While the body is good and does everything nicely, its clear the head is not meant to be shown on its own between takara or hasbro, that said the painted eyebrows are to help compensate for the fact the eye position doesn't line up on the clear visor, it sorta works but on its own its crap, but would tiny head that's covered by a big helmet mean that much, well that's for you to choose

Anyways, let the slaughter begin

Which is nice because that page in question post all of the other things takara tomy makes and floods the fuck out of your twitter feed, it just means no post of prototype painted figures

Who here gonna astroforce?

I literally JUST got SDCC sentinel prime, oh boy they weren't kidding about the QC with the leg ratchets, though the peg holes on the flaps that connect his wings better accept the pegs from the guns than astrotrain, and unlike astrotrain his molding is actually crisp (but so was retail sentinel prime), yes I like shitty clear plastic, I know about durability, I just like the look.

I now await the legends astrotrain to come in the mail, he'll be the real astrotrain, followed by a drone and some crazy guy obsessed with walls and making cybertron great again

The only complaint about the deco is that paint on the face doesn't allow for mass light piping, which doesn't work with the wings down anyway.

Tempted to scrub off the facepaint since the TM is clear, but I fear I might lose the head in drabness

Since I've never ordered from HTS, I want to ask how they deal with missing parts since that seems to happen shocking often when I order online. Do they send new parts, give me a refund for the figure and sending it back, or do nothing?

Because Blaster is not a fucking Headmaster and nobody should be giving a shit about the gimmick showing this off.

It literally does ZERO for making the toy a more fun experience in consideration of the character.
>>
>>5929203
so would you recommend the titan force set, because the brainstorm looks nice and the sentinel prime will replace the hideous retail version

I actually bought him standalone since I'm getting the legends headmaster crew and wasn't a fan of grey windblade.

If you like each of the figures and the deco why not, sentinel is floppy but his paint apps are nice and despite the flops he poses just as fine as my actual astrotrain (the range of motion isn't that great, he just has a bit of give at the knee's), brainstorm is based off blur and the deco isn't toy nor anime accurate (think its closer to idw) but I heard no issues, only praise.

And from people here rid windblade ain't bad, its the deco that may help you choose
>>
>>5929259
thanks I might buy the set on payday
>>
>>5929209
If you can actually prove you got fucked over, they might even go as far as sending a replacement figure... though it's not guaranteed to be the figure you ordered, instead just another figure from the line they happen to have in stock.

Why are hasbro and takara fans fighting, we should be hating copyright infringing 3p's who barely look like the characters we love, why should budget conscious hasbro fans and cashed up takara fans hate each other for liking what is essentially the same product?

Is this the same shitty mentality the same reasons why people don't like different colors of skin despite being the same creature, are we humans doomed to destroy each other?

To be fair, its unfair how they do it, mp's still have a retail model to follow despite being less restricted than hasbro retail releases, all their cost and engineering account into that.

Then we get 3p's that come along and just "build up" on the existing subject, the corvette mold getting rubber tires, that's nifty though makes me wonder how durable the tires are since they can rot overtime, upscale toys like the mpp10 just make the figure bigger, reinforcing it as required, without the R&D steps and cost takara would of done to begin with meaning they can do shit like that without restraint.

Then we get straight up knockoffs that match or even beat takara retail figures like the takasa tony ones which sell for less as they only need to cover the plastic and profits.

KO's can be better, but ko's can die if the real thing ends up being killed off, better off buying ko's of discontinued products, which is why I'm getting black mpp10 when I get the chance

>>
>>5929591
Early ko's are bad but they're progressively getting better, my advice is get the "branded" ko's, like the bb7/bbq seekers, takasa tony, and so forth, AVOID THE ONES THAT TRY TO MATCH THE ACTUAL BOXES as those are made to disappoint, the first ko starscream was worse than the hasbro version and considering its apparent mold degradation that's a bad thing making it even floppier and even more visible nub marks.

If its from china and its listed itself as a ko but the box doesn't have a "unique" brand or doesn't even tell you its a ko despite being mega cheap avoid unless an anon can specifically vouch for it and the seller

That said qc is just like the real deal, heaps of minor imperfections or "perfect"
>>
>>5929591
Slight differences but nothing major
QC is weaker but you are paying less then half what the official cost so many see that as a fair trade off

There is another coming from...kunonbaio or something which includes the coronation set but they actually changed the back rear fuselage and made it longer which sticks up behind the head which I find strange, otherwise quality between them isn't much different, benscollectables on youtube covered bb7/bbq and the other one I mentioned.

Don't think so, they tried with MP Screamer and it didn't sell well enough, maybe in another 10 years when the Bayverse kids have grown with nostalgia for those designs.
>>
>>5929684
I don't think the market is really there, not the mention that they don't always treat the movie character very well in the films (if they get characterization at all) and so people have a harder time getting attached.

All the same, we didn't have Masterpiece G1 in the 80s, that didn't happen until that generation of fans grew up, so maybe in 2030 we'll have a glorious movie revival nostalgia line.

It's worth noting that some third parties and knock off companies are making some cool movie toys. The Wei Jiang Evasion Prime KO/mod/upscale is a really nice piece. I'd argue it's Masterpiece quality.

They were apparently a mother with a child who returned this, I didn't see them but the supervisor who took it I believe was trustworthy.

We usually test things here, my supervisor just lapsed because she knew nothing about transformers, to show my point I made all the other cashiers operate it.

Now if its to do with toy refunds they come to me, which is annoying because I only know about transformers and diecast cars (had a guy asking what a 5 pack of matchbox cars were made off for his 2yr son, it blew his mind when I told him they were a mix of metal and plastic, blew his mind MORE when I said there was an age rating in which his son didn't meet)

I just shared the numbers she said something to the lines of "another Fortress Maximus today" when I ask if he was having issues everywhere she just stated that since mid September they have been getting a lot of calls and he was already their biggest call in at the help center this year and then she switch to asking me what the issues with mine were.

I assume it's the ones I have seen and read where the thin blue and red plastic parts stress mark easy and the blue frames on the back legs fall of and break rather easily. His head visor is thin and has crack for some people. Also people have broke his arm joint that you have to install out of the box.

>>5929734
take what >>5929739 said and add to the fact they simply have hit a rock in a hard place with sales
Demand for toys is there but they can't raise it to prices that would eliminate the issues they are having because the market won't pay the price. If they made a good FM they likely have to charge $200+ and most of the market that would still pay that would just go third party then. Never mind all the distributors that just wouldn't take the product. The Combiner War gift packs are not most online on purpose, they can't convince Walmart or Target to give up what little toy space they have to giant $100 toy sets that have no real TV show or movie tied to them.

It's the loaded gun of it all, raise the price and you lose your market drop the price and you lose your market slowly.

Fort max himself is a failure in many regards, qc issues of both sdcc and retail max, the fact his "city" mode is based on a failed transformation in a catalog tells me they were limited by the toy they retooled him from.

SDCC's have thinner plastic, and as an owner of that one the face on cerebros is not up to par with the legends one you've posted (its exactly what people complained about, its gummy, even that pic you posted is crisp).

And while legends fort max has a nicer overall deco package the head's deco is kinda bland, while the fortress deco as you posted while anime accurate is a snooze fest, almost akin to hasbro's blurr (and before you think I'm picking sides, sdcc's is accurate to fucking nothing and doesn't pop further than the retail one other than purple shins).

The voice clips are nicer on the legends fort max ill give it that, they just loaded the hasbro one with shitty sound effects and "CEREBROS" and "FORTRESS MAXIMUS" and so forth, what memorable lines from g1 could they of used, that raspy "FORTRESSSS, MAXIMUSSS", fuck no, and the sdcc's tf jingle is less than steller.

Really, if you want a fort max you have choices, but none are perfect, the main point stands, he fails as a retool based on a shitty compromise for a city mode.

>>5929767

>It's the loaded gun of it all, raise the price and you lose your market drop the price and you lose your market slowly.

No, theres one clear answer. Increase the quality and eat the fucking cost of it. Thats right, eat the cost of it, and sell for the same price as ever.

You can't produce shit forever and make shit products and expect people to buy them. At some point you have to buckle down, and just make your product better. You'll eat the cost for it, but you'll create repeat customers once people realize you've stopped being cheap fucks.

A supermarket, Australian specifically, won't say which though but they all have similar return polices.

But it can depend, we can't just outright refuse just because it works (though they can be happier they got educated, prevented a few returned flash lights they thought were broken), we can have people change their mind, in which (depending on the packaging) we either put back on display, or mark it down for clearance.

I noticed though my crew is getting lazier though, I found 2 hotwheels cars loose, left them with the supervisors saying I was gonna find those boxes, found one burred in the customer bin, the other down another aisle (dunno how that happened, should be the toy down there not the box), when I brought the boxes back to "repair" them my department manager threw them in the bin, like she almost did with the one step.

My customers are stupid and my co-workers are getting worse, and they wonder why I insist on doing work task alone

I've only got DotM Prime, he's alright. It's a snap together articulated kit. A little bit of glue would help him, but he's pretty good. The only weapons he has is his swords which mount in his hand sockets or on his arms like in the movies.

AoE Prime gets a lot of flak because his flames are not applied, the only paint work he has is his head, and his hands are not articulated like DotM Prime.

From the TFWIKI, a summary of the Legends Fortress Maximus comic.

Fortress looks back on his past as a non-transforming weapons engineer who left Cybertron with his comrades four million years ago, crash-landing on the inhospitable planet Master. As they did their best to survive, they witnessed another starship crash nearby: studying unknown technology from the wreckage, Fortress was able to develop Headmasters. He went on to construct the battleship Maximus, which was lost in the blackball incident, so now he's rebuilding it in the form of their company HQ.

Unfortunately, the construction costs were so high they had sell off their old HQ, Metroplex, to the Decepticon Tera-Kura Co. While Metroplex accepts this, asking the other Autobots to return home on the Maximus, Ultra Magnus, Chromia and Alpha Trion refuse to leave him behind and instead join the Decepticon company. Tarantulas would rather have Maximus than a sentient office building, however, and plots to steal it by using the Master Sword.

Chromedome has had enough of the Decepticons' encroaching and asks Fortress to wipe them out, calling him a coward when he argues for a peaceful solution, only for Fortress to collapse mid-conversation.

As he lies bedridden, he tells Chromedome the story of why he's ill, starting with the origin of the Headmasters when he discovered the remains of the original "Headmaster system" in the crashed ship. While adopting this technology let the people of Master use large and powerful bodies, they still had to train extensively to develop a type of telekinesis needed to control them, but his Maximus is different, requiring a perfect balance of both physical telekinesis and mental telepathy to control. Attaining such a synchronization drains his life force, which is why he avoided becoming Fortress Maximus until the very last minute during buridanka incident. In tears, Fortress acknowledges that he's a coward who only thinks of his own safety and asks Chromedome to laugh at him, but Chromedome tells him to cut it out: to him, Fortress is the greatest of commanders, having saved his troops many times since then and only kept this secret so that they wouldn't worry about him.

He completes the transformation into Fortress Maximus and fires on Metroplex with his many weapons before using the Master Sword to stab him with such precision as to destroy Tarantulas's control device without injuring his fellow Autobot. He warns Tarantulas that Metroplex may be theirs for now, but next time he tries something like this, he'll find himself cut down by the blade of justice. As he's arrested and taken away, Tarantulas mutters that with Fortress's condition, there may not be a "next time".

In the aftermath, Chromedome asks Fortress if he's okay, and he responds that he's feeling much better after getting his secret of his chest and is satisfied as long as he can protect the Legends world.

So this means Cerebros/Fort Max can only shout their names randomly like pokemon, or the occasional AUTOBOT and DECEPTICON thrown in.

A line with so much potential, ruined by cost-cutting Hasbro execs and lazy Vietnamese factory workers...

Imagine if they just upped the price of deluxes to $20 and gave us better quality toys. And then look at how many people pay almost double the price just for a Takara paintjob. So, /tfg/ I was thinking...what's the golden age of Transformers engineering?

I personally think that the Thrilling 30 line was top tier.
>>
>>5930461
Thrilling 30 was both the top and the bottom. It gave us Springer and Sandstorm. But it also gave us Windblade, Sky-Byte and Blitzwing.
>>
If a 3p could do up a Megatronia that looked as good as the comic Id buy in a heartbeat
>>
>>5930461
As far as engineering, ROTF was the highlight of it. however, they where fucking ugly designs and who cares about complexity or paint apps when the ultimate result is unappealing?

2010 was also a good year for it, but full of nobody characters and some bizarre decisions. The best of them, though, like Jazz and Inferno, really are great, though. So overall I'd say 2010.
>>
>>5930283

The thing is, the shit QC is why Skullcruncher's legs are fucked. It's not a design flaw, it's them moving their factories. And they'd have moved them whether Deluxes cost $5 more or not.

Now, would people pay more for higher quality figures? Yeah, I think they would. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a semi-collector line that averaged $30-60 like Japan does with their waifu figure lines.
>>
>>5930475
I proposed a few years back that they should do an MP AllStars line meant to be sort of a TF version of Robot Damashii/SRC or similar JP figures. Or even what Marvel Legends/DC Icons is steering towards. a line based on a variety of TF lines and designs, not necessarily tied to MP's line direction, but more like taking influence from toys, animation, comic designs, etc. MP engineering and attention to detail, but at a smaller scale, and maybe introducing things like accessories and swappable hands.
>>
>>5930484

Funny part is 3P stuff is slowly steering towards Japanese-style accessories. Quite a few releases are including extra faceplates nowadays. It's nice.

I wish Hasbro would do it for TF. They do it for their Marvel stuff. Then again, that line is also 90% mold re-use and the only actual difference is usually faces and paint because of the way superhero's work from a design standpoint..

>>

I'll start listing the one's I got:

Teletran 15 (essentially a side story connected to Kiss Players through few characters):

-Wheelie's skirt flipping (I don't remember him doing this anywhere else)
-Glit, Sundor, and Rosanna (they also show up Kiss Players Position, but don't do much)

Kiss Players Position:

-Brave Maximus being used to create Headmasters tech (they even redid a panel from it)
>>
>>5930544
It depends on how hard it is, Mindwipe's is REALLY squishy, so I don't see him lasting long. Hasbro learned it's lesson after the RID figures and the later one's last longer (I currenly have the Bludgedon from ROTF and the rubber bits are still there).

And it's not rubbery plastic, Mindwipe definitely has rubber.

What would be a good silver paint marker? I know sharpies smudge if you get handsy with a figure, but they're cheap, easy to find, and long as you're putting it on stuff that won't be touched like hubcaps, it'll almost never need any touchup.

On that note, I actually took a paint pen to my TR Scourge with a deco to mimic the Takara release, and it's held up surprisingly well so far. Doesn't look superb, but the way the paint's layed out there's like no collision/chipping issues so that's pretty cool.
>>
>>5930665
I think you'd probably want something acrylic based. There's these acrylic "painter's pens"- that's literally what they're called that you can find at walmart that might work. I have a purple one I bought for my TR Galvatron's shapeways parts.
>>
>>5930665
People always say get the gundam or tamiya ones because those are proven to be used on toys, but it should be acrylic based from what I know so it doesn't ruin the plastic. Then spray paint on an acrylic sealant(?) as well to seal the paint so it doesn't chip off after a while.

>>5930669
Yeah, I need to buy them still since I keep putting it off. I got a lot of stuff I could repair with that silver paint marker as well.
>>
Did Japan change the way they name their figures? The figures keep their Takara names in Japanese, but have their Hasbro names in English.

For example, Blaster in Japan is called Broadcast, then Twincast, but the instructions have his name as Blaster in English.
>>
>>5930679
Gundam markers only ruin soft abs based plastics if I remember correctly, but generally the stuff is meant to be a harmless alternative for those who can't "paint".

I do prefer acrylics topcoated though over gundam markers

If you're only doing touch ups like eyes and stuff you should be fine with any paint, gundam markers I'm told are alcohol based (supposedly acrylic in nature as well but the only evidence was a reddit link), lacquers and enamels are the ones you need to avoid, neither of which are in pen form.

You should be fine using acrylics top coated afterwards or gundam marker, but be aware if its near a joint section it'll rub off eventually, save it for stuff like eyes and windows than inner leg detail or shit like that

The only media experience I've had with him had been his idw form in infiltration.

>>5930760
He's not bad, just kinda eh. I still plan on getting brainstorm whenever I find him since I hear blurr us the best.

EVERYTHING Hasbro makes has swirly plastic Mr. Sour Grapes.

He said its an earlier shot of the head, quite clearly before it got cleaned up in>>5930746, also looks like bad camera flash made it look worse than it should of.

That said wouldn't surprise me if someone thought it was a good idea to dry brush sentinel prime in silver without doing something with the rest of the body first

Hardhead. Galvatron. Sentinel Prime

This is just from TR Wave 1 btw

Also none of it is nearly as bad as UW Onslaught's.

Try again, master baiter

Fuck.
>>
>>5930788
I actually like Hasbro Blurr's look fine. My issue with him is how difficult it is to match him with a Titan Master of similar colors.
>>
>>5930792
I only saw that response.

Also opinions are subjective

>>5930794
If you are that apprehensive don't settle for less, go without, save money or get what you want.

Here is one from a guy in Australia on ebay for scourge, its your choice to buy it or not

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/G1-TRANSFORMERS-LEGENDS-SERIES-SCOURGE-LG26-/131929637787?hash=item1eb79e839b:g:4B8AAOSwAuZX2eiv

>>5930796
I find he needs more color separation, but he isn't the worst figure out there.

Also hasbro nightbeat would match
>>
>>5930801
Yeah but Nightbeat has... that face. Which might be a fun novelty thing but isn't worth it to me. I'd probably just get Brainstorm who's easier to find alternate heads for.

At this point I've pretty much given up on Nautica. With all the recent QC issues, especially the ones from those G2 box sets, I think we'd be lucky to get two figures in a decent shape from a box of six.
>>
>>5930794
Holy shit even LG Hardhead is starting to go up in price. What the fuck is going on with this line? For the past 2 years people were ignoring the LG stuff for the most part except for the fembots especially Windblade but now the toys have been only out for a month and their prices are already skyrocketing.
>>
>>5930806
Well we won't win either way, either you pay a shitload for more paint and a *chance* you'd avoid qc issues or you pay for something that has a *chance* of high qc issues and minimal paint due to whatever reason.

This is why I'm leaning towards being mp only, apart from hasbro mp's I never been terribly wronged, and even then I'm taking an expensive gamble since they're made in the same factories, I mean the chrome on my hot rodimus is coming off already for fucks sake.

This hobby sucks and I want off this ride
>>
>>5930809
He was still at 28 on ebay (but that was yesterday).
>>
>>5930811
I'm regretting missing out on Highbrow and Chromedome pre-order since I might have to wait till some of my contacts get them in stock or pay the stupid Ebay prices.
>>
>>5930851
Chromedome I can understand, but Highbrow? the Hasbro version looks better, don't know why Takara gave theirs such wide visor.
>>
>>5930854
Why? Because I am trying to have a uniform collection. I want the Takara first then it's up to my discretion if I would also get the Hasbro ones down the line to own both versions since they do have their differences and I'm just a sucker for the Headmasters.
>>
>>5930857
Sure, your money and your toys, all I'm saying is you shouldn't feel bad because the cheap version resembles more the anime than the Takara.
>>
>>5930863
I wouldn't feel bad because I got plans for them and I am planning on getting both versions anyways.

Its kinda like autism, it creates an imbalance and just doesn't feel right no matter what it looks like, and others may not understand.

Its why I regret having the classics deluxe seekers, because their decos weren't cohesive, the henkei's I got to compliment don't work either and trying to offload old figures that yellowed because I was a stupid kid means I can't do shit with them, now they're an eyesore and from then on I made up my mind, if I'm gonna start a collection on something they'll be all hasbro or all takara except in the cases of leaders for clones like scourge
>>
>>5930809

I don't know why LG Hardhead would go up in price. Shit face sculpt, shit colors.

You either need your eyes checked, you're thinking of legends galvatron (which I would agree on) or baiting, take your pick, either way you're starting unnecessary shit
>>
>>5930854
That bothered me as well. Highbrow didn't have a visor like that in the anime, so why change it? Same for Hardhead's colors since they should have been closer to the Hasbro colors. Oh, and there's the lack of paint for Scourge's nails when they got almost everything else right.

>>
>>5930891
Looking at my TR scourge, maybe because they're molded like regular hands, maybe because you look silly if you ball your hands up but have your long nails preventing you from making a proper fist?

I mean I also own the platinum set and they just covered their fingers in red, perhaps takara thought of this, or perhaps they themselves were cost cutting (like wheelie having orange hands).

Whatever the case its unfortunate, if they make an mp scourge they'd need to be painted

Either way, he's never been all that relevant in there, and he's been dead for maybe 2 years.

I'm still salty about how pointless a death he had. Hardhead had potential, and we didn't need Nova to kill someone to how he was evil, that was well established.
>>
>Allspark removing posts in the Megatronia/Sakamoto thread

>>
>>5930997
>I'm still salty about how pointless a death he had
honestly that applies to 99% of the deaths that have occurred in the IDW continuity since it began, one of the main reasons I barely follow it(personally I think Death should be an extremely rare thing to happen to a Cybertronian, like pretty much the only reliable way to kill one should be dropping them into a star or black hole, and even that shouldn't be guaranteed to work, it's pretty much the only way a war lasting millions of years makes any sense)
>>
>>5931007
>be Pipes
>get stepped on by Overlord
>die
>be Sixshot
>get stepped on by fucking Metroplex

You made the right choice by barely following it.
>>
>>5931010
I get what you're saying, but in this specific case I'm fine with Sixshot being ridiculously durable, being a phase sixer and all.
>>
>>5931007
Funny enough, I've been more sick of death fake outs lately (mostly in MTMTE).
>>
>>5931012

>>
>>5931010
I still like some bits I see, but yeah the inconsistencies don't help, best IDW TF book will always be Transformers VS GI Joe anyways

>>5931012
that's another reason I don't like how common death is in IDW, it leads to both it and death fakeouts being used for cheap drama
