Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more
All 1:18 figures are welcome here.
>Vitruvian Hacks Pre-Orders are now open!!
It seems that many folks are offloading their ROC stuff recently. Managed to accumulate a small squad of vipers for my kamen riders to fight.
Once I get settled again, I'll get a better jungle scene going. For now, have an impromptu ruined temple killing ground.
Without their vests, the RoC Vipers aren't bad figures at all. Especially if you throw on some goggles or a helmet of some kind. Personally, I use RoC vipers for my MARS infantry and vehicle pilots, while the Iron Grenadiers act as Destro's Elite Guard.
The RoC Vipers also make great basic body upgrades for a lot of Cobra figures as well imo.
I got it on sale from TRU for 20 bucks, but Spirit's still got it
It's got wire-pose legs, there's also one with joints that's even bigger.
Offhand, no idea how that one is, looks like it's only got swivel joints at the base of the legs so it might be shit.
Next wave of SHODO figures. As expected, they are reusing the the "tracksuit" body quite a bit. The Shocker Kaijin seems like a completely new mold though.
My TRUs had shit when i went on monday or tuesday. Yesterday i went again and they had a single Iron Grenedier and Steel whatever pack.
So they're disappearing fast, even the Storm Shadow and Shipwreck packs. A shame the vehicle packs aren't on sale, but , they're still a good deal anyway, so I'm going back tomorrow to buy the desert whatever set.
The only sets I haven't seen at TRU yet is the Gung Ho pack. I almost forget it that it exists.
Went yesterday. 1 3 pack, same stripped firefly with a harpoon gun to replace the mp5.
20 CC and shipwreck, 12 spirit and storm shadow. 1 croc master and blowtorch. Lol
Wish I had bought more when I had the chance. Only wave 1 was stocked massively at walmarts and such.
Thr red ninja is pretty much the 2nd place in the first wave. Cobra trooper would be great if it had better legs.
well crap. I was going to get another "bag of Cthulhu" to use them as part of tips to waiters and joe pics and they are gone everywhere...
Lighting. I can say, the more. The better.
Here is a standard room lighting pic.
iso is higher, around 400, or else would be too dark. Use the shutter speed to help balance out the brightness to taste.
Same area, but now with a lamp. May be too bright, slught color wash. Could use a paper diffuser or mire distance from the lamp.
Iso at 100, shutter speed set to max yet still a bit of a washout.
Natural light is the easiest to start working with.
If not for the atrocious color scheme, Gung Ho would be awesome. If only he match Leatherneck.
HLJ has a preorder for it and HobbySearch probably will. ebay will have it trickle in and Amazon's got the set.
That doesn't mean any of them are better, but there are plenty of options.
I like Village People type of gay as I like Blue oyster type of gay, as a comedic parody.
The same way I like traditional depiction of black people in 50s cartoon because its funny but I don't think a contemporary or sci-fi soldier should look like a 50s black guy in cartoons.
He does look like he's ready to go cruising. The powder blue coloring of his outfit doesn't help.
But hey, he's always looked like that. And what's G.I. Joe without a little homoeroticism?
Why kind of cameras do you use to take photos to your stuff, doesn't matter if I use phone or digital camera, it always look like shit.
Do you use canon like cameras or its just I suck at taking pictures?
All my pictures are taken with my phone. It has a decent macro mode so it's able to focus well up close. The only lighting available is the room's LED lamp directly above. As you know, lighting is key, but the room's light does not provide adequate light. I compensate that by
>Putting a piece of white paper below to reflect the light back up
>Increasing ISO. This leads to grainier pictures but the effect can be reduced by taking smaller pictures (you don't really need 5 megapixel giant blurry photos when posting on 4chan)
I love Gung Ho, no homo. But, I refuse to buy yet another rehash of a 30 year old design with stupid colors. I hope at some point they do a repaint of him in more military colors. Not my custom, but I love pic related. (or olive drab w black tiger stripe camo would be a dream)
best gung ho coming through.
looks a little dated by today's standards, but what a cool design. nice camo pants, and it looks like he just ripped the sleeves off his marine dress blues jacket, no fucks given. that's very in character to me.
he was also among the first figures to have swivel wrists, working soft holster, and removable vest/webgear.
this is now a gung ho thread, mon ami.
let's stomp some snakes!!!!
You need a good light source. Good lighting makes a world of a difference.
that's a beautiful storm shadow, bu for me, the 'enter the ninja' version is still the greatest stormy we ever got, and one of the coolest joe figures, ever. heck, probably one of the greatest 4 inch toys, period.
I'm always looking for nice civilian figures in this scale. I haven't found a lot, but there are:
Mary Jane Watson
Absorbing Man (you'll have repaint either his prison pants or his mutie skin)
Storm (mohawk & punk outfit version)
Drax (he's green tho)
Wolverine/Logan (X-Men Origins: Wolverine line)
Thunderstrike, kinda (Marvel Infinite)
Chameleon (Marvel Infinite)
If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The A-Team.
Joes that could be civilians with minimal modding:
Shipwreck (50th, Hunt for Cobra Commander)
Joe Colton (Retaliation)
Tunnel Rat, maybe (Renegades)
The Golden Compass had some 3-4" figures, though most of them are dressed for winter. I always look at the Doctor Who figures, but I think they're too big to blend in with Joes.
Those are customs though....
Alpine. Was heavily featured in the GI Joe cartoon.
His action figure was packed with one of the DVD five-packs (the one with the "best of" DVD) that was ultra hard to find due stores not ordering it due to Hasbro putting out shitty five packs/dvd sets for the first couple of releases of the line that people didn't buy.
He was now re-issued as part of the 50th Anniversery figures, but with two additional ultra rares (Rock Viper and Shock Trooper) so he is hard to get.
Bruder makes 1:16 playsets and vehicles but their accompanying figures are around 4" so they may fit.
They use the same man-face and woman-face for all their figures. It may get creepy when you get a bunch..
>>If they are legit, why can't I find them for sale on Ebay or Amazon?
I need a cheap replacement body for Helix, just needs to be female and better if no faction logos or not wearing much. I'm 50/50 on buying a Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Action Figure Blank because it won' be out til March, but they've taken forever to just get to this point of production.
Bored, but too lazy to take new photos, here's some photoshopped old pics.
I hope someone does the rider bikes in 1:18 scale.
I'm going to pick up silent strike this weekend.
I'm asking for your honest opinion on whether I should pick it up or not?
The joe half is decent. Good reuse of body parts, nice loadout, colors that go with the rest of the 50th figures. On the other hand, the cobra figures are quite average and the orange theme doesn't fit anything else aside from Hazard vipers.
One issue is that the vehicles' canopies use gummy soft plastic and that makes them hard to close fully. Also, they have the same shitty QC of the 1st wave, you may want to inspect a few pieces in a physical shop before picking one up.
> they have the same shitty QC of the 1st wave
This isn't true.
I went through a couple just in case that was true, but they're all pretty standard QC from the PoC and before
But yeah, the cockpits are a bit hard to close because the plastic is rubbery, but i have no real problems beyond that.
As for the orange HISS, i just view it as a test vehicle.
I really like the figures beyond that
Indiana Jones-Indy(remove gun holster), Mutt, Henry Sr. and a few other make good civilians.
Avatar-Parker Selfridge, Dr. Grace Augustine, Jake Sully, Norm Spellman.
Star Trek-Uhura and the humans with dark pants work if you take off their belts
WWE Build N Brawl-Domino & Deuce look the most normal.
Pirates of the Carribean-The female figures are passable if you remove all their accessories
Dragonball Evolution-Roshi, Yamcha
Narnia-Lucy Pevensie looks okay, plus she comes with a lion
Men In Black 3-J & K for suits, maybe Boris
DC Universe Infinite Heroes-Commissioner Gordon
Bif Bang Pow Big Bang Theory figures
Schylling Barrel Racing cowgirls
2015 is just about over; anyone heard anything about what we should expect for 2016?
I know the sub club is doing Pythona FINALLY plus White haired Outback and an "Inferno" BAT but that's about it.
Any word on what the Convention set for 2016 might be? Or what shit, if ANYTHING we might get at retail in any shape or form?
At the rate things are going, with reissues, I would expect/suspect that we'll get a couple of two-three packs with more POC re-issues.
Assuming Zombie Viper is still banned from reissuing, there are still a bunch of hard to find figures they need to re-issue:
Renegades Law and Order
Renegades Tunnel Rat
Renegades Cobra Shock Troopers
Plus there are the usual suspects, figures that were convention exclusives that fans have been demanding get a wide release at retail:
OG Dial Tone
Plus Python Patrol versions of the newer versions of the Viper and Cobra Trooper figures.
What the fuck is left from the concept case? I don't think there is anything left of value except a bunch of no name freakshows that either can't be released (IE zombies) because of moral fags, and a bunch of generic scrubs I don't think Hasbro would want to release given how the line is barely staying afloat based upon nostalgia fags.
To be fair, there is nothing really left they can reissue. Sure there are some Renegades shit that was hard to find they could re-release, but I doubt Hasbro wants to remind people of that shit.
Lifeline was just released as a convention set so he's out
Zombies are persona non grata and should not even be discussed in this thread as possible re-release. It's a dead end subject, it ain't fucking happening no matter how hard we pout and cry and thrash about.
If Hasbro was smart, they'd restart the whole Python Patrol/Tiger Force gimmick. Python Patrol got fucked up so badly that it deserves a proper redoing, especially now that they have updated versions of the Cobra Trooper and Viper figures, as >>5342978.
Similarly, they can redo god knows how many existing "name" characters in Tiger Force colors for the GI Joe side. Snake Eyes, Scarlet, Hawk, Lady Jaye, Shipwreck have never been done in Tiger Force colors.
And the best of all!
Along with that Rock n'Roll and BBQ seen here:
Reposting old shots
"Plan of attack"
>3. Doesnt matter if the gear is better if the user is ignorant how to set it up.
True. I pretty much have no idea what I'm doing(should probably start learning), so I usually have to take several photos to get one to look okay. Here's some pics from 2012, the first is typical of what I'm capable of. I don't know what happened in the second, maybe it was cold and my hand fogged up the lens, but I haven't taken a pic like that again. The third I didn't care about, it was taken just in case someone wanted to know the source of the building.
IIRC the zombie figure barely got released as it did in terms of it getting approved only after massive concessions were made to make it less scary (like the blue color) and even then Hasbro then declared "you will never be allowed to do anything like that again".
I would not be shocked if the only reason we got JoeCon zombies was because it was a big event and not retail.
ANY retail release will probably never see the light of day. Meaning you best press the fan club to push for more zombie figures as they are the only ones who can sell them.
Joe is going to be a club exclusive line from next year on. 75% of the releases the past 2 years have been club exclusives, all the desired characters, club exclusives. Want anything past 86 reissued? Club exclusive.
Would be nice to get a modern Tele-Viper single carded, without having to buy other stuff along with it. And not a club or subscription only figure.
Next years ARW stuff is going to be cool.
I am most excited for soil ghosts.
It was with the Resolute 7-pack Zartan.
If this happens I will be sad. Not surprised - just sad.
Also I'm not saying that all the club members are assholes but the more vocal and visible ones are.
If it happens I would like to see more interest in the wares of independents by more people.
Man, I spent like 3 years collecting joes and now I think im gonna sell them. Pretty much have nothing but the modern figures. Best bet to sell them is ebay? Doubt I could get much on craigslist.
Got me a weaponless/webgearless Deadpool from my local thrift shop.
Anyone got some decent suggestions for replacement webgear for old Wade?
You score a M.A.Rs industries trooper 3-pack?
Maybe something from the ten thousand snake eye variants out there. I'd use this ROC Rescue Mission 4-pack one in my storage
Seriously, what's up with deadpool collectors. I once found at least 3 loose sets of the x-force 3-pack minus deadpool, also at a thrift store.
Grats. Now you just need to find 10 more packs to build an army.
I made one of those a few years ago and posted it here not trying to take credit but if you happened to see it and that's what inspired you that would make me really happy.
What the fuck are you talking about? The entire line's 2 year life of releases can be had for under $700. If you can't afford $700 in 2 years then you are too poor for anything other than foodstamps and welfare.
>tfw local retail never brought in the better part of Retaliation.
Almost the same thing where I live. Regular stores didn't have them, but Tuesday Morning stores had some. Don't know where I found out about that. Ended up using their online SKU stock locator feature to see which stores had them.
Tuesday Morning stores are pretty scattered about here, so on a day off work I drove around hunting and was moderately successful. Reading back on Joe message boards, I wish there had been ROSS discount stores nearby when they were really getting Joes in.
Hunting around at closeout stores can be kinda fun, but it was nice being able to walk into Wal-Mart and get a decent Joe or Star Wars figure for about $7.
It's kinda biased though huh?
My friend trains troops for the Canadian Forces (and does drill with iPods for the clueless.) and was telling me that the nice thing about Canada was there was a place everywhere in the country for all environments and terrain for training. She also blew up a turkey the first time she used a rocket launcher.
nah, that would be pic related. yours is a close second though.
Shit, it is huge. But pretty damn cool. Looks like the ramp is missing from the rear, and one of the panels from the bed.
Gotta transport shit with better efficiency. Tanks get like 15mpg.
I got a bunch when these were at the Warehouse (country wide chain store in New Zealand).
I got a few more lockers from Marauder's store:
SHODO Kamen Rider VS Kamen Rider
Case assortment was Ichigo and V3 heavy, but there's two of each figure.
There will be a second wave in April http://www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=GOODS-00065756&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dshodo+kamen%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1
No idea what the assortment will be like, but as it's 6 figures(the five shown plus a secret) in a set of 10, who knows.
Oh shoot nevermind, those are Resolute Cobra Troopers not AVs. My bad. Still, those Resolute designs are great. Really wish i would of troop built some of those.
Honestly, they're not really worth the price. They have a lot of poseability, but that's thanks to the really lanky bodies and that brings down the look for them.
Vehicles are badass though. These are worth the money.
They are expensive, but honestly I kind of just like supporting the brand. I'm glad there's another 1/18 scale line doing their own thing and Kit Lau seems like a cool guy. Next year's got cool stuff in pipeline and I'm looking forward to those releases more than some of the stuff that's come out so far.
From where I am from, joes are massively overpriced and acid rain figs are sold at srp. So they are about 2x the price of a desirable joe figure. Heck they are even cheaper than figures like the PoC Shocktrooper.
So my choices nowadays are to get any of the 50th double packs or to get an acid rain fig. Yeah Ill go for the acid rain one. Articulation and posed form looks so much better.
Also, I'm kind of bored of the typical "cobra" buck. It's not very good. I end up replacing most of my bodies with marauder ones anyway. See pic related.
Most Gi Joe bucks suffer from one or many of these problems: hands are horrible at holding guns, legs aren't of the same length, no wrist articulation. The popular firefly figure suffer from these two of these issues.
Well, my wallet's been set up for some fresh hell. Saint Seiya 1/18 modifiable playsets.
Chrome, Greek mythos(ish), yeah, this is going to kill me.
They're even making sure there are replaceable face plates.
Here's a decent shot of most of one of the sets.
His set's about 30 bucks, thank you incredibly low yen.
Pope's chamber, on the other hand, is about 50, but dat First Order bonus.
I'm definitely going to drop some cash on this line.
Last I'll post for now, and it's because of that lower left image. I can't wait to make a labyrinth.
That circular knee joint and spherical, revoltech-like elbow joint reminds me of their Disk Wars Avengers figures. In retrospect, it seemed like their experimental step in making 1/18 figures.
Those look really awesome. I just wish the manga didn't leave such a bad taste in my mouth or I might buy into the line too. Ah well there's always the Shodo line which I hope they keep pumping out.
Rumors and hearsay at this point but I'd figure I'd post this...Fun Pub might be losing the Joe/Transformer license....this could be the last Joe con and botcon.. no body knows whats happening right now but subscriptions for the mags end in December.
>Lone Deadpool on a peg
Santa is real.
Prices (in pesos, $1 = Php45)
SW Black series 4" - Php700
Joe Pegwarmer (ex. Kwinn)- Php400
Joe Regular Fig (ex. Ultimate SS) - Php 800
Joe Desireable Figure (ex. Reta Jaye) - Php1000
50th Double Pack - Php1200
Acid Rain Fig - Php1300
We don't get joes mass retail anymore, so we buy from well known hobby shops and importers.
I got a set for 15 bucks, I think is the fisrt time ever being an eurofag was worth, usually I have to pay like twice the price for Joes.
Although I think I should stop expending money on toys and get a decent camera.
If anybody's interested these 1:18 military toys seem to have been restocked, at least at one Dollar Tree in the Milwaukee, WI area. Don't know if that's true for other stores. The packaging for the riot gear is the same as the kayak set.
Also at Menard's they have what looks like a scaled down version of the True Heroes AB-115 Shark on clearance for I believe $15. Packaging said it was 22" long, don't know how well it would hold 1:18 figures.
BBI has higher quality corpse fodder...with relevant expressions.
There's a couple screws holding the figures together that can be reused. Other than that I dunno. On the plus side the kayak isn't bad. The oar is straight and not floppy. Guns are decent too, not like the rubbery noodles found in the PTE sets. A coat of flat spray paint might look good. Not bad for a dollar.
I cant speak about the figures, as I bought the vehicles separately, But as far as the vehicles go, those are pretty decent.
The new railguns on the HISS are awesome. Don't like the orange HISS? The turret can easily be swapped with previous models.
The Skystriker is a good vehicle, and the colors are great. With custom labels from Cobrastickers, tit can make an awesome Night Force Nightboomer 2.0
>Assuming Zombie Viper is still banned from reissuing,
Why would they do something like that? That's retarded. Zombie figures are practically like PRINTING money. People would be lined up around the corner to buy a reissue
Proof Hasbro is run by incompetents.
>I know the sub club is doing Pythona FINALLY
Actually she's the sign-on bonus figure for joining.
>>Any word on what the Convention set for 2016 might be?
No. But tit will entail one or more of the following.
1 - Re-hashing a lineup made earlier with o-ring figures. (2002 Crimson Vipers, 2005 Iron Grenadiers)
2 - A RAH era sub-team, but badly done. Leaving out original members and shoehorning in new members that were never part of the lineup (Night Force Steeler, Eco Warrior Tjbang and Clutch), and getting the original members they do use colors wrong (Mission Brazil, Tiger Force Recondo. Eco Warrior Outback)
3 - Poor quality control
4 - Grotesquely overpriced as fuck.
>OG Dial Tone
Maybe. But none of the versions issued at conventions. Perhaps a "Comic Pack" color Zarana
Seeing as how the original team members in the Convention Mission Brazil II are distinctly different than the vintage team, doing a vintage style team ought to be permissible. Use the concept vault Leatherneck, frankenstein better bodies for Claymore and Dial-Tone
With the Club issuing a Cobra Stinger jeep in Sears exclusive "Dreadnok Ground Assault" colors, Id love to see a retail set of the Dreadnok Ground Assault RAM cycle and the Dreadnok Air Assault Skyhawk and FANG copter packed together
Comic Pack color Zarana
Supersonic Fighters color Road Pig
CLear concept case stealth Zartan
>Lifeline was just released as a convention set so he's out
Correction: Tiger Force Lifeline is out. A re-issue of the original use of the mold would still be possible
We do need a proper 50th Snake-Eyes, Like use the Retaliation Ultimate Snake-Eyes. Either as a straight up re-issue or in Sunbow colors
>> Hawk... Shipwreck have never been done in Tiger Force colors
Hawk was made in the 2004 TF vs Dreadnoks set. Granted it was supposed to be Zartan disguised as Hawk, but it still technically counts as a Hawk
TF Shipwreck was an FSS offering
But why actually do that when they can make shitty non-articulated star wars figures any idiot will buy.
The funny thing is put some of the figure heads on Marauder bodies...and away we go!
So im told this isn't actually 1/18 and that joes won't fit in it?
Not even the most flexible/slender ones?
I'm aching for 1/18 rides.
How do the corps/bootles vehicles go with Joes? You know, the mostly green plastic ones.
Generally, most play vehicles with accompanying 4" figures (or larger) are compatible with Joes. Pic is one of the jeep molds from Chap Mei, now released under TRU's True Heroes house brand.
The problem with Star Wars is that their figures are traditionally 3.75", a tad smaller. Open rides like the wheelbike may work but I have no experience with them.
Only thing is and I don't know why but I can't use non hasbro vehicles for my joes. I know, I know "Are you Austic or something?" but theres just an obvious quality difference in the plastic or paint. the one exception being the TRU AC-130...that thing is boss.
I understand what you mean about quality. Hasbro's stuff from like 2004~2012 were fantastic. But times have changed. Just look at this TFA walker. Even in the stock photos, it looks as cheap as the Chap Mei vehicles, but at a much higher price.
Thankfully, Joes have a library of good vehicles they can reissue, but who knows if Hasbro will start making new, quality vehicles again. It may be a good time to open up to some alternative brands.
> I don't know why but I can't use non hasbro vehicles for my joes. I know, I know "Are you Austic or something?" but theres just an obvious quality difference in the plastic or paint.
That is pretty autistic if it's just because you don't like the feel of the plastic.
I personally don't like a lot of bare unpainted plastic, like that jeep not having painted headlights and other areas not having color.
Current GI Joe stuff is basically the same stuff we've been getting since they restarted the line with GI Joe Vs Cobra, at least the vehicles.
That SW vehicle looks cheap because its legs are solid pieces instead of having articulation. Otherwise, it looks pretty good.
If you are interested in the Chap Mei molds, you might want to check out Excite Limited's offerings. They have been releasing Chap Mei's stuff under their brands:
>US Navy Seals
>US Coast Guard
Endorsed by the same organizations or something, i dunno. But slapping the army's olive or the coast guard's orange onto those toys make the look less toyetic compared to the TRU Heroes line. Paint apps are better in this line too.
Pic is one the better Chap Mei jeep molds that Excite is using. (soldiers are cheap ones from BBI)
There was this guy in the Extreme conditions 7-pack back in the 25th days.
And prior to that there was for the vintage ARAH construction the guy in the Cobra Cobra Infantry Forces 6-Pack and also the Night Watch 6 pack.
Huh, totally forgot I ordered a single grey guy from the Valkyries KS. Neat. Looks great and I'm digging the new bearded face.
Welp there are NO JOES at my local TRU Superstore in Toronto. There are two stores that sell them here but not a lot of choice.
Mostly the lady J Baroness shit. (I actually saw someone who had repainted the Lady J and it proved it was the paint app not the sculpt that made her look like a cow.
I was basically just going to go for Valkyries anyway but if you want troops (especially Cobra troops) of any ethnicity other than white or female troops other than J or the Baroness you have to pay much more on the after-market.
I'm kind of laughing now though.
The lack of a Rey in any of the Star Wars stuff from action figures to monopoly is pissing people off.
Finally those people who would buy warm shit if it said "Star Wars" are becoming a bit more aware of their figures. They are still lapping them up despite garbage articulation.
- and who the fuck buys those tall ones?
Got this sweet girl. She's AMAZING. Not only does it look great, the foldable trigger and cocking mechanism adds an extra fun factor to it.
Dang, I really wish I was collecting Joes during the first movie.
Im a big fan of mixing joe parts and MtF. The results are amazing.
The prices suck though. Each mtf build could cost about $20-$30. Easily twice or thrice a regular joe. The good thing is you can order them in bulk. It would be hard to find a single army builder joe figure five times for example.
Pic is my next target. I need 3 more cobra troopers and a brown body for major bludd.
see my Meme about it.
I love the MTF figures but half the customs are the same fucking thing over and over again. something that was supposed to revolutionize 1:18th figures it just ended up being as repetitive as the franken joes...for three times the amount. I hope we get Wave 8 for the weapons this year. something that won't break my wallet.
The way I see it, its just like a buying a super popular troop builder. Sure its repetitive but in my world, I only use MTF bodies for cobras so it evens out with joes. Cobras get that uniform look while joes stay true to their hasbro iteration.
Do you have a pic of that Lady Jaye? I fixed my Baroness.
Given how they are running out of name figures, I would think we will FINALLY get Captain Gridiron in a convention set.
He's the last big name Joe character NOT to get an updated figure and since we now have metalhead done, no real excuse exists not to do Gridiron.
I like it, lots of steps for figures
I'm also liking the launching missiles gimmick more than i should at 24
although the MTF can also produce some neat shit
I've been eyeing the shark plane for the whole of 2015, but my local TRU just refuses to discount it. Hopefully 2016 will be promising.
>>Vitruvian Hacks Pre-Orders are now open!!
Wow they actually did release male and female blanks. I guess I be getting back into 1/18 scale stuff.
Except Joe, which may as well be dead for me.
Im glad the accessories don't cost $25, just $10 for the packs. That was my only gripe about the mtf figs. $12 a body isnt bad, but the vests and shit all cost $4, vest, helmet, pouches, holsters etc. Nice for custom fodder for sure but a bitch to the wallet if you army build.
My plans for the blank bodies is to create cloth clothes. It's something I've thought about since I was collecting as a kid, especially when I found out about Microman/Material Force figures as a teenager.
My eventual plan is to do ~10 figures and get super thin material to make coveralls/jumpsuits/flightsuits for a 1/18 star ship custom (sort of in the vein of Traveller, but now I'm thinking of doing a vertical deck plan like The Expanse) I was working on (had to start over after a move, which is fine, there's a lot about scratch building I've learned since then).
It's perfect for me because I've been disappointed with most 1/18, and toys in general, at retail for the last few years.
The problem l think is the fact that there really aren't a lot of "off the rack" personalities available. MTF does provide diversity within the team or troop but their aren't any commanders/ heroes. If you don't have the skills or the time / motivation then you are shit out of luck. But on the other side of things making hero figures can be costly - and how do you satisfy everyone? You end up having to almost create your own character mythology and back story. THAT wouldn't make everybody happy either.
They have gotten a lot of colour use out of that one body and all the accessories, I like that they're building on that with each addition, what with the Valkyries and the Steady Came Gunner in the works from the last kickstarter.
I've been sticking to the accessories and vests mainly. Upgrading my Joes/Cobras and others.
I'd like to see Marauder make a good M16A1. I like the A2 they did, but we need a good A1 and an XM177/CAR15.
Man those BFS blanks have got me excited for 1/18 again like I haven't been in a few years.
I have 3 from the initial kickstarter and I'm getting some of the Valks. I'm really happy about the gas masks.
I would love to find someone who did the old school "snozzle" masks though.
a bit better for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
I'd be interested in hearing any of your progress when making 1:18 clothing. After some work using paper templates wrapped around the figure, I made a serviceable first set of 1:18 cloth pants. They don't look nearly as good as I'd like but it's a start. It would be nice to share tips and tricks.
I was having trouble sewing something that small, and only managed a bit. A product called Liquid Stitch worked pretty well to adhere the seams.
Here's a Tru heros one.
The figures are ass as are the weapons but hey you know...
- you could probably mod the tank and make it more an anti-aircraft unit.
Or this one
WITH MISSILES THAT REALLY SHOOT! :)
(couldn't help it. - sorry)
I think they're going overboard with the nerf cannons.
Maybe this fits what you're looking for.
I have no access to PTE toys here so I dunno how it's like though.

I still desire the Amazon Renegades 4 pack too...
I'll probably come back in here.
