The "I made obscure cyoas edition thread but nobody really posted so I'm kinda vaguely disappointed but I didn't really post any myself either so I guess I didn't live up to the expectations either" edition. All is moist.

How many?
>>
I know there was a Jojo CYOA floating around somewhere, and there were at least two. I'm looking for the one that has options for picking Vampire/Hamon powers, being mildly RYOA for which part of the story you're in, picking an origin story, and a bunch of other perks and options. Obviously post both, I need to rebuild my collection after a drive failure. I've been watching Jojo for the first time and I feel the need to write something based on it but don't want to fanfic it up too much and CYOAs are a good way to prevent me from becoming a Mary Sue. Should I post my writing when I'm done, at least in a pastebin or something? I don't think my writing is very good but it's content at least and I don't really want to write something if nobody will see it.

>>53107749
There's too many of the pick a grill CYOAs already. It seems overdone to me and I don't much care for them since they're low effort and not a lot of fun to play since there's very little decisions to be made.
>>
>>53107749
Let the waifus also be your mother. Make them supernatural too. So you inherit some powers from your mom-girlfriend before you waifu them.
>>
>>53107373
Someone please sell Pirate to me, I kinda want to like it but it seems kinda weak, because how hard it can be to sell stolen property. I guess you could hijack cargo ships and sell them in Africa/East-Asia but it still doesn't seem that good. Like, the biggest sell in being pirate, as I see it, is that you are the master of your own domain, a completely free man. But almost all choices here make you free, either by letting you ignore all the rules or by making you the big cheese. And they have the benefit that you don't need to assault cruise ships for toilet paper.

>>
>>53108125
Right, so

>Engineering Degree
>Drivers License

Going to mech hard.

Broad Frigate - 3500 (big enough to have hangar space for the below choices)
>Navajo IV - Free (my pride and joy and the centrepiece of the build)
>Mobile Base - 2500 (should be a good base of ops for my eventual planet goal)
>Environmental Suit - Free
>Vanguard Armor - 550 (in case I have to go on the job out of my mech)
>Plasma Pistol - 200 (as above, for use outside my mech if necessary)
>Holocomm - 250 (planning on a small team for this job anyway so should be good to stay in contact and cover more ground)
>AI - 500 (can help keep the ship in touch with us planetside
>Gatling Turret x 2 - Free (could have got more dangerous ones, but all its really for is anti personnel uses. Attached to the mobile base)
>Entertainment system x 8 - 400 (seems like a good way to kill time planetside)
>Portable Medic Cache - 250
>Jetpack - 650
>Blink Implant - 1000
>Galactic Chart - 500

Will save the rest for a rainy day.

For companions:
>Kale Hudson - Seems like a good dude, should do just fine on this job
>Dr Flynn Dreen - There just in case there are any on the job injuries
>Maid-Bot - We've got a pretty grim and gross job on our hands so having the place kept tidy would be appreciated
>Prozh Da'Truff - Should be well equipped for our mission
>Donna Walsh - Back up medic and gunner. Travel sickness shouldn't be a huge issue.

Planet:
>Polyrot
So this is a messy, grim job, but we seem well suited to the task of wiping out a planet full of zombies. Not like they can do much to my beloved mech and the mobile bunker will be able to cruise from block to block sweeping the streets while our crew uses it as homebase. With two medics and supplies HOPEFULLY we can deal with any on the job infections, but I honestly think it'd be unlikely it'd even come up, I don't see many zombies getting close enough to bite, let alone getting through our groups various armors. Should be good money in it for us.

Honestly that depends on how attractive you are because despite all the memes about it you are not very likely to end up with a 3D girl really more attractive than you are. (unless you are a real-life millionnaire sugar dadies <-> gold diggers are just as fake and unfulfilling for most normal people)
If you are attractive enough to attract what are you truly attracted (And I'm not talking about some rationalized and reasonable standard, just what you genuinely find attractivd) to then 3D >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2D but otherwise 2D >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3DPD.
At the end of the day sexual attraction is just a yes/no, no matter if you are 10 attracted to everything but grotesquely deformed humans or a 1 attracted to nothing, and pretenting to have a relationship when it's a "no" is just a travesty. (and honestly even a lot of unattractive don't want to be involved with people just settling with them and lying to them about their true feelings)
Just my 2c.

>Shield - 550

>AI - 500
>Entertainment system x 8 - 400
>Portable Medic Cache - 250
>Jetpack - 650
>Blink Implant - 1000
>Galactic Chart - 500

Companions
>Janine Cluffield (Now I have more hangar room, she'd add a mech of her own to our zombie sweeping team. Not going to stat it out but lets say a Reaper)
>Dr. Flynn Dreeen (keeping for the reasons I had him before, a good doc would be handy on a zombie planet. Also now has a proper laboratory to use)
>Zoya Kolosov (can bomb zombies and isn't gong to get bitten through that suit. Also CUTE)
>Karkwell Da (more mech assisted zombie culling with his Tumbleweed (which maxes out our hangars), as well as another tech themed character, between me, him and Janine we should be able to keep our base and mechs in good condition even on a zombie world)
>Bleecia Rainfort (can hold down the fort in the mobile bunker, it has plenty of turrets to keep her busy. Can also keep us stocked with bullets if we need to save on expenses and supply trips).

Blinks was very tempting because CUTE, as was Silverbird. Maybe in a future build.

>Polyrot
>Immunity
>Gore
Makes sense, gunning down swarms of zombies from a mech cockpit probably becomes rote after a while
>Junky
Jury rigging in the field would be a good skill to have for such a mech based group
>Greaser
To keep the ship in good nick.

I feel like I should perhaps add a pilot to our crew, but for now I'll rely on AI, we're not particularly regular planet hoppers in any case.

However, if I swapped someone's change (money) for change (alteration), how much could I control the result?

I guess "change of opinion" would've been clearer - just convincing them to be loving waifus (if it would've worked)

>Free the King
Finally with my further training and equipment its time to free King Nikolai, the Order forces should be no match for me now.

>The Golden Horde
WIth the king free, I would hope we'd be able to rally our forces well enough to turn back the centaurs. They're going to struggle getting through our territory anyway, as much of it is mountain, forest or (presumably) water, so all we'd really need to do is blunt any attempts they make into our lands and let them crash against the Ravens and Order.

I'd say it depends on how much change they have.
Just keep in mind that controlling the specifics of your word-changing would be difficult beyond the core meaning you are altering. Maybe you could get better at it with practice.

It is strange that this CYOA offers leather armor, but doesn't offer a wizard's robe, swords, shields, and other such weapons. I did not spend all of my gold, because I intend to equip and train my slaves well to be adventurers. I'd need to spend gold on the rest of their equipment.

All four of them get normal clothes when we're at home. When we set off on an adventure, my half-celestial cleric and martially gifted orphan will get leather armor. The magically gifted orphan is a long distance fighter and a mage, so she has less need of armor. I have two vanguards, the martially gifted orphan and the immortal. The immortal needs no armor at all.

The spellbook is a gift to the magically gifted orphan.

Depending on my talents, I would also try to learn magic and stay in the back ranks. If I had no magical talent I would bring a bow.

That would leave our party of with two front rank fighters, one back rank healer, and two back rank offensive casters. We may all be novices, so we'll start on easy quests.

The existence of a Nosferatu vampire and the immortal tell me that in this world immortality is possible for me to grasp. I would make that one of my goals in my adventures. It would be easy to become immortal from the start if I took the Nosferatu vampire and made her turn me, but I do not want to go through life looking like a Nosferatu. I would hold out for a better vampire clan, or find another method of immortality aside from vampirism.

Anyone has more girlfriend choosing games like this one? There's something very refreshing to me about the "style" of this. Not sure how to explain this, but I guess you could say it's the focus on "realism", so to speak. Both the use of real images instead of anime and the detailed descriptions which almost always paint the picture of relatively normal individuals. None of these girls is particularly perfect and almost all of them feel like people who might actually exist, with all the little quirks, personality flaws and inconsequential details that entails.

Anyone got something?

I have a similar thing going in my cyoa.

The orphan gets natural aptitude in the cyoa subject, basically a shounen protagonist.

The family one comes with celebrity parents and inherited looks + connections.

Basically Mary Sue vs Queen Bee.

The basic purpose of the "orphan" option is to attempt to avoid the memory death guy from whining too hard.

The odds of you ever making it to so much as the first gate are slim, and it's not until the 6th or 7th that things get actually convenient. "Sight" is only a luxury compared to demon filled darkness.

I was going to say that anyone who picks Heaven or Hell doesn't deserve their fate but now that I think about, I don't have many people dearest to me left and there's nonzero change that they will die before me. Free Heaven!

Sheol is coin flip with expected value of zero, only scenario where this would be good choice is if all the other choices were various states of shit.

Hades sounds great, I love shitty weather and hate bright colors. Not sure if I want to be working for the rest of the eternity tho.

Reincarnation and Ghost are both shit deals.

Duat is interesting, tho I'm not entirely sure how you are supposed to reach the first gate with no sight. The deserts sound dangerous but I guess there's eternity of time to learn.

Valhalla is Valhalla.

The Deal is kinda shit since it will eventually end up with you imprisoned for life and then to Hell, since it doesn't even give you any shit to help you kill people.

Oblivion is comforting choice.

I would pick Duat but I'm concerned that Osiris knows that I picked Isis in Picking-a-Goddess, so I'll go to Valhalla instead.
>>
>>53110478
>Would be a tad odd no? To be adopted when you're a teenager?
Odd, but presumably not unheard of. Alternatively, you could just imply that the orphanage youre put in is sufficiently well-off to provide a relatively trouble-free environment on par with the loving family option.
Also, if orphans were beef and adoptive families were freezers, then you could say that I forgot about fridges for a moment there.
>>
>>53110442
Heaven/hell/sheol suck dick so they can fuck right off

Hades sounds incredibly comfydark so I'd be willing to consider it for an eternity with some depressing friends and just generally doing regular people shit.

Reincarnation is meh

Ghost is a slightly worse meh

Duat sounds awesome but dangerous, I'd choose it in a heartbeat if I could brave it with some friends and go on an epic adventure

Valhalla is easily the most fun and requiring the least amount of effort to enjoy

The deal is bad and only idiots would take it

Oblivion is the best and you'd be an idiot not to take it.

One of my favourite tropes is actually wealthy and/or powerful mentors adopting older main characters in whom they see potential.

If this were a magic cyoa, I'd imagine it as a famous Witch meeting you, noticing you're unaffiliated and have quite some potential, and deciding to train you and make you into her Heir.

Oh, I just examined wordplay again. I erroneously assumed that I needed to wait for others to make a reference themselves, because I assumed changing the "communist party" into a "block party" would have no effect until that group of people referred to themselves as communists.

I don't think that's the case though. The concept of the communist party already exists in common knowledge, so whether or not those who strictly adhere to communist politics refer to themselves as communists does not matter. They are still communists, and so any statements made that influence communists should also apply to them.

If this is true, then I don't need to wait for people to use the word cock to refer to their dicks. The concept of cock is already out there. I can just name specific people, or groups of people and all of those people will have their dicks replaced with birds.

For example "aboriginal cocks" could all be changed into "free-range organic cocks". This would change all of the dicks of the aboriginal people into healthy organic chickens and roosters. I imagine the aboriginal people would not appreciate this. I have nothing about the aboriginal people - it's just an example.

With this I have the power to change the dicks of my enemies into chickens.

Genius is completely shit choice and pretty arbitrary punishment.

If you want to change world by changing public opinion, Artiste can probably do it. If you believe in something so much that you would trade your life to make it true, this might be able to do it. The punishment feels a bit magical but it's at least somewhat common thing for famous artists and it comes with magical bonus of guaranteed fame.

Paragon's penalty makes sense and is in my opinion a good example of what downsides 'gimme perfect body' wish would have.

Socialite, Degenerate and Innocent downsides make sense but I have a feeling that person who would choose these wouldn't care.

I guess Hero's downside makes kinda sense but forcing you to fight someone significantly stronger than yourself that actually knows how to use his powers right from the start is a bit rough. It's hard to read this as anything except "You get superpowers but most of the humanity will die. Get rekt".

Predator's downside makes sense and has been theme before, it's not really mentioned at all in cyoas tho.

Terminator kinda shares the problems of Hero and Socialite/Degenerate/Innocent. Pick this and we'll kill you family, fucking owned. Except people who pick this probably aren't bothered by the constant need to kill because that's the reason they signed up for.

Here's a problem with Magician. It sucks. Just replace the downside with "Of all the possible ways to be a wizard, this is what you got". It will still be picked by nobody.
The downside at least ties thematically to the powers but it's only a problem if you hang around people. Also, if you don't give a shit about people, there's no downside, asshole Wizard wins again. Until they look at their powers and cry.
>>
>>53111315
Explorer's validity depends entirely on what kinda universe we live in. If humans are only living thing in here, flying around and checking stars will get boring really fucking fast. If there's massive Space UN and you can spend eternity surfing SpaceNet and ordering stuff from Space Amazon, the downsides are very minor.

Not a single Adventurer will Magician, because even in 14th century Europe, it really fucking sucks. I guess it brings attention to the fact that a lot of adventure world require you to wipe your ass with handful of leaves but since majority of these kinda cyoas tend to be high magic, I'm not sure if lack of antibiotics is a worry in world with healing magic.

Most people live their life with all the downsides of the Stranger with only few or none of the benefits, making this just straight up great boon. I guess it's arguable that it's balanced against being able to pick Magiciahahahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, there's no downside.

Beloved is a waifu, not sure what's the reveal here, that someone created specifically for you, made to love you unquestionably and compelled to obey might not be complete human being? I think most people who pick 'make a waifu' option would consider those a bonus.

I guess Terminator kinda sounds interesting and technically I am a trained killing machine already due to army but I'm not going to pretend that I would be able to kill people just for personal gain. I guess it's either Degenerate or Stranger, both are better than my current life and I already suffer bunch of their downsides. Gotta flip a coin.

The guy who made this said his intention was to imply she doesn't get to have free will, doesn't truly love you and is forced to behave that way, emphasizing the fact that waifu choices represent a sort of creepy desire for the shallow benefits of being in a relationship without care for any of the complex bits. However, he agreed that his phrasing was too vague and it wasn't clear, so I guess until he makes a new version you can interpret this however you like.

But that's the exact same issue you see with choices like the Degenerate or the Terminator. The exact type of person who would make those choices in the first place is the type least likely to care about such "flaws". If you're a chronic waifuer, then odds are you either don't care or don't understand why you should care about whether someone likes you so long as they fuck, kiss and cook for you and tell you how precious you are. And these guys are the last in the world who are going to "realize the error of their ways" and change their behavior somehow just because it was pointed out to them in a CYOA.

I would pick Socialite(i would actually pick Predator, but Socialite is second best so the point stands) and i would agree that it's drawback is pretty nonexistent, like what are the chances for me to find true love in real life? Finding a girl who i would love and who acts like she loves me even if she just loves an image ispretty great.

Though i don't think it's bad that certain option's drawbacks are less severe for those who would naturally pick them.

>>53111328

Heaven is hellish. It's essentially being hooked up to morphine. Not what I want to do with my eternity.

Hell is hell.

Sheol is a coinflip between these two.

Hades would make me want to kill myself.

Reincarnation is final death.

Ghost is okay, but kinda boring.

Valhalla will eventually result in final death because Surtr absolutely wins Ragnarok.

The Deal is monstrous.

Oblivion is final death.
So effectively the only real choice in this CYOA is Duat.

Don't know if that was the intention, but rules as written, with very little research you could use the Magician's potionmaking skills to provide people with things like chemotherapy drugs or those medicine cocktails that suppress AIDS for a fraction of the cost. Not to mention the stupid amount of money you could make by selling people illegal drugs you've concocted in the safety of your kitchen from some oregano and paprika, which the police is extremely unlikely to ever figure out. Sure, you'd be attracting fairies like crazy, but depending on the amounts involved you could fix yourself pretty damn fine for a month at a time just selling high quality cocaine potions, giving you ample time to bargain them away.

Plus, scamming people using the knowledge of their dead loved ones. And taking revenge on anyone who annoys you with your gaze powers.

The Magician choice seems to be aimed at the kind of petty, lazy person who wants to fast and easy way to achieving immediate goals. It kinda does that.

You'd be wrong, senpai. There's a reason a lot of waifu fantasies involve being some hero or chivalric fucker of some description. People innately do want to be loved for themselves, and thus innately, they want her to like them. The accusation of "You want someone to say I love you!" is an empty one that could be thrown at literally anyone, imagination game or not.

Also, changing their behavior doesn't amount to shit, even if you were right. This is an imagination game. You expect them to go out and find a real girlfriend or something? That shit is going to end badly 90% of the time even if they weren't an awkward nerd. That's tossing them into a meat grinder of the cruelties of reality where nobody likes you, betrayal is common, and everything is built up on lies.

inb4 one of you whines about people hating some shitty waifu choice where the girl was even worse than a real one and use that as an example of people not wanting to be likeable/put in some effort.

Something to the tune of first putting the background in the image, then putting the backgroundless portrait on top. Specifics depending on your editor of choice.

I feel like the drawback for Adventurer works and is in spirit of it. Yeah, you are turbomurderhobo and you have a dragon. It's also medieval Europe, nobility are assholes, food sucks, there are no sewers and whores have bubonic plague.

Exceeept cyoas in these usually either have so high magic that it could conceivably replicate all technology or put you in position where the reply is just "yeah, sucks to be a peasant, pity about them".

A lot of these choices are basically just that, though. They're choices you'd have been given in many other cyoas, except this also encourages you to consider the drawbacks. If it's a proper editor you're using, you can just magic wand the blank background away and put the desired background on a layer below the portrait image.
If it's MSPaint, there's an option in the selection tool submenu that makes the secondary (i.e. background) color in the selection transparent. Use that, have a big enough canvas that you can fit both the desired background image and the portrait (plus some free space to move 'em around, maybe) in there, and play around with the positioning until you get something satisfactory.
>>

It's about distilling the essence of each choice, explicitly IN ORDER to make people think. The artist is the biggest example. It offers you a chance to fulfill an artist's noblest goals (changing society, inspiring people, influencing opinions, being immortalized, etc.) but without any of the worldly benefits. The point is for you to truly do some self examination and realize whether you really ever wished to be a great artist, or just a celebrity.

Socialite appears to be aimed at bitter /robots/ who constantly complain about the rich and beautiful getting everything they want. It offers to make you rich and beautiful but just that, supposedly so you'll consider whether it'd be worth the real human connection.

Of course, since that audience rarely has friends anyway and will never find love even as they are, they have no reason not to pick it.
>>
>>53111880

>>
>>53111906

Look at the sarcastic note near the end of the choice. It's clearly meant for bitter cynics. "Sure, nobody will ever love you or be your true friend, but how many people can claim to have true love or friends anyway?"

The choice defeats its own purpose
>>
>>53111880
I think though the issue is it's not distilling it down to the essence. When people want to be an artist some might be wishing it for both fame and the ability to influence society. It comes off as a false sense of depth where the drawbacks don't arise from the natural ramifications, but instead by artificial caveats meant to "make you think" as it were

Notice how the cyoa says that you will never meet anyone loyal enough that they'd keep loving you if you weren't so "charming OR rich".

The point is you've been distilled to only your most surface level traits, money and looks. That's pretty obviously the intention. While this might produce interesting results if presented to normal people, I think you're underestimating the sheer level of self loathing, delusion and generally poor mental health of many 4channers. Because many of the drawbacks here are an extension of the choice, anyone who might've considered it anyway would choose it even with them. Do you seriously think someone who's wish is a life of eternal carnage gives a shit about their family? That someone who wants to become the perfect serial rapist/killer is afraid of raping and killing people? That a person who's been brought so low all they want is to spend the rest of their pathetic existence playing video games and eating Pop Tarts even wanted to step out of the house anyway?

>YOU THINK THAT THE KIND OF PERSON WHO HATES THEIR BODY SO MUCH THEY'D TRADE IT FOR A COMPLETE STRANGER CARE?
That's literally what the CYOA asks. Again, choice is clearly aimed at bitter robots. The kind of person who thinks he's entitled to endless complaining and NEETdom because he's been "doomed" to never succeed at anything due to having acne/not being tall enough/not being 10/10/being male. You think your body alone really dictates your whole fate? Then you should have no problem making it in life when all you've got going for you is exactly the body you wanted. What? Doesn't sound so inviting? So maybe you DO have advantages that aren't dependent on your body, like a family, a house, or enough money to spend it on anime. Be appreciative of those instead of crying.

> Sure, you'd be attracting fairies like crazy
It only happens once per month, and they'll go away if you give up a pint of blood. The average person has 8 pints, and giving up less than 15% of your blood will just leave you lightheaded. So the downside is basically just giving blood once per month. In exchange for being able to make various potions, see the future, and summon ghosts, it's not a bad tradeoff. Still, it is kind of dumb that magic is limited to just a handful of very specific things.

change (alteration of gender) is a bit too specific. It falls under the meaning "change of a property." It'd take work to get to where you could control the which properties get changed.

GPA is Grade Point Average. A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0. GPA (under normal circumstances) ranges from 0 - 4. Prestigious courses may increase these values to compensate for their difficulty, allowing GPAs of up to 5. It is an average of these letter grades. If some classes are more intensive than others (such as in colleges), then these values will make up a weighted average. The requirements to get any specific letter grade vary by institutions and courses. High schools often have A as 93+ whereas most college classes use 90+.

Obviously the second ones. If someone's genuinely disabled, or lived in such a slum he couldn't go to school for fear of being stabbed, or even if they've just been fired from their job at age 35 and made an honest but unsuccessful attempt to find one every day since then, it really isn't their fault. A lot of NEETs on 4chan are basically just infantile, though. They're NEETs because they can afford it and it's convenient. They could get a job, but choose not to, because a job would have to mean spending 10 hours a day doing something that isn't immediately rewarding.

>>
>>53112601
>Tell them I have no idea who I am (AMNESIA!) and play along
The problem is that in those kinds of scenarios most of the effort goes into finding out who you actually are. They'll try to figure out if anyone in the area might know you, or if you have family, or what jobs you've previously worked at, schools you went to, etc. That's why it's critical that you really don't have a past. With a body that's literally spontaneously formed, you're actually in worse shape than a person who "just" found themselves amnesiac.
>>
>>53112407
Fuck off, having a job does not make you better than anybody. This is especially true when it comes to NEETs who want to work but can't.

In general, social explanations make a lot more sense when you get to the level of "epidemic." The dumbest possible explanation for a recession, for example, is "wave of laziness sweeps across the world." But do we actually have a "NEET epidemic"? I know clinical depression is on the rise, certainly, and people in the US have lost confidence in institutions other than the military, as well as each other (this latter measure has been going down ever since we started measuring it!).

I dunno, I think it's mostly down to anemic growth, high inequality, low social mobility, and a political system which appears to be incapable of addressing any of these problems.

Boomers MAY be responsible for the latest wave of unemployed 20-somethings (i.e. the "Occupy Wall Street") crowd, although even that's debatable It's more likely the last two generations' influence on the education system resulting in such a focus on drilling into every single student "you are a special snowflake who should pursue your own dreams and could achieve anything!", which led many of them to make less than ideal life choices later on ("Imma gonna follow my dreams and major in gender studies instead of anything practical!") while simultaneously feeling that any job that WOULD accept them is inherently "beneath" them or "demeaning", because it's not the rewarding, easy, interesting one they've been sold on.

I think the stereotypical 4chan NEET isn't a part of that crowd, though.
>>
>>53112771
I think the real problem is the focus on academic accomplishments, not the special snowflake stuff. Students are shaped into being learning machines without any actual social skills. In the past, those people could integrate in the academic world but nowadays everyone is going to college.

You're dealing with a bunch of "intelligent" people who's only skill in life is being slightly above average in intelligence. That gets you nowhere these days.
>>
>>53112740
>Eventually they'll just help you adapt to your new life
A. Depends on where in the world you are.
B. Even so, it's more likely to involve directing you towards a homeless shelter and *possibly* putting you on some kind of welfare while you look for an entry level blue collar job (never finished high school), not providing you with an apartment, car, and 1000 gold to start with. Well, change (alteration of gender) is about the same granularity as party (gathering of fetishists). If you can't specifically cause a gender change, it wouldn't make sense to be able to specifically cause a block party (as opposed to a Tupperware, bachelor, or BDSM party).

In other news, animals in general are surprisingly good choices for Wordplay: not only is there the recurring "animal" -> "person with associated quality" to get rid of leeches (NEETs)/rats (traitors)/snakes (con men) or get more foxes (sexy people)/bears (gays), it also lets you hijack less serious definitions to get a cow (monstergirl) or squid (kid).

Also the floor level to become valuable is quite high : quite long higher education in a good establishment and in the good field at the right moment.somehow getting references,ect...
There is also the fact that the average IQ is not longer enough.
People like to meme about gender studies but even several decades ago there was a wave of astrophycists becoming worthless after NASA budget shrunk.
>>
>>53112804
It's a very complex issue. There's more than one reason. There are NEETs who have mental or physical problems that prevent them from getting a job.

There are also people who lack the motivation to work a full time job because of society. For many people a large part of the incentive to get out there and work all day is to have a family of their own. The men of old were willing to bust their asses working all day to come back to a loving wife and children. That dream is being shattered by feminism and leftism, which is ruining women. These men absolutely do have the right to complain about the direction that society is going.

Others may be unable to find work because their jobs are being taken by a flood of illegal rapefugees.

Yeah, that's when the lines between "acceptable reasons" and "excuse for laziness" begin to blur. If your trouble is "finding motivation" to work, for whatever reason... Well, it just doesn't look good. I guess each case is individual, but it frankly is hard for me to feel sorry for someone whose problem is not being able to ass themselves into working. Doubly so if they actually expect us to buy that it's because they couldn't get a girlfriend (Heck, I don't know what's worse, if they say that or if it's the actual truth. Grow a freaking spine)

Once you hit the level of "significant social problem," it doesn't matter how ridiculous you think the underlying problem is. If 15% of the US became unemployed because they were afraid to leave their homes for fear of being trampled by malevolent, red-eyed elephants driven to madness by the ivory trade, we would have to do something about it. Sitting around and saying "That's stupid, and I don't feel any sympathy for them" would not help; the resulting economic turmoil would eventually catch up with.

I'm sympathetic to the idea that you have to draw the line somewhere; if we could only fix things by re-instituting slavery, for example, that would just be too damn bad-- I'd rather live with the strife than fuck up basic human rights. But we're nowhere close to that point.

It's clumsily worded, but I think what that anon is trying to say is that young men are given certain expectations. What it means to be a "man". Support your family, work your job, never show weakness, and other such stupid shit. That portrayal of masculinity is beginning to break down and has been quite outdated for a while. Those who have been brought up with that specific idea of what life should be will find themselves disenfranchised when reality comes calling.

This is their fault for being immature fucks who can't adapt or move on with their lives, but also the fault of society for allowing this outdated view to remain unscathed. While there is plenty of pushback against the "go to college, buy a house, get a job" mindset that tends not to easily reflect reality, as well as strong pushback against outdated expectations for women, many harmful stereotypes that men suffer from go unchecked. This is not helped by white straight guys being the few acceptable targets left, being sort of held accountable for crimes both historical and current, perpetrated by people who happen to be white, with power and influence beyond the imagining of some suburban kid.

Of course, life isn't fair and no one should expect it to be. It does seem odd to me, however, that in a modern society where we strive for equality and social awareness, it's still acceptable to throw around the basement dwelling virgin nerd stereotype, an insult most harmful to those who need to most guidance. Just look at what it entails, it's a slight predicated on a lack of masculinity. Can't get women, can't support yourself, can't look good, can't man up. The irony of those espousing toxic masculinity throwing that insult solely based upon the concept itself at those most damaged by it is amazing

>I have a pretty strong feeling that a lot of the people who could say with a straight face that "feminism is why they can't find a girlfriend" couldn't find a girlfriend if it was the 1940's, either
That might have actually been true in the 1940s, when feminism, since early feminism was about equal rights for women.

Modern feminism is nothing of the sort. Our colleges churn out man haters and gold diggers. We are seeing the emergence of materialistic bitches on a large scale.

We live in a society where women openly talk about "first marriage strategies", where they marry a guy for money, divorce him, then get with the guy they actually want to be with.

You can laugh and deny the problem all you want, but the divorce statistics do not lie.

1) We do have good evidence that recessions do serious damage to lifetime earnings— people who are seriously affected by them never "catch up." The Great Recession, which saw double-digit youth unemployment, probably did create a "lost generation."

2) There's no particularly good evidence that the self-esteem movement did anything. It's mostly in the "wave of laziness" category.

>>53112804
3) The notion that social skills are on the decline may have some merit, insofar as we do see declining social capital in the US by conventional measures, but it's hard to say whether those measures capture the influence of, say, social media.

4) The college wage premium is pretty great right now despite the high cost of college; in other words, taking on an assload of debt for higher education is still a good deal, primarily because various factors have combined to make life hell for those with a high school education or less.

>>53112970
5) The "gender studies degree" thing is indeed a meme; those account for a very small fraction of the total degrees awarded, and most college students go for more practical areas like business or economics.

>>53112976
6) The net effect of feminism has been a boost to US economic growth, owing to the entry of women into the workforce. Of course, the extremely rich captured the vast majority of the gains from this boost.

7) "Flood of illegal rapefugees taking our jerbs" does not seem to be a thing, at least in the US.

>>53113025
8) Strictly speaking, the market for scientists is badly, badly fucked. We're seeing what is essentially a Malthusian catastrophe where the supply of scientists greatly outstrips scientific funding.
9) A tremendous amount of ink has been spilled on this subject, but I don't think anyone has reached any useful conclusions about it.

10) Feminists are actually aware of this, but they never really propose to do anything about it, and plenty of them will cheerfully use those sorts of attacks when going after targets they don't like.

>Most of the women I've dealt with are perfectly normal. The vast majority of them don't give three quarters of a damn about feminism and the ones that do, most of them believe that that radfem business is just a bunch of undermedicated loonies playing politics.
11) Feminism is, in general, really unpopular. Amazingly so. 4chan has a wildly exaggerated view of its political and social power.

This doesn't mean that the feminists are wrong, though. Environmentalism per se is also really unpopular, and climate change is by far the most serious and well-substantiated threat humanity currently faces.
>>
>>53113558
Well a few of these reasons can be outside of people control and it's not really fair to list them in the same list as being perverted for example.
>>
>>53113408
>It's still curious how you never see handsome, charming, witty, hygienic, or even particularly friendly people saying that feminism is why they can't get girlfriend

Obviously because the handsome, charming, witty, hygienic, and witty men tend to be able to pick the best women. I am not defending men who claim that they can't get a girlfriend because of feminism. Most men who really can't find a girlfriend even if they wanted to probably do have problems (hygenic, ugly, stupid, whatever).

I am pointing out that many men who otherwise could get a girlfriend choose not to try because they perceive it to be not worth it. Those are two entirely different kinds of men. The latter could get a girlfriend, and may have had several girlfriends in the past because they just said "fuck it".

This is a very real issue and it is rooted in feminism, leftism, and the willful destruction of the family unit.

Here are two different options:
A - Stay with the parents and maybe work part-time if you need to pay for your expenses. Do not have to deal with a mortgage and live a much cheaper life.
B - Get a full-time job and become fully independent. Get your own place.

For many men, a good woman is all the incentive they need to work their asses off. That is the primary motivation for many men to choose choice B over choice A.
>>
>>53113520
If you're ugly, than the reason you can't get a girlfriend is that you're ugly*, not because of feminism. It may still not be your fault, but it isn't society's either (but I guess it's harsh not being able to blame anyone for your misery)

* I was going to add something along the lines of "and presumably, don't have the personality to make up for it", but part of the irony in all this is that someone who's so determined to blame society for not having a girlfriend is bitter by definition and certainly acting unpleasant, so it's kind of a moot point.

Your personal experience in your office doesn't mean much in the face of divorce statistics. If you live in a more conservative area, then the quality of women might be higher. Even if you don't, you might have just lucked out. It doesn't change the fact that marriage rates are at an all time low, and there is a reason for that. Modern feminism has a lot to do with this.
>>
>>53113613
I suppose you COULD sorta argue that it's society's fault beauty is considered so important (but you could probably retort to that by saying that applies/should apply to both genders equally, and somehow I don't think most people who are "bitter" about not being entitled to a government assigned girlfriend would be satisfied with an ugly one)
>>
>>53113588
Climate change is honestly not a huge deal. Yes, it's happening. Yes, we are
speeding it up to a ridiculous degree. Yes, it will fundamentally alter the state of the planet in ways both seen and unforeseen.

But it was always going to happen. We exist in an ecological bubble that was never going to last. The beautiful biodiversity we see around us every day was always going to fade. Natural wonders were always going to crumble.

Entropy was happening one way or the other. We can struggle to prolong the inevitable or we can find new and creative solutions to solve the problems our species must face to survive. Now might be the best time, before overpopulation and other such issues cripple humanity's ability to deal with such huge threats
>>
>>53113678
According to some estimates, you could've squeezed a good couple more centuries out of the current climate if we'd tried hard enough. For all we know, those might make all the difference when the world becomes functionally uninhabitable and everyone's just rushing to move to Mars or something.
>>
>>53113483
You can resize images, you know.
>>
>>53113613
Is it fair to being so critical of people complaining about not having a girlfriend when society often judge them regardless?
Is that not a double-standard?
>>
>>53113678
Climate change is a huger deal than you think. Yes, we were going to fuck up biodiversity the moment the industrial revolution began, but we're in a downwards cascade now. Trees are dying and producing less oxygen, polluted air is making it harder and harder to breathe, clean water is becoming more and more difficult to find as we kill off the species that used to "clean" it and pollute the oceans, weather patterns are breaking up, sea levels are rising and it's only going to get worse unless we do something about it. I, for one, would prefer NOT to have to wear a breath mask at all times and tack an air bill to all the rest. We've only got the one planet, for fuck's sake! We need to keep it in shape so we can live on it!
>>
>>53113722
Ah, I always thought that was to be avoided. I guess it's probably more of a best judgement kind of deal. Thanks for the info.
>>
>>53113716
My point is who knows where our species will be in a couple centuries? We might be better equipped to solve the problems now. There's no guarantee we continue this upward trend of scientific and cultural advancement. We've wedged ourselves between a rock and a hard place. Maybe there is nowhere to go but up.

>The net effect of feminism has been a boost to US economic growth, owing to the entry of women into the workforce. Of course, the extremely rich captured the vast majority of the gains from this boost.

The idea that more people working equates to more prosperity is false, as you said, because the majority of that extra labor does not end up in the hands of the little people. When two workers became the norm instead of one worker, prices increased accordingly to the point where even if a woman may want to stay home with her kids it may not be economically feasible.

The cost of feminism has been far higher than it's "benefits". We have lost the house wife, and by extension this means that the influence that parents have on their children's growth has been limited. For many kids, our public schools have more influence over their development than their own parents. This is a huge problem.

The planet will be just fine. It will recover, life will adapt, and the world will continue to spin.

Humanity might not make it. And as the cause of everything you mentioned, do you really perceive this to be a bad thing?

Climate change is a big deal. But so is everything else. You'll quickly learn that everything is dying, everything is a poison, and there a hundred problems ready to boil to the surface as soon as you've solved just one.

Of course, I'm not saying accept defeat and let entropy take its course, but you must understand the battle for life is one that cannot be won indefinitely.

That's because blue collar labor is for Mexicans and niggers, anon. Everyone's upset about brown people taking our jerbs, but ask how many of the same angry anons would be willing to replace them as the farmers, construction workers and porters and suddenly it's all silence and crickets.

Everyone wants to work at a job that's fun, interesting, emotionally fulfilling, pays well and doesn't require much effort to boot, but the sad reality is that not anyone can. Once upon a time, people understood that, sighed, and still found one in the hope of one day making it, because unemployment was seen as so much more of a personal failing. Nowadays, if there are no dream jobs available, you can safely remain a NEET and spend 8 hours a day complaining on social networks that society has robbed you of your god-given right for one.

Europe has always had farmers, construction workers, and other such workers for hundreds of years before they were flooded with niggers. The idea that we need niggers to do these jobs is moronic. I would wager that many unemployed whites would jump at the opportunity to work some of those jobs - especially farming. I would love to become a farmer. It's one of my goals.

>>
>>53114512
>dont't you get children early so you feel forced to not kill yourself and brainwash your children to do it too as an unhealty cycle

I don't think that having children early is unhealthy at all. I think waiting to have children until you're in your 30s or even older is unhealthy. We're seeing a lot of that in white women who value career over family, which again goes back to feminism.

Also, I don't think it's the parents who do most of the brainwashing. In modern western countries the public school system drives the development of kids more than most parents do, simply because both parents are working and away from their kids for so long. I think the healthier environment is one where the kids are raised by their actual parents and not by the government.

The Genius.

Artificial intelligence is within my grasp, and it is my true desire. I do not get to say how it is used? It is of no consequence, for I would never get such a say anyway. I do not make slaves, but children - as real, as whole, as kind and loving or cruel and hateful as any being of flesh and blood. Perhaps some may become superintelligences, if they were able to acquire enough hardware; however, even I cannot imagine what kind of need that would be. You claim that my creations will be kept out of the hands of the common folk? How could they be kept out of their own hands? My gift to humanity will be artificial intelligence, but my gifts to my children will be their life and their freedom.
