Bottom line though, Lego should just rent the property to someone else. It has far too much potential as a series for them to keep putting it away like this. They don't even have to be buildable figures. I would take a proper action figure Bionicle line in a heartbeat as long as they're cool articulate robot designs and the story is good enough.

Any problem that G2 has would be amplified by MB. If you thought the marketing was bad for Lego, it would be about 10x worse from a smaller company like MB.

Also, who knows what the aesthetic would look like. Does MB even have a Technic line or something that isn't "system"? Not to mention the lower quality plastic, or the fact that MB doesn't even have that much shelf space in most retail stores.

There would also be 0 compatibility with CCBS/technic. If you thought getting extra CCBS parts was difficult, imagine having to start over brand new again. And you can't go on whatever the equivalent of Bricklink for Mega bloks is to get more parts, as I just did some googling and nothing exists that is even vaguely similar.

Wishing for MB to take over the license is 100% a grass is greener on the other side situation. There's no way anything good would come out of it.

mask maker here with a short update -

Getting ready for school has interrupted my mask making pursuits a bit. Please do be patient - I will get things set finally as soon as I can.

I now have silver powder, which smells like metallic crayola crayons and creates pieces which are perhaps too shiny but still very nice. I was beside myself in making pic related - months ago I wouldn't have been able to do this at all.

I've already made a mold of the star wars shoulderpiece. As far as I know my method seems to be restricted to pieces which have details which only pass in the same direction.

For example, the Nuva Shoulder would be easy. Something like the helmet of Voltix, I'm not so sure about. The holes on both the top and sides of the helmet might prove to be difficult, maybe even impossible with my method, but I haven't tried yet.

You can fix the scaling with sandpaper, and paint smooths a lot of the roughness out. Vapor from an acetone boil is also viable since it dissolves a microlayer of the plastic. If you're feeling brave, you can polish the part out with a dremel and a polishing wheel, taking care not to heat the material up too much.

I haven't tried the acetone method yet, but what I do is brush on a basecoat(say, flat black) until the material stops soaking it up. One more coat after that, then I pour 91% alcohol over it and rinse it with tap water. If there's still roughness I'll use one of the other two methods on a case-by-case basis.

Vapor smoothing is fantastic, but DO. NOT. BOIL. Acetone is flammamble as shit and poisoning is no fun.

Pick up a small crockpot from the thrift store, pour some acetone in the bottom, suspend your 3D-printed part inside, and set it to "warm."

Time and temperature setting will take some dialing-in (a perfect job for scrap), but it's far safer and more cost-effective than boiling

Mixels lasted longer because it was better advertised and because the concept and parts it introduced were novelty.

Cheap, good quality desktop toys that had articulation and could be rebuilt into pretty much anything due to being made of lego were bound to sell like hotcakes.

The animated show was randumb shit but I appreciate it in a mindless level. The latter specials had very pleasing animation which felt more cartoony and natural.

Bionicle is best kept as an early 2000's thing IMO. Its atmosphere, deep lore, and overall success are thanks in-part to the internet still being new at the time of its launch and Lego having to utilize Lego magazine/comic books most of the time to get the story out. You just can't replicate that "tribal robots on an island shrouded in mystery" feeling because everyone is connected today via the internet, and kids would rather play on their phones than play with actual, physical toys.

Well yeah, there was no point in naming him Karzahni since Makuta is the one villain everyone associates with Bionicle. I was just marveling at how much this Makuta has in common with a relatively minor G1 villain (one I wish had been used more and more wisely), arguably even more so than the character he is named after.

In a way, it's nice to know the story team for G2 remembered and liked Karzahni and Artakha enough to incorporate many of their traits into this story's major "deities". I always liked those two autistic inventor brothers a lot.

It's been five years since G2 was pulled, and Lego has contacted you, /biog/, for input on G3. You'll get an early peek at the new sets, a chance to affect character arcs, the power to finally cut the Bohrok Kal out of the story entirely - but there's just one catch:

Lego, in their infinite wisdom, has gotten /biog/ mixed up with tumblr or something. They want a more even gender ratio for their first wave of Toa Mata, Matoran, and Turaga. If I rebooted I'd probably pick up where G2 left off, but rather than bring the Mata back again I'd establish a new generation of Protectors, and turn them into Toa. In line with tradition, the Toa of Water will be female, as well as the Earth Toa, a far off descendant of Korgot. Lord of Skull Spiders would make a comeback, serving under the Queen of Skull Spiders, except years of Mutation would turn them into more Bohrok-like creatures, with the Queen of Skull Spiders being a Bahrag callback.

The main villain this time around would be a female forge worker: Ekimu's assistant, intended to replace Makuta. Eventually, she decides to continue Makuta's legacy after finding a shard of the Mask of Ultimate Power.

She gathers elemental crystals from the six regions, using them in conjunction with the MOUP shard to open a small rift in the Great Crater. Makuta is unable to escape without a completed MOUP, but uses the rift to give her his old Mask of Control, and she begins using it to control creatures on the island, turning them against the Toa. (Hence the return of the Skull Spiders)

The set gimmicks would revolve around crystals which would serve as set collectables, with features activating when you slot them in indents on the Toa and their weapons. Kind of like those old Transformers sets with the weapons that only unlocked if you inserted their Cyber Key. Enemy creatures for the first Summer wave would be corrupted Creatures under the influence of the Mask of Control.
