Read the guide:
Where to buy second hand:
>eBay/Amazon - only if you hate having too much money. Avoid Latvia.
>Mandarake - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images (they sometimes get mixed up).
>Yahoo Japan Auctions - same kanji as above, you'll need a proxy, try Yokatta, Noppin, or FromJapan.
>Taobao - search 武装神姬 and use a proxy, Taobaoring is pretty easy and cheap. Taoboafocus might be faster.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned. They tend to sell fast.
>Japtou still has some old stock but their system is unreliable.
>Check the BST, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World for sales.
Fellow Shinki anons who made 3D printer/laser cut accessories & replacement parts:
(1/12 clothes like Picco Neemo should be compatible with MMS figures)
Skintone & Compatability guides:

So, on another whim, I bought a HF crawler and decided to modify the exosuit into this 4-legged hellspawn with none other that Mari at the helm
I think it's one of those clip-style photo holders. Some of them have interesting bases that can be used as props.
i dont have a halloween theme ready this year, so i only played around with Proxima and boy does she balance well,
just happy halloween greetings to all you guys and gals instead I guess
Received my Murm from a fellow UK shinkifag a few weeks ago and totally forgot to post pics, leg joints are a little loose but I fucking love her.
Going to buy more kotobukiya weapons to compliment her walking death machine aesthetic.
>It's Halloween! Post spooky Shinkies/Shinkies with lots of candy.
Morning after's close enough.
Was gonna post this last night but got a little caught up in some revelry.
So happy to have a cute little Gabrine around again.
I have her, and she is great one. But on mine there was a "dot" of black paint on one of her face-plates that looks like a Beauty Mark. Give me some time I will post a picture tomorrow.
Dumping some photos from Sasaki3092's flickr because they are relevant to Halloween and adorbs.
Meriedna was my first Shinki. She's pretty neat for a light armor.
Even though I'm late for Halloween, have an old pumpkinvision photo
I was wondering, it's really hard to notice a shinki mouth in photos.
Have any anons tried lining shinki mouths with a gundam marker or mechanical pencil? How would that look? Is it easily reversible if I fuck it up?
Lip-lining can be tricky. I fashion my own ink applicator by using a razor blade to cut a Q-tip's stick diagonally, then paint the narrow edge with a marker. I then apply it to their lips like lipstick, so I can have control over exactly what gets marked. Works pretty well.
Saw a Shinki corner at a figure event in Moscow today. My heart is now a little bit warmer inside.
And another one hanging out in the doll section for whatever reason.
I use Vis-a-Vis wet-erase markers, makes it very easy to clean up after. Alcohol can remove the coating that makes MMS3rd faces matte, so harsher inks probably aren't a good idea.
Also, if you want to use weirder colors like orange, brown or yellow (to make it just look like a lip shadow, rather than lipstick) make sure you do it in natural light. Rules for makeup apply - incandescent lighting can make something look good indoors when it'll look horrific outside.
You can also dilute the ink on the q-tip with a drop of water to make the ink a softer color, but that'll ruin the hard edge of the cut you made after a single application, so you'll need to make another one if you make a mistake.
All shinkis are cute. Just depends on what your preference is.
Depends.What's your definition of cute?
Oh Raptias. She was my first serious Shinki purchase and I don't regret getting her. I love her armor design and the fact you can adjust the visor on her helmet. Plus if you find someone will to sell you a spare set of her armor you can make even cooler combinations with her.
good to hear, gonna get my raptias from manda (6k yen) soon, hopefully before the week ends so proxima gets a buddy
im already shinking what should be my next, merienda, lavina strarf mk2 or recolored arnval tranche 2
Plasticizers are generally sticky clearish liquids that usually appear as surface grime on figures, and small droplets can form in really bad cases. But unless you have a bunch of super cheap carnival toys like this thing http://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/comments/zu5m4/what_material_is_this_toy_frog_made_out_of_its/ then they won't exude enough of it to pool anywhere. "Cabinet" makes me think it's something with glass and wood, and blue liquid makes me think Windex. The obvious guess is maybe you cleaned the glass and didn't dry it completely. Post pics.
Since the yen is cheap im considering getting my very first shinki.
Im currently going through the very difficult process of choosing one.
Right now its between Ach and Valona
Once I settle where would be a good place to purchase?
I actually really want an MMS 3 tall body but cant find one with cute face that I'd like.
Also, any other shinkis with a chest plate like Ianeira's?
Alright let's see:
>Once I settle where would be a good place to purchase?
Mandarake is the go-to place for most shinkies. AmiAmi will also have some pop up in their pre-owned section.
>I actually really want an MMS 3 tall body but cant find one with cute face that I'd like.
Why not Harmony Grace?
>Also, any other shinkis with a chest plate like Ianeira's?
Ianeira is the only Shinki I know of with those chestplates
> The guide
> What the other anon said
That being said I do remember how much I love Ianeira. She was my second shinki, kinda want the regular one seeing as I originally have the alter color.
> What is HG like the other anon said.
She is fun. However I only seem to ever use her winking face.
Valona is has minimal armor and really good balance without a stand thanks to her shoes. Shinkis are notorious because people tend to just forget about their armors and only play with the MMS, but with Valona, you likely won't run into that issue cause her armor is really streamlined even though it's pretty small in number. Werkstra is also pretty similar in that regard. Both of that wave also kind of work as expansion sets to their main-line counterparts, Arnval and Strarf.
With Ach, you get a good load of armor as well as a bunch of weapons and even some jellycans, so there's a lot of play value in that alone. However, using said armor as... well.. armor is pretty fiddly. She has pointed feet so a stand is a must unless you're godly at balancing things, and the chunks that go around her thighs tend to swing around a lot and get in the way of things.
It really depends on what you're going for.
Any suggestions for my first shinki? I don't want to buy something too expensive yet, but my favorite shinkis are the ones with the "big eyed kid" aesthetic like the ferret, fox, dog, and cat figures. I might buy the "prototype" ferret girl but I'd like some insight.
The prototypes of Pomock and Partio are pretty light on the armor and are on MMS 1 bodies but the do include some exclusive things (Like Pomock's Axe). If possible try to go out for their MMS 3 bodies. Never had Partio but I do have Pomock and she's pretty fun
Prototype versions look ok, but the MMS 1st bodies are taller and less refined than the 3rd smalls. I'm guessing since you want the big eyes you want the bodies to look suitable moe too, so if that's the case it will be worth a little extra for the normal version. I noticed listing for non-prototype Partio and Pamrock just popped up on eBay so you shouldn't have to settle for a prototypes.
First shinki I got was a Partio, go for the full set instead of the prototype, since you'll get more stuff like armor and a extra face swap.
Pomock's fun too. Going for the full thing goes double for her.
Thanks for that input, it definitely helps alot.
What Im looking for is a go-to-toy, I'll have it on my desk and pose routinely. So Im glad you did a good job on pointing out both their flaws and their strong points. Someone else recommend Harmony Grace, so now im just hunting for a good deal on all 3; I will be happy with whichever comes first thanks to the info from you guys.
Here is a cute pic
Didn't know HG was as well, but thats okay. Thanks for the heads up
I really love the whole idea behind busou shinki being personal assistants and the universe around it. The story is what got me hooked, so getting a shinki to me is more about having a 1:1 scale physical representation of that. Anybody else feel that way? Its more about the idea than the toy per se
I agree, too. Though I'm finding that the fact that each wave is basically designed by a different artist who Konami basically told to go nuts with few constraints is what's really attaching me to the line. There's simply nothing else like it out there.
Just realized I don't have much that can fit Ianera and her fish mammaries...
> Konami can still produce garbage in things like it's card game, but not more shinkis
I've always disliked Konami, but ever since I got into shinkis it's increased exponentially. Well, after the series slowed down to a crawl, that is.
shes here ugh i wanna escape from work or better yet just open her here
first second hand shinki from manda, if i have to nit pick, it does look pretty "second hand" (a black spot on one of her face plate) and the parts look abit worn
well, its not much of a complain but more of an observation im just glad shes here
for some reason raptias felt taller when ibwas assembling her
I should try to find more vehicles but 1:12 motorcycles and Shinkies don't mix
don't forget to post the result here then
Love shinkis, kinda hate figmas since most feel so delicate, considering I'm extremely delicate with both. Doesn't stop me from buying figmas, but I own way more shinkis than figmas. Accessories are rather appealing though.
The crates? like,, boxes? come with just about every boxed MMS3 Shinki (mms1 had a hideyhole in the underside of the stand)
Jelly cans are pretty desirable but hard to come by as only a few had them (some local shinkibro made 3d printed oversized ones you can buy)
while technically still weapons, Baby Razz and Sharatang come with Instruments.
and Pomocks got a big piece o Meat.
A few shinkis. Like the VicViper twins and the bug girls have armor that can combine into something separate from themselves (VicVipers and Bugs,, obviously)
but for the wide majority part, we get our non armor accesories separately.
As I said back then - 1:12 Microbikes like the Gorilla series and the Motorcompo work with Shinkis, everything else's too damn big.
The Brits make a series of naturalistic 1:12 horses. There are also 1:12 playsets that contain a horse, its tack and some other gear.
Took me a while to get these done, a mixture of laziness and forgetfulness I suppose.
I never owned them but I remember seeing an ad for them about 10 years ago where the armor could be removed to form little animal partners for them. Not sure if the armor was interchangable between figures, though.
> just one more
I remember when I told myself the same thing.
No. Not JUST one more. AT LEAST one more. I've been dabbling in figures long enough to know better than to think I'm stopping at a set number of anything.
I've simply seen one that I'm definitely picking up and two that I'm still debating.
Really though it depends on how Koto pitches them. Full on cute action figures with optional interchangeable armor is shinki enough to shink. But if they're model kits like their Racaseal and Hoi-Hoi-san and friends, well, I an see those getting pushed to the Gunpla threads.
Yes and no, it seems like they're all going to be designed by Fumikane, which is a good and a bad at the same time. The good; it's Fumikane. The bad; it's just Fumikane so there's hardly any variety.
And now a quick story.
Back on spookiween, I showed off my Centaur exosuit and never got back around to showing off the base form with the jetpack so here to help me show it off is Raptias!
Say hi to the people Raptias.
So how's your first time in the exosuit?
>A bit cramped and I miss my feet. Can I get out now?
So result. MMS 3rd smalls only work in the exosuit and never tell Raptias to take her feet off. Say bye Raptias
Anyone have the Shinki version of that comic strip of the black guy going in the gamestop store? "You know, Shinkis 'n flow." "Uh, we have a squirrel type Pomock" "A'ight, tight! I be rollin wit da toy soldias now!" "Please don't kill me." or something.
The first thread I ever saw on toy was some planelegs thread where he was torturing a toy (some kind of doll I think, certainly not a Shinki).
I didn't come back to this place for over a year because I assumed the whole board was some kind of weird fetish thing.
I kind of miss him now.
Good times, good times.
He was the /toy/ version of early Dan Kim with all that torture porn.
Has it really been two years since the anime ended? Well so much for my hope that the higher market prices would go back down after the Plebeians left. There's no way they'd stick around this long. Ashamed to admit I've been poorfag about gettink Shinki. Also I'm stubborn that my first must be Partio, and not the cheaper prototype version either.
DiDi and ViVi: Kamen Rider and ViVi Onry Edition
In the spirit of planelegs. adventure time.
just some light petting is all.
so I recently placed an order on bricklink for some minifig utensils, and the tools fit the shinkie hands perfectly. power drills, screwdrivers, socket wrenches, among other things. The best thing is how cheap it is. 3 dollars shipped and cheaper than buying the custom 1/12 alternatives or individual parts off ebay.
I plan to get her as well, but I figured that would be the case after my experience with Maochao here.
But like, robo-catgirl with a drill? Yeah, no way I was planning to pass that up, no matter how hard it is to pose.
10/10, trips, and warm fuzzy feelings were felt.
Speaking of ebay, took a chance and won this stuff. I'm aware of what the black haired one is (and how much work it looks like it needs), but I'm not aware of the rest. More Plastica stuff? Resin shinki gun/chest recasts?
Lazer cutter Anon, any chance of anything along the lines of this stuff http://blog.livedoor.jp/axllows/archives/41330992.html
I'd buy them. They'd go great with that Wizard circle I got from Richigo
I had the first bid on those and got distracted making gunpla. Was gonna strip and airbrush them, bad times. Glad they went to someone in this thread i suppose.
Those are nice, I haven't got as free access to the laser anymore, so am investing 5k back into my business to buy my own. got any better pics?
Loads of pics here
the turret is pleased. excellent. excelleeent.
>Did you buy all of that from a single seller?
the ones shown yes. just search for a big seller or with big numbers. they tend to stock lots along the same line. I have some other tools not shown that I got from another. those are for DiDi though.
and yes, lego minifig utensil for laptop brings up a nicely sized laptop that folds and has a carry handle for a dollar on avg + 3$ shipping for a bag you can fill up with a number of other goodies. It's easy to get carried away since there's so much stuff you can get.
these look super nice.
yes, the screwdriver is from lego, both the flat head and electric one.
Was overjoyed to find my first shinki in the mail today after a long day of classes!
>They never gave her the happy faceplate
She was such a genki shinki in the game.
