Sex Edition
How does your character fulfill the primal urge?
What fetishes do they have?
>>
>>53571955
I'm currently thinking about making an ex-bunruku puppet, so she has absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. Probably a bit hard to enjoy it after that experience. I suppose her sexual deviancy is celibacy.

Any ideas on what qualities/augmentations I should give her?
>>
>>53572174
Huge boobs and wide, soft hips.

Body built for sex and arousal being used for gratuitous murder.
>>
>>53572174
what kind of character do you want to make?
>>
>>53572174
>I'm currently thinking about making an ex-bunruku puppet, so she has absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. Probably a bit hard to enjoy it after that experience.
Dead Emotion: Libido. Working day in, day out, with a jacked up artificial libido will burn something out of you, sure.
>>
>>53572189
Not necessarily the only body type you can go for with a bunraku.
Mine was modelled to be a loli, after all.
>>
>>53571955
My character abused waifu BTLs to the point he can no longer feel romantic or physical attraction to 3d pigs.

He's not a happy person.
>>
>>53572746
That's some Tharan Cedrax-tier AI hologirl-need you've got going there.
>>
>>53571955
Character is a repressed homosexual from the Russian police so it's always great to have the GM describe female NPCs just for him to go "Heh" and stick with the more male-looking female NPCs.

That orc butt hmm hmm.
>>
>>53572476
A decker. She already has headware, what's a few more bits?

I would make her a face instead, but I find it hard to resist making a mage if I'm bumping charisma.
>>
>>53555163
Gonna do this, plus a 30% upcharge in nuyen and Essence and to allow it to transform from a really fucking big arm (character is a troll) to a really fucking Big O arm (shield, no piston, implanted shotgun). Functions as an Extreme Cyberweapon with a few caveats: is effectively a pile bunker, uses shotgun blanks to fire, six shot removable cylinder is stored on the character's person and inserted after transformation, secondary function uses standard shotgun rounds and counts as a Roomsweeper. Only functions while transformed, borderline impossible to conceal while transformed, only slightly sneakier while in the default state.

Not sure how the shield will work, probably just going to have it provide extra armor to the arm (always) and chest (while deployed). It's probably OP, but it's cool and will make the players happy. It also lets me really fuck with them later since a massive troll with a giant robot arm is pretty unique and memorable.

Opinions?
>>
>>53571955
He has a wife that is way too good for him. She's a para-zoologist and he's an ex-drug smuggler turned prison hitman who got released because his brother pulled strings. He's fairly certain that he's a tax write off, and only sees her a handful of times a year. He really doesn't know if it's loveless or not.
>>
>>53573714

I hate it, but I'm a jaded bitter fuck so what do I know?
>>
>>53573714
Does the guy have to have the shield and the piston-fist in the same arm? Seems like it would be easier to do it as two limbs - one with lots of extra armour to be the shield, and one with the Extreme cyber-weapon.

Just thinking of the practicality of it in terms of SR technology - we don't have hammerspace, and he may want some capacity in the limb for boosting the stats/etc. Plus it will allow him to punch and shield at the same time, and if he wants to do melee he'll need the armour.

Side note, the rules don't work well for armouring specific body parts. You might say something like "it grants an additional box to the Physical Monitor in addition to the cyberlimb bonus box, and when deployed it adds +4 armour as per the Ares Briefcase Shield."
>>
>>53573714
Have the Shotgun be a retooled Grenade Launcher. The Cyberarm itself is a prototype Military and Law Enforcement Cyberlimb designed for Riots and Street Fighting.

Just have the Shield act as the +3 Armor and when its deployed it also acts a shield for portable cover. The Arm can't deploy the shield and ready the Shotgun at the same time.
>>
>>53571955
>How does your character fulfill the primal urge?

Mostly the same as >>53572746 except he's more or less okay with himself. He's had sex with one physical woman in his life and it was pretty disappointing compared to the brain-melting neural stimulation of running Hotsim with almost all the add-ons and doodads in cybercombat against corporate Black IC.
>>
>>53574514
>>53574489
It's designed to emulate the Big O and it's finishing attack. When stowed, it'll be kinda ungainly and have massive forearms. It's always obviously a weapon. It's like open carrying an Uzi: legal (provided you have your paperwork and such in order) but makes people uncomfortable and probably scared.

All I understand is that it can be any kind of usable object in the matrix but that seems too simple.

>>53574911
I get that. I mean more that at a certain point you should consider compromising for the sake of the rules of SR, unless you want to write up a hit location chart and watch your player walk grinning into a fight, start slowly across a room (trolls having shit speed, better have skates or skimmers) and get shot to death. while he tries to decide whether he wants a shield, a piston-fist or a shotgun.

>>53574972
10/10
>>
>>53575038
I thought SR5 did a good job of explaining it. An icon is a symbol of any matrix object which generally depicts its roll or function. To prevent visual clutter most icons are folded into PANs and WANs, except for dangerous things like firearms.

They're like floating AR pogs that show off that someone owns the latest line of Mortimer of London suit and coat.
>>
>>53571955
>And never, ever fuck a dragon
I don't think you know where you are, OP.
>>

Real women are filthy disease-ridden pig whores, why have that when you've got a waifu.
>>
>>53574972

Nice.

Working on a hack of Anarchy to remove the overly narrative focused bits while still keeping the general streamlining. My players are chomping at the bit to start the game but I'd rather have the system and a few runs under my belt before junping in.
>>
Would there be any big negatives to changing some of the Matrix actions from a Complex action to Simple actions
>>
>>53571955
>How does your character fulfil the primal urge?
She works at a 'full service' maid cafe when not running, and meets party members for hookups between runs.

>What fetishes do they have?
Exhibitionism, kemonomimi, big troll dick, lolis, and molesting innocent virgins to get them hooked on fluffy tail.
>>
>>53578052
Depends which actions you want to change.
The mark gain actions (hack on the fly/bruteforce) would probably break it, since you can get marks in half the time then.
Changing control device [complex] to a simple action is obviously broken.

All the other matrix actions … I'd leave it the way it is. Then again: What do I know, I'm still a newbie to shadowrun GMing.
>>
Elves have a second set of ovaries that only open when in the presence of orks. It's true, I saw it on the matrix.
>>
>>53578052
Matrix PER should already be a simple action and so should any of the non-illegal (using sleaze/attack) actions honestly because they're all relatively benign

If I can command my agent/sprite to do something in a simple why can't I do it in a simple?
>>
>>53578052
Changing the mark placing skills can be handy because it turns some of the routine hacking actions into one action phase ordeals. Currently I have it set at my table that matrix actions with some exceptions (including Control Device) are simple actions. It hasn't changed much yet because we aren't matrix heavy.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was a lot more prevalent too.
Dunno if there is any way to inject magic into pornography, I guess that would be a thing too.
Adepts specializing in dick fu

Dunno. With biosculpting what it is I could see a flourishing market for look alike celebrity porn.I imagine Bunraku stuff is just the most extreme way people indulge in that particular fetish.

And judging by the way porn developed irl from the 80s till now I'd expect things just to get more extreme in general.
The kind of porn that makes you go 'why?', while you absentmindedly stroke your dick, before deleting it in shame after you've finished.
>>
>>53580837
>Dunno if there is any way to inject magic into pornography

Control Emotions/Thoughts/Actions have (hopefully consenting) chicks and dudes sign up to be hypnotised. Maybe some sort of cam show where viewers can relay instructions to the magician.
Levitation and magic hands for bondage and groping.
Invisible lovers, maybe even some sort of game where the chick has to guess who's fucking here or run of the mill public play.
Forced orgasm with the titular spell.
Mass animate object, like Sorcerer's Apprentice but with fucking.
Petrify and turn to goo for some really niche fetishes.

Then there's summoning. Run of the mill spirits may not be fans but there might be some curious free spirits out there.
Beast spirits for some technically legal zoophilia with really exotic "animals."
Slippery water spirits.
Plant spirits for Evil Dead fans.
Not to forget possession and all that entails.
>>
>>53580013
Pornoware. Like a cyberarm with an onahole instead of a hand, or biowared dicks and vaginas.
Rare meta-variants would be sought after. Hot centaur-on-elf action!
Vampires are a common theme in cheap BTL simporn.

Okay /srg/ I have a situation and I'd like to get some advice
>GM 4e
>Players are a Druid Mage, Vory Sammy and Copperfield-Expy Face
>playing in the AGS
>Run is to check out some villa, find out the security, document it and also take some data from an internal server
>I previously established that in the last ~2 months a lot of foci were stolen, after a lot of them found their way to their fixer and he asked the druid to assense them. They were foci of various traditions, including a high force black magic focus
>Druid asks whether that villa is one of the victims, I say yes
>She Astrally Projects, flies to it, wants to find out if the owner is a black magician
>I describe it being warded with multiple spirits flying around, some further away, some closer to it
>she sneaks to one of the outer ones, stays undetected, assenses it and sees that the summoner was most likely Chaos Mage
>She wants to assense one of the closer ones
>she gets one hit
>the spirit gets 5
>Spirit attacks her, she wants to kill it to prevent the summoner to know that shit
>summons her own spirit
>It gets fucking rekt
>spirit goes first, attacks her, she barely manages to get away
>but now the spirit (and the summoner) know her astral signature

My question is: Will they always try to trace them back immediately, or could they say
>"well, they didn't start shit and we are just here for one event. We'll just tell the rest of security to be cautious of astral stuff for a while"
?
>>
>>53582963
Simple, are they hired security or hired security + wetwork?

That's all there is to it. If they're just there to make people fuck off, then no. If their job is to make people fuck off and if they don't, kill them and everybody they were with, then yeah, probably.

Remember, if something legal gets stolen, shit gets reported to Lone Star or any other police force and then they deal with it. If it's illegal or secretive, then you'll start seeing hit squads and HTR.
>>
Remind me, what is the Sensor Rating for in a Drone? It serves as limit to tests regarding it's perception, and that's it, right?
>>
>>53571955
>How does your character fulfill the primal urge?
His waifu. He's not chaste by any sense of the word, but he's got a real traditional sense of relationships, something odd on a world like that, bit he accepts he's an odd duck in that regard
>What fetishes do they have?
Large tits, tall women (little bit of my magical realm) gentle femdom, foodplay (the characters stuff which I don't care much for RL)

But it doesn't get touched on much in the sessions, since my character is reluctant to speak much on the subject due to his old school manners involving relationships
>>
>>53583274
ok that's reassuring
and no, it's not that the players had stolen anything
Basically the situation is this:
>1.5 months ago someone broke into that house and stole some stuff, including some foci
>owner of the villa called the Star, they investigated it
>this week the druid was called to assense some foci that the fixer had gotten
>currently there is some spring festival in the villa, which is why the security was upped with external forces, including some summoners
>player managed to evade and assense one spirit, but was caught by the other
>otherwise harmed no spirit, only summoned one spirit to distract the enemy one, fled when her spirit was rekt

so yeah, I'll probably just have the security be more on their toes for the next week but not try to trace and geek her

Thanks chummer

Shadowrun newbie here. What kind of dice pools are typically used for primary/secondary kinds of skills?

For example, if I am a a big troll gangbanger, what am I expected to take in stealth and various charisma skills (I guess etiquette and con?), and what am I expected to take in my various facepunch skills?
>>
>>53584097
12+ for your main combat
10/8 for other considerations. Much lower than that isn't really worthwhile.
>>
>>53584097
Depends what kind of chargen rules you have.
Broadly, your primary role (Like, shooting things) should have anywhere from 14 to 20 dice, with 16 a good benchmark for dedicated role competence. Secondary skills (like, your talking if you're not the face) should be at 9-12.
>>
>>53584097
Stealth, etiquette, and gymnastics are usually worth taking at least one point in, just so can avoid defaulting. You will have to make one of those rolls eventually, so you should have enough to not embarass your team.
>>
Thoughts on a monowhip as a secondary weapon? I'm looking for a melee option for my elf street sam.
>>
>>53584775
It's a good fit if you're doing a high AGI low STR build and are willing to invest in the required exotic weapon skill. Get the highest grade fingertip compartment you can find and stick it inside.
>>
>>53584775
If you're willing to put points into unarmed, you can do neat things with martial artsl
>>
>>53571955
>giant troll bewbs
good taste
>symmetrical troll bewbs
sadly not canon anon
>>
>>53584775
Downsides to the monowhip are that it is lethal and illegal as fuck, and it's not a versatile skill.

All the other close combat choices have non-lethal options (especially with martial arts), and Clubs and Unarmed have options that don't rely on STR.

A Shock Hand is super useful. It doesn't rely on strength, can be combined with handy martial arts techniques, and no one is going to bat an eye at it.
>>
>>53584775

Unarmed has a huge amount of options. Shock gloves are a blast and they tend to be very effective, even against drones/electronics. Hard Targets added Plasteel Toe Boots, which will turn your kicks into lethal damage instead of just stun. I mostly like them for fluff purposes though.
>>
>>53585078
>>53585216
Isn't the 8S stun hands kind of wimpy compared to the 13P -8 AV murder machine? I can't see how martial arts can make up for that.

On an unrelated note, are Active Hardwires a good option for picking up extra skills? 0.3 essence and 24000 nuyen seems like a low low cost to be able to access a whole new skill.
>>
>>53584959
Augmentation, what are you even
>inb4 some purist bullshit
>>
>>53585461

Sounds like you already made up your mind, but consider the following:

Can't be disarmed, vs can be disarmed
Has Specializations vs Is an exotic skill
8S(e) -5 AP and options for adding strength vs 12P -8 AP with no further improvements
Legal vs Super Illegal
Is masculine, like Bruce Lee vs You twirl around like a Rhythmic Gymnast
If you glitch you look foolish vs if you glitch you fucking kill yourself

Either is fine, both are fun. Mono Whip is a shitton better than clubs, and better than blades. Chainsaws are also a blast. Pick what you want buddy
>>
>>53585821
Is making a character who's primary weapon is a chainsaw viable?
>>
>>53585874
iirc there aren't really any good chainsaw's around.
Seems like a waste from a mechanical pov.
From a backgorun pov it sounds like a fun concept though.
>>
>>53586007
It just peaked my interest because I'm currently making an adept whose whole shtick is overkill to the max. I was planning on going automatics and having an MG with a grenade launcher, but a chainsaw might be more fun. Mechanically best isn't really that important to me so long as it's not literally a detriment.
>>
>>53585874

Depends on how you define viable. Its about as subtle as a heavy weapons specialization, but without being able to be far away. That said, with adept bullshit are augmented agility (Or both) you can definitely keep up with your team unless they're super into powergaming or your GM is a murderous prick.

So, pink mohawk yes, Black Trench coat no.

Your GM might give you Distinctive Style, so consider taking it anyways.
>>
>>53586007
There's one in run and gun that's on par with the mono-whip. (Ash arms mono chainsaw)
>>
>>53586111
>adept bullshit or augmented agility (Or both)

Was hoping to find a general RP advice thread, but didn't find one. Figured this was likely the best spot to ask instead.

Looking into having a PC AI, shackled in that it is contained to its own system with no real ability to communicate without input from another PC until it has eventually learned enough about the party members to convince the other PC's to give it more access to more systems in their ship or home or phone or whatever to then classify it as unshackled.

Does anyone have resources or examples to look into for ideas on how to RP this? I have some rudimentary ideas, but I'd like to brush up on as much material as possible beforehand.

Here's a question for you cats: I'm playing a decker in a campaign right now, and not to toot my horn but I kick ass and wreck shop with nigh-impunity thanks to my Sleaze dice loving me and my GM's dice hating him constantly. I know he's getting sick of me casually bricking the known universe and wants to put the boots to me ganger-style if not splatter my magnificent noggin' all over someone's dinner tray at a soyburger dive with copious bullets, but he's more subtle than drive-by hit shenanigans just to be petty. What's the likelihood he'll hit me with something like CFD and what all could I do about it if he tries?
>>
>>53588599
1) Tell him to not hate the player but the game. Take the dice rolls as they come and dont be salty about it.
2) Grab a specilized hunter-killer nanites that can stop CFD. Not Chrome Flesh ones. There are others that actually work.
3) Alternative is Techno with complex form that can extract the AI from the nanites
4) Do a deep matrix dive and destroy the AI yourself
5) Become infected
>>
>>53588599
>What's the likelihood he'll hit me with something like CFD
No idea.
>what all could I do about it if he tries?

Electricity & EMP will stun hard nanites. This will allow you to filter them from the subject.

Chemicals exist to kill soft nanites dead. No mess, no fuss.

Starvation kills nanites faster than the original strain can replicate without ingested materials. Nutrition spells will keep you alive.

The Boston strain clusters almost entirely around the brain, and only the brain nanites are contagious.

>>53588863
>2) Grab a specilized hunter-killer nanites that can stop CFD. Not Chrome Flesh ones. There are others that actually work.
Name the book.

>3) Alternative is Techno with complex form that can extract the AI from the nanites
IIRC, there were some hefty limitations on that.

O follow the rules of 3s

12 or as close as you can get for your primary skill. Ex. A street Sam and shooting guns, should be rolling 12d

9 for secondary shit, like Athletics, con, etc

6 for tertiary shit you only have for funsies, like if your character plays the guitar or was a chemical engineer in a former life.

>wipe out a small gang
>counter steal some medical stuff from some gang and return it to their Street Doc
>gather some reagents

>break into a villa, document the security flaws and steal a file off an internal server

Mostly that is because they still haven't proven to be ready for a A or AA corp yet

How would you fix dwarves to make them mechanically useful, /srg/?
>>
So I just had my first shadowrun session as gm.
One thing that happened multiple times, the nartaki wants to use 4 pistols at the same time on the same target.
What would be the process for making that work?
>>
>>53600955
Split their dicepool between all four pistols evenly, then reduce all offhand pools by 2.
>>
>>53600955
>my first shadowrun session as gm.
>the nartaki
FULL RETARD ALERT

Also, they would split the dice pool between all 4 pistols, applying the off-hand modifier to 3 of them unless they take the ambidextrous quality which reduces that to 2 of them
So if they have a DP of 12 (without modifiers) they will fire one shot with 3+(Modifiers) dice and three with 1+(Modifiers) dice
>>
>>53600955
AFAIK you can evenly divide your dicepool to make simultaneous attacks against different targets, but NOT against the same target.

So if he had a dicepool of 16 he could attack four guys with 4 dice, or two guys with 8 dice, or three guys with 5, 5, & 6 dice, etc. But he still can't make more than one attack against any single person in the same initiative pass.
>>

IIRC a cyberzombie isn't a literal zombie, just a soul stapled to a 'body' crammed with ware. They have all the attendant psycosis but probably can exist outside of a deep dark dungeon without murdering everything right?
>>
>>53600955
You can't
>>53601573 is wrong.
You can only make one attack per target in an initiative pass. If he's targeting multiple folks, you split the dicepool and add the off-hand penalty to the other three hands.

And you might want to explain the rules to your player a bit better, may have to kick him if he doesn't shape up.
>>
>>53601580
Yeah, Cyberzombs aren't literal zombies. However, they do murder everything around them if not controlled.

If he doesn't die immediately he should be a huge liability though since most people will remember a golden goro looking motherfucker dual wielding dual pistols.
>>
>>53601612
>You can only make one attack per target in an initiative pass.
RAW, you're only correct for anything that's not throwing weapons, and there's been no errata to change that.

>Multiple readied throwing weapons can be thrown at a target within Short or Medium range by adding a Multiple Attacks Free Action (see Multiple Attacks, p. 196).

>>53601573 isn't "wrong", so much as it's an interpretation of the rules, that fits within the rules. You can only attack one target once per initiative pass? That is using the existing rules to produce a single attack from multiple weapons. Reverse engineering "Not Enough Bullets", if you will.

Hardline No Fun Allowed rules bludgeoning is "wrong".
>>
>>53601612
>If he's targeting multiple folks, you split the dicepool and add the off-hand penalty to the other three hands.
That's not how you split dice pools.

>The attacker’s dice pool is calculated with all modifiers (Wound, Environmental, Situational, and the full recoil of all attacks if it’s a ranged attack) and then split as evenly as possible between all attacks, and each attack is handled separately.

Calculate dice pool first (all bonuses and penalties), then split evenly.
>>
>>53600955
Can't use firearms to attack the same target multiple times in the same initiative pass. He can split the dice pool evenly rounding down to attack 4 different targets if he wants. Don't forget to apply offhand penalties.
>>
>>53602685
>What would be the process for making that work?
>>
>>53602613
hmm, I was pretty sure that you first split, then apply dice pool modifiers
although that opens some questions: What if you have three of them be smartguns? Is your bonus +2, +6 or 0?

>>53602309
I remember a discussion a few months back that had the same meta-problem
yes, it is a useful houserule, one that is pretty logical and makes the game better
But we need to clarify that it is a house rule, not RAW. this is not meant as a value judgement (SR has a lot of house rules and NEEDS those) but as a way to make it clear that not every GM might use it.
>>
>>53602685

>of 0.8 is reduced by ten percent, or 0.08, to
>become 0.72, and is rounded down to 0.7
Standard multiplier becomes 1.0x - 10% = 0.9x
Alphaware as in the example becomes 0.8x - 10% = 0.7x
Betaware becomes 0.7x - 10% = 0.6x
Delta becomes 0.5x - 10% = 0.4x

Base cold damage as on p 170 (pretend that's cut into less than half because there's a box over it) only mechanically causes armor to make a test. Any hit, fine. No hits, break. Glitch of any kind, it's an irreparable break in a dangerous way.

It mentions the other things but gives no support, so it's all down to fiat.

Now, that said, some of the cold spells are interesting. The direct one from Shadow Spells is Direct and also has an initative loss component, but the Drain is high, especially if you go for Witness My Hate. But that's what Reagents are for if you're not AoE-ing.

And Ice Storm is for when you need to cast two different spells, an AoE attack and Ice Sheet, on the same target area and don't want to either split your pool or take the likely overall higher drain of recklessly casting both spells at full pool.

So basically a very specialized get-away spell.

Err ... no?

>AIMED BURST
>Complex Action
>This is an attack from a Burst Fire-capable weapon (not Semi-Auto Burst) fred in such a way to increase damage instead of making it harder to avoid. Since it is a Complex Action tracking Progressive Recoil becomes very important. The attack loses the –2 penalty to the defender but gains +1 DV. It costs the frer three rounds of ammunition.

>BRAIN BLASTER
>Complex Action
>Usually Full-Auto fre is designed to increase the chance to hit, not to put a lot of rounds in one place. This action focuses a Full-Auto Action into a tight little area and causes all sorts of pain and damage. Tracking Progressive Recoil becomes very important with this action. The attack gains +2 DV and costs the frer six rounds of ammunition.

>DOUBLE-TAP
>Complex Action
>A rapid pair of well-aimed shots from a Semi-Automatic-capable weapon fred in such a way to increase damage instead of making it harder to avoid. Tracking Progressive Recoil becomes very important with this Action. The attack gains +1DV and costs the frer two rounds of ammunition. There is no penalty to defensive rolls from this shot.

Not him, and I can't verify the veracity of his claims, but he's saying it says to round DOWN.
>>
How important is party balance?
I've been gearing up to run my first game, and I've been talking to the players about what sort of runner they're interested in. It seems that most of them want to play some sort of magic user. Should I tell them to balance things a bit more, or should I just run some sort of Occult-CSI stuff?

Also, I told them no technomancers for the first game on y'all recommendation. Should I ban deckers too, and just use an NPC if they ever need one?
>>
>In game terms, the Essence cost of implants of the particular chosen type are reduced by ten percent, rounded down to the tenth. This rebate is cumulative with the reduction offered by the chosen ’ware’s grade, if any (e.g., the reduction for alphaware of 0.8 is reduced by ten percent, or 0.08, to become 0.72, and is rounded down to 0.7).

The reduction from Biocompatibility is to lower the grade multiplier. When you reduce the multiplier for Alphaware (0.8 to 0.72), the multiplier is rounded down. (0.7)

If it were Betaware the result would be a multiplier of 0.6, while Deltaware would be 0.4. Used drops down to 1.1.
>>
>>53608074
Thus, the result of Biocompatibility and a Datajack of Standard grade (1.0 to 0.9 multiplier) is a change from 0.1 Essence to 0.09 Essence.
>>
>>53608064
If they're new players definitely ban deckers.
>>
>>53608074
Deltaware rounds down to free, though, so you can use that.
>>
>>53608064
It really depends on the depth the DM wants to put into their encounters. A mixed party is capable of facing just about anything and having a shot at beating it, regardless of its nature or occupation. I've never seen a party of all magic users, so I'm not sure how squishy they'd be against a Red Samurai strike team or whatever, but at the very least it opens up a range of possibilities for opposition like cabals of mages or toxic shamans.
>>
Can someone explain the gameplay impact of essence to me?
I understand that it's something like your soul and with every bit of natural body you replace you lose some of your soul/essence and when you're down to 0 you're essentially dead.
But how does it factor into gameplay when it's over 0 but under 6?
>>
>>53608239
Are you a mage or technomancer? It does not, with the exception of the Heal spell, it'll never come up in gameplay.
If you're a mage or technomancer, it reduces your MAG/RES stat by one for every point off for six you are. So say you have 6 magic and 5.7 essence - you pay for 6 magic and get 5 magic out because you're missing that .3 essence, putting you down from six by one.
>>
>>53608064
If they want to play magic users, you have a grand opportunity to have an incredibly destructive high power level campaign with clashing cosmic forces utilizing apocalyptic rituals, where dragons are both allies and enemies with force 40 spirits massacring entire population centres.

Magic in Shadowrun is fucking nuts sometimes. Blood Magicians, Insect Shamans, Godlike Adepts crashing helicopters by throwing daggers at the rotors, people floating into the skies to throw 20 meter balls of disintegrating mana. Adepts getting their veins ripped out. It's awesome.

On the skill use it says it reduce time to rain a skill in days equal to the net hits. Which seems awesome for 1-4 ranks and completely useless beyond it.
But then before that in advancements chapter it says the instructor can reduce the training time by 25% so which one is it ?
And the tutorsoft? Can you use it like instructor? What is its limit? Can it reduce the time by 25% or net hits in days ?

Honestly, most of the things that can take out your Essence can only do it in circumstances where you're not dead because they wanted to eat some essence.

The one exception I can think of is advanced alchemy products that grant Regeneration. Granted, that's a very expensive thing (IIRC they'd need to spend non-raw reagents to get to Potency 7, and that takes a bit) and you still have a regenerating person for a little while.

If I remember correctly the best chargen armor combo is Sleeping Tiger Suit + Argentum Coat, both found in Run & Gun.
If your game has already started, you might want to save up for a Full Body Armor + Helmet + Forearm Guards, which combined with your Bone Lacing will put you at 21 armor.
The max you can acheive is with Heavy Security Armor + Helmet + Forearm Guard, for a total of 20+3+1+2= 26 armor. But if you want to run up close and personnal to dice people with that monowhip, this option might not suit you.

Consider the average security guard.
Let's say he's got AGI 4 and Automatics 6. He is, after all, a professional. He is firing at you with an HK227. Suppose he took a Take Aim action.
His dicepool is 4(AGI) +6+1(Non-implanted Smartlink)+1. On those twelve dice, he should average 4 hits.
Therefore, your dodge pool should ideally over 12 dice, so you have a decent chance of dodging the shot altogether. If you want to feel safer, go for 16, but that might be hard to reach without Full Defense. Keep in mind that this is the guard firing 1 bullet, where he will usually go for short controlled bursts.

Now suppose the guard has 1 net hit on you. This SMG hits at 7P +1. To soak that damage, you would need 24 soak dice. Quite high, but definitely not out of reach.

You may argue that this is a simple low-level mook, an that kind of protection won't be enough if you are targetted by a Full Auto Ares Alpha with APDS rounds. And here's my advice to you: don't get into firefights with guys with ARES Alphas and APDS rounds.

>>53618688
Nothing says that peices from different lines can't stack, as long as they are modified by the same person. By that logic, Second Skin would not be able to fit with anything.

>>53618745
Depends on the items. Some guns and cyberdecks really are corp specific, but otherwise I would say that every corp produces variations of the same product.
