What's the best option? Personally was leaning towards whirlwinds since I can leave them out of sight while the rest of my armour is doing the heavy lifting

DG players, what will you be using the little nurglings that come with Mortarion for (if you decide to pick him up)?
I was thinking of repurposing them into combat familiars and such, like I've seen some Tzeentch players do with the brimstones that come with the Lord of Change. Maybe build a mini palanquin for whichever nurgling I like the look of better.

My gf wanted space wolves and then went nuts when she saw daemons of Khorne. So she has been proxying her SW as chaos marines and thunder wolf captain("chaos lord on juggernaut") and using her bloodletters. She really really likes painting and is very excitable during games once she got the swing of it. Even suggests we watch batreps while we paint.

yes you have to use the newest version...but if you have a model with options that are not available in the newest version, you can use the index version which has the correct options. You have to use it exactl though...so if the newest version has a special rule that the old one didnt have, you dont get it. Also lets say the index versions base price was 75 points before weapons and then the codex drops the base price to 65, you will have to take it out of the index for 75 points in order to have access to the options that you have currently outfitted on your model

The only time I think that actually did happen was Istvaan V, where the Iron Warriors nuked the Salamanders, wiping out over half of them and atomising Vulkan who took ages to respawn. So it's proven that nukes instagib Primarchs, which makes me wonder how none of them got obliterated by one or something DaOT that's worse during the Great Crusade. I haven't played 40k before, but I'm getting into it with Black Templars and a couple other units. I've watched some games on Youtube and in person, but I still only have a tenuous grasp on the game and its concepts. I was hoping you could advise me on what direction to built in - I really hate to buy stuff that's cool, only to realize I won't even use it.

Here's what I own so far:

20 Tac marines
5 scouts
High Marshal Helbrecht
The Emperor's Champion
1 Venerable Dreadnought
1 Land Raider Crusader

Celestine and her Geminae Superia
Inquisitor Greyfax
Culexus Assassin

and the Primaris guys out of the KNOW NO FEAR starter set (Captain, 5 Intercessor, 3 Inceptor, 5 Hellblaster)

I don't plan on using all these pieces, but this is what I have available so far. I definitely want another Tac Marine box or two, and I'm thinking about getting a couple Razorbacks. I'm also looking at getting Grimaldus and/or a regular Chaplain with a jump pack, maybe a drop pod (with marines), and definitely some Terminators with some sweet ass storm shields.

Crusader squads seem the obvious way to go, with chainswords on most of my guys, and a plasma gun and maybe a melta? The Crusader can hold 16 - so a crusader squad of 14, Helbrecht, and the Emperor's Champion? I'll at least throw the multi-melta on the Crusader, and probably the storm bolter and hunter-killer missile as well. I love the melee flair the Templars have, especially with Grimaldus' Unmatched Zeal. I'm not sure what other directions to take this, though.

You know, I'd be slightly for Chaos over the Smurfs if it was in a vacuum, but you invaded a Forge System. That makes it an honour thing, so my tin men are getting involved. Then again, my list is pretty scrappy since I'm mostly running on a collection of "one or two of fucking everything" and no Cawl, so I tend to lose more than I win against all the Leviathans and Sicarans and such the Chaos players have around here. Still, I fought and we wound up winning anyway, so I can't complain.

No, really. So many of the strategies that xenos that would be retarded IRL are very well explained in what makes them viable, for example Orks having force fields protecting them from artillery/airstrikes and insane biologies that allow them to tank some small arms fire.

Nids have their numbers and miasma hindering sensors and aircraft.

Eldar have portals, Daemons are well... Daemons and Tau are actually practical.

But all of this gets blown out of the water when nukes are involved.

Actual explanation - nukes would make it the game less interesting, since you want to see more infantry-and-vehicle level fighting. Same reason why you don't just see tank regiments fighting most of the time.

Fluff explanation - perhaps the technology for nukes is partially lost, and not all forge worlds have it, or perhaps the imperium doesn't always have the means to deploy nukes.

You're not getting a lot of sympathy from players who had to put up with their armies being middling to low-tier for so long because GW has an Imp vs Chaos obsession for the last 6 years, especially in regards to fluff. Suddenly making all of the previous Black Crusades be 'Just as Planned!!' successes instead of failures that forced Abaddon to try again (and again. and again. and again...) to get past Cadia has left a ton of people ticked off too.

Oh, and did I forget to mention the arrogance/entitlement some Chaosfags have? They're as bad as Imperial whiners, if not worse.

Let's make something clear: Most Xenos aren't "supporting the Imperium unironically for FoK", they're "actively fucking over Chaos (possibly out of spite toward GW/arrogant Chaosfags)." The two are very different things.

I think I'm somewhat passable myself and I got my previous boyfriend into the hobby years ago. It was fun for a while, but it caused some problems. Basically if I played anyone else, he got jealous of us having a good time together, and when we played each other, whoever lost ended up a little salty. The same thing happened with him and another boyfriend when it came to video games. Every boy I met, they got jealous, competitive games just made us salty against each other and if I ever wanted to play alone, they got upset.

With my current lover, the fact that she's not into 40k makes her feel a little left out, and I know she worries when I go off to the store that boys will hit on me. While I don't have any interest, some have shown interest in me, so I can understand why she's a little nervous. Personally I prefer it this way, that way we have our things together and this is my thing. Too much overlap in hobbies and interests has only caused me problems in relationships. Having a couple of things that we do separately has been a much comfier experience.
