I once

Had an idea about a game.

Players would think, through my descriptions, that they were in standard fantasy.

In truth, they were witnessing many dimensional anomalies, mostly, time-based.

What they think was a dragon, with an impenetrable skin of metal, a thunderous roar, spitting fire and flying in the sky, was in fact a fighter plane.

That same game would also have the hop back and forth a millenia in the future where they could get to witness the changes they brought to the world. Initially, many races would have disappeared from existence and even knowledge (hinting at some atrocious acts of genocide), and they'd have to find what went wrong and fix it, and discover the "correct sequence" for the best future, which would get more and more stable in terms of events.

They'd also discover how many of these events in their time had been retroactively created by future agents who all tried to prevent different things from happening. Most of them believed they were saving the world from cataclysm with more or less drastic measures.

So they'd see races in their medieval / dark age setting, then get to make friends with NPCs of the same in the neo-futuristic times where gnolls play heavy metal.

But I never got around to elaborate on the idea and make a game too.

I think Dragon/Orc Crossblood Sorc gets you the biggest nukes, but progression slows pretty hard. Admixture Wizard gets some surprisingly good damage without worrying about elemental immunities, and spells progress pretty quick, though you won't get as many.

Generally speaking, if you're limited to 1st-Party, your best bang-for-your-buck caster is going to be a Wizard (Evocation-Admixture) 1 / Sorcerer (Crossblood Dragon + Orc, Blood Havoc) 19. What are your guys thoughts on a rule 0/Session 0 setting? The idea is that it's a somewhat kinda sort of setting that is meta and allows you to test any and everything without having to commit to any sort of story or actual character progression.

The idea I have for one is essentially a Solar System sized golem (conspicuously shaped like a whale because, why not?) that has several Halo style ring worlds for ribs, a super city in the head, and other structures in the tail and the fins. I don't know what I would put in them but the idea is that every and all potential environments and everything from every setting can exist all at once in a sort of super amusement park style setting to let you test out stuff.

Want to see how your party in it's current form would do against a potential boss? "Hey guys, take this challenge and how well you do determines what kind of prizes you get!" Afraid that a person's build is too powerful? Run them through their paces and scenarios and see how they do.

Truth be told though, messing up your build can easily be made into a roleplaying point, especially at low levels and high levels. In real life people often start off on the wrong foot and suffer for it way down the line because of poor habits they never fixed, or people on the high end of the scale, the trailblazers, need to grope in the dark entirely clueless because well nobody is this high to teach them.

Exactly, The idea is born primarily out of those things because. 1. Rather than just being thrown into a setting you don't know and forced to just do it you can feel out the character mechanically and roleplaying wise and then when the session starts you can contrive some shit like you had a dream like experience or whatever.

Not only that, if the game never reaches level 20 you never get to experince what your build it as max power and I think that's a crime by itself. You can set up any sort of challenge and see what your character can do on the far end of the scale and possibly help the DM figure out how to run a high level game.

Further still, you can offer incentivies in the form of little bonuses for doing the minigames. A plus to skill check here, an item there, some kind of advantageous event. etc.

You can use Blade Adept to have both an Arcane Bond and exploits? And also some melee ability that an Arcanist could have no real ability to put to use.

I like having ways to cast directly from your bigass spell list. Quick Study is brilliant but not quite Arcane Bond. Getting both might just be exclusive to Blade Adept Arcanist, I'm not sure; the Arcane Bloodline taken with Blood Arcanist might be by RAW not have the same use because it's changed for Sorcerers.

With how vast the Pathfinder catalog is at this point, what are some weird items, feats, traits, spells, etc that you found? Things that are super niche, things that are just weird or interesting, or things that help make those builds more viable.

I have found things like Effortless Lace which makes dex builds with one handed weapons possible. Niche items like Piecemeal weapons. Always be armed! And the strange like birth control items for men and women to go on that fucking spree.
