There's actually two RIDs. There was the 2000 series Robots In Disguise, which was Car Robots in Japan (it's a comedy series, autobots versus predacons) and the new RID series which is a sequel to Prime. Neither is all that good.

"perfect" and "amazing" are really strong words, but he is definitely pretty great. It's a shame that he had to acquiesce to the MP standard of "cartoon accuracy", because that really hurts Ironhide, since his cartoon model was designed almost wholly independently of something you could actually turn a Nissan Vanette into. The fact that they managed it as close as they did is pretty amazing, however.

I really wish there was a Masterpiece-quality line but without the requirement of being beholden to cartoon accuracy. I feel like it would be capable of truly amazing things.

Prime was just a waste of potential. Started out strong, but went into odd places as the show went on. Especially after it became a scavenger hunt extravaganza.

Remember that generations strayed into beast wars territory, and beast machines a few years back.
Current generations is including guys like sentinel prime, and we're getting ehobby batimus.
I think we'll see a few remolds/repaints homaging the unicron trilogy soon, within the next year. Odds are once generations is done with their likely pretenders reboot, they'll remake some unicron trilogy specific characters, ending in a titan class unicron, then move to prime.
So 2020 maybe.

And I never really had an issue with the arms. You can get plenty of movement out of the shoulders even with the backpack being close as possible, and you can get more out of it if you tilt it back.

Since I'm probably getting MP Delta Magnus, I'm quite happy with this. I skipped CW Magnus since I already had MP UM, and will probably skip TR OP out of Optimus fatigue, so it gives me a reason to buy the mold. Plus I just find the Powered Convoy colors with a faceplate cool. It separates it from Ultra Magnus well. Dai Stack looks like shit and the faceplate isn't that god, but I really liked the idea of it.

Brawl is a shitty mold regardless of QC. The shitty shoulders, nonexistent forearms, immobile turret, and anorexic midsection make looking good as a robot or arm needlessly difficult.

The Deathsaurus isn't too bad as a torso, but robot and jet mode just make no sense. The altmode doesn't look like anything due to the colors making it look like a jet with a giant brick sticking off of it, and the Robot mode is just Sky Lynx in his edgy teen phase. I wish it had a more dragon like head even if it looked out of place as a jet.

All in all, I just reached my the mold reuse and reduced retooling limit with this set. Fucking Victorion had more changes than this.

So, originally the appeal was we got the robots in disguise idea taken a step forward, and it followed the "two toys in one" gimmick that the masters line had (and was followed with action masters and then micromasters)
Also the original line had regular pretenders, and then pretenders that transformed and even combined with their inner shells.
Modern pretenders would likely have their shell be something more like godbomber, armor that turns into something in its own right, with a smaller transformer inside.
They also had detachable armor and weapons.
Bombburst had briefs under his crotchguard.
It was weird.
The original run had victims too. Starscream, grimlock, bumblebee and jazz all became pretenders.
I'd enjoy it a lot if they figured out how to turn the shell inside out to form the bot, who then would transform further to vehicle.

On my last stop before giving up and heading home, The Entertainer pulled through and pulled through hard. £20 for a Deluxe is insane, I suppose I should get used to it in Brexit Britain though.

Wolfwire/Weirdwolf is a pretty standard beastformer, but the way to extend his body is pretty cool - and he looks like a Zoid. Always bonus points for that.

Mindwipe, meanwhile, has a completely inspired transformation which involves flipping him 180 degrees multiple times, as well as his entire leg folding outwards. The beast mode has a lot more poseability than you'd think, providing you leave the wings untabbed from the feet.

Not pictured is his utterly sexy robot mode, which has it all. Colour scheme, articulation and an overall look. He oozes evil, and with his pistol/riot shield/helmet combo looks very 'Nazi SS'.

He's actually not as 'greebly' as his CG stock render suggests. My only concern with him is that the small wings, as well as the large wingtips, are cast in soft rubber. Might be an issue down the line, as well as a problem concerning his E-Hobby mouldmate Convobat. Other than that, he's easily one of my favourite deluxe 'Cons EVER.
