Hey guys, been looking for a new typeface and set of blending options to use when I Photoshop the OP images. If anyone wants to post some ideas here (along with a download for the PS file if you don't mind) I'd be open to changing it around.

Right now I use Plavsky with the one named "third" here: https://mega.nz/#!GY0ATKiI

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

SD Group Build

Rules:
Pick up an SD anything, plane, Gundam/other MS, whatever, if it's generally an SD it counts (so I hope to see someone do a D-Style). Obviously, per all group builds, you'll want to paint it.

Submissions:
Email it to [email protected]
USE AN ACTIVE EMAIL ADDRESS

Due Date: November 1st

Good news! A kind anon has purchased some prizes for the group build. He has decided to do a random drawing rather than judge them like I did in the previous group build. Winners will be contacted via email.

For those curious, I intend to start the secret Santa signups on October 1st.

fa/tg/uy here.

One of my friends is working on a setting for a game he's going to be running in the future.

Its a setting where hell and heaven have partially overlayed onto earth and both want to take over. (it takes a lot from Castlevania, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta)

anyway one of the "races" are a group of humans turned full body cyborgs who came to this dimension from another earth that hasn't been fucked. (they were on an economically driven colonization mission similar to the Brits who founded Jamestown only they didn't know what the environment in this dimention would be like so evreybody who signed up was turned into full body cyborgs to dramatically increase the chances of them being able to function and build a viable colony in whatever space/atmosphere they ended up on/in)

So their bodies are modular, largely humanoid machines.

I've been taking a lot of aesthetic design cues for these guys from Zeon and Zeon-inspired mobile suits (though scaled down)

anyway does anybody have any galleries of a wide variety of mobile suits that fit that description? (I'm looking for inspiration art for the various forms these people can/will take)

I've found many galleries of just a single type of mobile suit (Zaku II or Gouf or Dom or Z'gok, or Hizack etc.) or maybe one or two. but none that contained a wide assortment of mobile suits.

galleries like that, or that feature lots of custom mobile suits (including non-canon ones and ones made up by the artist/modeller) would be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Interesting, looks like instead of fully painting it he's just applying streaking and color modulation techniques straight onto the colored plastic.
>>
So I want to practice welding some seams so I can start doing it on my kits.

The guide reccomends Tamiya, but will the testor's cement bottles work too? I've seen some around that look like square superglue-style bottles. If they do, what kind am I looking for? It looks like they have different formulas for different plastic types. I mostly work on gunpla and FAGs/Koto stuff.
>>
>>5926080
I use the testors blue one that comes in a tube rather than a bottle, for bigger seams I have a tamiya basic putty tube as well, testors bind nice and smell like orange instead of like hard chems
>>
>>5926080
I use testors in the glass vial. It works well enough.
>>
>>5925719
You order it by boat off sealmodel, ebay, etc, and wait 3-6 months for shipping.
Alternatively, you buy rustoleum matte clear from a hardware store and make do with that. It's not good, but it's better than nothing.
Finally, if you have an airbrush then you should be able to get airbrush-able top coat fairly easily.

Think of it this way anons.

You can drop the money on a proper mask and maybe a booth.......

...or you can drop a much much larger amount on medical bills, lose brain cells, and possibly continue to have to spend money on supplies or medications for things related to whatever effects your brain damage caused if it was serious enough (I once knew an old house painter. He has to wear diapers for the rest of his life after inhaling too many fumes over the years).

It was under evaluation to be a re 100. But even then it's not final. Just like how We still yet to see the Bloody XI or Leo as a re 100 yet. But the GM Sniper is a huge welcome for once. Now I don't know about you but seeing a GM sniper II here might mean they plan for an MG GM K9 Sniper or a GM Command, these days Bandai don't release new molds without them being able to milk it. But I'm gonna call it and say this is set for the ground work to P-bandai on PaleRider, White Dingo, and GM Spartan and of course Lydo Wolf colors.

Articulation is acceptable for today, mostly the great thing is all the various marking stickers it comes with. The unique look aside, that is. There's also the huge rifle it has, very nice looking. And if you plan to customize it then you can go for a "test unit" angle seeing as it was early MS or "ace keeps shitty unit after piloting it so long" like with aces keeping Zaku 1's.

Dalong is easy as shit to navigate. You just hit any of the model grades (e.g. HG, MG, IBO, X, etc.) and then you're greeted with a menu with both a list and galleries for all of the model kits relevant to the category that Dalong has reviewed. There are English options for the list and gallery catalog, though not for the reviews.

Most of the reviews are mostly about the models themselves, so no interesting backstory bits if you're looking for those unluckily.

Sup bros

I got a 1/100 MG Jesta recently and some of the stickers are a type I've never seen before.

What is this type called? and how do I apply them?

I tried using the google translate thing where you can take a picture of the text and translate it, but the translation made no sense

They look way more crisp since they don't have outlines
>>
>>5927351
dry transfers, i imagine.

you apply them onto a surface with tape and use a nintendo ds stylus to rub them onto the part
>>
>>5927351
Dry transfers like >>5927354 said. Make sure you don't tape the wrong side. Also, I think there's a section on them in the guide
>>
>>5927354
Damn... that seems... well not tricky, but... You have to be extremely precise compared to water stickers.
So I need to cut them out of and then press them on to the part or something?

Then again, I like the fact that the stickers themselves will look way more clean and crisp
>>
>>5927359
you can just cut out the square perimeter around the decal, no need to be precise.

tape the correct side like >>5927358 said onto the right area, and then rub away. you should be able to see it transfer over and know when it's done.
>>
>>5927358
I'll check the guide for it and look up some stuff on youtube about it thanks!

I'm new to Gunpla but I've played and made Warhammer figures since '94. Warhammer only has water stickers so I'm not used to these dry transfers.

I have one. It works well and gets the job done. It's kinda fragile, though.

I set it up and left it stationary for about a year. On first breakdown and fold up to move it, I found that the bottom piece was cracking.

Two more moves and this thing is pretty much held together by gravity.

The plastic is just kinda brittle, at least on mine.

Still works fine, though.

Different guy, but it sucks up my matte and gloss coat lacquers just fine. From what I've read, all bought booths will suck compared to making your own ultra booth, but for the little amount of paint we use, something like this is fine. It IS safer because Limonene is a natural oil that works as a polystyrene solvent and can be found in citrus fruits. Eating an orange ain't gonna kill you unless you're allergic to it. That said, "safer" doesn't mean "chug the bottle of plastic cement and feel peachy-keen afterwards."

You already have large "dead zones" in the corners of your hood for the exact reason your diagram depicts, especially given its shape. >>
>>5929439
Stacking fans typically does nothing. Sometimes it's possible for it to increase pressure but it rarely works out as intended. If you want small fans with high pressure get server fans or bilge blowers. Both are loud but two or three server fans will be significantly quieter than bilge blowers, which sound like jet engines. But bilge blowers have significantly higher pressure which is suitable for exhaust purposes.

Makes me feel better about my local groups convention. We're just renting out a fire hall with table space for the contest, a few vendors, and a raffle.

It's more of an excuse to get a bunch of modelers who don't meet up with other modelers much a chance to get together and talk shop and a chance for them to show off more than anything else.

>>
>>5929645
Maraudercon in MD. Costs $8 for entry and another $7 to enter the contest, but you get unlimited entries and there's like 60 model categories. It's not a big event and we make next to nothing off it, but the group throws it every two years.
>>
>>5929656
Ah.

Our local event is SCGMC, and the people who run it and judge it also compete in it, and usually give themselves about half the prizes.

It sucks, cause it's pretty much all we have, and it pretty much just exists so the guys who run it can circle jerk eachother.
>>
>>5929657
Ah, I met the ringleader of that at Otakon. He flew all the way across the country for it and shilled his group and website hard in every conversation.

For our contest the judges can enter into the different categories as well, but there is a strict rule about not being a judge for a category you have an entry in to keep it fair. Last group meeting we also spent like an hour going over how to judge fairly, what to look for, and how to seperate opinion and personal preferance when looing at a model.

Server fans and bilge blowers are among the few cheap options that have enough pressure to be usable for venting vapor. Those large "exhaust" fans like bathroom fans usually overrate airflow and pressure is shit. The only common exhaust fan you should be considering is a range hood, which a decent one will cost over $100.
