I'm always so on the fence with these figures. What's the general consensus here? Worth the money if you like the aesthetic?

I was thinking of picking up the initial three of these (as well as the ones with no super big QC issues yet), should I do so or wait for future MoMos I may like better, and to see how the quality is? There's been a fuckton of new types showcased by Optune, so I'm curious as to whether these'll be slated for release and when so I don't kick myself over getting the first three later.

Since the POs are over for those three anyway I'll have to get 'em kinda-sorta secondhand. I was thinking Ekia hobby'd do the trick, you guys have any opinions? I dunno if they're still selling them since they don't show up on the in-site search. I'm just hoping that's a temporary fluke for now.

Arukemia, Artemisia, (I may be butchering these names, fuck) and the the mantis-type have no release dates yet, though Optune has posted some backstory to them and more pics on his twitter.

The three in the pic I posted are the aforementioned newer animal themed MoMos Optune showed off on his twitter. No real news on POs for them yet, so keep an eye open.

Figmoe Lurker did a pretty good job of keeping the other thread posted on this kind of news.

MoMos are Original Effect's newest line of figures. They're prebuilt, pre-painted articulated figures of robot chicks. They fight stuff. OE mostly specializes in 1/6 figures and some other stuff.

You can usually buy them from import sites like AmiAmi, HLJ, Hobbysearch, Mandarake, or others like Ekia Hobby and BBTS or even Amazon, though Amazon's got the most badly inflated prices due to their purchase commission. On AmiAmi and Hobbysearch in particular you can't really buy too many as they were all purchased on PO stage.

As figures they're really, really articulate and intended to be modular, some key parts can be removed and swapped out. Pretty nice.

Generally they're alright. Some promo issues, especially on the last two to be released, Hi-Riridine and Chocolatte, which had much less cool paintjobs than people'd thought they'd come with as well as some missing decor. Similar things had happened as early as Ingenue, though.

Some QC issues as well, mostly with joints, but this is less common.

IDK if someone here have Bunny Daisy, but based on the pics I have seen in the interweebs, she looks like don't have any major issue regarding paint apps or something similar, Hi-Rirdine and Chocolatte have a dull metailic paintjob
I can understand that someone can said they are a bit overpriced, but to be honest the prices for most japan/chinese figures have increased, also these figures are pretty big (22cm/8.75in), So you are getting more plastic than your average 5in 1/12 figure, also the design is cool IMHO and they can swap pieces between them, which is really neat.
So, It worth the money if you like the aesthetic? I would say, fuck yes

Anon with the broken hi-ridine from the last thread. OE's website has a contact module that doesn't work, so I attempted to contact them via their email. No response there. Some anons advised me to check in on their facebook page, and I have, but it hasn't seem to have updated in quite awhile, and I have yet to have gotten a response.

Pretty disappointed. The figure looks great (though far below the promo shots) but the stiff joints and loose pieces as well as mine coming in broken are big deterrents. Sucks because i'm loving all of these designs they are putting out. I may just wait for the mantis one, since that was the one I had originally wanted, but damn, if i'm not tempted to try for the moth one too.

Amiami doesn't usually do much to help with broken figures. I once had a figure come with a missing arm, and amiami's response was "We'll give you 700 amiami points." From what I gather, north american consumers would abuse the customer support for free shit, so now they barely do anything. Unless they've gotten better. I haven't used their CS in a year.

No, it's not the peg thats loose. It's the part connecting the joints. I first thought the joint fell out in the packaging, but instead it had snapped or wasn't properly made. The only thing I can think of was that the twist tie or the shrink wrap put too much pressure on it during packaging.

Interestingly, Optune was saying he felt a little bad about color variations on his Twitter, though he's overall satisfied with the project, I think. That, and some of his "old shames", kits he'd made from 10+ years ago.

I'm just hoping the project continues, what it's put out so far is pretty alright.

Release dates are general and generic at best, no concrete information.
Preorders will most probably be on the usual import sites, Amiami, HLJ, Hobbysearch, etc as these are the sites that were used for all of the MoMos that have been released so far.

The story of the MoMos already exists. They're basically kinda-sorta alien technology further developed and utilized by humans for the purpose of fighting invading forces among other things. They have/need pilots. They do seem to have some issues, as the insect team's existence is partially to hunt "rouge" MoMos.
You can see pics of some of the dudes they fight in the last thread, little robotic fellows who're almost implike in stature compared to your average MoMo.

One of the big things with MoMos is, as >>5324461 mentioned, modularity, but also some people just straight up customise their MoMos to be whatever they want with good old fashioned paint and scratchbuilding. Figmoe Lurker posted a super-customized bunny type just earlier, and in the WonFes edition thread there was a Miku custom posted, painted from one of the two WonFes exclusive MoMos.

Clothes are also definitely doable. Some other MoMos shown off at Wonfes had clothes parts and of course there's the nurse types, but it's also to be considered that pretty much everything we're discussing has yet to be released. You're likely gonna be waiting the better part of a year for this, remember that.

I dunno why you wouldn't want your robot gal to look nice, though.

None of the MoMos really have that kind of aesthetic. Closest you could get is one of the huge weapons of sorts on the Goddess types or military types, no huge backpacks or the like without the owner adding them themselves.

I also don't get why you'd want to make a character who's pretty much 80% western property out of a MoMo, much less one who can't transform, but to each their own.

I did some digging on Optune's twitter. Basically, the little impish fellows are scratchbuilt with Gunpla parts and then sprayed, by the looks of it. Pretty fitting for Optune, considering his origins, and pretty good photo results. Too bad nobody could ever buy 'em, though.

It really probably isn't gonna happen. If you take a look at the stuff Optune posts and the prototypes he makes it seem pretty clear that tacticool isn't too much of what he's going for. Within month's worth of tweets and artwork, anything coming even close to what you're describing, like Cyuchergoh with a minigun, has come from fans. If it does happen I'd expect it to be even further away in release time than the animal-type and insect type releases.

The MoMos are intended to emulate or expy gods, monsters, animals, and human figures, and this is evident in well-on every single released model and prototype shown. Alright, anon with the broken Hi-Rirdine again. I take back everything bad I said about OE, because these people are really sweet. They checked out stocks and couldn't find any replacement parts, so they contacted me saying that they plan on "rebuilding a new one" for me. Thats really kind of them. It's gonna take awhile due to the festivals going on in china, but it's still really nice of them to be that considerate.

When I got Ingenue a few months back, she came with a missing hand, but she also comes with a repeated hand (pic related, the missing hand was a right sword-wielding hand)
At that time I contacted Amico (from where I get her) and they told me that they would contact the manufacturer to get the missing hand and after a couple of weeks, they got it, so the OE guys are cool, but they're slow, even in their FB seems like some people have posted comments about that they have updated their FB site with any updates or releases dates

Maybe if said palette swaps were released en masse there'd be something to say or some merit to what you'd said but as of yet all of the existing recolors have at least introduced unique colors to the line. Eins, Zwei, and Clematis are the only recolors, and I'd say that's pretty good so far, whereas Hi-Riridine and Chocolatte have introduced new (if boring) colors and parts. The cylindrical boxes are nice and better IMO than the first rectangular boxes

Daisy looks good, the joint in her lower neck is a little bit loose (not too much DESU) but her hair piece and ears are a little heavy, so make her head to going backwards a bit too easy

Does Eins have anything special about her other than the yellow highlights? Almost makes her look like a Titans Gundam MkII, but not sure if that's enough to justify getting her.

She doesn't come with any other accessorie aside the extra hands, Maybe a extra hair piece or any weapon like Chocolatte or Hi-Rirdine would have been nice. Zwei is in the same boat as it only come with extra hands
So, if you want some kind of weapons for her, you will have to get some Koto's M.S.G kits or some gundam weapons

That's a shame. I got Nazibutt because she had a distinctive look but passed on White because she was a bit too plain for the money. Eins will probably be passed fro the same reason. Bunny doesn't do much for Me either.

Most of the time it's fine. Sometimes you get a bad joint like Hi-Riridine anon but ~98 of the time it's all as it should be.

I was a little worried about her stability, I have a Cyuchergoh and she's a little wobbly, but Rocketeer is very solid, even with the launcher and the rockets on her back. She comes with quite a bit of kit and I'm glad to see can carry every bit of it no problem.

The pants were a tight fit, they barely made it over her hips & butt. Her tank top is bigger than I expected (the promo shots implied exposed underboob was your only option, but it's not)

The goggles were probably the hardest thing to get on. The strap is quite small and I'm worried about paint from the eyepiece marking her forehead.

The outfit doesn't restrict the articulation at all except for the long boots, and even then it took only a minute of fiddling to get her ankles to cooperate. I wish she had a separate set of bare feet but that's a minor nit. I think she's fantastic and worth every penny.

Please god implement a better way to attach it to the head. The one I have is just held on by those ear horns, which keeps it on well enough but it wobbles around like nothing else. Adding extra weight to that equation seems like a bad idea.
