I'm planning on a busty barbarian orc chick. If the game allows 3pp, i'll probably go with a ZS warder. If not, Invulnerable Rager Barbarian.

I've NEVER played a green of either type before. I've got this weird complex about the creatures. I just hate them, even though they're fictional. In my very first game I DMed they were mostly extinct after the civilized people's waged several quasi-crusades DM to destroy them as a people.
The surviving orc-blooded were like sub-gypsy vagabonds, barely scraping by at the end of their race's lifespan.
I don't know why I hate them so much. It isn't logical, but I do.

Two ways.

Catfolk are alien. they don't think like humans or elves, they think like catfolk. Tieflings think like their parent culture, but are influenced by their nature, which can be very obvious or subtle, but it is clearly ~present~.

The second way is their movements. A Rakshasa spawn tiefling's joints work ~differently~ than huamns do. Catfolk are naturally graceful, but more importantly their grace is very natural and typical of sleek predators. Rakshasa spawn do not move like normal creatures. They can be extremely graceful....but their grace is inhuman and unnatural, the grace of something with joints that are not designed like their parental races are.

Yes, that's what I said. The problem with the WotR campaign traits is that they all give bonuses that are equivalent of a feat, sometimes two, which means your character ends up getting shoehorned into a backstory for mechanical benefits.

And the benefits ARE good. Extremely good even. But I'm more concerned about my character's personality and history than I am with mechanical effectiveness, even if I'm rightly concerned with mechanical optimization.

It's a wilderness exploration / dungeoncrawling game, so I'm looking for characters optimized purely for survivability.

I'm incredibly torn. I'm throwing around three concepts in my head, for the potential Linnorm game that I may apply for if it comes up.

First is a Fetchling Bloodrager with the Shadow Bloodline, taking Skill Focus (Stealth) and then two Eldritch Heritage feats into the Shadow Sorcerer Bloodline. If the GM would let me progress in unarmed like a monk, I'll go Unarmed, but either way, I'm going to go for a high-dex Bloodrager, possibly a Blood Conduit if the DM would let me go monkshit over it all. Otherwise I may aim for something with reach and/or snares and stuff, like whips. Will get a form of HiPS with limited teleport at lvl 11, which could be funny for a bloodrager.

The second concept I'm considering is an orc Aasimar bloodrager, Angelkin, with the Celestial Bloodline, preferably with both the Urban Bloodrager and Steelblooded archetypes, but since they conflict slightly, I could end up having to pick. A paladinesque barbarian; as an Urban Bloodrager, you get access to the Magus spell list, and I was going to ask for the Inquisitor and/or Paladin instead.

The last one is an (half-)orc or human ranger with the racial that gives +2 to companion ability scores, taking the skirmisher, horse lord and wild hunter archetypes, and dipping into Mammoth Rider asap, going to turn my companion huge.

Which sounds the most interesting?

How does size increases actually work with, specifically animal companions?

When a companion reaches level 7 they get that bonus of about 8 STR and stuff, is that a size bonus or some other bonus? Same goes for spells like Animal Growth that grants a size bonus to 8+ strength, would this stack with the level 7 progression and such?

Then there's archetypes like Mammoth Rider that increases your companions size to Huge and also grants a +2 bonus to str. What kind of bonus is this?

Sorry for a lot of questions, but this is really confusing to me as a new player.

If a bonus is "unlisted", it stacks with everything. It's a modification of the base creature, so to say. So ifit doesn't say morale bonus, inherent bonus, racial bonus, size bonus, etc., it's easier to think of it as a modifier, not a bonus, imho.

Okay, so far the Phantasms look super good for providing soft cover and denying Line of Sight against casters. Further, it seems kinda odd that there are no means of being able to make a check to tell the real person from the phantoms. You'd be surprised. Area denial, distraction, LoS/LoE denial, and Flanking are all potent bonuses, plus your Shatter abilityand your different Artes are all pretty interesting ways to mix things up. Granted, its still just +2 damage, so it probably isn't a big deal, but you shouldn't undersell the Phantasms as they are.

I know the phantasms are strong, but i feel without the damage boost people won't use them as I envision, and i like it cause it feels like they attack -with- you.

the reason I'm limiting them to in combat is because I don't have people just running into combat with a full army of phantasms, it should be a ramping up thing.

I'm glad you're liking the mixing things up, what do you think about the 'fast artes' ability, thats kind of my keystone other than the phantasms

That's what it looks like to me too. I'm not going to lie, obviously I put in my fair share of effort for my own app so it's a bit of a shame I'm not getting in. But on the other hand, there was no way I was making it to one of those days and I had already moved on after I realized I wasn't getting in so it'd be really inconvenient to play.

Honesty, fast artes is pretty powerful, but considering the low BAB and the level needed, it seems okay.

Perhaps you could make a "focus ans spend Ether to manifest a phantom outside of combat for X amount of time" Mystic Arte at a high level

Also, I'm finding it hard to find, but where does it describe what level your allowed to take what level Artes? Because its a tad unclear the difference between different Artes and their levels.

I'm not sure yet on that, because I'm not sure the number of artes known at each level yet, its unfinished in that regard, but maybe close to Sorcerer progression on level you can utilize artes, if not number known
