Hey, everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? I hope 2016 is off to a good start for you! Now that the holidays are over and life has settled down a bit, I thought it might be a good time to build together.
Tonight's set comes from a new player in the interlocking building block game: Kids Create, a sub-line of the confusingly-named brand Papercraft. Although there are no catalog numbers or set names, there were two other sets being sold at Family Dollar under the "Star Riders" theme.

Back of the box. Note: the product code, SKU and UPC are identical for all three "Star Riders" sets.
>>5404104
Contents of the box. The building instructions are on a folded sheet.
>>5404118
>LET'S BUILD
Put on your red shoes and build the blues
>>5404128
I'm not going to mince words: I already have serious reservations about the clutching power of these pieces.
>>5404147
Now we flip for the next step...
>>5404178
I'm not sure where they cribbed the instructions from, but this step shows parts not included in the box.
>>5404200
Well, it looks like it's time to turn in. Maybe this is a good place to stop for the night. I'll be back tomorrow.
>>5404094
>poor's man x-wing
>no prints/decals on the front pic
>sticking out mudguards
>>5404094
If I ever find that brand I'd stock up on cheap jet engine parts.
>>5404209
Hey, OP, you still there?
>>5406752
I'm here! Everybody ready to do some building? Let's do it for the Gruber!
>>5405348
Sadly, the set isn't all that cheap.
>>5406912
Those gray cones that make the pew-pew shooters on the wings' tips are super loose and will fall off if you even think about touching them.
>>5406941
The completed wing.
>>5406955
Why, if I didn't know any better, I would swear that I was building some sort of fighter with wings configured in an "X" formation.
>>5406968
Dig those scratches on the canopy.
>>5406975
,,, And we're done, for the most part.
>>5406989
As you can see from this angle, the canopy doesn't sit flush with the fighter's fuselage.
>>5407007
That's a fairly large gap in the back.
I think that's all I've got tonight for you, folks. We'll have a look at the minifigure tomorrow night and maybe a few more shots of the fighter. See you then!
X-Wung is my favorite Spacefighter from Space Battles.
>>5404768
>genuinely critiquing KO's
>>5407024
OP back again to wrap things up. I'm feeling a bit under the weather, so we're just going to get right into things.
The minifigure is nothing to write home about. The printing on the torso and face are a tad sloppy. The pilot must be irritated that he gets a plain helmet instead of an Alliance pilot's helmet.
>>5409242
The amount of flash on the helmet is pretty disgusting. Is it just me, or does the "Star Rider" look slightly smaller than the Legonaut?
>>5409258
>Revvin' up your engine
>Listen to her howlin' roar
>Metal under tension
>Beggin' you to touch and go
>>5409276
>Headin' into twilight
>Spreadin' out her wings tonight
>She got you jumpin' off the deck
>And shovin' into overdrive
The canopy won't properly close unless the pilot is leaning back.
>>5409281
>Out along the edge
>Is always where I burn to be
>The further on the edge
>The hotter the intensity
You get a clearer look at the gaping hole in the back of the fighter in this shot.
It bears repeating that the parts quality is extremely shoddy. Parts like the geared hinges do their job and hold the wings in whatever position you want. Parts like plates show signs of warping
>>5409297
>Highway to the Danger Zone
>I'm gonna take you
>Right into the Danger Zone
>Highway to the Danger Zone
>Right into the Danger Zone
Remember the alternate build and the "2 in 1" copy shown on the packaging? They didn't supply instructions for the alternate build. They also didn't supply stickers or decals. Surprise! I guess you're expected to supply your own sweet lightning bolts.
I guess that's all for now. I hope you enjoyed this look at this set. Now to sleep for a thousand years!
>>5409334
I always find your threads enjoyable, OP. Hoping to see more of them in the future.
>>5409334
Thank you, OP, for a quality thread and for taking us right into the zone of danger.
