Seeing as people seem to have problems with how shite artillery is in this edition, but many also don't want to go back to templates of rape I think I've come up with a compromise.

How about an artillery weapon does 1 hit per model in a unit (To a cap suitable to the caliber of gun, eg. 5 for mortars, 10 for basilisk 20 for some super heavy artillery gun.) Then, you roll to hit on each of those at a BS that is worse than the standard for the faction (This represents the fact that artillery isn't the most accurate thing in the world, especially indirect fire).

This way, artillery guns aren't masters of rape against single targets (Which makes no sense) but are also not crap at killing hordes, which is pretty much their purpose.

I'm working on a homebrew to implement "alternating activations" in 40k, since 8e is now "igougo, except in the fight phase". Still working on tweaking/streamlining it. Looking for ideas/feedback either way.

"Move" is more for reckless charges/repositioning. I'm thinking of making the 3" move "only for melee attacks", with being able to fire pistols/assault weapons at a unit you're engaged in melee with (so Breachers/Psychodakkablastas/etc).

Alternately, I might just streamline it so you choose a "move stance" (advance, optionally reckless or cautious), with the option to make an attack action anytime during your move (only one ranged attack action per turn though).

Thoughts one way or another?

Started painting my 20 poxwalkers today.

Primed them with Corax white first. Then shaded their skin with athonian camoshade. Then did the horns/bone with Zandri Dust.

Now I'm adding colour to clothes. Some mournfang brown, celestra grey, averland sunset, macragge blue and screamer pink. Any other ideas for clothes etc? Also how can I go over mistakes on the skin since it was shader over white, not as simple as going over a base paint.

Power weapons are 4 points and the SS will always be the last girl to die if you want. That's an excellent purchase. And it's not so much "wanting to melee", melee will fucking happen to you whether you like it or not in 8th. Particularly if you have to engage in close to mid-range firefights as Sisters generally do. Power armor means Sisters aren't pure fodder that you always want to write off, so that 4 point power weapon goes a long way towards giving the squad a little extra teeth. With acts of faith you can get a surprising amount of work done when you need to.

Anyone play any games today or over the weekend?

I had a 1500 point game where I was Guard with Ministorum against Chaos. We played that mission where you have all the secondary objectives and you each have 1 objective in your deployment zone. The game ended on turn 5 and I lost by 1 point since he got first blood, we both had linebreaker and both held our own objectives.

Had the game continued I probably would have tabled him or gotten close. That also happened in my previous 500 point game. Very close to tabling, but lost by a point because it ended on turn 5. Highlight of the game was my mortar squad rolling 17 shots and killing no Chaos Marines, then the next turn rolling up 4 shots and killing 3 Chaos Marines.

Other things I learned. Manticores are great, always have some Scions or Rough Riders for objectives and mobility, Bullgryn are great and Pask is great except for that one turn where I rolled a bunch of 1s for hitting and wounding a Chaos Fortification. He didn't even have to make a save. BS2+ on all guns, shooting at a giant stationary building, didn't come close to touching it.
