I've got a fuckload of orders, more heavy weapons than you can throw a rock at, fuckloads of bodies and loads of power weapons so you know if you charge any of my guys you'll get counter charged by at least 3-5 power weapons.

Guy who wanted to buy the primaris half of the starter kit dropped out, I realised the DG rules are in the Chaos index and that I can't use my converted termies, raptors or bikers with DG.

So now I'm just getting auxiliary bits.

tryna decide between deathguard, eldar (probably ynnari), and tau (battle suit heavy) mostly for modeling opportunities. Leaning towards ynnari eldar because auction economy stuff always seems really strong and fun to play with (maybe not against tho) in turn based games. Thoughts? Im picking based on what I like building but I'd really like to go to tournaments with my friends and at least have a vague chance in hell to hover around middle tables.

7th ed was just a patch to fix a broken game, it was almost the exact same game with a couple of rule changes. 8E is like an entirely new game. Not necessarily saying it will turn out good, but they're clearly different and it's obvious you've never even looked at 6E if you think the difference between 8E and 7E is no greater than the difference between 7E and 6E.

How are assassins shaping up to be? I love my culexus after getting it from splitting the assassinorum set with my friends and want to know what the thoughts on it are for 8th.

Played my first game of 8th today. Store had the books so a mate and I worked out lists, my Orks vs his Eldar.

- Warboss with Power Klaw
- Weirdboy
- Painboy
- 2 x 30 Boyz + Nob with PK
- 30 Grots
- Runtherd
- 15 Tankbustas, 2 bomb squigs, 3 Rokkit Pistols
- Nob with WAAAGH banner
- Morkanaut with KFF

We had initially wanted to just play 1000 but were both surprised at how quickly points added up. We settled on 1500.

Game was easy enough to follow. One big standout was Smite; when we realized that you could cast it at units locked in close combat it became devestating. CPs were also important; we both used 6 exclusively on rerolls during the course of the game.

I focused too much on trying to down his Wraithknight with my Tankbustas, which got chewed up and destroyed afterwards by Wraith units with swords, which co-incidently can chop through a LOT of boyz. In the end he took a very narrow victory.

The biggest standout issue for me was that my characters, which provide buffs to nearby units, kept getting left behind when my Boyz charged in. This was because the characters would typically be hanging back a bit to avoid being targeted, but that meant they often couldn't make the charge in alongside the guys they're meant to be buffing. Was quite odd. Also, Boyz are great at bullying units (they chewed up scatterbikes no problem) but against Wraithblades they really struggled.

Oh, and Grots are surprisingly dangerous in large numbers.

Weirdboyz can give a whole unit a perfect deepstrike at 9'' away from any enemy unit that you can shoot or charge out of.

I don't know the range on Burnaboyz, but I'm pretty confident a mob of 30 or so normal Boyz would enjoy the assistance in closing the distance. Plus ere we go lets you reroll the whole charge range now.

Too early to say. Having a Boss for WAAAGH was really good. I really was surprised at the Grots, but if you take more than 20, they all get +1 to hit for both melee and shooting, so they're hitting on 3's. Plus a Runtherd nearby means they'll never suffer too badly from Battleshock because he just eats D3 of them and they pass.

Blitzbomba looks really good and I'd love to try it out. Morkanaut was better than before seeing as it made it to turn 3 before falling over when his Wraithknight on 4 wounds left finally stomped it in melee, but overall I wasn't completely impressed with it. KFF was nice but I rolled horribly.

Here's my thinking on Boyz: they're buff units. They can certainly do damage, but think of them more as giant morale boosters for your specialists. MANZ I feel will still be a crucial part of the army for hitting power; running them alongside Boyz for that sweet Leadership 30 is preferable I feel.

The Crusade is ending, its been 102 years since Gathering Storm. Guilliman's pretty much secured the entire Imperium already, and intends to switch to defensive now because the enemy's been dealt with and his only remaining concern is patching up the Warp.

He's got Cawl making new, better Pylons to use, he's not big on killing people who disagree with him or burning heretics. He also thinks that they should try to help people with Warp Maladies and only kill them as a truly final resort. The people of Ultramar, with all its Warp Plagues going on right now, consider the difference between the Emperor's Mercy and Roboute's mercy to be that Roboute actually tries to save them. He's got a giant orbital station Hospital they get quarantined on whilst they try to help them.

Cawl wants G-Man's permission to take over Mars, Ventris thinks some Xenos are more human than some humans and expresses the fact that he's amazed there are Xenos who treat humans honourably when all they do is hate them. Primars kick Heretic Astartes Ass. Hard. Funniest bit is when a lone Iron Warrior charges a Grav Raider with a Melta Bomb and it literally just squashes him flat so that there's a pancake indent of him in the ground.

Oh and Guilliman did communicate with the Emperor, but it was like a random and incoherent spike of psychic energy. Also he hates the Soul Syphon and is gonna kick Mortarion's ass on Pandemor nxt.

Quite a lot, Cato and Marneus are in it, they are defs still there, and in more important positions of command than any Primars. Primaris seem to pull off more of the grunt work, and they are cocky as hell. Of course its mostly deserved since, like Marines in fluff, they tend to just cream their opponents completely.

- During the darkest hour, when all communication where cut, multiple sightings of the Legion of the Damned, (Baal, Armageddon...and hundreds more planets)
- Indomitus Crusade: Lots of different strike forces, Lead by Guilliman. Imperial Fists are mentioned.

Guilliman's thinking about Aeldari, who he's kinda partial now. The opening makes no bones about it Guilliman is the saviour of the Imperium post-Siege of Terra (the opening is his fight with Fulgrim which took him out) and none of the other Primarchs are near as important as him.

As he lies, passing out, he literally thinks to himself that, with him gone, what would Russ do? What would the Khan do?

Also very critical of daddy now. Still respects him a lot, but the book makes clear G-Man does not think the Emperor was an infallible perfect being always in the right.

At the very end, when he's talking wtih this preist character he's had a back-and-forth with over the whole novel, to console him he says;

The Emperor loves us all, he lied.

ADB MoM lore strikes again. I am glad we got further confirmation that the Emperor doesn't view the primarch as his sons. It makes the final fight between Horus and Emperor more entertaining knowing that the Emperor won't hold back.

Honestly I think its something a lot of fans are just gonna have to come to accept. GW's canon is that the Emperor made some pretty big mistakes.

Also the book doesn't really delve into saying he didn't care for the Primarchs specifically. Although Custodes are revealed to pretty much consider humans to be insects.

Also Guilliman's been appointed Regent of Terra, that's why Custodes obey him. Its made clear they wouldn't obey him for being a Primarch, but they do listen cause he's now Regent.
