its not really important but i always run at least 1 or 2 in each deck just to make sure i can get a card if i really need it

Not a fan. I run basic land tutors and I have love affair with niche tutors like Time of Need or Supply // Demand.

Otherwise, games feel too samey. Then again, same is true if you draw half your deck every game so it is pretty arbitrary.

Add 1 more card it says you are at 99
Make sure you have 8-10 ramp effects that cost 3 or less. A cursory look by me counted 3 (Cultivate, Kodama's, and Ring) though I might have missed a dork or something. Here are some suggestions. I would say suggestions that won't break the bank but you've got a 400+ build with swords, you can afford the good stuff.

Selesnya Signet
Coldsteel Heart
Thought Prism
Mind Stone
Marble Diamond
Moss Diamond
Mana Vault $
Grim Monolith $$$
Mana Crypt $$$

Don't Run lands that ETB tapped if you can avoid it. Ditch the gain 1 lands for your Painland and City of Brass, at the very least.

Maybe save a little room for that Ixalan artifact that becomes a Maze of Ith, Maze is really good with Mirri as you've already gotten.

You could probably do to take a couple more wipes. You don't want the board to be TOO insane, because then you're flat if Mirri's protection bites it.

Consider ways to get Mirri tapped without her dying horribly to blockers. Maze of Ith untaps her, so you'll be unprotected. Throw a Paradise Mantle into the ramp package, maybe a little Convoke (Sprout Swarm is nice). oh, and ROGUE'S PASSAGE. I know it only taps for colorless but getting an unblockable enabler on the least futzed with permanent type is really good for her.

"Skip Validation" is your friend.

For cuts...

Are you really going wide enough for Voice of Resurgence? I don't see much of a token package otherwise (though the more I look, the more I think it's just subtle)

Are you hitting the "Gain life" button enough to justify Archangel of Thune?

Cast Out is fairly shitty removal. Generally, I'd want the O-ring or just to wrath, and your deck is poised to handle creature threats pretty well with mirri and maze

Glare of Subdual is kind of funky because you generally want to swing away. You can't tap a creature to stop it once it's actually been declared an attacker.

Only one of your lands doesn't produce mana (Maze of Ith). You could probably chuck two basics for two ramp cards but that would be the last move for fine tinkering. I swear by 35 mana-producing lands to at least 10 good ramp.

FlipGideon's backside is not very good for you. His +2 ability has bad dissynergy with your pillow fort effects since your opponent can decline to pay. Meanwhile his +1 is kinda nice interference running, but there are better options. Becoming an invincible 4/4 is also a kinda lame payoff. So you could cut Kytheon.
>>
>>55400646
If she gets big enough, can we invade HER?
>>
>>55400579
id probably drop a land or 2 because you are in green and will be able to reliably get your basics. id consider getting rid of sphere of safety as you dont have many enchantments and it will only keep your safe in the very early game since this is commander and having a billion mana is common. for ramp i would add rampant growth, command sphere (mostly for the card draw aspect later), explosive vegetation, or some similar stuff. as for a board wipe there are many to choose from but my personal fave that you dont have is fumigate because its cheap and the life gain is very welcomed the later the game goes. also this is just me but i would take out the flip gideon, was never a fan of that card. id also put in a heroic intervention if you can find the room

i know that's more than just ramp but now that i look at your list a little more id change more things

when this card gets triggered does it tap all the other lands for mana or does it tap them without producing mana?
>>
>>55400712
>>55400717
Thank you both for the suggestions and time to type up your responses. I'll take a crack at some edits to the deck shortly. Are they're any big/important cards for my strategy I may have overlooked?
>>
>>55400770
It would tap them without producing mana when the ability resolves, but the affected player can just tap their other lands before the ability resolves and get the mana anyway.

If you were hoping it could somehow make an opponent only ever get to produce one mana, you'd have to be playing against a complete moron.
>>
>>55400770
When it gets triggered your opponent can choose to tap them all for mana as they'll have priority before it resolves. When it resolves they'll all tap for no mana.
>>
>>55400770
If the ability resolves, no mana will be produced, but the player can tap the lands to be hit for mana first
>>
>>55400779
hey sorry i forgot one more card id add if you can find the room. put in rishkars expertise, its a REALLY good card in pretty much any green deck. can draw you like 3 cards then drop a sword or hammer of nazhan or whatever

Alright, this didn't get any traction last thread, but it is worth trying again. Any of y'all wanna give me some feedback on my Chandra.dec? It is garbage for obvious reasons (being a burn deck with no combos in EDH, being a red deck that isn't secretly monobrown, etc.) but I am curious to see if y'all have any good cards on theme that I missed? I've won games with it in my meta, so power level isn't too big of a concern.

I'd really appreciate y'all having a look. I got myself an Ugin for the deck to help clear Enchantments and for the one or two planeswalkers matters cards so I need to slot that in.

>specifically just in general what people thought of filterlands either cycle

An absolute lifesaver in some situations. I have a Naya deck that I have all three Lorwyn filters in and they've saved my ass and been the only source of either red, green, or white mana on occasion and I've got a super good mana base with revised duals in it.
>>
>>55401983
Not really, no.
>>
>>55401983
It's good in Modern because you're running 4-8 fetches in a 60 card deck to turn on Revolt and there are very few decks that curve above 4. If that's your meta then it's good, if not there are better.
>>
>>55401983
Eeh? As spot removal goes it's not terrible, but it would seldom if ever be my first call. I think Tragic Slip is better in EDH. Slip hits real fat when it's 'on' and denies regeneration and indestructible

Those are only preferable in 3+ colored decks where you have serious color fixing issues.
Otherwise the inability to tap on it's own is worse than entering tapped in a good deal of cases.
>>
>>55402200
then why are signet considered good?
>>
>>55402098
Depends on what kind of Eldrazi you're playing. The DnT variant sometimes uses it.
>>
>>55402211
Because they're ramp.
>>
>>55402211
because its 2 mana for a net of 1 that doesnt enter tapped
and because filtering mana is much better than what that guy thinks
even my GW selvala deck has a hard time getting the right colors
i can need gg and ww on turn three so that can be tough
>>
>>55402211
Because Signets are +1 mana every turn after the turn you play it, and they don't take up a land drop.

Not very. I understand that there are people out there that run like 10 tutors in every deck, but I just can't be bothered. I'm not one of those people that put Demonic + Vampiric + Grim + Rune-Scarred + etc in every deck.

>How many tutors do you usually run (in a given color combination), and which ones are they in each color?
Depends on the deck's colors. I'll usually run 3 (Enlightened, Idyllic, Plea for Guidance) in GWx because I love enchantments and I love to get out my typical Privileged Position + Sterling Grove / Greater Auramancy combo, as well as other self-protection enchantments like Wheel of Sun and Moon.
In decks with B I only usually put in Diabolic Revelation and Increasing Ambition. To me, for a card to be worth including in my EDH decks, it has to have either massive value or re-usability.

It would be better if it were a smaller island since then it could be a coral atoll or a dormant volcano that has been weather down.

As for the spoiler. There is a lot that goes into what make a locality the way it is. So much that i couldn't fit it in a 4chan thread. The main thing is think plate tectonics for landscape and lattitude for climate. If you really want to get into you should look into global circulation patterns and the Koppen Climate Classification. And like >>55402494 is trying to illustrate it is more about fun and being cool than being accurate. A good cheat for land shapes it to look up the earth in different eras. The way the continents were arranged when dinosaurs roamed the earth is very different than it is now. Or to go into photoshop/illustrator and grab two existing land masses [like africa and alaska], make them the about the same size. super impose one over the other and then rotate them both in different directions until you can't really tell that it is 2 real world places together. You can also just dump macaroni on some paper and trace it.

Lorwyn filters are auto-include in 2c and great in 3c. Odyssey filters are good enough in 2c but too awkward in 3c.
Only downside compared to other duals is when you have a lot of 1cmc stuff e.g. Swords to Plowshares effectively costs 2 when you only have a Forest + Wooded Bastion.
I'd rate them somewhere below pain lands and check lands, on par with battle lands, above reveal lands and tainted lands and above any ETBT lands.

Depends on the commander. Angry Omnath wins by massed 5/5s that can't be safely killed. Gitrog {laughs in dredge} and probably establishes a stax lock. Titania usually goes for the Food Chain combo to make infinite 5/3s and probably strip mine everyone else to have no lands if she doesn't have the concordant crossroads to kill at once.

they have advantages and disadvantages, personally i like sungrass prairie (and the rest of the cycle) a little more in 3-4 color decks because the lorwyn filters only fix your mana if you already fixed at least one of the colors

for instance if you're in naya a hand that has mountain-wooded-bastion-sakura tribe elder as its only mana could get color screwed and miss sakura-elder on turn 2, whereas mountain-sungrass prairie-sakura tribe elder is excellent

mana fixing is generally more important on the first few turns than later in the game because when you have more total lands later, its easier to meet color requirements. the fact that the odyssey filters are better on turn 2 are what i like

also they can turn one color of mana into 2 different colors. wooded bastion can't filter your blue mana or colorless mana, for instance, into G or W, but sungrass prairie can

in 2 color decks, the lorwyn filters are significantly better though, because they allow you to cast double and triple pip spells more easily

for instance you could cast necropotence on turn 3 and cryptic command turn 4 using sunken ruins and 3 basic lands

>for instance if you're in naya a hand that has mountain-wooded-bastion-sakura tribe elder as its only mana could get color screwed and miss sakura-elder on turn 2, whereas mountain-sungrass prairie-sakura tribe elder is excellent
Counterpoint: Mountain + Wooded Bastion lets you cast e.g. Cathartic Reunion turn 2 while Mountain + Sungrass Prairie won't. Another example to specifically cast ramp, Forest + Mystic Gate lets you cast Sakura-Tribe Elder turn 2 but Forest + Skycloud Expanse won't.

Both types of lands have their pros and cons, but Lorwyn filters only get stronger the better the rest of your manabase gets. Your example with the Lorwyn filter ceases to be a problem when all your Mountains get replaced by Karplusan Forest, Brushland, Stomping Ground, Temple Garden, Taiga, Savannah and all relevant fetches. My example with the Odyssey filters always remains a problem, no matter how good your other land is.
>>
>>55404572

>Your example with the Lorwyn filter ceases to be a problem when all your Mountains get replaced by Karplusan Forest, Brushland, Stomping Ground, Temple Garden, Taiga, Savannah and all relevant fetches.

It's not only a case of whether you need the colors of a filter land in any given situation, it's also a case of whether the filter land actively prohibits you from casting spells which an Odyssey filter will do more often than a Lorwyn filter alongside a good manabase.
The filter lands aren't made redundant by better lands either, all pain+shock+ABUR+fetch lands in 3c only adds up to 18 lands.

>>55404632
That's a situation where Odyssey filters will perform better than Lorwyn filters, but it will be a lot less common than the situations where Odyssey filters hinder you from casting what you want.

I know this isn't new but here goes.

Looking to build a Kaalia deck, only 3 players in my meta. Creature and removal heavy. I figure I should do the opposite of what Uril does (ramp, enchant, swing, not care about what other people are doing) and actually try to control the board (or at least the creatures on it).

I figure a lot of boardwipes, removal, and ramp to get her out quick. I only need a few bombs on the board to close things out fast. She needs to swing though so I think haste is important as hexproof. Kinda like a pseudo hexproof if I cast her at the right time, once she swings I'm fine with her dying.

The 7 Sacred Duties of the /edhg/ OP, (from most to least critical)

1) Use the non-cancer Pasta. OPs that fill their pasta with cancer are faggots of the worst sort
2) Include the title, so a ctrl+f of the catalogue locates the thread
3) Use a Magic: the Gathering card as the thread image. Preferably a Commander-relevant or distinctive one, but new spoils and jank are fairly acceptable too. This is so a quick scan of the catalogue or pages can find the damn thread
4) Link to the previous thread or the archives die
5) Include an "edition" to make archive delving a little easier
6) Include a Thread Question to start some discussion.
7) Provide a forward link in the previous thread to ease migration if able.

A few of the same cards (Palinchron + High Tide; Merchant Scroll; Gilded Lotus) bounce between them, but they all have different strategies. Patron of the Moon is a stax deck that aims to either restrict the opponent's mana and win with command damage or go for an infinite mana loop with one of my land bouncers, Patron, and Amulet of Vigor. Mistform Ultimus is all about stacking buffs from all the different blue tribal effects, and winning through aggro. Higure, the Still Wind focuses on using Ninjutsu effects to reuse ETB effects while taking advantage of the Ninjas to generate some cheap advantage. Soramaro is all about card draw and some of those janky "cards in hand" cards, like Meishin. Cloudhoof Kirin is self-mill with Lab Man and "instant/sorcery in grave" checking cards. Chisei is probably the weakest - it focuses on synergies with Cumulative Upkeep cards, and also some Persist effects. Hakim is all about Heroic, and plays the way Heroic + Auras was "intended" back in Theros block, using Hakim as a way to regain some advantage later in the game.

MLD shouldn't be banned, players who use it recklessly should be banned.
Securing your lead by destroying lands is a fine way to win, not even as bad as stax or stasis.

Today I realized that I only like playing with 2 of my 10 decks, so I've completely disassembled all but those two and am headed to the store to sell off everything of worth from those other decks.

But with that said I now feel like making something new...

Kess seems boring and generic, the grixis cage person seems boring and generic...

Not interested in 5 colors...

Inalla seems like it could be fun but if the only viable option is just ETB wizard spam then that's not fun at all.

The cat dragon thing could be fun... Maybe? Probably not.

Cat tribal blah

I don't know guys, what doooo

Play Inalla as Allies, using Grixis's tutoring options to keep Xenograft alive constantly.
>>

>Not interested in 5 colors...
you really should give it a try
you can do ANYTHING you want
mana base can be as cheap as 2 dollars if you use panoramas and cultivate effects to fetch basics
thats what I do and my deck is pretty good for 75% tables
>>
>>55406442
I usually just do archetypes. I have a voltron, a control, and an aggro 1v1 deck. Kinda just want a "play big creatures and bash people with them" deck now.

Xenograft, Conspiracy and that new one in Ixalan

When Ramos got spoiled I had dreams of making a deck based on cheesing tons of +1's onto Ramos through other means and then using his ability to play big X spells.

It still sounds fun but at the same time it sounds a little unguided. "Big x spells" isn't enough of a deck strat for me right now.
>>
>>55406464
>>55406507
I used to play budget slivers where Queen and Legion where the only expensive cards in the deck.
Mana base wasn't too rough since it was 40% green and I ran ever Cultivate possible.

Here's my autistic list of turn 2 situations where you're stuck with only 2 lands and want to cast something, with Naya colors as an example:
>lands: colorless or R + WG filter land
>want to cast 1G/1W/WG: Odyssey is better
>want to cast 1R: Lorwyn is better
>want to cast GG/WW: they're both bad

>lands: RG or WR or WRG + WG filter land
>want to cast 1G/1W/WG: they're both good
>want to cast 1R: Lorwyn is better
>want to cast GG/WW: Lorwyn is better

>lands: WG or W or G + WG filter land
>want to cast 1G/1W/WG: they're both good
>want to cast 1R: they're both bad
>want to cast GG/WW: Lorwyn is better

>lands: anything + WG filter land
>want to cast RR/RG/WR: they're both bad

>3 lands and onwards
>you started with colorless or R + WG filter land and you keep drawing colorless or R: Odyssey is better
>you started with anything else and/or you draw anything else: either they're both the same or Lorwyn is better, especially if you want to cast XWW/XWWW/XGG/XWWW etc. or you want to cast multiple spells such as XWW + W

It's not hard math but I don't think the one situation where Odyssey filters are better outweighs the many situations where Lorwyn filters are better. Wanting to cast something with 1G/1W/WG is more common than casting the other combinations, but having a land that produces colorless or R should be a rare situation in a well built 3c deck.
A case could be made that Odyssey filters could be better for decks that specifically have a lot of colorless utility lands and a lot of colored 2 drops, but I'm curious to know what kind of deck that would be. If your manabase consists mostly of other dual/triple lands, Lorwyn filters are better by far.

>>
>>55406905

I'm at a loss too because >>55404954 specifically says "If <cardname> attacks and is not blocked". I can't see anything on there about him not attacking.
>>
>>55406905

If something says it triggers "whenever this creature attacks", then if you put it onto the battlefield tapped and attacking, it's too late for that to trigger

But if something triggers "when this creature attacks AND ISNT BLOCKED", that ability triggers during the declare blockers step and, somewhat misleadingly, doesn't care if the creature actually was declared as an attacker during the declare attacks step
>>
>>55406905
They're assuming because it says "whenever it attacks and isn't blocked", but it didn't technically attack. The thing is that the condition doesn't actually care whether or not it "attacked", but there isn't a more succinct way to write out "whenever ~ is attacking and your opponent doesn't declare a blocker for ~ during the declare blockers phase".
>>
>>55406956

If you put utvara hellkite into play tapped and attacking with kaalia, it won't trigger the ability to make another dragon. If you put a frenzied goblin into play with Alesha, it won't trigger his ability to prevent a blocker.

But you CAN trigger abilities that trigger on "attacked and isn't blocked", due to the timing

None of the usual cancer is really available in those colors, so I should be safe from hate, right? I just like the idea of triggering Oaths.

Charm Tribal with Ramos. Get shit like Cloven Casting, Vorel of the Hull Clade, Corpsejack Menace and Winding Constrictor.

>Cast Abzan or Jund Charm and pay the extra mana to activate Cloven Casting
>Get 20 +1/+1 counters for Ramos if Corpsejack and Constrictor are both out from four mana
>Activate Vorel
>Get 20 more for just two more mana

Also you can do shit like get just five counters, dump them, use some of them to blink Ramos, cast a few spells once he comes back, dump the counters for more mana, blink him again... repeat.

Is Wildest Dreams good graveyard recursion?
>>
>>55407759
Regrowth, Seasons Past, and Praetor's Counsel are better at the equivalent cost of Wildest Dreams. Dreams is only better in that it's taking up a single slot, so if you need to cut cards but want recursion then you pick Dreams.
