. You have to go back a few decades to get torso pieces that allow that.

>>5990781
This is probably correct. Opens up a lot of exciting new possibilities.

Orange Ultraman Warrior, from Lago!

Came in a set with other, more recognizable Ultraman minifigs. Has a pole-arm weapon, for some reason. Probably the same reason KO C3-P0 comes with a lightsaber.

Every mockup of Lego box art is listed at 442 pieces. It's just placeholder text.

Has anyone ever seen a way to paint LEGO pieces that actually looks good? I'd really like to recolor some pieces or at least simulate prints on a few pieces.

Hey LG first time making a MOC in a while and honestly it's more like an update to a set. I got Gobbol today and was excited to shove some minifigs in him for a joke but he only had one stud of space in him so I opened LDD and made this updated larger Gobbol. What do you think guys.
