No issue there, just a note Saurus warriors are really bad outside a horde of 30. Run the 12 you get in the SC box as saurus guard. Give one of the knights the little pick weapon and use him as a scar vet on cold one and depending on what you build, the carnosaur you can jury rig the skink rider as a skink priest, or troglodon gets you an old blood on foot.

Buy a 2nd one and you'll have enough knights for 2 squads, 24 warriors or guard, an old blood on foot, a scar vet on cold one, a carnosaur, a troglodon and a skink priest.

Then pick up a slann and start buying whatever looks cool.

The issue with 40-man units is that everyone isn't going to be able to attack, so you're basically sacrificing mobility. But with Foulrain it might be interesting. I'm interested in seeing Epidemius with my skaven, along with nurglings to act as a tarpit while my smaller but buffed units of plague monks lay the hurt. I'm planning on having one unit of 20 with a corruptor and one unit of 20 with a furnace.

Yeah but you didn't use it on your list that's why I asked. Also you need swordmasters to gain the swifthawk keyword for mage - without them you are not fulfilling the battalion requirements.

So the first round I did Beastlord v WK. Surprising, the Beastlord won; I think by sheer volume of his 6 attacks. WK did a good first blow of 4 damage but then completely whiffed his second combat. Second one was Beastlord v Admiral, Admiral won easily. Got a round of shooting in but missed everything, and Beastlord did take half his health off in the first round, but the Admirals -2 Rend 2 dmg hammer just hits way too hard. Took the Beastlord down to 1 health instantly and then shot him in the face on his turn, never even got to a second Skalfhammer swing. Guess I gotta hurry up and finish painting my Ironclad now.

I can't see much replacing the Pestilent clawpack, i'll do it with 40, 30, and 20 for objective camping probably, or two 30's. Cong is shitty unless it's dropped in pts dramatically, a 6+ isn't worth crap remember.

If the enemy has any shooting you can afford to lose 10 or so. If they have no shooting they can just grind away at a hoard they won't bring down easily

I haven't played AoS yet but I own a massive MASSIVE army of Skaven, but very few plague monks and no storm vermin. So basically is it feasible to still run swarms of hundreds of clanrats? Or am I fucked for not having elite troops? I do have lots of rat ogres, heavy weapon teams and vehicles and just about every kind of HQ in spades

Well....damn it actually works out back to 1000 perfectly. But are 10 squigs worth fielding at that point? 15 seemed alright so they wouldn't disapperate after a single volley of gunfire but, I dunno. I am still working off my skirmish list and was planning on building it to that list above.

Rat ogres are awesome with powerful melee and oddly dcent shooting. Take Moulder and they become a core choice, then add in Verminus Clanrat allies and anything else you want. You don't have to play Pestilens

I am currently just working off a Skirmish list. Got my trolls, grot squad, warboss and shaman ready though. Just need more squigs and another grot box

I was thinking, purely theorycraft, camp with one and send the rest of the army marching forward. Shaman, Warboss and Lobber start throwing junk at the enemy. Night Goblin regiment flanked by squig and trolls on either side.

March them to no-mans zone, claim the middle objective and shove my fanatics into the thick of the fighting.

Right, so i get we can ally to shore up weaknesses like magic and guns, but since the GHB2 didn't provide a 40k style "can't shoot the hero's behind units" rule Packmasters are going to be as fragile as ever. Moulder is still not going to work well, certainly not on it's own.

Also here is a little trick if you're a gambling man, which, let's be honest, if you play grots, you are. I'm da boss now stab em good on the warboss himself. Now whenever your squig makes a 6+ to wound, he deals D3 x 2 damage right? WRONG! Down in one turns that D3 into a D6. So that attack is now D6 x 2 damage. And that's just one squig attack. Remember though that this is a bit of a gamble as the boss only has 8 attacks. It is a much safer investment to put idbnseg on the grots or the squigs, but if your boss looks like he is gonna be caught by, say, an assassin type character, it is a good way to say fuck you to that assassin.

That's actually one thing I've heard from local fantasy/ kings of war and age of skid mark players. All the starter boxes are chaos critters/ mooks versus holy fantasy marines, where only a scarce few actually LIKE the obnoxious aesthetics of those factions.

On the regular I hear that people who want to start age of skid mark want to split the costs of starter boxes as they don't want sigmarines.

I'd wager its because it limits the variety of people who can get interested in AoS to "do you like these spiky buff dudes and demons, or do you like these shiny buff dudes and dragons?"

Instead of having multiple different starter sets with actually differing armies people could get interested in, they just seem to repackage the first starter sets easy-to-build sprues or slap in the basic multi-part sprues in a different coloured cardboard box. Anyone else worried of the new battalion price hike? Each battalion I've seen got a huge rise in price. Some of them just feel very out of place, ie. Household went from 20 to 70ptals. It's almost like they want ppl to bring models instead of battalions now..

I actually really like AoS and I do play. We give our local stormcast players shit all the time in real life because it's almost as fun as the game itself.
