Grimur Nordheim, the Fiend Eater

Quite literally a Barbarian with the cannibal archetype who hunts down and eats fiends. Going to give him either Eldritch Heritage for abyssal blood, or blood rager + eldritch heritage if gestalted. The character's entire story revolves around being a weird cultural exorcist who hunts down and devours demons before they can hurt the population they're near. He'd be originally from LotLK, but travel in search of demons. At this point the strongest one he'd have taken down what ever his level is +2 CR that he killed and ate due to a lucky break.

How do you think Vampires will work in Starfinder? I'd like to imagine a something akin to Daybreaker/Vampire Hunter D with Vampires ruling over a planet or station clouded in eternal night and having a somewhat functioning society. My character who was just retired because we reached the conclusion of the campaign is a dad. He now travels the world with his hired mage fishing things while his youngest daughter is riding the skies with her fey boyfriend and the oldest daughter was shoo'd off with a scholar (Who is her boss and bodyguard at the same time) because evil brains want to invade her mouth and take over her body.

The second one had a name, but that shit just WAS NOT interesting. She didn't really have a quest worth a damn. She just wanted to cash in on some fucking ancient booty call or some shit? Weak.

But this new shit? This is fucking inspired. People get hung-up on the Basketball thing, and assume it's a joke, but he's actually got coherent goals that are simultaneous grand (inspire and fulfill the nation and ultimately the world) and imminently attainable (it's a damn sport you can organize and fund; no need for crazy love revolutions or some shit, just combining words to get it out there, money to put it together, and talent to play it, and you've begun changing the world.)

It's the perfect fusion of fun and humor, a genuine passion to make the world a better place, loads of ripe opportunities to interact with other characters, and a courageous spirit that can inspire people.

I actually agree on all counts, that's why I changed over each time. Takashi is my favorite of the three, Aurelia was cute and could have been fun personally, but was ultimately kind of uncompelling, both mechanically to me and to an overall story. Ryoko while being mechanically interesting to me, just straight up didn't fit.

Takashi fufills both ends better for me, Mechanically he was fun to make (even if I'm personally convinced Noetic Mystic is currently trash, its flavorful), and his goals fit the campaign and will make him fun to play

Depends on what you're trying to do. Arcane and Sylvan are best for overall utility, but that doesn't mean very much for a Sorcerer, who prefers specialization. Draconic is decent for blasting, and Orc is also decent at blasting while also good for those weird STR-sorcerers; combining them with Crossblood is fantastic however, seeing as their blasting-damage-bonus stacks. Shapeshifter (recently released in Heroes of the Feywild) is also surprisingly-good for Transmutation specialists.

I create them in proportion to their importance. There's always a barkeep, sure, but he doesn't need to have any more detail than being a gruff guy if his only importance is to hand someone a drink. Think of your own life. How long are you going to remember the face of a guy who handed you a drink? A few minutes maybe. Sure, he might be a wonderful guy with a rich set of hobbies and interests, but to you, he's a guy who handed you a drink. The bartender is a nameless NPC in your story.

So, think of it like a story. The reader only has so much attention span. Use it wisely on the things they care about. Escalate from there - if the bartender is going to flirt with someone, now his appearance matters. If the party is going to fight the town guard, now their armor matters. And so on.

It kinda sucks. You lose some pretty powerful immunities in return for being a very cute rate kinda healer who isn't really good at healing or protecting others, since the immunizes only work before the person contracts disease or is poisoned, and you become un-immune if you're injured at all.

You might as well play a cleric and actually be able to heal people, or a warpriest and hit people and heal them.

I play an Undead Lord Cleric of Urgathoea in a game of Vengeance that is basically a hyperactive 12-year old in demeanor, his entire village (and his brother who is his free Skeleton companion form the class) died to some crazy disease and none of the good aligned clerics could do anything to stop it, until an old Ugathoean Cleric came and took my guy out of there as he was the only one that seemed to be immune to the disease, teaching him her ways.

His outlook is that life is short, undeath is a useful tool to achieving your goals even after you've died, and the stuffy jerks following those good-aligned gods have their heads wedged so far up their butts that they never bother to stop and smell the roses or do what it takes to get the job done. He's the kind of guy who would have an eating contest with you if you're nice, but will raise your corpse to serve his needs if you've pissed him off.

I think the same, but I dunno, maybe it's the idea of having indirect contact with a deity that makes me worry about it. Or maybe it's because I couldn't think of too many subtle hints that the tiefling with Pass For Human isn't actually human but is a tiefling, without making it where the character should logically know they're a tiefling by now (part of the character's deal is that he never found out his dad was a tiefling, so because he has Pass For Human, he thinks he's just a normal human).

Maybe I'm just fretting over nothing, I dunno. I suppose I'll know for sure in a few weeks when players are picked.

Its honestly one of the best npcs. Like, if I was a PC in ensoulment I would he looking forward to a fun, lowstakes pacing session where we ran into him and needed to shoot hoops for some convulted reason. Frankly, Im surprised we haven't seen more of these "one shot gimick episode" type characters .

The original soulknife was bloody crap. It was really, really shitty.

This has changed.

Their utility and versatility has greatly improved with the Augmented line of blade skills, offering them shit from telepathy to telekinetic jump platforms.

Their newer archetypes are spectacular: Augmented Blades are decent, Brutality Blades are basically soulknife berserkers whose rage also buffs their lightsaber, Psychic Armories are top-class ranged-melee battlefield destroyers (all the power of melee, from afar), and the Living Legend transforms the class into a sort of high-class mimic capable of running backup for most roles and specializing into a slightly-less-powerful version of one of the specialists (like, say, rogues).

Warsouls add path of war initiating and all that entails, and free gifted blade progression is now to be considered as standard (so you keep your psi-strike)
