TFcon is happening so we'll probably get many new reveals over the weekend going by the influx of new shit last year. Hopefully we can keep it confined to one thread. In recent news, the Predaking War has nothing on the Dinobot war. As of yesterday we know of about 8 different companies making their own versions of the Dinobots. Pic related is fansproject, who continue their trend of including little robot weapons/riders in their new lines.

For MP Scale:
>Fanstoys-Larger than MP Grimlock scale. Already have Secoria out.
>gigapower-Larger than MP Grimlock scale/Current MP scales Pic related.
>Bullfire-Masterpiece Grimlock scale

Voyager scale
>Planet X-FOC styled Dinobots. They already have their swoop out.
>Fansproject-mecha style
>Mechaform- updated G1 with articulation

Teasers Only
-Igear
-Toyworld
-Justitoys Hybrid style scale

That's actually 9. I think I'm even missing a few. You could technically count TFC's Starcats Dino combiner for being super similar to Dinobots. So that's 10.

>>4280776
Anywhere that sells third party. Preorders should have went up for FP's stuff I think.
>>
I bought an unwanted Igear Tfcon Erector/Shafter from ebay for $10. I hope there isn't some weird bootleg I'm unaware of.

Mecha form was the other new dinobot set that game out of the blue. Though they seem to be going for the look of what an articulated G1 toy, they also look a tad shit.

>>4280892

I don't think they've ever been KO'd since it's normally Igear who knocks off other third party companies. Probably someone offloading extras or something since this "MP" Shafter is the new hotness this year.

If it isn't the Virus repaint I don't know. When Function X was revealed there was a skullcruncher and Mirvana render so maybe one of those two.

Fansprojects look best to me but that price tag is a bit steep.

$100 for a voyager seems to more or less the norm these days. He comes with a little targetmaster too so thats cool

Yeah, it looks great, decent size, nicely detailed, just don't know if I can swing that much for figures who really wont fit in with anything besides like THS Convoy.

So what are all the major third party developments coming down the pipe?

All dem dinobots
Maketoys Citybot series
Maketoys Quantron/Computron
FP Function X series Headmasters
TFC finishing Ares and starting Defensor
MMC finishing Feral Rex and starting fembot series

Anything else?

Justitoys never teased HS scaled Dinobots, they teased MP ones which they're releasing using the GP name. iGear's won't happen. MF won't happen or maybe just the first one. The correct list is more like:

Meant for MP:
>FansToys
>Giga Power

Meant for Classics
>Bullsfire (I know it's supposed to fit with MP Grimlock but MP Grimlock doesn't fit with the current MP line but does with Classics)
>FansProject
>Toyworld (teaser only)

Meant for FOC
>Planet X

6 to choose from (maybe 5 if TW drops them) but "only" two choices for MP, three for Classics and one for FOC. It's not really worse than the Predaking war when you put things into perspective.

Eh, Chrome isn't bad when done tastefully like this. Plus I like the little Micro man vs the Target master. Only down side I see to the chrome is for completionist who'll want all five dinos. One chromed figure won't mesh with the rest.

I'm actually just now starting to become interested in buying third party formers, does anyone have a comprehensible list of all the ones out there and maybe some recommendations for which are the best?

I saw this one, I can't remember which dood it was, but he was black with neon orange and dark purple detailings - that looked uber sick but I just didn't have the stomach to look at toys I couldn't afford at the time... Anyone know which one that was? I remember him having a hugeass sword if that helps.

Have some random concept art I found.

>>
From MMC. I think I like their fembot mold better as Elita. Also Nova Prime is just chilling back there with his iron man armor trailer.

>>4281908

There isn't a big list o' third party. Best you can do is browse the catalogs of sites that sell them just to see which ones you like and what you don't like. "The best" will ultimately be what you prefer aside from the obvious build quality and Q/C issues. The biggest players are Fansproject, Maketoys, TFC, MMC, Fanstoys, Toyworld, and Perfect Effect. There are many, many more.

Pretty sure what you saw was Maketoys Chaos Paladin, which is meant to be a Power Core Combiner Fallen.
>>
>>4281871
I like when I brought up the fact that TFCon is better than Botcon, Walky and Cheets jumped all over me.

>>
>>4282035
I've never been to both so I really have no input on them.
Botcon has been tainted for me from reports of Pete being a dick and most of the panels will be at SDCC and have more new stuff.

TFCon is more laid back, fan focused and not some money hungry machine like Botcons been made into.

Just my view on them.
>>
>>4282036

Larger pic.
>>
>>4282039
>Botcon has been tainted for me from reports of Pete being a dick
Pete's never been a dick that I heard? It's usually all Brian.

>most of the panels will be at SDCC and have more new stuff.
Yeah, that really does suck. I understand it and all, SDCC is WAY bigger and had more people.

But, you know, kinda helps just make Botcon even more pointless if we have to wait for a non-TF convention to get all our good news.

>TFCon is more laid back, fan focused and not some money hungry machine like Botcons been made into.
Ditto. It feels more like a "convention" like the old Botcons.
>>
>>4282047
>Brian
That's it. I dunno why I got them confused, prolly cause I've never met them.
>>
>>4282053
Brian Savage is honestly less a dick outside of Botcon than he is in it.

Mind you, that's because he no longer really interacts with people there. he just goes to make some announcements, and then leaves. Far better than his terrible business practices in regards to the website and all.

Not-Chromedome's a fun figure, actually. Transformation's snazzy, and the arms aren't horrible, though they're obviously limited.

>>
>>4282971

>>
This 3rd party thing has exploded hasn't it? I didn't realise they had the capacity to put out so many figures.
>>
>>4283175
Last year or two has been pretty crazy.

When did all of this start? City Commader, right?
And then things took off with Hercules.
>>
>>4283155
>I did think Energon Scorp was pretty cool as a kid

mandatory "fuck I'm getting old" post

>>4283175
It's a bunch of different companies doing this, though the quantity is pretty astounding even factoring that in. 3rd party used to be an addendum to Hasbro/Takara stuff, now it's just about a replacement. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Classics style 84/85 Autobots that Classics already covered, like Prowl or Trailbreaker, in the next year or so. A lot of people were disappointed with the classics versions of those, and while MPs exist/are inevitable, a lot of people's focus remains the Classics style line.

Anyways,a major reason for this expansion is that most 3rd parties are Chinese, and they fucking love transformers. The G1 toon was one of the first major western cartoons to air over there, and it caused a pokemon-level sensation.
>>
>>4283180
There's been 3rd parties here-and there since the mid-90's, but most of those were garage kits only for sale in Japan, or accessories for existing figures. But yeah, Fansproject was the first major mass producer, though it was the classics cliffjumper upgrade set that was their first release.
>>
>>4283185
There was that Cliffjumper upgrade, but I cited City Commander because that was the one that turned everyone's heads.
It was the must have item of 2010(?) and a large part of the reason the UM and Skywarp set is too dang expensive.
>>
>>4283171

Action Robo for FP and MT. Also MMC's own store Planet Steel Express. Both reliable.

>>4283180
Before that there were some garage kits and some licenced stuff in Japan. Then a few accessory pieces like the Vector Sigma Key and the Golden Disks, the unicron.com stands, that sort of thing. Fansproject really kicked it off with City Commander though that wasn't their first product. Colossus sent things into high gear as a combiner upgrade and full fledged replacement figures. Defender is pretty much garbage compared to what they're putting out today but that was the first standalone that got people thinking. A full combiner set with TFC's Hercules got the combiner trend going. Now we have companies popping up all over the place. Some doing radically different things to carve out their own niche, and some stepping all over each other's toes.

I don't think there is any other toy series with such a huge unofficial third party backing.

Apeface is doing some intense origami to make it beefy enough for an ape mode. Those arms and legs fill out the body instead of clogging it up with kibble in both the jet and robot modes. And that fucking head swap is brilliant.

I haven't been too interested in the Function-X line due to their price and kinda lackluster articulation.

The line does seem to be taking heed to criticisms as most of these look like they have better shoulder movement. Apeface looks awesome and I can forgive if he doesn't have the best range since he looks like a fun triple changer. Can't wait for their eventual Snapdragon
>>
>>4283311

Honestly, having every one of these in hand, all of the articulation issues are easily forgive, because they're so frickin fun to transform. It's a fantastic line.

Kinda wish he had less detail, like, maybe more like the 3d model but not EXACTLY the same
And maybe there's a bit too much grey on his torso

With that said though I'm still seriously thinking about getting him, he'd be the most expensive toy I own, but the stylization wins me over pretty hardcore

Have Make Toys said anything about his head transforming into a dude? you'd think we'd have seen that by now, for the price this'll probably go for, it better transform into a dude...

They have some colored renders and so far, so good. The colors are very basic shades so they're a bit unimpressive but we know from looking at the final shots of the retail release of Sludge that the actual colors will be much nicer. The important part is that the molds themselves look good. There's also the Slag prototype >>4282371 posted and it looks great. I just preordered Sludge today so it looks like I've resigned myself to getting them all. At least, all of the core Dinobots.
