For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

SD Group Build

Rules:
Pick up an SD anything, plane, Gundam/other MS, whatever, if it's generally an SD it counts (so I hope to see someone do a D-Style). Obviously, per all group builds, you'll want to paint it.

Submissions:
Email it to [email protected]
USE AN ACTIVE EMAIL ADDRESS

Due Date: November 1st

Good news! A kind anon has purchased some prizes for the group build. He has decided to do a random drawing rather than judge them like I did in the previous group build. Winners will be contacted via email.

For those curious, I intend to start the secret Santa signups on October 1st.

Secret Santa

It's that time of year again. Just look at the form and fill it out. Signups last until December 1st, pairs go out in the days after that.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdprprkU_4UBARdot0ASSmoUoxghk9bOPVuRrvZKfghAZQRbg/viewform?c=0&w=1

A few things:
-Use an active email, I don't want to be hounding you and then have to repair someone.
-Use your full address, I don't know every damn city and zip code in the US.

A new option, Cards Only. If you pick this you're assumed to be willing to ship international (it's a card after all). It doesn't have to be a handmade card, just something nice. Of course handmade is nicest, but not everyone has the skills for it.

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdprprkU_4UBARdot0ASSmoUoxghk9bOPVuRrvZKfghAZQRbg/viewform?c=0&w=1

As always, I'm available here, on IRC, or at [email protected].

Like, are the performance based on the performance of the suits in fiction? What about shit that doesn't exist in established fiction?
>>
>>5976785
main characters just apply a plot armor coating to their kits
>>
>>5976785
Gunpla each have a base performance level and can vary in stats based on the design itself (and example given in the show is that beginning gundam is very quick and agile even oob). But the more you detail, paint, and put work into your gunpla the better its performance will be overall. Modifying and scratchbuilding can also augment and give new abilities on top of the performance boost.

Step 1. Find diameters of relevant mounting slots and pegs on the frame
2. Use rubber cement to temporarily mount pegs into the slots
3. Mark the ends of the slats and pegs and press the armor pieces in, and note where the impressions are.
4. Whittle the new pegs
5. Fit the new test pegholes and slot ends, etc
6. Mount armor pieces onto inner frame

And no mutilation of the inner frame happened.

The barbatos frame and gusion frame have some differences in where stuff like the armor pegs into the frame and the the joints and feet frame. In series they are supposed to be identical frames but bandai made some differences to gusions frame to get the Gusion -> Rebake gimmick to work.

You can modify the gusion and barbatos frames to get the parts to fit around them and glue them on though.

The reason I like the GM for it is that I'd mark the sharp edges of the torso with gold. I do think that a black Guncannon with gold rings on the gun barrels might be interesting if I can figure out good compliments to the otherwise pure black paint scheme.
I'm game for any OYW Feddie suit really, the RX-78-2 excluded.
Actually I'd say 0080 is fair game too.

Finally got around to cleaning up and panel lining Amazing Red Warrior.
Alot nicer now and I guess I rushed him or did it when i was tired so he had spots to file down, marker in to hide nubs and panel line.

Goodnight friends. May our seams be well welded, our nubs safely clipped and whittled down, our paints thinned and our days and nights happy. May we awake to a world with Gunpla Battle, even if not for a near thirty year old manchild like me, but for a lot of the model building kids and adults in the world. Be well.

Sorry for late reply:
RG Z'Gok is one of the more solid RG kits, mostly due to simplicity, but it does have couple of armor pieces that are on a loose side (can be plastic cemented if you like, since they have no impact on articulation, and they generally stay together if abit rough on figure). In terms of how well all pieces hold together, it's worse than: Exia, MkII, and Astray, but better than most RGs. It's not too light (weight wise) and posability is great (check dalong or another review site for this), weight has great distribution and the fatty limbs help with being able to pose comfortably even doing crazy two arm stands with no attachments. It feels like a complete improvement over the HG in every way.
If it proves anything, it's that the more simple grunt suits would make for amazing RG releases.

Ofcourse instead we get RG Shinanju (despite Bandai saying no Shinanjus or Unicorns because too fragile), which seems to fall apart as easily as the RG Seed Kits (as in Freedom and Strike Freedom and less Justice and Destiny). Sure it looks good, but I can just paint and modify my HG which will not have any pieces fall apart nor have any issue posing. The choice to use a tiny MkII frame is disgusting considering the size of this figure. I do like the tiny little detail with the inner beam-sabers and extra mobile parts that expand which HG lacks, but like I said: I can just make my own resin modifications if I really wanted it.

Working on Qubeley revive version. I love how most of the pink or blue bits are molded seperately. I hate stickers with a passion. Unfortunately the shoulder binders and eyes are still stickers, so I decided to paint just those parts. I managed to match the pink pretty well, I think.
In this particular instance I found it easier to paint it directly on the runner, since it held the pieces together more securely. Since I'm not going to be painting the rest of it, priming wasn't an option anyway.

Super Fumina was a mess to begin with. Figma has proven the best way to do anime eyes is just decals on a flat surface with exchangeable faceplates for different faces/expressions. Even with the new Figurise busts relief sculpting looks off at times and contradicts the flat nature of (especially modern with two tone) anime artstyles.

It was a cheap attempt to cash in on waifushit, designed by guys who don't know how to design waifushit at all. Even professional sculptors frequently go with decal eyes for scale figures, not sure what sort of hubris led Bandai's modeling department to believe they could do better than guys who have dedicated themselves to sculpting statues of anime characters.

The Megashiki is a pretty good kit, only problem is the back weight and its somewhat restricted to torso movement.

hi guys.
i'm read plamo guide, but stil have a question about basic equipment:
i'm need hobby knife, but only place to buy is amiami.
can you recommend me something as good as x-acto?
>>
>>5979825
All of the hobby knives are more or less similar. I used an Excel knife and it was fine, although X-acto has a much more comfortable grip.

Nah, I basically wanted to paint it like the Toronto Maple Leafs, and decided to use an extra RCAF decal I had

Got the basic colors done on this guy, still have more detailing to do like windows and lights, and I'm going to try some rust streaking and other bare metal weathering. Really fun kit with great separation and almost no seams to finish.

For a long time, dalong didn't have anything pre-HGUC, although he is doing some of the super old kits now
>>
>>5980010

you're in luck there are a million pictures of it unpainted out there because they are bought by wing fan casuals who don't care about the model part at all
>>
>>5980002
...paint the kit?
>>
Are the models in the manuals hand painted or are they airbrushed?
>>
>>5980002

Assuming painting has a difficulty of X based on your experience, this kit does nothing to add more difficulty. Like the hi-mock or many of the other origin kits, it's about as easy as it can get to learn because nearly everything separates nicely and has no seams. Maybe the hardest part is that the ball joints rub if you don't account for it.
>>
>>5980059
Most likely airbrushed
>>
>>5980059
>>5980066

they are absolutely airbrushed, sometimes with hand painted details or smaller sections, but usually all airbrush

Just a heads up for those that likes SDs.
Just found out Bandai's reprinting some of their older BB Senshi kits this December, open for PO now on sites like 1999.co.
Some of these kits have been scalped and sold on stores at ridiculous prices.
Some worth mentioning are the Gotaitei Sonken and Genbuso Ryofu Tallgeese which I'm getting.

unlike the other guys who are just saying they don't like it, I will try to point out what I think is the issue

I think the elongated shoulders and the neck being too long for the head makes the whole thing feel very spindly, especially with the already thin waist of the IBO suits

Hey guys,

I'm looking for some help.

I'm looking for pilots (female if possible) for 1/100 & 1/144.
Is there a place where I can buy them without mechas?
Just want to do some conversion work. Does not need to be official Gundam style.
Plus points for sci-fi chicks in tight suits.
