Rifleman Dreadnoughts got axed in the codex but Mortis Dreadnoughts are still thing in the FW Index. You couldn't make them with the kits anyway, needing FW or 3rd party arms so honestly makes sense to remove them for the main book.

Has anyone tried Coteaz yet? I love his model, but he seems very okay for 100 points. Being able to cast 2 Powers is nice, but the other powers outside of Smite are okay. His Spy Network ability is only okayish if you have Acolytes out of transports, which is a terrible idea. Him not having a -1 to hit on his hammer makes up for the fact that he's WS3+. Psyber-eagle is just a slightly better to slightly worse Storm Bolter.

I am trying to use PrinceXML to export the extracted xhtml from the epub but I can't get it to be full page, how do?

The conversion works fine but it doesn't make it a full A4 page, it has a massive amount of whitespace along all the edges. Is there any way I can make it scale to the full A4 sized page with no border?

I've tried the --page-size=A4 command line option to no avail. --page-margin=0mm pushes it to the top left corner but doesn't expand it to the rest of the page.

Building an Inquisition themed army. Probs gonna be Ordo Hereticus. So far I got Greyfax and some scions. I plan to get 2 squads of acolytes with storm bolters although not sure if I should use chimeras or rhinos for transport. Also ordered 5 crusaders and will prob include a priest to buff them. What else would be good to get? I thought about getting a land raider for some heavy firepower but not sure if it would work in my force as I only plan on doing about 1k points.

>>
>>54572869
Holy fuck battlescribes formatting is god awful
>>
>>54572872

Authority of the Inquisition lets you take any Imperial Transport! And Acolytes, Inquisitors, and (now) Jokari all have that rule.
>>
>>54572869
I'm not playing against that unless all of those conscripts are fully painted.
>>
>>54572880
>Chimeras are the superior transport.
Why's that. I was gonna go with rhinos because FW still does the Inquisition doors which would look really nice.
>>
>>54572840
I agree Taurox Primes are the shit.
>>54572872
Acolytes get Authority of the Inquisition rule so they can take any Imperium transport. Taurox Primes are great, BS3+ and they get an assload of guns.
>>54572840
Deep striking Scions with Meltas do good work as heavy guns. You can also get an Inquisitor in Terminator armor for deepstriking Smite and to aid the Scions. Land Raiders are fun and super hard to kill, but you don't have anything good to put in them besides Acoltyes and Greyfax. Plus at 1000 points, they take up about a 1/3 of your army's points. You can use a Leman Russ Tank Commanders for firepower too.
>>
>>54572906
Did tauroxes get better in the new edition??
>>
>>54572916
Transport order is liek this

Taurox Prime > Chimera > Taurox > Rhino

Taurox Prime has tons of guns and good BS, Chimera holds a lot more and still has a good amount of guns, Taurox can have 4 Autocannon shots and all the Rhino can have is 2 Storm Bolters and a Hunter killer, which all the others can basically have too and more.

>>

Regular Taurox are about the same.
Primes got better because Missiles are better, and they made their Gatling Cannon heavy 20.

But the biggest issue with them before was their point cost. They didn't go up much, but Rhinos and Chimeras did.

Depends! Since I play Tempestus as a standalone army, I think they are for sure, since they don't have squad heavy weapons.

I run 4 Primes, two with the Missile Launchers. Then I rely on Sentinels for other heavy shooting.

>>
>>54572983
For Chimera I personally like Storm Bolter, 2x Heavy Bolters, but you can have 2 Heavy Flamers, you just pay a lot for it.

For Taurox Prime I like Gatling Cannon, Hotshot Volley guns and Storm Bolter. It works even better because a full Acolyte squad with Storm Bolters inside of it means you're shitting out tons of S4 firepower at something.

>>54572993
How are Sentinels performing for you? I have yet to use them because of the -1 to hit on heavy weapons. I took them all the time last edition for the reason of shooting heavy weapons at 4+ on the go.

Heavy Flamers on the Chimera IMO, because Guard can't shoot straight.

Almost always rock the Heavy 20 Gatling Cannon on the TP. Taurox Battle Cannon is neat, but you have more reliable options for midstrength weapons.

As soon new 40k player here, how annoying would be for you guys to play against a newbie that keeps asking questions about this and that?
Let's say he knows the core rules and his own army special/advanced rules but doesn't know your army rules and asks about every single special rule that applies to your army once you apply them in-game.

All of these rules seem to kind of makes sense to me but I won't know for sure until I play and get to practice those rules / remember them. Without playing, I can't really learn every single rule for every army and shit and I don't wanna be a pain in the ass.

Deep Striking is their bread and butter. I usually take 4 Primes, 4-6 Scion squads.2 Command Squads (1 plas/1 melta) and 2 Tempestor Primes. Filling out the rest with Sentinels, I deep strike as much as possible with boat loads of Melta and Plasma while holding the front line with the Taurox and Sentinel armor.

I loved Warscythe Lychguards. 2A, S7, -4, 2d. What is there NOT to love?
But +1 attack, +5'' movement and <FLY> really makes the Praetorians stand taller in my book.

Lychguards are kinda reliant on the Nightscythe to get into melee with the enemy vehicles/dreadnaughts/characters; but the Nightscythe seldomly survive turn 1 after moving over the enemy line to drop the guards.

The first four or five Horus Heresy books are pretty good and they of course describe really important events for the setting. Descent of Angels is the first really bad book in that series. Still HH is an enjoyable read in general.

A few other recommendations are the Path of the Dark Eldar by Andy Chambers, and the Night Lords trilogy by ADB. Good books for getting the "bad guys" perspective.

I agree, I don't want it to be lopsided. We had a blast doing a 3v3,1000 points each game yesterday. I was tempted to count my Guard as Renegade Guard for the event after that game, but I might not have to. Looks like everyone is trying to balance things out to make it more exciting.

This is another store nearby, but I don't go there. So it's good to see our area has these kinds of players.

This.

I can understand if they don't make any bits, but denying a unit or character certain wargear options because it's too hard to take them from another kit ("how do I put vanguard vet grav-pistol on my SM commander?") It's so frustrating especially with primarines, when you got next to no options for customization. And if you do, it's basically "replace bolter with another bolter" or "sergeant can take a power sword." What the fuck?

>Seldom has the manse itself been breached successfully and have the intruders escaped with their lives. One incursion is said to have involved a squad of Fire Hawks Space Marines, a Chapter long since declared lost in the mortal realm. While Nurgle was preoccupied drowning a Lord of Change in his cauldron, the Space Marines arrived engulfed in an inferno of flame and bolter fire to reclaim their fallen captain, whom Nurgle’s minions had once overtaken all-too easily from Khorne’s Wrathgate. The Lord of Decay has his suspicions about the source of this event, laying blame at the feet of the Blood God for the foul deed, for while the Fire Hawks brought their inferno, several blood relics and skull-seeds also vanished from the garden.

-

>Ten Space Marines of the Fire Hawks Chapter slip through the ethereal void and enter the realms of Nurgle to free Captain Tirek, who is held captive within Nurgle’s manse. The Fire Hawks are enveloped in a spiritual fire, a cleansing inferno of their wrath made manifest. They fight their way through the thick, ever changing gloom and assault his dwelling, burning back the drips of ichor and clouds of spores. Fierce fighting rages throughout his oubliette, their weapons furiously dealing with diseased creatures. Their cleansing flame purges disease from the very air around them. The Fire Hawks’ incandescent attack results in the deaths of hundreds of the Nurgle’s subordinates. Having lost only two battle brothers in the melee, the Fire Hawks finally leave with Tirek. However, little do they realise that Nurgle’s Rot has taken root beneath their captain’s power armour, and the bubbling plague is spreading throughout his body. The Fire Hawks venture back out into the Immaterium, their captain slowly succumbing to disease, becoming a vector for the horrific Red Plague.

That screencap is shit, since it's mainly just butthurt about the Emprah not being Best Dad which is as sad as Chaos fanboys reeing whenever Chaos isn't portrayed as Best Stepdad, coupled with 'author's politics triggers me' shit from /pol/.

Real crime of that book is ADB basically used one of the Emperor's five or so monologues to basically hype up Abaddon and how he's going to be Horus 2.0. make none of his mistakes and is guaranteed to destroy the Imperium, and thus, plug his other book series. Which is shitty both from a fluff point of view and from courtesy to the ready that they shouldn't have a commercial for your other books worked into the climax of the book they've bought.

It's like if Abnett dropped constant references to Tanith into Know No Fear, and how great Tanith is, and how hardy the colonists are, what unstoppable badass soldiers they'll be in the future etc etc.

Poor form.

The realms of the gods are manifestations, not tangible things. There is no mountain of skull floating in the warp you can nuke. There are no physical gardens. They are only seen through visions and dreams, when the god wants to lure you into their realm. Draigo's fluff says he can't attack the gods because they do not allow him to. If the realms of the gods were tangible, what would stop him from kicking in the door and going in? Only reason he could burn down Nurgle's garden was because Nurgle allowed him to enter it, probably thinking he could corrupt the Knight, only to have the plan backfire on him.

No. It's not the same. The 40k Realm of Chaos doesn't have Skavenholes leading to reality for example. 40k Slaanesh isn't and hasn't even been a prisoner of the elves. Etc. Also one of the recovered Chaos weapons being reviewed by fantasy scholars in the book was a CSM chainsword that found its way to WHFB.

Due to the time in the Warp being twisted, Slaanesh and Skaven shenanigans could not have happened in the 40K universe or happened at the same time.

You didn't explain anything at all. See I never remember the old fluff going into great detail about what a really nice guy the Emperor was. It talked a lot of shit about his great deeds and his vision for mankind, but it never talked about what he was like as a person.

Besides, for him to create a potentiality whereby fully half of his sons would destroy most of the known galaxy in the worst rebellion in history, you have to at least consider the fact that he may have beena huge cock. ESPECIALLY since the whole grimdark makes great pains to tell you that "there are no good guys".

>>
>>54573834
Drach'nyen is just a facet of humanity, it's linked the species and has been since the start, it's not an existential threat to anything except the stability of human empires.

The threat that motivated the Emperor was the psychic evolution of the human race and their increasing contact with the Chaos gods, he saw them essentially becoming Eldar+ and having a psychically triggered extinction event even greater.

Both the Emperor and the Cabal saw the same thing, they've just got different solutions.
>>
>>54573784
>Well the story was all about this one brave man on a quest to save the galaxy.
What? No, the story is about Orks doing orky things, and sometimes humans, who are idiots, get involved. When was 40K ever about how great the Emperor was? >It's stored in a physical medium, but you can't take any bunch of electrons and chemicals and have them contain the same idea. Just like any sheet of paper with some ink on it does not contain the same words and not all air vibrations sound the same
You absolutely can make everything perfectly identical if you have the right tools and technology.

The more you reduce something to its base elements, the more the differences between physical bodies disappears.

Yes his entire argument in the Last Church was basically "religion is evil and is the source of all the conflict" fedora tipping, not "in order to deny its use as a tool to enslave mankind, I must destroy it." If religion is inherently bad, why is faith in the Emperor such a powerful tool in 40k? Why don't you find living saints in the ranks of the Administratum or the Admech?

Maybe next time the Emperor starts building an empire of logic and reason, he might also include honesty and openness into it, because lying to your generals and making decisions without any reasoning are good ways of turning people against you.

Atrocities done in the name of religion is worse than secular atrocities in 40K since the symbolism and zeal inspired by religion spawns more powerful daemons. Ergo, religion in 40K is a force of EVUL regardless of intent.

Gee, you know what would be useful right now? An army of genetic shocktroops, superior even to Astartes in close-combat, bred soley for the brutal one-to-one fighting the daemons focus on and crucially, shielded against pretty much any attempt at psychic manipulation, possession or corruption.

>Why don't you find living saints in the ranks of the Administratum or the Admech?

Not involved in the autistic on both sides argument, but Priests of Mars has what's basically an Admech Living Saint. He's a random conscripted bondslave dude who has inherent Neo powers going on with the noosphere, he makes the servitors on the ship rebel and tries to negotiate better conditions for the bondslaves.
Also, the Admech's religion explicitly protects them against Chaos and does actually support the Quest for Knowledge, so that seems like a positive force overall. Admech code-psalms CAN defeat Chaotic corruption, so faith in the Omnissiah seems to have the same benefits that faith in Emps has.

>This story takes place in the impious ages of Old Earth, in a land known as Gawl, also called the Franckish Empire. A princely holy man of the Steel Era that followed the Bronze and Iron Epochs believed himself able to hear the words of his faceless deity. To reflect his self-proclaimed purity, he takes the name Innocent, and then he takes his followers to war.

>Lord Innocent calls a crusade to eradicate a heretical sect, which our fragmented histories refer to as the Karthur. He demands they be burned for their sins against the imaginary god. But these holy warriors – these knights – clad in primitive armour and wielding swords of steel, are the princes and lords of their realm. To them, the virtues of nobility and honour matter above all. The people of their empire look to them for justice, and theirs are the blades that defend the virtuous weak from the evil strong.

>Until their overlord, Innocent, blesses them. He declares their actions to be sacred deeds done in the name of the god they believe to be real. Any crimes they commit in this war will be ignored. Any sins shall be forgiven.

>Siegecraft in this bygone age is fought with catapults of metal and wood that hurl boulders of stone. City walls are brought down by these primitive machines, crewed by peasants and mathematicians alike, and once the walls fall the foot soldiers march in, led by their lords and princes.

>Albajensia, the fortress of the Karthur heretics, falls at dawn. The sword-bearing knights lead their holy warriors into the city, and with all their sins forgiven even before they are committed, the crusaders show no mercy. The heretics numbered no more than a few hundred, yet the whole city burns. Men, women, children...all butchered on the knights’ blessed blades.

>But what of the blameless masses? What of the children who know nothing of their parents’ heresy? What of the thousands of loyal, devout souls who have broken no laws, and do not deserve death?

Abraham Locke didn't rez himself when killed, either, it seems to be a different powerset although innately pretty damn powerful given he goes head-to-head with what's basically seven Magi at once at the end of the book, although assisting an Archmagos and Magos of his own. Still, around three times as strong as a regular Magos is around Living Saint power, especially untrained. He also shoots what should by all rights be an unloaded and broken plasma pistol, although it explodes in the process.

"Machine-touched", they called him, and apparently it was a rare phenomenon but not unheard of.

>‘Kill them all,’ says Innocent, the primitive Warmaster of his age. ‘Kill them all. Our God will know who is loyal.’ He condemns thousands to death, not because they are guilty, but because he believes a mythological paradise awaits those unjustly murdered by his men.

>And thus, the city burns. An innocent population is wiped from the face of the world by the blades that should have defended them.

>Like every emotion and deed, this slaughter is reflected in the Sea of Souls. The hate, the fear, the rage and bitter sense of betrayal – all of it curdles behind the veil. Few things feed the warp as sweetly as war, and few wars hold the same rancid symbolism as those declared by the strong against the weak they are sworn to protect.

>Such slaughter gives birth to daemons within the empyrean. Countless mewling terrors born from individual moments of suffering and bloodlust. Above them, more powerful entities also swirl into existence: one born from a blaze, deliberately started, that claims a dozen lives at once; another arising from a mother’s abject horror at seeing her children spitted upon the lances of those she’d believed to be her noble and holy protectors. These acts, and thousands more like them, breed the Neverborn in the hell beyond reality’s veil.

>Sometimes, as with this crusade of Albajensia, a daemon is born that rises above its siblings, one that encapsulates all the miserable complexity, cruelty and blood-soaked shame of the genocide. Imagine that creature, born of this sublime betrayal. Imagine a spirit of war given life when a warrior caste turns its blades upon its own people, acting upon the words of a tyrant, in the name of a lie.

Something that exists only on the internet still exists. Even if it is just data on a server that is accessed, it is a physical existence because the data exists. Humans are basically computers that have different physical processes that create, store, receive, decode, and/or transmit data between physical media.

If the Chaos gods can influence a human brain, the Chaos Gods must exist in a physical sense or they would not be able to influence the brain. When daemons enter the physical realm they are simply changing their state to one that can more directly interact with the physical realm.

Essentially, the Chaos Gods are data clusters of executable self-replicating viruses that access human brain servers using some form of physical wavelengths in order to change the system functions of the person. Humans are always-online nodes that broadcast their data. Their datastream can create data clusters depending on how much of that type of data is being transmitted. Once the data achieves a certain level of volume it will begin transmitting data back to the source in an attempt to infect more systems.

Warp rifts are like a printer/scanner that converts the medium into a different state.

Though if you just want a big Sisters squad I don't think they need a Rhino. Save that for if you bring Repentia/DCA/Crusaders/Arco-Flags.

One, you shifted goalposts. While it is true the story you told has a religious order in it, the exact line in the text was that defenders turning on their charges causes particularly strong reactions in the warp. It never says religious violence. Second you are making an assumption and generalization about the sisters of battle, which is not necessarily supported by cannon.

I already know you'll just keep keeping on and won't listen to me, probably insult me in some manner truth be told to try and make yourself feel or look superior in your own mind, but you are twisting things quite a bit to try and match your warped viewpoint. Quite frankly I think you need to get your head on straight, cause you seem a bit off kilter.

The thing is, Rhinos are only worth to transport Melee units from the Church like A-F, Crusaders or DCA with their respective Priest for buffin

Immolators with HB or the Immolation Flamer really makes that transport useful.

12" Assault 2 S5 AP-1 D1 is actually rather good on its own.
>>
>>54574483
Yeah, the plan is for the Repressors to be mobile bunkers for the Dominions. The Sister squads with flamers get Rhinos to get to forward objectives better, one buffed by Greyfax and the other by the Canoness. The HB squads are on foot.

Both of you are wrong.

You can still use the Index with the Codex for datasheets that are not included in the Codex, or weapon options for datasheets in the Codex that no longer have those options. But you also have to use the most recent points, which will be in the Codex for the foreseeable future for most things.

Basically you need either the Codex, or both books. You CAN run them both together as long as you use the more recent points and the more recent datasheets (but with both sets of wargear options). What you cannot do is play purely using the Index.
>>
>>54574413
Yes. There's a PDF with the point on Warhammer Community and the datasheets are in the box.

How often do people try to run completely homebrewed units? And how much does it make somebody That Guy for doing so?

Someone posted a custom unit in the last thread or so and made me think of it. I'd try to balance the points costs as much as I can based on what GW lists in the codex, but if nobody would ever play against them then I might as well save myself the trouble.

Except besides from a couple of similar names, it's absolutely nothing like the Cathar crusade.
Unless you have something later in the book that says "it was the cathar crusade occuring from 1209 to 1229" there's little reason to think it's that, since it's so vastly different. Catalyst is wrong, nobles were more than happy to go to war, places aren't the same, numbers are completely wrong, innocent is the only name that's the same, the lead up is wrong and the actual events aren't in line with what happened.

>Any speculation about Chaos Legion Tactics and possible unique units?
The Big 4 are getting their own codices, so they'll likely have have tactics/stratagem bonuses for god-specific armies. Like "If a Battle-forged army contains units of which all are aligned to [Khorne] Keyword, then that army may use tactics, relics and stratagems from the Khornate Alignment page." or some shit like that. So Khorne Berzerkers will count as Elites unless you have the World Eaters Keyword which you have from the Index. Same goes for the other Gods.

Give Emperor's Children more than just "we have slightly better Noise Marines"

-Maybe something encouraging Fast attack choices like Bikers like charging after advancing/falling back
-Or similar to Noise-Marines and Slaanesh Daemons to be able to strike first/strike after dying

not going to happen but New Models Wise:
-Plastic Noise Marines
-Sonic Bikers
-Sonic Dreadnought
-Phoenix Terminators
-Plastic Palatine Blades
-Updated Lucius
>>
>>54574470
>2e era models don't look like current ones

Same era Plague Marines don't look like MkIII and Rubric Marines don't look like MkIV. That's because the suits are SUPPOSE TO be MkV. Just like Plague Marines were SUPPOSE TO be MkIII.

So, if new Rubrics are in MkIV and new Plague Marines are in MkIII, new Berzerkers should be in MkV to continue the trend.

Marines aren't psychically shielded or as strong. Tactics and training aren't as important against daemons in the webway where it's just 24/7 melee.

>>54574284
>implying their pure RAGE wouldn't make them daemons of khorne hybrids

Thunder Warriors are described as cold blooded. They don't RAGE, they just kill.

>>54574153
Nah, they fought all sorts of bizarre shit in the Unification Wars, from proto-dreadnoughts, Martian raiding parties, mutant hordes to daemons and possessed psykers. They'd be fine against daemons.

I collect Imperials and chaos in equal amounts

I try to focus around the dudes that were part of the siege of vraks though so my 2 main armies are Red Scorpions and Khorne/Nurgle CSM with some renegades.

despite collecting plenty of imperials, I still really want chaos to win. Just cause I want my hopeless grimdark struggle for survival back. It sucks how much the odds are stacked against chaos too with all the new primaris and codex: space marines coming out.
>>
>>54574649
Rhinos are not very useful for SoB squads, for melee units the church has they work like a charm.
>>
>>54574623
The book underlines the process of daemon birthing in more than one area. The process is similar to how the SoB operate and yet you want to claim the holy wars of the Imperial Church never spawned daemons? I don't think so!

In 30k you can have T6 power armoured ogryns with power axes, if you like.

Also:
>30k

You have two boxes that give you a ton of infantry models and most of GW vehicles are perfectly kosher for 30k.

Charonite Ogryns. You chop a regular Ogryn's hands off, replace them with buzz saws/pincers and get it off it's head of PCP before shoving it in the general direction of the enemy. It's how Solar Auxilia, the 30k Imperial Guard, dealt with space marine boarding parties during the Horus Heresy.

For some reason, it makes the Mechanicum REEEEEE, though probably only because they didn't think of it first.
