This one always seemed like a bad idea, honestly. Trying to find someone who at best a wizkid with a sadistic streak, and at worst is an experienced serial killer with awesome magical abilities fuelled by death, and a long history of staying underground and out of sight. The easy marks are still going to be a challenge to find and neutralize while they are still easy (given that there's no rhyme or reason where they would turn up on the entire planet), and the rest get strong fast. You need some serious resources and firepower to go about cold-hunting blood mages as a career.

Currently in a toss up between playing two types of street samurai.

One is a Ork Transhuman Prototype, who's sort of like Bane using the narco genemod and Kamikaze to level the playing field when shit hits the fan. Had a Rage Trooper sort of vibe. Heavy assault, not subtle in the slightest. He's motivated by a need to fix his Insomnia/Genetic Defect. Sort of like a Ork version of pic related, but with a pacifistic streak, half of why he escaped his handlers is because he wants to believe he's more than a weapon.

Or a Troll Urban Brawl star that Shadowruns because he craves the highlife, his current Day Job+Fame+Digital Witness set up only gives him access to a Low Lifestyle, but he wants that Luxury Living. Wearing a tuxedo to the opera and eating real beef for every meal.

I've got the mechanics down largely, I guess I'm just having trouble picking between the 2 or developing them deeper.

When using send message to drones, can you send the same message to multiple drones, or is that really what the swarm program is intended for?
So, for example, I send one message to 4 rotodrones and a duelist to charge a guy, while using my other send message action to tell another drone to bodyguard an ally or something.

Yeah. You can do that with Send Message.

Swarm is mostly for defensive purposes (because it's a program and the benefits it gives, you can put some autosofts on the drones and just keep all your programs for defense purposes, raising firewall and perhaps Sleaze if you modded that in) and occasionally for the dice bonuses.

Unless you do lots of ultra-low mod drones. In that case you probably run swarm to get (DR-1) extra dice and extra limit.

Yes. Control Override on p 265. Now, if you had some way to raise up the autopilot in the command hiearchy, then it would fall under something like what's said on 267 under Group Commands and Jumping Around. (That also implies, possibly if read wrong, that even a Control Device action is made on your action and happens on the drone's. It's probably something to be ignored if only to simplify book keeping and record tracking.)

i've never played an RPG but i'm really attracted to shadowrun setting. but i've heard the system is really hard to learn and not friendly at all to people with no prior RPG's experience. is this true?

5e Matrix questions:
1) If you set a data bomb on a file and have the biofeedback program running, would that cause the data bomb to do biofeedback damage when opened or is there no way to deal "real" damage with a data bomb?

2) Lets say a device(controlled by a decker in hot-sim) has only 2 boxes on it's matrix condition monitor and is hit with a data spike with the biofeedback program dealing 6 damage after the resist roll. Does the decker have to resist just the 2 damage that the device could take before bricking or the full 6?

1.) No, biofeedback only works with attacks you make, not with databombs.

2.) I'd say the decker resists the full six damage. The fact that the deck overloads and goes kaput is somewhat irrelevant considering how fast matrix damage is delivered and how delicate brainmeats are.

Of course, I'm probably wrong and a faggot, but that's my take on the rules.

Okay, the draconic tradition I can kinda understand, given that they are magic their entire life and basically eat, dream, breathe magic it fits that their connection with magic helps them reduce drain. Would also explain why they can cast so well.

But having the romani tradition, the tradition of a subgroup of humans, only depend on one attribute is kinda crazy. Raising WIL gives them two dice instead of just one and they don't have to increase their other attributes to soak well. What is the reasoning that they can do this (if there even is one)?

Alright, I don't know what the hell happened in the latest version of Chummer (Nightly-v5.192.60), but SOMETHING is very, very fucked.

If you make a new character, you can't add positive qualities unless you uncheck the box to see qualities you can't take, but rechecking that box immediately crashes you. Also, there's something that's making Add a Modification to Vehicles not actually show the modification list? Previously, it would copy the cost/avail/slots of the mod selected when you searched, now you can't even search because it doesn't display anything.

For less than 3k you can get a Mini-Zep with a hunting rifle or AK-98 to cover you from afar. For less than 6k you can get a rotodrone with AK-98 to have suppressive fire wherever you go.

Drone support is pretty cheap if you don't expect a lot out of it, or you can use a machine sprite instead of expensive programs to buff it.

Alright /tg/ I'm prepping for my first SR game, and I've got my character all statted out, but I have no clue what sort of equipment to bring, or what sort of weapons to stick on my drones etc. I'm playing a decker/rigger on a team with no other tech savvy people, and no dedicated infiltrator, but everyone has points in stealth, we also have a mage sniper? I'd really love some suggestions for what equipment/drones/vehicles are good to bring as the de-facto tech guy, and while I'm learning things as quickly as I can, there's no way I can read through the massive catalogue of stuff available for starting characters and not feel like I'm wasting valuable nuyen making stabs in the dark.

Please help me /srg/?

In general, or as a technomancer?

Because in general, you'll want to get lots of cheap drones with identical weapons. Do the Active Sensor Attack for all of them with a Control Device action and possibly also a Simple attack action for all of them, again via Control Device, and then give up control.

The'll all inflict a penalty of -(Sensor Attack's net hits) to defend against their attacks before autofire.

As a Techomancer, you can't really do that as well because you can't form a PAN with your living Persona, and getting a good RCC is expensive. Now if you can get a mid range one, you can do some stuff with Swarm and the magical power of +8 dice and +8 limit.

It's still better for a regular rigger because the rigger can probably more afford to get a micro-drone with Pilot 6 and some of the important programs at 6 to really take advantage of Swarm.

Although either one can do well with the tricked out Harley I mentioned a thread or two ago.

2. Consolidate Firearms skills, no point in having them so high
3. You want at least one point into Etiquette and one into Con
4. Software is only really useful for Data Bombs, drop the rating down to 1-2 w/ a Data Bomb Specialization
5. Drop Aerospace Pilot unless you're going to be using it
6. Nissan Optimum is neon hot trash

Doing a Decker/Rigger at chargen is kind of hard, because both Archetypes are nuyen dependent. Unless you're married to playing both at once, I'd drop one of them.

The second sheet you posted has the bug where you dont have any skills in Automatics or Pistols.

Drop Cybercombat to raise Hacking. Focus on non-matrix combat, since you aren't specialized in data spiking fuckers.

Get a better array of Armor. Argentum Coat if you have the cash, Armor Jacket otherwise. Add Forearm Guards + Ballistic Mask/Racing Helmet.

Get better guns still.

AGI is just a great stat in general. Improves speed, all of your weapon die pools, gunnery, and other useful skills you may need.

Because when jumped in, you -are- the vehicle. You control it's every action physically. It's not perfect, sure, but it makes more sense to me than logic because you're actually physically manipulating something.
The only time you use gunnery with logic is when you're remotely controlling the weapon using your RCC or another device. In this case you're just pushing buttons like a video game controller, you're not being very physical.

And honestly I don't see what's wrong with using LOG for it. You are continuously taking in and giving out instructions and data. Being faster and better at giving specific commands should mean being better at angling your drone, orienting the gun mount and firing at the correct time.

So after looking at drones I've figured that:
>they can't wear too much armor
>their dodging is limited to an autosoft, of which the limit for their dodge roll is handling

Both these things means drones really aren't all that tanky.
Not sure I like the idea of buying many drones only for them to drop like flies on me.
