They always do.

Seems like most of the three-pose things that come out these days get two-model boxes on release, with the third (most complex to cast?) saved for Ltd Eds.

Not a clue, I play Arcanists.
On paper they look decent though - they're one of the models people love to hate because Regen and Reckless is free AP.
>>
>>54677499
So I think I might pick up Tits McSteamfitter. I don't play Arcanists, but I think she'd make a great alternate nurse.

The boobs remind me of the Nurse's plastic surgery obsession, and a blowtorch is par for the course for McMourning style surgery.

That's not a bad idea actually, especially given the look of the Flesh Constructs.
>>
>>54678642
>>54678807
I haven't run them, but for their price they look thoroughly okay.

The regen needs a 7 to get off, so it's less likely the more you run. Their damage profile isn't all that great, unless up against something Glowy helps with.

The biggest drawback is that they don't compare well against other 7ss models like Burt or Francois.
>>
>>54678481
At $40 for two it seems like a bad deal now. The Jorogumo are great at $40 for 3. I guess that puts them in line with the mounted guard.
>>
>>54679881
I'm thinking about making my own, on the cheap. I'm not that huge a fan of the models.
>>
Does anyone know of an easier digest verson of the FAQ/errata? I played a lot about a year ago then left the country came back and found quite a bit of changes and am kinda scrambling to get it together to start up a league soon
>>
>>54681502
When a new FAQ or errata comes out Aaron or whatever makes a thread on the forums detailing what the general changes are. They are probably worth looking at.
>>
So, Kentauroi: are they going to be more for carrying Nico/Molly around, or are they worth it as beaters?
>>
>>54682415
It looks like both too me. Although generating corpses seems more in Nico's bailiwick. I could see Reva using them too.
>>
What do you guys think of Talos? Does he enhance Tara's gameplay or is it just more gimmicky plates to keep spinning?
>>
>>54682581
It looks like a pretty solid beater.

Into the Furnace seems pretty card intensive to keep up. And if you fail Talos takes a bunch of wounds. Although I guess you could use it as a quick heal late game, or focus on low willpower units, like Lenny.
>>
Randomly, the "tarot Fate Deck" is listed as a TTB product. Do we know if it'd work as a Malifaux fate deck or are there any differences that'd prevent it?
>>
>>54683252
I think it'll just have Tarot symbols on a normal fate deck, since that's what TTB uses.

Maybe it'll have rules for character creation on the cards if it's weird.
>>
>>54683300

Thanks. I'm not very familiar with TTB.
>>
>>54683317
It's pretty much what you'd imagine. It's about as close to a direct port of Malifaux into a RPG as you could get. IIRC, the two are pretty much cross compatible. (Anything Master level will wreck your shit BBEG style.)
>>
>alt Hamelin box is $90
Oh, right in the wallet. Was expecting it to be around $75.
>>
>>54683797
That is rough.
>>
>>54683797

Yeah, shot right out of my price range. It's a fun set but not $90 fun, especially with the add-on coming Black Friday.
>>
So, after reading Reva's bit in Book four, I'm wondering whether she's actually a force for good or not.

I know it's supposed to be ambiguous but I'm hoping she's legit. It'd be cool to have an actual good resser. Although I guess Molly isn't too far off.
>>
>>54684007

I don't think Molly will ever be "evil", but she's becoming steadily grayer as time goes on.
>>
>>54683953
I'm probably still going to get it since my only Hamelin models are from 1st Ed, but I'm probably not going to be getting much else.
>>
>>54684210
I'm starting to think Hamlin must be a Wrrd favorite. This'll be his 4th model, iirc.

Maybe that's why 2point models are only cool when he does it.

Stalker's a very mobile scheme runner and Talos is another Tara gimmick.

if you can somehow kill collodi before he gets going then the rest of the crew is pretty ineffective, personnel puppet is reasonably short ranged too so if you've got some way of separating him from his puppets that makes him easier to deal with too.
I don't really know outcasts but stuff that ignores armor and H2K are always a bonus too.

Seriously, all of Ramos's abilities on the front are defensive tech. Armour +2, healing, and pushing people away (notably out of most melee ranges) isn't enough for people? Does he also need disguised, reborn (from the midnight stalker), impossible to wound and hard to kill?
>>
>>54722916
From my experience, Ramos is perfectly fine defense wise (although stuff that ignores triggers can fuck him up something proper but that's fine).

He could use a little versatility though, at the moment he's a little bland to play. How about Morphing your constructs into more expensive ones?

>>
Since he's just been brought up, how good is Leveticus in general ? Thinking of expanding to my second master.
>>
>>54733512
not as horribly killy as he was pre nerf, still perfectly decent, depending on upgrades there's a massive choice in what he can field since he can take undead/constructs/riders from other factions
>>
>>54734771
I thought the choice was just undead/constructs ?
>>

Riders with the emissary's conflux upgrade, but as the riders are either undead or constructs you can hire them with the pariah upgrades as well.

I definitely want the Kentauroi, even if they cut the best sculpt. I'm not 100% on Asura but it's a definite maybe. I'm kind of hopeful they'll have some stock of the alt McMourning, Nicodem, and Rafkin available.

>>
>>54736146
What exactly are the Asura Rotten beyond "yet another box of zombies"? Shit like this makes the Ressers the most boring faction ever.
>>
>>54736299
Asura is a mindless zombie factory that gives Mindless Zombies a Ml6 2/3/4 attack (all undeads really, but). The box just comes with two more MZ's because you're not going to have enough with 5 if you build a crew around them.
>>
>>54736413
I think that the zombies are there because they are supposed to be based with her. When they showed off her sculpt at Adpeticon they were glued onto the same base, and as of the last playtesting document she was supposed to have a 50mm base. Nothing stops you from basing the zombies separately of course, but we probably won't be fortunate enough to get extra stat cards for the zombies.
>>
>>54736513
Huh, well that's a bummer.
>>
>>54736413
So it's not 3 Asura Roten models, but the Asura's only the girl and there are 2 plain Mindless extras?
>>
>>54736772

Yes. Asura is a henchman.
>>
>>54724561
To truly understand balance, you'd need to play a ludicrous number of games, to see all the different crews matchups, the different crew selections, different terrain types, and with all the different scheme and strategies.

On the other hand, it's pretty easy to say that some shit's OP based on 1 game where it wrecked your face.
>>
>>54734820
....being able to take any constructs, or any undead is heaps. The whole outcasts, plus so much otherwise, you can get some sweet combos.

For example, the popular metal gamin + Teddy pairing.
>>
>>54737937

How's that work?
>>
>>54737937
.. metal gamin + teddy makes me want to puke, but that's more just me hating the models.

Something that is a lot better on paper than on the table. As mobile as teddy wants to be it can be hard to keep a metal gamin within 3".

I'm conflicted whether or not I want to grab Talos during Gencon. I play Ressers but I don't have Tara yet and am not in a huge rush for her since her box adds nothing to the rest of the faction. On the other hand, if I skip him now God only knows when he will actually be available again.
>>
>>54739879
I'm in the same boat. I've got Tara, but I've been on a big hamelin kick. I'm also getting the alt hamelin box and that's cutting into my gencon money quit a bit. Luckily the tarot deck turned out to be ass so I don't have to get that.

Gwynneth Maddox in wave 5 will be a mini-Lynch, so that's fun.
Lynch has 2 main modes- bag of tricks, or full brilliance tag and bag. Bag of tricks works better in 10T because hoo boy can that faction gain benefits from free discarding (via aces).

For the tag and bag (give opponents drugs, murder them for having drugs)- grab the box, beckoners for the lure and ability to give drugs at 10 inches. You've then got 7 ss to spare (assuming addict on huggy, 5ss of upgrades of lynch), so you can grab a scheme runner you like, or Mr. Tannen, or the depleted for cheap shitty tanks that have brilliance tricks.
>>
>>54742192
As for the how- not particularly much crossover, but a solid master who is forgiving for newbies while still having tricks. Beckoners only must haves, just grow from there as desired.
>>
>>54744389
Yeah, Molly and Kirai could summon each other, but it was a joke upgrade.

Somer could, at one point, be the only master his faction could ever need. Oh, wait...

There was a thunders henchman who was literally better than some masters. Ironside could get armor 2 and hard to wound. Lady justice could use her gun with shoot 3 and teleport through walls. Zoraida got an upgrade that literally did nothing while Lilith could turn half the board into carnivorous plants. Lynch could play literal poker.

I just got the starter set for Malifaux and I love the models. They are really beautifally sculpted and have TONS of character. But it's really fucking annoying when you have to glue 5 together for a model that could just be assembled in like two.
>>
>>54752407
Are you complaining about the 2-player starter? Because if so, I have bad news for you.
>>
>>54697569
I've run several campaigns with it,so heres some advice. Either invest in the penny dreadfuls that have Master level characters statted up in them, or make your own BBEG, because the book villains rarely go above Henchman, and your players will be strolling through them near the end game. Fate is optional, but fun and fluffy. Into the Bayou is an Amazing supplement that makes brilliant use for players who are new to the system, but know Malifaux. Into the Steam has some cool concepts, but is really easy to powergame. And the Books are worth it for the continued adventures of an Undead Mind Controlling mage who works for Lucius about 50% of the time.
>>
>>54752754
Thanks for the tips. I hope to see the second edition book balance things out a bit more.
>>
>>54752796
Oh and if you do use Into the Bayou, only allow one instance of the Talent "Crude Sense of humour." It gives a (0) action called "pull my finger" that applies poison +2 to all non-gremlins in a 2 aura range. You can see how broken that is if you have more than one person doing it.
>>
>>54753127
That sounds tragically dumb.
>>
>>54750552
The Tanuki are a strange design decision visually. I don't even hate them, really. I think that the models have a good amount of character and detail based on the renders. But it goes against all of the other TT monsters who are made to look "Realistic", whereas these guys look like Kung-fu Panda rejects due to how cartoony they are.

Mechanically they just don't cut the mustard. If they were 4ss and still had Tanuki Hat I would love to take them along with a lot of masters. Sending McCabe down board to threaten my opponent's deployment zone only to real him back in would be hilarious. Otherwise they just need a lot of set up in order to give other models reactivate, and they don't look like they are worth it. I may pick some up for vanity purposes as I did with the Fermented River Monks.
>>
>>54753166
Its terrifying. Poison +8 on the first round of combat.

Any particular opinions on the Necromancy-centric pursuits, like Graverobber and the Under Quarantine stuff?
>>
>>54753336
The Graverobber and Grave servant are as powerful as you as the Fatemaster allows them to be. Limit the number of zombies allowed, or make the enemies deal with the undead well. the stuff in Under Quarantine is actually very little to do with necromancy, and has some essential pursuits, like the medic and the forgotten. All the books are okay, just limit to what extent people use stuff, and if things get out of control, give one of them blood sickness and let them run around the city panicking for a few sessions.

Torakage, Archers, Sidir, Wastrels, Brothers, Fermented River Monks, Monks of High River, Tengu, Lone Swordsman, Obsidian Oni, Shadow Emmisary, Rail Workers, Oiran, Fuhatsu, Ototo.

I think that the quellers at least make sense. They aren't any crazier than the death marshals, but as was pointed out they don't really fit in with the other witch hunters. Guys like the charm warders on the other hand are pretty dumb. They need to get their new artist to stick to a few models rather than having her design the entire model range in a book.
>>
>>54758700
>sense. They aren't any crazier than the death marshal
I honestly hate the new flaming skull marshalls.

They were already seen undead gunslingers who tote literal coffins into battle to capture foes. But it was just wasn't cool enough, so they all need to be mini ghost riders too.
>>
>>54758700
>They need to get their new artist to stick to a few models rather than having her design the entire model range in a book.
Yuuuuuuup.
Good artist, maybe a little out of their depth working sixty-odd character models up to ready-to-CAD stage.
Also, did no-one check her style before they gave her the whole book to design?
Some of the models her styl suits, some very much do not.
>>
>>54758819
Same. I liked them a lot more when they looked like the dude from the cover of Deadlands.
>>
>>54761805
I feel like weird is getting further away from the "less is more" sure if a lot of the older models.

I liked that a lot of the old metal masters had relaxed poses, not everything is an over exaggerated action pose, like Lady J.
Maybe I'm just a grognard, but "kooky" stuff like>>54760212 is a turn off.
>>
>>54758597
Well, Ototo isn't super synergy- just free Flurry. Many are like that.

But over a whole list these things can add up, exactly as getting 7 free discard effects a turn sounds like it would.

>>54758639
Over the top is an symptom of the game's design in general, I'd say. So rarely do they release models with simple clarity of design (and ease of painting). More details, more big, more epicly kooky.

A neat trick is pairing Huggy with other Terrifying models. Obey someone into another unit's terrifying range (Yin, Ama, Illuminated), and cheat in an ace for their duel, essentially paralyzing them by winning one duel. You can do the same with Ama no Zako and Huggy's Terrifying, though at that point itll cost you masks/stones.

So, I want to get the Alt huggy to see what he looks like in person. While I like the old one a lot figure I might as well get it as I love playing Lynch. Got into 10thunder lately, should I get any of the new one's coming out? I really like Tanuki in general.
>>
>>54773999
Assuming everything keeps in line with the rules we've last seen...

If you're into Lynch, Gwyneth is amazing. Frees up a lot of Lynch and Huggy's AP, though you're at that point kinda tied to playing Brilliance. 2x7 + 9 + 1 + 5 would be about your average starting kit. That leaves you with 20 SS for other upgrades, models and cache.

Charm Warders can be really great with especially Misaki and Yasunori. Cruisemissiles really. Fun but not really something you'd want all the time.

Tanuki are shit. Then again, the trichi are shit so I guess they're consistent.

The Crime Bosses are decent mid-priced brawlers. I could see myself taking one with masters that are low on cards.

Lotus Eaters I really don't know. They're anti-schemers so that alone makes them a fairly pick that can be countered by even just accident, though their Bully and Wp duels can allow them to tie up some bigger beaters.

And the statue is just not quite there. He'd seem nice with Mei Feng or Asami but once you're up against opponents who know they're better off not prodding him he's essentially a smoke marker on steroids. Duel targetting Wk is nice though. But then again, Df3.
>>
>>54774131
You are definitely right about the statue. I was thinking that with Metal Gamin infiltrated over he could be better, but that means taking precious rocks away from more useful models like the emissary, porkchop, and Toshiro.

I am very happy about Gwyneth personally. I am definitely going to focus on Brilliance more often when running Lynch. I might even consider her for Asami as she makes getting the right cards easier.
>>
>>54774351
I just wish she'd give a boost to brillianced models outside of Lynch. I saw the idea of using her and one Illuminated with McCabe for a killy tagteam. Can't quite imagine her outside of Lynch as she is now though.
>>
>>54774131
>And the statue is just not quite there.
I think it'll depend a lot on what sort of maps you play on, but unless there's a lot of choke points to suck him in it's probably not worth it. I'm interested to see what the model end up looking like
>>
Thoughts on using the Kamaitachi over the peasants with Shenlong? I honestly love the idea of having the peasants give out focus and place scheme markers, but I have seen the Kamaitachi get a lot of use.
>>
>>54774463
That might be a nice idea were it not for the fact that peasants are 2 activations for 2 SS. And no amount of card draw, pushes or heals can match that, especially since Shenlong already has those three things bursting out his ass as is.
>>
>>54774131
Sad to hear Tanuki don't have the balls (hah) to be decent. Crime Bosses looked cool but i've already got more then enough beaters. Might look into Gwyneth and the Charm Warders then and call it a day. Thanks!
>>
What's everyone's thought on the new outcast models?
>>
>>54775296
I took part in the playtest for a while before it was made public, so although I didn't get to actually PLAYtest anything I've looked at the cards a LOT

>Talos
Looks like the most fun to me, although a tad difficult to use. Aggressive bury Tara is going to be hella fun next wave ;) and Talos slots right into that style of play. Slightly shit that he messes with Glimpse the Void, but order of activation was already huge with Tara. Karina can help make sure the thing he buries will immediately die as well which is nice to ensure his survival

>Freikorps Engineer
Not as janky as it could be (it's strengthen armour specifically states it only works on armour +1, so no adding rams on the Strongarm for example) but still pretty good IMO. Card draw is always nice, but it's not the easiest to get going. Another source of cracked is nice to have as well, and suits the 'support role' of the Engineer

>Benny Wolcomb
Dogshit with Parker, almost zero synergy outside of having the Drop It trigger. His ability to convert enemy scheme markers near Vermin is nice, but how many Vermin are you taking with Parker? His synergy is nice (great even with Hamelin, who I think will really get use out of him) but with Parker it's anti-synergistic

>Prospector
Godlike, for it's cost it does so much for the crew. Potentially adding soulstones is great, the push towards scheme markers speeds it up (not that it's especially slow at Wk5). As a damage dealer there's not much to write home about (talking about shafts comboed with I've struck soulstone is nice if you get the damage, although the control is waaaaaay better) but as a control model it's amazing. Counter-scheming with appraise(which might hopefully end up being able to give you soulstones, it's something that was spoken about a lot in the playtest) and the ability to pull enemies out of position is quite simply awesome. I'd happily pay merc tax for them in certain crews as well

And that's word limit, rest soon

>Marlena Webster
Another of the Wave 5 choices that is pretty amazing, this one being the Inquisitive Child from Divergent Paths. Steadfast Protector makes her a pretty nasty counter-schemer, and 'her' melee attack has a nice damage spread, her ranged attack is baller as fuck, the summoning option is there (although I wouldn't use it much) but the real star is her 0 action. Gives the leader much more survivability, especially if you can heal up Marlena when it happens. Great for someone like Vik of Ashes or Misaki that are pretty flimsy, even Tara makes good use of it.

>Midnight Stalker
Honestly, this is the one I just couldn't seem to click with. He fucks around with activation order, and you have a serious decision of when to activate him (which is really nice from a tactical POV). He seems like a nice tarpit, or more accurately a way to bog down enemy scheme runners and stop them scoring (Notice a pattern here?) but he can also dish out a stack of damage

Those are my opinions, I'd take them with a grain of salt but it's up to you to decide how you see them

Man I feel like guild guards are the most cowboy things in Malifaux. I hate hearing that they are not any good. I've been watching Wynnona Earp and I want to play with little demon slaying cowboys now.
>>
>>54775783

I feel Parker Barrows' crew easily blows them out of the water, as far as wild west aesthetic goes.
>>
>>54775529
I think the engineer is going to be real popular. Unless they change the wording it's a 6 ss model that can give itself a 3/4/6 damage spread on a ranged attack and add card draw.

>>54775817
Perdita and Co are pretty high up there too.
>>
>>54776559
I'm definitely going to get use out of the Engineer, pretty hyped for Schill in general next wave. Doesn't put him anywhere near my 2 favourites to play though, which are Tara and Parker
>>
>>54776682
I really like the friekorps, but I was disappointed with Von Schill himself as a master.

I'll be interested to see how his new upgrade turns out.

Anyone ever played Throught the Breach before?
Thoughts, opinions, anything?

Would love to get my friends into the game as I really enjoy the mechanics from a pure theoretical viewpoint.
>>
How do you guys decide how many Soulstones to keep open after hiring? I'm new to this, so how do you decide how many models you want to bring along versus how many Soulstones you want to use for bonuses? Are there any guidelines?
>>
>>54777044
You'll probably be happy with what Schill gets, the artwork from Through the Breach 2nd Ed up earlier in the thread may be related to what he gets. It also might be completely unrelated, you'll have to wait and see ;)
>>
>>54777463
Depends on what you have and what you feel like, playing a summoner, you'll want a full cache, a beatstick master or henchmen will also want lots for damage reduction.
>>
>>54777054
Great fun, but the rules clean--up 2nd ed is gonna provide, is much needed, since it's pretta easy to powergame.
>>
>>54778239
Yeah, I'm currently going through the 2nd ed book and there seem to be a lot of small details and especially the magical theories that have been reworked.
And the equipment pages are much easier to digest.
>>
>>54777463
It depends on who I'm running, but most of the time I try for a full or mostly full cache.

>>54777054
I haven't yet, but I do want to run a game or at least a one shot with it.

I've got the 1st Ed books, but I'll probably wait until I can find a PDF of the second ones.
>>
>>54777044
He does have one of the most hilarious interactions in the game, ripping off his shirt a la Hulk Hogan, and then having the Emissary give him a new one each turn.

>>54777463
Generally more is better. Having 4 or less gives so little protection to your masters and henchmen, much less the importance of the card draw each turn, and the ability to try to take the initiative.
>>
>>54778877
it wouldnt happen to be a digital copy of 2nd ed you're looking through, and would be willing to share, would it ?

>Generally more is better.
Disagree.

If you run a summoner or a wade-in Master, or several tanky henchmen, you may want many.
Otherwise in most factions you could get an extra model, which is extra AP and activations, with those three or four stones.

I occasionally run Colette with 3ss - that's 2ss basic cache and a 49ss list.
Her target numbers are fairly low, she keeps out of the way, the henchman I take most frequently (Cassandra) has a bunch of defensive tech herself.

It will come with experience, but I don't think "7ss cache every game" is the best way to play it.

Try making a note of every time you spend a stone because you .must. hit this Trigger or prevent that damage or get those cards, and spend two minutes at the start of each turn checking the suits and numbers you need your hand for, and think whether you actually .need. to stone for cards to do what you want to do, or you just feel more comfortable with a couple more 8+s in your had.

Before someone says it - yes, Colette does get a free stone for a suit each turn, but that's only important if you let her get hit, or you want to summon Doves.
Don't do those things, don't need stones.
>>
Fluffwise, what is supposed to separate woes from normal spirits and tormented?
>>
>>54782501
I said generally, and I mean it. Some masters and crews don't need many. I almost never give Zorida any extra.

But if your master, or henchmen need guaranteed suits for mug abilities, or defensive bonuses you'll want close to a full pool.

There aren't a whole lot of support/ranged masters that don't need stuits and can comfortably stay back and also aren't running henchmen who need them offensively or defensively.
>>
>>54781353
They haven't put out a PDF of 2E for sale yet yet, just the physical version.

Fair point, I just got told a whole bunch when I started, from alls orts of sources, that taking a full cache was really the best idea.
In my case at least, it led to lazy play, as you've always got that damage reduction, you can rely on that trigger etc.

>>54784807
Two or three Tots and a couple of Young Nephilim, with Lillitu to drag something in to crush.
As I understand it Tangled Shadows is the 'classic' meat delivery method, but Lady Z could work.
>>
>>54785008
>In my case at least, it led to lazy play, as you've always got that damage reduction, you can rely on that trigger etc.
I know what you mean.

I've been ending a lot of games with 2-4 soul stones left.

I'm not sure if I should cut them, or just leave them as a custom as a cushion for when chance is again me.
>>
>>54785735
Playing TT my base cache averages at around 2. I can't spare 5 SS when that could go to more models/recalled trainings. 3 is really the most SS I leave for cache and that only with Mei and Asami.

>I'm not sure if I should cut them
Cut one or two, spend one or two.

If you're finishing with two, that's an upgrade you could have had.
If you're finishing with four, that's a whole activation.

Minimum, it's forcing through a trigger on something.

I had to really force myself not to hoard stones, but I think I end up not only relying on them less, but finding myself in positions where I would need them less.

If I'm pretty sure I won't need all of them, it can be worth spending a stone to put a nasty trigger into the equation.
Even if you know they have that twelve to block it, just force them to spend it - then you can be sure you can force something else through later in the turn.

Whatdo folks bring Kaeris out for?

What pools is she "for"?

I have Mei for the hitty-ish sets, and Colette for the hardcore interacty/ scheme markery stuff.

She's my next pick up because the model's so nice, and the gamin are probably handy.

Yes yes yes very good, she's shit and sub-optimal and poorly balanced for her abilities and there are better Masters to play in every pool.

Now that we've got that out of the way:

What is she for?

Am I looking for loads of scheme marker schemes?
Grab and Drop seems pretty good.

Area-holding?
Being able to fly people around seems pretty handy.

Assuming I'm going to play Kaeris, and I am going to play Kaeris, what would be the dream Strat and Scheme?

They are neverborn, native monsters of malifaux who have chosen to take form to feed on the negative emotions of the invaders.

The nephilim are a race with fixed forms who live lives that are relatively understandable. They eat, they mate, they feel emotions. Other neverborn are far more....abstract compared to humans.
>>
>>54784025
Yeah that's weird. Not like hot Lawyers were beasts 1st Edition (lol). You can think of it as being on the edge of the definition. Journalists try to feed on negative emotions and attack the mind (reputation), like how Lawyers are mimics in that they adapt to their role required in the courtroom - they will prosecute or defend regardless of the guilt or morality of their client.
>>
>>54788905
She can be quite an effective ranged crew, with fire gamin doing 3 damage on weak (2 and 1 burning), and her own shooting blasting away.

So, not schemes and strats where you need to hold a central point or get into the opponent's half.

Public beta after gencon.
>>
>>54789287
She's not for anything. She's mediocre at dealing damage, her mobility is just a little above average, and her damage dealing requires a lot of setup for mediocre damage. Her limited upgrades are potential liabilities and require absurd amounts of tripping over your own feet to get activation order correct. She's incredibly reliant on the emissary, but that clogs up her activations even worse.

And for new upgrades, every time she was given something cool in the play test people cried until it was made bad again, because "it invalidates her old upgrades." Yes, people argued that her new upgrades had to be bad because her old upgrades were bad.

She has no real role, no place, and nothing to do. She makes a very attractive second master in a 100ss game where you don't mind dedicating her entire turn to drawing six cards but if she's your only master you can't afford to be screwing around like that.
>>
>>54799135
Is there a noticable difference between the playtesters and the general fucking around on the public beta forum? Something about signing up via the forum feels like it'd attract a certain kind of asskissy people.

Lady J's upgrade seemed like something she needed though. Was Kaeris an outlier and have most weaker masters been given something to pull them up a bit (while stronger masters have been given alternative playstyles rather than buffs)?
>>
>>54799253
>have most weaker masters been given something to pull them up a bit
We don't know yet. The new upgrades don't come out for a week or so.
>>
>>54799253
There was, during the test, people who said Kaeris adding an additional burning was broken. These same people demanded Somer gain the ability to discard a card in place of friendly models taking damage for reckless and defended a henchman you could never break engagement with (even with placement) who had retaliatory strikes and summoning.

The shoddy testing groups is how we ended up with the mess that is gremlins. Idiots who play one game a month outnumber competitive players and their ideas get the attention.

I'm just going to have my (plastic) Mechanical Doves trailing coloured ribbons as flight stands.
At the moment the wing spars are painted Red/Green/White to colour-code my doves, so they will be trailing 1-3 ribbons of the same colour.

The Raptors seem easiest to put on a tree branch or something, unless you want to go with very fine wire.

Well, that's annoying as fuck, both as the prospective Kaeris player and a Malifaux player in general.
Doubly so regarding Kearis because she's such a fucking cool model.

>Idiots who play one game a month outnumber competitive players and their ideas get the attention.
I've never really understood why the playtesting was open in the first place.
That was a guaranteed effect of listening to everyone, and it isn't like Wyrd don't already have a huge network of community contacts through which to cherry-pick people to test things.

Place him in a pillar of kogs which have protrusions of mechanical claws from it.

>>54801360
It was closed to players. Basically any henchman could apply.

I'm not sure if you've talked to any henchmen lately, but they're generally lower tier players who focus on the cool and fun aspects.

Not that it's a problem, because their job is to organize events and help players get involved. That's not the players you want working on the cutting edge of development.
>>
>>54802236
You are absolutely wrong, sir.
Arcanist faction theme is MAGIC. Mechanical magic, elemental magic, wild magic - take your pick!
So you rather think which base you want for a certain model. Either it be "vanilla-themed" like magma and stuff for Emberling, or maybe it should be like born from the pool of molten metal, and thus be painted with metal colors and stuff with the "insides" being painted like magma and base being like a leftovers of railroad tracks.
Or, say, Marcus. You can make it "in da wilds mon!" themed simply standing on a rock or something, or you could give his eyes a glow, add the orange (for me orange is a good colour for wild magic he mastered) leylines on his skin like tatoos, and he himself standing in thicket, shadowed by its twigs and radiating the primordial power.
