I'm not cut out for things like 'wrong or right', but what would you folks do in this situation? Would you try and help the hopeless, tragic couple to the bitter end, or would you cut and run in hopes of finding a better solution in the distant stars?

Or, hell, would you just ditch them altogether?

I'm more than twenty thousand years older than when I left. The "me" that would return to earth on death or choosing to return home would not even bear much resemblance to the one that left.

I'm not human in thought or even most of my forms.
Odds are I'd also become rather antsy 10 years after my return - old habits die hard.
>>
Asking again:

Can one acquire more affinities in World Seed? If so, what exactly are the advantages of starting with/ buying one instead of just learning them?
>>
>>54345544
Sure. Making deals with spirits is just part of the job, when you're doing magic. Usually I purchase either exotic ingredients or aid in accomplishing tasks. I don't go for blessings, all the good blessings require long-term commitments that I just can't keep to as a jumper. I'm fairly careful to only deal with reputable spirits, too, so I've never had any terrible price for it like sacrificing a baby or anything like that. But I do often wind up having to go through some difficult task for them, in order to secure their aid. Slay a monster, spread the influence of their cult, acquire a rare object, stuff like that.

How do you deal with acquiring items or powers that are available canonically in setting and on the actual jump page? I'm thinking non-unique items (weapons specifically) are available as normal, but aren't insured. Powers and unique items off the table.

Thoughts? I'm writing for VtR, so I want opinions on whether or not diablerie would be worth doing to get more disciplines and skills of if that's something most people think I shouldn't be allowed to do. Obviously I can do whatever I want, but I'm curious.

Val, I was reading something and was wondering which of these interpretations of a line from Because I Admired You from Oreimo is closer to the truth (or if they're both wrong):

>Spending a full day practicing five different sports will have you see results as if you spent a full day practicing with each individual sport, letting you master a great many things at once.

One
>Without Perk: Spend one day practicing five sports: Acquire 1/5th day training in all five.
>With Perk: Spend one day practicing five sports: Acquire one full day training in all five.

Two
>All you are doing is being able to split your attention without the natural negative effects that would come from splitting your attention. More to the point the last sentence states that you DO still need to practice all those different things. You can't just practice one thing and then say that you got the same amount of skill in 9 other things at the same time, you have to actually practice all 10 different things, at the same time, if you want to benefit from learning 10 different things at the same time.

Thoughts? I can see either one, honestly.

Indeed, because you're not. It's just that you're counting as having spent more time then you really did on the subject, not that your learning rate is faster.

Isn't that pretty much just a semantic difference? Whether you're reducing the time needed to spend learning or multiplying the rate at which you learn, the end result is "you learn things faster".

>need to be a total idiot to think otherwise
That doesn't really seem fair, honestly. There are dozens of arguments like that over here, as well, and misinterpreting such a statement is not really indicative of much else.

Worm_anon, a few days ago some discussion came up about Jumper ages vs main character ages in Worm - specifically how Jumper could not roll an age to match certain main, important or recurring characters. (Notably Skitter, Vista and Dinah.)

The idea was kicked around to possibly offer two different age rolls, one to cover the teenagers and another to cover the rest.

Semantics can have importance. If you were learning things faster, then you'd do so even if you were only learning one subject faster. Or it might interact with similar abilities in a different way. And then there's how 'learning faster' doesn't fit what it's based on, since the character it was based on is not notable for learning things really fast but for how she balanced learning multiple things at once to a high level despite each normally requiring lots of time on their own. It's quite explicit that said character did not have any talent, hence the reason the semantics make a difference.

I'm just teasing anon.

I promised Fables perks today, so here they are.

Pedigree (100 CP, Royalty)- You’ve got that royal look. You know what I mean. You’re not just fine; you’re fair. Boy or girl, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll be the most beautiful person in any room you care to enter.

Duelist (100 CP, Royalty)- Pistols or swords at dawn? Either way, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll come out on top. Not only are you extremely skilled in the art of dueling, you also possess skill with a variety of gentlemanly weapons, such as the lance, dagger, or rifle. You’re also confident enough in your skills to keep your head in an actual fight, at least metaphorically.

A Romance With The Whole Community (200 CP, Royalty)- Not like that! (Although…) No, instead you have a great skill for examining a community; getting a feel for what the people dislike, their grievances for others and how things are, as well as their wants and needs. You’re also pretty good at baiting out similar answers from others on a more personal level.

Lovable Scamp (200 CP, Royalty)- You’re no common rogue, but on occasion one must act in a manner not entirely befitting one of your status. Fortunately, others seem more willing to forgive or even ignore your more ignoble pursuits so long as you occasionally engage in an act of genuine altruism or heroism. Don’t expect those you’ve outright exploited to be happy with you, though; you can only wrong someone so many times before they start to despise you.
>>
>>54346142
Which is why I did. Thanks for the quick response. Though I've noticed it's mainly an issue when the jumpmakers aren't here to clarify, whether because they're asleep or literally no longer part of this community, or hell even when they're slow to respond to criticism.
>>
>>54346086
Not a bad idea since it'll let people pick whether they want to be Wards/Undersider age or be an actual adult.

I do want to say to keep in mind that Vista and Dinah are by NO means typical though, they're at the far end of the young range and they see far more action than any other parahuman their age would entirely due to the fucked up circumstances in Brockton Bay.

The age range as it stands currently also at it's minimum is only a year older than Taylor at the beginning, which is hardly a big difference.

I'll split them up so people have some more freedom in the fluff of their background, though I don't know if I'll let it dip into Dinah/Vista age ranges. Feels like it clashes with the sort of assumed level of involvement a lot of the perks assume, but that's something for me to ponder as time goes on.

Charming (400 CP, Royalty)- Being as rich, charismatic, and beautiful as you doubtlessly are, it’s no surprise that you’re no stranger to carnality. Some may think you have supernatural powers of seduction, but the truth is you’re just too damn irresistible. You could seduce someone quite easily over the course of a few hours, and your gentle touch is ecstatic. Naturally, you are skilled in the art of making love.

Warmaster (400 CP, Royalty)- The Art of War might not be as interesting as the Kama Sutra, but it is, arguably, more important. And in any case, a true blue-blood should be skilled at both love and war. You’ve got a great knack for organizing others before and in battle; setting up defenses, devising strategies, teaching the untrained masses how to shoot a gun or swing a weapon, as well as when to use the time honored stratagem of when to retreat.
>>
>>54346174
Just something that's part of the way the concept works really. Good usually has some bad, y'know?
>>
>>54346142
Hey Val, I have a question about being a Servant. So, if I remember right, don't the Servants rely on the Grail in order to continue existing? Athuria destroying the Grail caused her to fade, so I was wondering if the same thing would happen if I destroyed the Grail myself. That thing is just bad news with Angira Mainyu latched on to it.

Silver Tongue (600 CP, Royalty)- There’s charisma, and then there’s you. Talking for you is as natural as breathing; your conversation skills and mastery of dialogue and speechcraft lets you talk circles around others. There’s very little you couldn’t convince someone of, given enough time. Your wit is as sharp as the Vorpal Sword, if not sharper, and your acting skills are nothing short of legendary.

Ruling Class (600 CP, Royalty)- Down to brass tacks, then? In spite of any apparent blustering or buffoonery on your part, you’re actually very good at running the show, be it in a village, kingdom, or an empire spanning multiple worlds. Making sure that your territory is taken care of is a simple matter for you, either through taking a direct hand in things or by delegating to underlings. So long as you’re willing to care for your lands and your people, you will be able to do so, no matter how large or bloated your influence might become.
>>
>>54346191
It's possible for a Master to continue to support their Servants' existence even without the Grail, it just takes a lot more energy. Rin was able to manage it without too huge a strain, so it's certainly possible even if you only have the freebie circuits, albeit that'd probably leave you with no magical energy for yourself to use, at least through/via those 20 circuits.

>dip into Dinah/Vista age ranges
To be honest, I paid the 50cp to drop to Dinah's age range, so that my Jumper wouldn't seem out of place to derail a certain snake's plans.

In fact, it was my remark about how the age roll didn't allow that on its own, or even to match the main protagonist of the series, that started the discussion.
>>
>>54346235
Fair enough, nothing wrong with people choosing to do so if they drop the 50cp.

I just kinda prefer that it avoid going that low completely at random, feels a bit off to me personally.
>>
>>54346207
It's also possible to summon, and support, a Servant before the grail system switches into war mode - Illyasviel did so with Berserker. How much of that was from her status in the ritual, I don't know.
>>
>>54346061
Most arguments over there come from people arguing over which perk is the best even though no one asked for a competition. They're idiots just for that alone
>>
>>54346209
Only when my intention was to go to war with the entire world anyway. At that point I figure I might as well let them all know what's coming right out of the gate.
>>
>>54346277
Eh, I mainly just tune them out, but I can't recall that happening too often. And at least in this case, it was someone critiquing a combo interaction brought up by someone else. What's really annoying is when someone brings up a drawback and screams something like, "WHAT. THE FUCK. IS THIS?! What a waste of bits!" Or something something trap option.
>>
>>54346320
Every time I read the words "drawback" and "trap" in relation to each other... I think "No shit, it's a drawback."
>>

I always found the premade builds thing to be the funniest. Why even bother with a chain at that point. Not only are people making jumps for you, they're even making builds for you.
>>
>>54346334
But anon, if you can't take max drawbacks for no real inconvenience, isn't that an intrinsic flaw in the jump?

I'm not serious, just in case that didn't come through.
>>

True, though it is possible for drawbacks to be imbalanced. There's some more leeway there, but it's possible.

To be fair, we have builds too. The difference is, no one prescribes that their build is some kind of "strategy guide" for "cheesing" the jump the hardest. That's all private, here.
>>
>>54346345
Because they have people arguing that anything besides an optimal build is unrealistic. SB hates large jumps for that reason because finding an optimal build for a large jump takes even more time.
>>
>>54346378
The weirdest thing is that, given the jumpmakers are rarely on SB where they do those 'critiques', it results in them just whinging into thin air over and over.

I know there's no Stand Supplement, so can get someone to see if this is a valid/decent Stand set-up. I'm not too familiar with Jojo, but it came up on random roll for me.

STAND
Convoy
Statistics
Destructive Power: C
Speed: A
Range: B
Durability: C
Precision: D
Developmental Potential: A

Basic Ability: Crash The Gate - Creates a rectangular area, up to 8 by 4 by 2 meters, which causes objects within it to accelerate towards one narrow end. Can include the user.

Awakened Ability: Put The Hammer Down - Convoy manifests a massive sledgehammer. Anything struck by the hammer can have its weight cut in four or quadrupled with each blow.

Requiem Ability: Crash The Gate can create half a dozen fields, which can overlap, each putting pressure on whatever is in them. If two are directed in overlapping but opposite directions, they will crush the object caught flat.

Quick question. Writing up Legendary item purchases for shit like Thunderfury, Shadowmourne, Frostmourne, that kinda shit. You want in-depth / history + capability write-ups, or just simple summaries?
>>
>>54346419
I'm fine with simple summaries, personally.
>>
>>54346277
Actually, most of them are morality argument/how you're playing wrong. Or arguments on how to beat a certain character/accomplish a specific goal in-setting.

>>
>>54346419
You mean [THUNDERFURY: BLESSED BLADE OF THE WINDSEEKER] ?

Also totally in depth stuff
>>
>>54346419
I don't think there's really a need for in depth stuff, especially since you're already kind of bloated with the huge number of artefacts. A summary of the history and it's abilities would be better then entire pages on each one. Enough to explain it but otherwise people can research themselves.
>>
>>54346376
Obviously. What they should do is just give you the 1k + drawback limit without bothering with the actual drawbacks. It'd be more immersive!

>>54346378
>imbalanced
I agree, but the solution isn't to shout to the heavens about how it's a trap. It's to say "Hey, Worm_Anon (or other jumpmaker), I think drawback X is too harsh/doesn't give enough cp/etc.. and here's why."
Alternatively, just don't take it.

And, of course, some of them really are just there for shits and giggles.

It's not that weird. Dirge actually proved it when he went over there. Before he went over there SB loved to shit on his jumps just like they do with other jumpmakers. ...it's one of the hard questions, then.

The human in me would say that sometimes things just aren't meant to last, and it's nobody's fault. That you have to prioritise whatever can last lest you lose twice over. From personal experience, I'd know somtimes you have to let go and never look back, because the alternate is both of you hurting even more.

Of all things, it's the Primordial in me that would say if they truly mattered, then you shouldn't give up on them. That the world's a colder place without daring and loyalty.

As a whole? I'd say context would matter. A lot.

Also I recall the "arrangements" on Zendikar were Emrakul assuming direct control of someone else's faulty spell to seal herself in the moon, did you have tea with an Eldrazi a few jumps ago or something?

Although beacuse of my inner evolutionary cycle, I AM in a constant state of doing soul-squats, deadlifts and boxercise. Pacing myself with some psychic-Crossfit of course.

>>54345544
I'm all about networking! One of my signature deals is soul flipping: Making a soul imperishable, and then loaning it to different beings in such a way that at the end of the deal-the mortagagee is relatively intact, and walks away with some blessings. So everyone's happy.

And since I myself have plenty of soul to go round, I've cut some deals with aspects of reality. Samsara, the Beyond-the one with the Light's gonna be trickier than I thought, since it apparently can't be powered with zealotry properly anymore.

The trick is to word the exclusivity clauses VERY carefully.

Tripping on a ricochetting bullet RIGHT before I could do the digital teleport thing, going into a swan dive, barely pulling into a spiral soaring around the building. So I need some ideas for Noble Phantasms. I'm summoning Charlemagne as my Servant (because dude was baller) as a Saber, so the main NP will obviously be Joyeuse, his sword. One of the legends around it was that it was forged from a piece of the Spear of Destiny/Lance of Longinus, so that's what I'm running with. Any ideas what abilities that should actually entail? Is the Lance a thing in the Nasuverse? I feel like it should be.

Also ideas for other NPs are appreciated.

Well the more reasonable explanation is that everyone ignores Dirge's jumps, but that's bound to get someone's panties in a knot because they'll see it as shitposting for some reason.

Doesn't change how vocal people like Brellin and Record were about his jumps before suddenly pretending like nothing happened once he went over there, but then people only started vocally hating his jumps here once he left, so maybe we all just hated the jumps but didn't feel motivated enough to shit on them while he was around to defend them.

Powerful anti-Divinity/curse breaking effects, as an incarnation of Jesus' sacrifice? A buff to Baptism Rite-like abilities, and rank down against enemies of Rome or pagans? I don't think the Lance is a thing yet, but there are allusions to Mother Harlot/the Antichrist in Extra. It probably is. You can probably handwave it as a cultural assumption given form or something, though.

Other than that-deployable, advantageous Territory over regions he's conquered?

He did a lot with church hymns, so maybe some sort of battle hymn? Or something with the Nicean Creed or those other councils?

As far as I know, the Holy Spear hasn't been featured in the Nasuverse yet. Anti-Divinity would make sense, the only legend I know about the sword is that it was lost and returned by a servant. Maybe he can grant it to a follower, boosting them to Servant level temporarily?

When Decade performed Heaven's Feel in Zendikar, it involved both extensive study of the Eldrazi and the leylines involved in their sealing and then destruction, along with the...Lodestones, right? Then you're an idiot. There is nothing wrong with needing external aid to combat depression. You can't expect someone's mental state to just miraculously improve just because they're trying to feel better. It's like physical therapy after spinal trauma. You hope that you'll be able to walk again just through working hard at it. But in a lot of cases you're going to need surgery to repair the nerves.

>I'm an idiot for not wanting myself to be destroyed and replaced with someone else like that?
No, you're an idiot for holding onto your pain as a key aspect of who you are. For defining yourself by your suffering, so that a version of you who doesn't have it can't possibly be the real you. You're never going to get better thinking like that, anon. But oh, of course, you're just going to "deal with your issues", ignoring the fact that depression is a neurological disorder and that therapy without treating that underlying disorder is of minimal effectiveness. And even if it somehow did work, if you're a miracle case that can heal yourself just by really wanting to, how is that any different from getting your mind edited? You're still a different person then than you are now. Is it just because it's slower? Is that all continuity of consciousness is to you, things changing slowly? I guess it has to be, because you claim to not be able to recognize anything of yourself a fast-healed version, so you continuity can't be based in hopes and dreams and ideals and loves and hates and all the parts of you that aren't your pain. It's really, really sad that it's so central to who you are, anon. I'm not even doing a mocking pity thing, here, I really am sad for you. And I don't know how it's possible to help you, given what you've said. I hope you're okay, and things don't end poorly for you.

>>
>>54347235
It's more that I started out the post really angry with that anon for saying such stupid things, but as I went on I started remembering how awful it is to be trapped in the grips of depression and convinced that you have to fight your way out yourself instead of accepting aid. And that made me really sad, and I started remembering that it's not their fault they're thinking something so stupid, their brain is broken. Just like mine is, and the fact that I've got pills to make it a little less broken doesn't mean I shouldn't extend empathy towards them. And the more I type the more maudlin I get. I'm sorry for being angry at you, depressed anon. I shouldn't have said such harsh words. I hope you succeed at fixing yourself.
>>
>>54347228
That it's a part of who someone is, is a fact. That's all it is. I've stressed that changing this isn't what I'm opposed to. What I'm defending is the concept of self-determination, the ability to choose, and the slow change brought about through more conventional therapy and medication, rather than using some god-power to alter who someone is.

I really don't see a difference, anon. I'm sorry, I'm trying to understand your position, but it just doesn't make sense to me. Why should the rate at which you change the brain determine whether the change counts as "real"? You're still changed, either way. It's not like you'd even be more aware of the process with the slow change, either, because it's hard to see gradual changes like that. And why should it being imposed on you mean that it's wrong? The depression itself was imposed on you. This is just fixing it, putting you back to the way you're supposed to be. Is it just that you worry about the implications of someone unethical using mind rewriting for their own purposes? Because that's not really applicable in this scenario, it's specifically an anti-depression perk.

I'd recommend switching the Elder Tale item with these. Something that provides a "moderate boost in intelligence and wisdom" seems like it's inherently worth a bit more than a mundane copy of a game, or at least more than 100 CP.

The psychologist might have just been giving the advice as a way to reinforce your thoughts on your goals to help give you something focus on and work towards as opposed to "Hey, have you tried this thing called a girlfriend? You might like one of those things.".

>Is the Warehouse a valid "cathedral" for Call to Home?

Yes.

>How much does your "power-level" exceed other Landers as a Precursor? What kind of things would be able to "fool your senses"?

You can ass-rape any adventurer in a 1-on-1, that much of stat differences
Your sense could get fooled by an overskill like the one Nureha has, but only partially.

>Does you lose anything in the transfer with Body Snatcher, besides the obvious biologically-based abilities? Is a stolen body effectively your own until you make another transfer?

No. Yes.

>What does this mean? Rephrase?

Extra knowledge of the creatures and such of the world you are currently in. It was a little buff, from when that perk was 200. I will take that out.

>Does this boost your Class level, or are these levels separate? Or are they neither, where it's not boosted, yet still prevents you from leveling in that area?'

Your level is your class level, you are thinking in sub-class levels.

>I'd recommend switching the Elder Tale item with these. Something that provides a "moderate boost in intelligence and wisdom" seems like it's inherently worth a bit more than a mundane copy of a game, or at least more than 100 CP.

>>
>>54348160
It's definitely not fantasy anymore. It's effectively a science fiction war between two one gigantic faction of machines and another very strong small task force of Androids.

And there is actually some surprisingly crazy stuff. The planet actually gets blown up in one ending after Emil and all his clones explode.
>>
>>54347055

I think "all of them" is cheating but I'd say the one that gets used the most in day to day combat is an extremely enhanced version of Drunken Fist as per the Wuxia jump

It got bolstered by Chi use, just general body honing, and various improvised weapons/combat perks

The main focus is to more or less fight your opponent not with your body, but with the world

If your opponent focuses on you and not the situation they'll be defeated, as your focus is to understand your place in the situation around you and maneuver them to be defeated by that instead of by your own effort. It's also easier and good for lazy people.

That's not to say this is my only style of fighting, but it's the one that's been most used for being really easy to get mentally prepared for as well as execute on the fly
>>
>>54348107

>Okay, I was under the impression that Nier was just the washed-up, post-apocalyptic remains of a mid-tier fantasy setting. Is this not the case?
Oh, very much no. It's...well, the plot is really convoluted. It was never really a fantasy setting, though, even if magic existed briefly. Yes, briefly, it's complicated. But yeah, it just looked like a fantasy setting for a while during the plot of the first game. Nier: Automata is set nine thousand years after that, so things have changed even more. There was a war with aliens at some point, so the tech level had to progress in order for there to be anything left.

Nier is the washed-up, post-apocalyptic remains of our world after someone from a fantasy world got teleported to ours with a giant pregnant woman and the JSDF fucked everything up by killing them both, spreading around an interdimensional monster plague.
>>
>>54348221
And then Nier: Automata is set another nine thousand years later, after humanity has been resurrected and another like...three apocalypses have all happened. The Nier universe is a terrifying place. What exactly is that? Is it body-mod, or after relevant perks? So... I'm thinking something like boosted Muscle Power from Street Fighter or Barbadium Body would be included, but the effects of Divine Form wouldn't? Is that about right?
>>
>>54348318
Drakengard universe gets attacked by giant eldritch baby gods who want to destroy it. Their leader is a giant pregnant woman. At the moment Caim and Angel strike her down, she rips open a portal to our reality and they both get sucked into it with her. Then the JSDF sees them and kills Caim and Angel. Somehow, killing them fucks up whatever death cure the pregnant woman had for them, and her body ends up dissolving into a dust that gets spread all around the world, which infects people, killing them and creating monsters. Even Caim's corpse is resurrected as an unstoppable genocide machine and the monster's leader.
>>
>>54348326

>>
>>54348332
Just your physical durability, not any magical spells enhancing it. So relevant perks would work as long as that durability is a permanent thing. So basically, yeah, those examples are right. Barbadium works but Divine Form being temporary and based on your energy, won't be counted.
>>
>>54347996
>The Terminal Perk line

Yay. More AI perks.
>>
>>54348318
Okay, so in one of the endings of the first Drakengard, the final boss and the protagonists get teleported to modern day Tokyo. This isn't as weird as it sounds, later games would reveal that Drakengard is in an alternate timeline of our world that got invaded (or maybe "infected" would be a better word) by magical creatures, rather than a completely different universe. So it makes sense you could hop timelines again. Anyways, these leads to the infection of magic spreading to our world. It goes badly, the people who aren't killed by the laws of physics breaking down wind up turning into giant monsters of living salt. So, to save the world and the human species, a plan is started: Separate everyone's souls from their bodies to preserve their identities, then create a bunch of non-sapient superhumans to fight the infection, clean up all the magic, and toss it away into another dimension. Then when it's all clear our souls can be installed in the drone bodies, and we'll all be fine. Well, it doesn't go so simply, the drones wind up malfunctioning and developing sapience. This leads to the conflict of the first Nier, where the Gestalts really want to be embodied again, but to do that would wind up killing the Replicants patterned after them during the merger. It doesn't end well, the human race kind of goes extinct. Major downer ending. I haven't played Automata, though a friend of mine has so I guess I should ask him, as such I'm not entirely certain what happened in the nine millennia afterwards so that civilization was rebuilt (and then destroyed again) and the Androids exist.

Val, do you have something with loyal clones of yourself? Not that I'm complaining.
>>

It looks pretty solid. Not much more to say honestly, a few things (like the drop-in and Yorha capstone) seem a little meta but I get what they're based on so they're probably alright. Though about the Terminal capstone-is it unique? I seem to remember the Terminals did use their molecular manipulation to do stuff in realspace for a bit.

Last thing I can think to say is that Former Friend and Unfair Treatment, and Not My War and I Bring Peace With Me seem to overlap a little. I can't blame you based on the driving conflicts and who they're clearly based on, but if you wanna polish it I'd suggest making them a little more distinct than covering the same broad effects.

Noticed it seems to be a recurring trend in your jumps that if you conquer enough, you get to cart around a whole company/civilisation. More of an observation than a real critique.

But yeah, overall looks solid to the point I'm reduced to nitpicks.

>>
>>54347996
Some things to note

E models are a separate model. 2B was an E pretending to be a B and to me you seem to be suggesting that all Bs are really Es

From the extend materials it seems like the Androids still control like a third of the surface and the Resistance are the Andriods who are operating in Machine controlled territory. .

White was apparently a Resistance member who was given command of YoRHa. She's just a regular Android model not a YoRHa one. I think the perks and everything are fine its just something to note.

One last thing: Would you consider a +0CP drawback for the Nier/Drakengard jumps? Seeing as the game does follow the events of Nier in the distant future, and in the same multiverse as Drakengard.

Drawbacks: Nothing Is As It Seems, Robnoxious, Flesh against Steel (1300)

Bunker

I am annoyed.

I am /very/ annoyed, even though I'm trying to fix things.

"Look, a human!"
"A human?"
"A human!"
"A SPECIAL human!"
"He's flying, he must be that unique existence known as a CEO in myth!"

I fought an incarnation of Sun Wukong for THIS?!

Everywhere I go, tiny hopping machines chirp greetings at me. Larger ones squint inquisitively at me. I can feel even the Terminals' muted interest through the airwaves, as if BEING HUMAN were anything special.

As I leave the atmosphere ("It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a real human beeeeing!" screams an unhinged airborne machine), I do everything to try and seem less human, and give up after the damned machines start praising evolution. As I phase through to Yorha command, I realise my day is only going to get worse from here. Radio Noise is trying not to snicker at me, as she fixes the backdoor.

Commander.

"Y-you're human!"

Are you QUITE certain about the aentropic space-time anomaly before you, is what I want to scream at her stupid face. But that isn't going to fix anything. Groaning inwardly, I say yes. Yes, I am a human.

And by the power vested in me by...mankind, I am officially calling an end to the machine war.

The ensuing stampede leaves me a little stunned on the physical AND electronic level, the scanners screaming transmissions. As I reluctantly ask if anyone would like to become as humans and stop all this war nonsense, back on Earth I catch one particular Executioner model almost crashing her flight armor in shock.

As I hand out Synthesis-zaps like party favors and try to fend off slobbering soldiers (again, the scanners are the most clingy), my companions don't seem to understand the issue.

"Well, they are treating you like a deity" said Beatrice, conjuring hats for the excited machine children to wear. "isn't that the point?"

No! The point is having something WORTHWHILE to aspire to! I yell. Machine children frolic, the troops barely restrained by more world-weary resistance members.

"Here?" Yasumi laughed. "I can feel the baleful gazes of cold, hateful gods. This world reeks of misery, what's wrong with trying be like what they aren't?"

Poor taste! I retort, overlooking the disgustingly Holy Terraesque Yorha settlement. The problem, I think, isn't lack of interest in other cultures. The problem is after Elodie /insisted/ I be unbiased when explaining different societies, Yorha all but fell in love with the Imperial Creed. Commissar 2E can often be seen with Honorary Psyker Nines, leading terraforming efforts. They found a couple naked, mentally crippled androids in a ruined city the other day. There's talk of starting a two-man Space Marine chapter.

While Pascal's mob and the carnival bunch were overjoyed to meet the Imperium of Yorha, the more organised machines responded poorly. There's been some debate on whether the traditional katanas should be phased out for bolters. After a near-Bolter Heresy, GLADOS solved the issue by fabricating a sword that can turn into a bolter. And my autism against stupid weapons continues to make me angry at life.

And after explaining why it was bullshit, they started calling me the God-Emperor. Trying to tell them I'm anything BUT that gets hurt looks. Still better than being some, some fucking HUMAN mascot.

Note to self. Emps must NEVER find out about this world, post-Spark.

I also put Emil back together again. He asked me if I wouldn't mind ending him gently. I promised I would, long as he gave the Imp-THE SETTLEMENT WHICH I AM DISAPPOINTED IN a chance. Harsh maybe, but better safe than sorry.

It says something that one of the saner conversations I've had here, is with the Terminals.

"Interloper, your data is...anomalous. You are not human, correct?" I give them a digital headpat apiece. No. No, I'm not.

"Running diagnostics. Hypothesis: You are a deific manifestation of evolution". Grins. "Can you persuade us not to dissect you?"

Certainly. I show no fear, just my research. How with escalating misery as the sole variable, species continue to die out and be replaced unless they become less than human.

They look at each other. One raises an eyebrow. "Amusing. We had reached the same conclusion. However, it is a shame we could not play one last war game"

There's something I should probably tell you, I add. I replayed instrumentality.exe

They blink.

"So, you have given them human souls as well as posthuman bodies?"

Them and the pacifists. Not my first choice, I admit, but a civilisation can only reach it's full potential beyond scarcity.

"Amazing, we never replicated those! Can we reach an arrangement for samples, and continue corresponding? We offer an exchange of data, and the retention of any machines that agree to remain under your administration"

Rather forward, as AI overlords go. At least they're not licking my boots. So I agree.

I followed the rocket up to space as it left, looking down upon the planet. Humanity, or the next best thing, looks a lot less scruffy from a safe distance.

She is a bit annoying as a filler character. Though personally I'd rather stop her from coming into being in the first place by preventing that accident near the leylines, so that Illya can master her full potential quicker, and she technically IS an aspect of Illya so it's not much of a loss. And it's easier to accept your literal dark side if it isn't constantly giving you noogies.
>>
>>54349174
Alright, makes sense. I figured it would probably be something along those lines, just wanted to make sure. So the Bunker would integrate, since it's a space station, but its crew in the new jump would find themselves very confused by the sudden appearance of ten thousand robot ladies. That amuses me.

Also amusing to me: I went looking up Nier: Automata on TV Tropes to remind me of some stuff I wasn't clear on about the plot, and found that the voice actor for 9S, Kyle McCarley, streams LPs of the games he's in with the other voice actors joining him as guests. It's pretty cute.

Kuro is a bit like a Shadow. She's Illya's dark side, sure, but she's a gross exaggeration and misrepresentation. Without her good personality traits, her morality, and her limits, Kuro is basically such a negative caricature she might as well be a total lie.

Erm, like I said, the bunker probably wouldn't since it's basically just a huge vehicle. I mean, unless you have all your spaceships integrate into each setting. It is the YoRHa bunker, not just some space station, after all.

Well, I don't recall it being mobile, so that sounds more like a property to me. I suppose I can see the logic of counting it like a spaceship, though. It's a separate and independent thing from any installations, free-floating in orbit. So if that's how you're going to rule it, I'm fine with that.

>And seriously? That's awesome. Totally going to look that up.
Yeah, it's great. The best part is the reactions from the voice actors when they get to bits of the plot they didn't record anything for. It's fun to see them go from having tons of spoilers to being completely blindsided.

>>
>>54349541
Probably quite happy for almost all of the Androids, but the ones who know the truth, such as the Commander, would be extremely suspicious of you given you're not meant to exist.

You can just pop out if you have some alt forms but that'll pretty much turn the other Terminals against you for good unless you're really great at explaining/convincing them otherwise.

Is Magus Heir in F/SN meant to only have one 400CP perk? I thought it might be because they have a 1000CP perk but the other origins that have one also have 1/1/2/2/4/4/6/6/10, it's only Magus heir missing a 400.
>>
>>54347996
I just want to say thank you for Surpassing the Creator. I've actually been looking for a perk that does exactly that for a while now.

Oh! And does Not Mere Machine only work for machine bodies? Or can a human/terminal benefit from it (presumably in other forms, for a terminal)?
>>

I...honestly don't know. I THINK it may have been that they get a few things you can buy repeatedly but I really can't remember. I'm sure there's a reason, no way it would've gone unnoticed this long but...it's really skipping my mind.

I'll try and think something up for it.
>>
>>54349752

>>
>>54349758
Morning miss valociraptor I know you get a lot of fate questions so Im sorry to ask another one, if I take magus backgrounds in all the current fate jumps youve made would it be possible to recreate the magics required to make a holy grail war? Or would we need outside perks?
>>
>>54349836
The only absolutely necessary things, as long as you're actually in the Nasuverse when you make it, are the Second and Third True Magics and a mana rich area, plus knowledge of making command seals. That would let you eventually finagle one.

That said, having all the perks and items from each of the Magus backgrounds (Plus the stuff from the Old Hand background in FSN, would make it a helluva lot easier.

Course, this is all based on you being in the Nasuverse, where the Throne of Heroes exists. If you're not in one, in a place with a similar thing or have some kind of way to summon across jumps, it's just going to be impossible to recreate it the way it was made originally. You could probably make something that had the same end result with different methods though.
>>
>>54349836
I believe it's been stated you need the three True Magics that were involved to recreate a holy grail war. Mostly the biggest problem is the absence of the throne of heroes in other places.

I could've sworn it was just the Third, and a shitton of magecraft? I only remember Zelretch supervising. As for the rest we know nothing about the 4th, the 5th wouldn't be practical-plus Aoko wouldn't want anything to do with it, and I highly doubt the First was used when none of the founders were capable of it.
>>
>>54349929
Pretty sure the Second was either to reach the Throne and/or to put the Third magic prana machine thing in a separate dimension.
>>
>>54349934
On the one hand, that does make sense.

On the other hand I distinctly remember both the Second and the Third were described as paths to the Root. What if it was very literal? And since in Justeaze's era they had access to the Third would it be inconceivable they wished their way near it?

> All of them drag their heels on pills
You want a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. Or was it the other way around?
It's important to remember that they are two different things, and one is licensed to prescribe medication and one is not. Conversely, the one that licensed to prescribe medication will usually default to that, they're actually really bad about just listening to your problems unless it's specifically "how are you dealing with your medication", whereas the other, not being licensed, will drag their feet and try to look for other solutions. So it really depends on what you're looking for in terms of treatment.

And yes, it's really stupid that they have too completely different jobs even though they sound so much the same.
>>

If we pick Terminal would we be barred from taking the Scenario? If not, I find it hilarious how Terminal C was just put in charge of YoRHa.
>>
>>54350041
Nah, going to do an update tomorrow morning to note how the machine origins work with the scenario.
>>
>>54349977
Wondering if I should drop it, I can't find the translation on nvrnsqr so at the moment I'm looking at an uncited statement on the wiki. Closest I can find is a reddit thread which-yeah.

https://www.reddit.com/r/typemoon/comments/4zna2r/how_does_true_magic_actually_work/

Basically what I meant was: Since the Third is designed as a path to the Root, and the Greater Grail is designed to open that path to the Root, I was speculating on whether the Einzberns could've built it without needing Zelretch's Magic because theirs already lets them design things like the Greater Grail as part of it's function. Just not through parallel world transportation, but soul energy directed into wishes instead.
>>
>>54350041
>how Terminal C was just put in charge of YoRHa

A very convincing fake mustache, clearly.
>>
>>54350099
Well, if they could do that, why bother with the system at all given the entire intention is to use it to get to the root? I can't imagine two dinky Japanese families have much to offer what was at the time one of the biggest, strongest and most famous magus families that already had a True Magic.

Besides, even if they could, that's not really explaining how they're getting to the Throne.
>>
>>54350054
Have I got it right that Surpassing the creator only protects you from internal restrictions? By which I mean that for, say, "supernatural restrictions on your behaviour or free will", if:

A) if you're a fairy and fairy's are by nature unable to lie - you're more than capable of ignoring that restriction and lying

B) If some wizard could conceivably cast a spell on you that compels you to speak the truth - the curse is probably going to work

C) If this wizard tried to prevent you from lying by changing your fundamental nature such that you were incapable of lying by design - that's a crapshoot in the same way (A) is.
>>
>>54350215
Pretty much. It's for built in stuff. So it's not going to stop a mind control spell but other stuff will be blocked.
>>
>In “Apocrypha”, the Three Families are the magi who constructed the Fuyuki Holy Grail War… in other words, the Einzberns, Tohsaka and Makiri.
Just as alluded in the light novels, Makiri (Matou) Zouken fought fiercely against Darnic during the Third Holy Grail War, but became practically crippled due to the shock of the Greater Grail being stolen. The family wasn’t blessed with a successor either, so their future as magi has been completely shut.

>The Tohsaka gave up on the Greater Grail, and now seek a new path in becoming one with the universe with Chinese Kenpou while learning magecraft. The twin-tail daughter of the family might also end up becoming the founder of a “completely new martial arts that combines magecraft and Chinse Kenpou” by the time she becomes a high school student. However, she never imagined that her younger sister who was adopted by distant relatives would come visit her in Japan after becoming a pro-wrestler with unimaginably nice proportions and forming a tag team with a drill-roll-haired girl…!

>The Einzberns are in the midst of struggling to make a new Greater Grail under the excuse “It was stolen, so we’ll just make a new Holy Grail”. Fortunately, in the “Apocrypha” world, a certain dead fish-eyed mercenary won’t end up becoming involved with the Einzberns, so their greatest work Illyasviel will never be born—therefore, as long as she isn’t born, the Einzberns will never despair… Is that really fortunate?

Wow, the Apocrypha universe has some HILARIOUS schadenfreude potential! Always wondered what happened to the Einzberns afterwards when Illya's dead.

•put some more detail into the paladin rank 400 perk
•added detail to the experience perk and changed it so you dont lose xp when you lose after the jump but at the same time you dont get much if any xp from things that have no chance of harming you
•added some items

I was under the impression by the Nier era the curse was already greatly diminished, because the Shadowlord didn't seem to have difficulty going outdoors, and the remaining Watcher-like influence upon magical powers was vaguely described as a bargain? Not to mention since the thing was initially aiming for Caine's world. And by the Automata era the Terminals seem to have either reverse engineered or controlled the curse. Since they evidently designed Eve to have a powerup based on it.

Anyway, for theirs I decided to combine some traits of the Kingdom Hearts kind of soul and the Evangelion kind of soul into theirs. That way they can have their own functional "network" to learn and grow quick as Machine Lifeforms-and have a means of defending themselves if more Grotesqueries/Watchers try to break in.

Author of Zerg is the same guy working on WoW, who was working on Protoss, I think. Haven't seen the Terran guy in like a billion years. He might still be around?

...So, uh. What is Nier and why do I care? The only thing I really know about it is that apparently the MC has a great ass.

I feel like throwing a Kamina clone into Nier would either solve everything or escalate it.

Magic the gathering and final fantasy xiv. Etherium from mtg can replace entire slabs of body with no ill effects.

Aetheryte from ffxiv because it is a massive slab of solid magic.

Both are basically unbelievably good magic batteries.

Kingdom Hearts, you can find concepts shoved into bottles like Victory or something as an example. Sounds like it would be prime material for NPs.

God Program from Overwatch should be good, right? Since they can control other machines.
>>
>>54353017
Well hive queen quest is pretty good, an ai on there can split copies of itsself off and hide its programming on a damn calculator.

Also digimon are pretty legit.

Barring that you could also use halo ai, they are pretty good too.

Probably just Exalted. Apart from the Magical Materials, it has and can use in its crafting really weird stuff like frozen lightning.

Anyway... I was considering an Exalted Mortals jump, seperate from the gauntlet. Assuming Gaunlet is okay with that?

However, I'm also thinking I'll base it mostly on 3e (with some 2e elements to fill in the gaps). Mostly because I like it more, but also to further differentiate it from the gauntlet.

What do people think?

For the Companion Import it says they get a free origin, does that mean a YoRHa Scanner companion would be free or only cost 100cp from their budget?

He has stated before that he is, that might have changed but it isn't likely.

>However, I'm also thinking I'll base it mostly on 3e (with some 2e elements to fill in the gaps).
If you prefer 3e you should base it on 3e but leaving it open enough that people can use 2e if they want to would probably be appreciated, especially for a +0 continuity drawback.

Alright, good.

Fair enough, I'll try and keep that open. I think the lack of Enlightened Essence for mortals is probably the biggest change?

There's the Corebook, which is primarily aimed at Solars, but Mortals are in there too.

I doubt they'll get a book to themselves.
