How bad are solarians REALLY? Like, levels 1-6, how does a solarian do if the other option's a melee soldier with Blitz? Aren't all solarians supposed to ignore Solar Armor and go for heavy armor?

No. The /pgg/ server is open to all. Cabals are not.
>>
>>54794676
There's two main servers, one run by InspectorCM which is open to the public, and the Cabal is run by Broodie and is primarily a hub for NSFW content and people who want to feel superior to the people who aren't invited to their secret club.

What this ends up doing, however, is making an environment where things worthy of being "leaked" happen in the Cabal, which then makes people pissed when they're publicly called out on it by their fellow users. They then say things like "hey why don't you tell us who you are so we can ban you" which is honestly one of the dumbest things you can say with the expectation that it will actually work.

Volley Gun

Firearm Exotic, 1d10 (per barrel) x4 40feet Full round per barrel

This nine barreled musket is designed for ship to ship firing by marines. Specifically firing all nine barrels down from a crow's nest onto enemy officers.

The Volley Gun can be fired two ways. At a single target, where every single loaded barrel adds an addition d10 to the damage roll, with a cumulative -2 per barrel fired.

Or as a scatter weapon, dealing 1/2 the Barrels loaded in d10s (round down). This can only be done with at least half the barrels loaded.

Starfinder core rulebook, page 168:
>Weapons that use standard ammunition (arrows, charges, darts, mini-rockets, petrol, rounds, scattergun shells, etc.) are sold preloaded.

Would this not mean that a character could purchase a 100-credit scattergun to gain a 330-credit high-capacity battery?

Starfinder core rulebook, page 216:
>Items with a specified usage use a battery that comes fully charged when purchased.

Is the battery a maximum capacity possible for the item, or a regular battery?

If the former is the case, then would that not mean that a character could purchase a 7-credit personal comm unit, which comes with a 390-credit super-capacity battery that can be sold for 39 credits? Is this not an infinite loop?

If the latter is the case, then you could purchase 1-credit flashlights/lanterns that come with 60-credit batteries, and then sell off the batteries for 6 credits each. This is an uncontestable, infinite loop.

There is now a method of gaining unlimited credits right from character creation.

same with the personal comm unit, and the sell price for the battery is lowered because of this

If technological items come with regular batteries, then this paves the way for an infinite loop: purchasing 1-credit flashlights/lanterns that come with 60-credit batteries.

You can then sell the batteries for 6 credits each.

not really, the 60-credit battery is an all purpose battery

the 1-credit flashlights have flashlight batteries which would be worth less than 1 credit

a) all equipment use the regular batteries from the ammunition table

b) these batteries can be removed and sold, and these merchants are selling at a lost

>>
>>54795509
>>54795516

Now, there is one thing I see stopping this infinite loop: flashlights/lanterns have a capacity of 10.

Does that mean that they come with a regular, 20-charge battery with some sort of "only 10 charges can be stored in this while in the flashlight/lantern" limitation?

Does that mean they come with a "special edition" 10-charge battery that cannot be sold due to no price being listed for them? If so, then does that mean that the other technological items come with batteries of the maximum capacity, such as a 390-credit, 80-charge battery for a 7-credit personal comm unit? Or, to put it in another way, if a 10-capacity flashlight comes with a 10-charge battery, does an 80-capacity personal comm unit come with an 80-charge battery?

The thing that the person claiming to be Foxtits is not mentioning is that there are not one but three people with equally bullshit powers in the party. One can impose a -6 penalty to any mental stat (like wisdom) for at least one round and up to ten and follow that up with hideous curses and mental destruction attacks that their newly devastated will saving throw is useless to defend against; another is an initiator (which means instant death to anything not heavily buffed all over the place) who is literally one swing-kills-five-people-incidentally, and yet another can drop meteor swarms of crystal damage and 100' long walls of bludgeoning damage that the enemy takes damage from every time they pass through it.

There isn't a build in that game that can't overwhelm people, and most of them are not neutral or evil.
>>
>>54795518
Actually, in PF, you don't have two poles, you have one ladder with the broken condition.
>>
What pathfinder races would people most like to see converted to Starfinder?
>>
>>54795408
What's DHB stand for?
>>
>>54795573

This is untrue. As per page 218, batteries are batteries and are interchangeable between weapons and other technological equipment:

>Items specified with a usage use a battery that comes fully charged when purchased. Such batteries can be recharged as normal using generators or recharging stations (see Professional Services on page 234), or they can be replaced (see Table 7-9: Ammunition for battery prices).

So then, suppose you purchase a 1-credit, 10-capacity flashlight or lantern. What kind of battery does it come with?

Say you then purchase a 7-credit, 80-capacity personal comm unit. What kind of battery does the comm unit come with?

>>54795764

Page 218 directly references that very table.

>Items specified with a usage use a battery that comes fully charged when purchased. Such batteries can be recharged as normal using generators or recharging stations (see Professional Services on page 234), or they can be replaced (see Table 7-9: Ammunition for battery prices).
>>
>>54795742
They can be replaced, they are not explicitly interchangeable.
I think it's quite the reasonable assumption to make that stock batteries which come with items do not hold the same retail value as those purchased as replacements.
For example, most TV remotes nowadays come with some off brand piece of crap korean battery, and you buy duracells or energizer to replace them when they die.

>>
>>54795555

>>
>>54795625
>What kind of battery does the comm unit come with?
A Nokia BL-4B.
>>
>>54795781
No no. They ARE explicitly interchangeable.
The reference page 218 makes is to weapon ammunition batteries. All batteries can be used, but have set individual capacities and charge levels.

A weapon's Capacity indicates the LARGEST type of battery that it can hold: a weapon could, for example, have a 70 charge listed capacity: This would be a dickass move as it would at best be able to use a high-capacity battery, not the super-capacity.

So, actually, the problem with getting a flashlight is that the smallest batteries available for sale are 20 charges. A 10 charge flashlight therefore comes with a non-existent 10 charge battery and therefore does not work.

Let me write down the text for other anons to chime in. It seems like the distinction between a first and a second dose is that the second can simply reverse the first.

>Upon drinking this elixir, your biology instantly transforms to take on a set of sexual characteristics of your choice, changing both your appearance and physiology accordingly. You have some mild control over the details of this change, but you retain a strong "family resemblance" to your former appearance.
>The elixir's magic functions instantaneously and cannot be dispelled. Your new anatomy is as healthy and functional as your previous body's, potentially allowing you to conceive, carry, or bear children (depending on your species' biology).
>Drinking a second elixir of sex shift either reverts you back to a former form or allows you to adopt other sexual characteristics, as you choose. The elixir has no effect if you are unwilling, and the presence of certain sex-specific biological processes, such as gestation, may prevent this serum from taking effect.

You're retarded. If the price listed is for the item itself, there is no 'battery cost' as all items are preloaded or precharged as a courtesy.

>the seller is charging you for the ammo or battery
This is not the case.

>there is no 'battery cost' as all items are preloaded or precharged as a courtesy
This is.

This is why you can purchase a 100-credit pulsecaster rifle to nab yourself a high-capacity battery that would normally cost 330 credits.

Never mind the potential infinite loop involving the free batteries that personal comm units and flashlights/lanterns come with.
>>
>>54796819
The logic here is thus: you buy a cell phone with a battery in it that is fully charged. You take out the battery and sell it to someone else.

That's the logic you are attempting to use here. It doesn't work.
>>
>>54795404
Fuck off, you autistic shit. Nobody asked for your opinion.

>>54796847
And how do you run the pulsecaster without the battery? Or the flashlights and comm units? why would anyone buy batteries from you when their own are already loaded wuith them?

Your logic is still flawed.
>>
>>54796858
>>54796874
The logic is sometimes the battery is more expensive than the item itself. Then you sell that battery to adventurers who want spares I guess.

>And how do you run the pulsecaster without the battery?
You are not after the pulsecaster. You are after the high-capacity battery, which you then remove and insert into the weapon you actually want to use.

>Or the flashlights and comm units?
We do not even know what kind of batteries they come with. Does a flashlight/lantern come with a 20-charge battery it cannot use, or a "special edition" 10-charge battery with an unknown price? Does a personal comm unit come with a 20-charge battery, or an expensive 80-charge battery?

>why would anyone buy batteries from you when their own are already loaded wuith them?
A good question; nobody would ever purchase batteries when they could be directly purchasing equipment instead. The battery economy is a right and proper mess.
>>
>>54796874
I don't know, maybe you should ask Table 7-9 why anyone might want spare batteries.
>>
>>54796874

Batteries break sometimes, anon. Not to mention usually having limited charge-discharge cycles, or that mechanics would buy batteries to make their robots.

If shops are selling batteries separately, that means someone wants them. Which means you can sell yours for cheaper and get money.

Behold a man who has unlocked the source of Ultimate Starship Power. Right now, rules as written, the ultimate pilot seat is a la-z-boy as he takes no actions and lets the gunner make Glide actions.

Since Glide just requires no pilot actions be taken, not that you can't have a pilot giving the passive +Pilot Ranks to defence in the slot you can get 2 people both adding +Pilot to the defences of your spaceship as long as the pilot doesn't DO ANYTHING. It is goofy and I would slap down any player trying it but the true source of ultimate power turns out to be having a sufficiently lazy pilot.
>>
>>54796901
God, I love it when people find ways to break systems that others are looking forward to. I love that you can just mess up anyone's hopes of having fun at the table when you just say 'I buy five pulsecaster rifles. I take the batteries out of each one' five times in a row.
>>
>>54796908
Offensively, meanwhile, what you want to do for a fighter is twin-link those broad-arc lasers and fill up your L/R arcs with them.

Then, you have the ship's computer with 'control' use them with the "any two weapons at -4" action to supplement your forward arc.

This will in no way make up for the shield growth past roughly tier 10 if you insist on sticking to a small or tiny craft, but it WILL make the slowness and longass fights slightly more bearable.
>>
>>54796919
When I was leaving for college, my father went and bought five cheap printers for me. I took the cartridges out of the other four and that was good enough for the next four years.

On the battery thing:

I know the houserule I'm using for this one. The batteries specified on the equipment are internal, rechargeable, and NOT removable from the device without breaking both. These are sold charged.

The standalone batteries on the chart are much like current externals, you just plug the cable in into it and let it charge at X charges/round (possibly proportional to its max cap).

So... say your weapon can hold 70 charges. You empty it and plug into a 100-charge battery. After a few rounds, your weapon is full and the battery is holding 30 charges.

There is logic to it.

Well the book takes it for granted people are not trying to disassemble items into raw parts. Even Pathfinder takes it for granted that if you find something made of gold that is not specifically a trade good, then you cannot turn it into trade good. You cannot make a gold weapon for cheap and melt it into expensive gold trade good.

Same way, 1 credit flashlight does have 3 credits worth of battery resource in it. But the game takes it for granted that you cannot cash in on that 3 credit power, it is not part of the experience to try to game the system that way.

No Anon, you don't get it.
It is not saying all batteries come in 20 charge size and cost 60
The rate is 60 credits for 20 charges
You could have 1 charge battery for 6 credits
Or 200 charge battery for 600 credits

Same way that 9 round pistol does not come with 30 rounds if you buy it preloaded.
>>
>>54800338
Iseph is agender by the backstory of the iconic.

"... they first met other androids and discovered that some identified with particular genders, though Iseph never felt any such personal connection."

Is there a canonical reason why Cheliax hasn't conquered the scattered city-states of Varisia? Not worth the effort?

If a new regional power in Varisia started conquering large swathes of turf would that attract the attentions of the devil nation, maybe just to squash a nascent threat? Or is Cheliax stretched too thin with their own colonial exploits.

>Or is Cheliax stretched too thin with their own colonial exploits.
And this.

People like to be all haughty about how powerful the Infernal Empire appears to be in the setting, but they're actually stagnating really hard at the moment. The Chelish Civil War following the death of Aroden really did a number on them, and the Diabolical forces of Asmodeus seem more interested in extracting soul resources from Cheliax than actually make them progress as a nation.

So, Earth exists in the Golarion setting You visit it several times. Since Starfinder is just in the future Earth should still be around. It is fairly far in the future, so human technology would have got through A LOT of advancement.

I am considering a campaign where an earth armada shows up in the Golarion system after uncovering the truth behind the egyptian gods and old ones. How would the Golarion system deal with a flotilla of earth war ships, all technology, no magic.
>>
>>54801853
>this cooperative storytelling game is best played in a manner that punishes your players for doing fun things!
>>
>>54801879
Since golarion is basically built so that each of its regions supports a different type of fantasy, varisia is basically the closest to the classic band of heroes, vanilla sword and sorcery vibe that a lot of people gravitate towards.
>>
>>54801901

>>
>>54801943
No. According to JJ, it's the same universe, but another galaxy. This is explicitly important as Cthulhu is asleep on Earth, not on Golarion, but he has FTL travel and can reach Golarion from Earth.
>>
>>54801945
It's a bit of a bait and switch. It starts off as anime Starship Troopers, which is probably the part the original poster wants, then turns into a pretty decent ______ .

I don't want to spoil it if that's okay, but there is a cool thing you discover later on that I will steal for my idea that Iomedae is lying to you.
>>
>>54801945
Without spoiling to much. It's earth in the future after an ice age in which the ice has mostly melted, resulting in a water world. The world is inhabited by humans who live on gigantic floating city ships. However there are also humans from space who fight mollusk like aliens called hideauze, which the space humans are taught are their mortal enemy and reason for existing. When one of the humans crashes on the newly rediscovered earth, he finds that the humans of earth live on the planet with creatures called whale squid, which are biologically identical to hideauze. The story basically reveals the origins of humans, hideauze, and whale squid, and really makes you think.

With the progression of Social Talents and Vigilante talents, which are both incredibly powerful in comparison to 90% of the class abilities out there, how can you NOT see it as a dual class progression in every sense of the word?
>>
>>54803501
Oh no, it's retarded.

You realize Vigilante aren't even that good, right? Sure, they're the best martial, but they're worse than every 6th level and above caster.

Yeah, I've never seen anyone play a template in a game before, that's not normal at all. I wish I could play a vampire, that'd be nice.
>>
>>54803990
I'm thinking you don't actually play in games.

I can tell because you don't think gaining 10 class abilities that grants 1-3 feats in addition to other abilities is very powerful at all, especially with the "Extra Vigilante Talent" from LV. You can get more feats than any fighter and better social skills than any bard without using LV, and not the weak feats either.

Not quite sure why you think I'm the stupid one here.

>How bad are solarians REALLY? Like, levels 1-6, how does a solarian do if the other option's a melee soldier with Blitz? Aren't all solarians supposed to ignore Solar Armor and go for heavy armor?

They're fine. Solarians are much more mobile than Blitz Melee Soldiers, getting the ability to charge as a standard action at level 2 with Stellar Rush, 3 whole levels before the Soldier can. That is to say, at level 2 you can actually reach enemies in melee with a better to-hit than the soldier can until he catches up at level 5, at which point the soldier blows 3100 of his 9000 WBL on a jet pack, has spent a similar amount on armor, leaving him with an optimistic 4k WBL to buy some sort of melee weapon, only to be screwed if an enemy has the right resistance, a problem he will have to deal with by either buying different, cheaper weapons (re: lower dps) until level 12 when it can buy penetrating attack.
The Solarian on the other hand can comfortably buy a solarian crystal for 1/3rd of WBL, spend the same amount on armor, and still have enough to buy tech, magic items, weapon fusions, hell, even an urban cruiser if you want to.

Soldier is far better off trying some sort of switch-hitter. DPS may be a little higher in melee, but certainly not til level 5.
