So /toy/, I've been looking into the Jazwares Sonic line, since it's the only big, articulated Sonic line, in the aftermarket.
Jesus, lads, why are they so expensive now? I mean, it's common knowledge to collectors they weren't well made at all. It's not like they didn't shelfwarm, either.
>Sonic line, since it's the only big, articulated Sonic line, in the aftermarket.

Seems like you answered your own question, bud. It's the same reason Amiibos were selling like hot cakes. Collectors had no other options for getting physical representations of Palutina, Ness, Starfox, Little Mac, Captain Falcon, etc. So they took whatever they could get.
Since there aren't any other big articulated Sonic figures, collectors have to settle for the pieces of shit in your picture.
If you want a quality Sonic fig, just get the Nendoroid. Jazwares is trash in comparison.
Neck ball joint, shoulder swivel, leg ball joint, wrist swivel, ankle ball joint.
Nendoroid isn't known for massive amounts of articulation, but it's hard to give a character like Sonic lots of articulation without it looking like shit like in >>5381949
I'd love for a Japanese company to tackle Sonic in earnest one day, but right now Nendoroid is far and away the best we've got.
Mfw people will actually go for OP's sonic over the clearly superior Nendoroid just because 'muhh no articulation'.
You can twist and swivel the arms and legs around just fine. There are swap-out pieces if you want bent limbs. But it articulates just fine and looks beautiful.
OP image looks like shit. Buy it over the Nendo if you want a child's looking display. But buy the Nendo if you want something impressive looking.
So, are you a child, or not?
articulation in limbs barely 3mm thick is why the Jazwares figures break so easily. You'd have to use metal or something else really durable to make it workable. It's why Toy Island or Resaurus didn't bother with their old lines
The limbs are switchable, but you can move the head, shoulders, thighs, hands, and feet.
Well as I said, the Nendo is just great. I mean, what poses exactly are you guys trying to do that you can't with the Nendo? Have him sucking his own cock? Like, fuck off, lol.
Idk, maybe it's just me. I'd rather have a figure that does 75% of the movement, for 500% of the good aesthetics, which is what the Nendo vs Jazwares boils down to...
Well Nendo is a perfect Classic Sonic where as the Jazwares piece of shit is pretty much the only game in town for an articulated Modern Sonic.
I mean, I agree with you, the Nendo is fucking awesome. But some people, for whatever reason, want the Modern Sonic over the Classic Sonic.
Ah. I get wanting a specific design you had in mind.
Didn't really realize the differences much myself. I guess cuz I haven't noticed Sonic since I was a kid. I guess some people like the longer legs though?
Could be. I never really noticed the change until I played Sonic Generations though. I guess it was so gradual that I didn't pay much attention to it.
Ah, yeah. I obviously see the difference and know that I've known about these differences.
Idk though. The Nendo to me is just a perfect "Sonic". It's not particularly fat with light blue skin like that Sonic to the left, but it's shorter and less lanky than the Sonic to the right. An amalgamation I'd say, and one so perfect that I don't notice it looking 'off' from any particular design.
But why the super poser? Why not the 5" one?
Because it doesn't come with anything else
I want to recreate some sonic 3 scenes, is there a good knuckles and tails is there anything close to the same size as nendo sonic or do I have to look for a jw sonic?
>is there a good knuckles and tails is there anything close to the same size as nendo sonic or do I have to look for a jw sonic?
My old Resaurus figures look pretty good next to Nendo Sonic. Good luck finding them, though.
If having the supporting cast is your goal I can't really think of anything beyond Jazware's 3 inch line.
Why would they only release sonic? Why not do a Tails & Knuckles release too?
And does anyone know about the big Sonic in pic related?
He's from the Jazwares 10" line. They also made a Modern Sonic and Metal Sonic.
Sonic toys are like those Spawn/McFarlane figures you see in antique/comic stores. Theyre not that great, and people still charge a little or more than retail because theres somebody out there who wants it.
>far and away the best Sonic figure Jazwares put out while they had the license
>I bought the first two shitty versions of the 5 inch and didn't even notice this one came out
>mfw it's too late
Are there any chances for having a Figuarts / Figma Sonic since it's his 25th this year?
They did have the IP on the poll last yeard, I think. At first I thought it strange, but then I realized it was the anniversary this year.
Could be one of those things where they have the prototype already, but just want to see if people want it. Bandai's pulled as much before iirc.
>tfw had this exact box set as a kid
>tfw it was fucking shit like all Sonic toys then
Also remember those Resaurus sculpts? Fucking hell, Jazwares were bad, but not that bad.
this isn't even together anymore, but it had the old fucked up eyes so whatever.
some toy store had like 6 of them with the fixed eyes for $5, passed them all up. regretting it now, because it is definitely the best sonic.
>have 3" Sonic w/ stand I bought on a whim years ago
>nearly impossible to stand upright, even with provided stand
>see this thread
>It doesn't work that way.
wasn't sonic in a poll of possible candidates from a comicon past year? i'm sure someone in the figuarts general posted it
now then, it was just a suggestion, bandai/tamashii nations making him is another story
No pic but I own it. It's alright. There's a couple problems, like the shoes not sitting flat due to some odd molding and the arms falling out easily, but it comes with all the accessories, and it's $20 instead of over $100.
It's not PERFECT, but it's certainly good enough, and with a little bit of care you can probably fix up any issues.
I love the Sonic Adventure figures, the sonic is a lot like the art and Tails looks awesome.
Don't know what they were thinking making knuckles head 50g and having spindly legs so he always has to lean
Was I the only who had these as a kid?
funny story, my friend likes knuckles
i liked sonic
we had the huge jumbo marbles
and my balcony was really long
he had the idea to bowl the marbles and hit my toys (both were mice)
i ended up fucking him up and knocking down knuckles over
knuckles head popped right off
i recently sold the sonic to a swede cuck for 25$
This are the Sonic toys I havr and while they are far from perfect I'm kinda happy with them
The Super Posers actually had the widest cast besides Jazwares' 3 inch line, not saying much since the 3 inch line had like 40 figures (37 or so if you don't count certain variants.) But there were 7 in total, 5 if you don't count the Supersonic and Supershadow variants. The Knuckles and Tails for this line were actually awesome, and Silver was really cool too except that his leg joints had like NO friction so standing him was a pain. I have the original Toy Island versions of Shadow and Sonic with their fucked up eyes, but aside from that they're the same as Jazwares' versions.
