Damn I hate nuwars. I'm done paying hollywood to force political opinions down my throat.

Women are not strong
Women are not heroes
Women are not determined or inspiring

They are verifiably, factually and demonstrably less intelligent, less inspired, less ingenious and less capable than men in almost every field. I am not now nor will I ever swallow the feminist pill of equality because the two genders very simply are not equal.

That is why I didn't like it. Because Rey and Jyn were the protagonist. I don't want that, I don't need that and I have had enough of Star Wars in my life if that's the way the franchise is going.

>>
>>52986067
Lasers are still the primary weapon of most starfighters in the franchise. Probably because they're cooler to look at, the laser bolt assets are already there, and production teams are too lazy/strapped for time/strapped for resources to create CGI missiles.

In Legends, at least, ordnance was expensive, often prone to shortages in the Rebellion/New Republic era, and unreliable. Nearly every starfighter in the galaxy was loaded to the gills with ECM, making long-range missile combat nearly impossible. Missiles were still slow and sluggish enough to be shot down by a sufficiently skilled pilot, too.

Ranged Light or Heavy ?
For Light: Disruptor Pistol, Ionization Blaster, Czerka Dragonstrike, Underbarrel Grenade Launcher (or some wrist mounted mini torpedoes), Underbarrel Flame Projector, Melee weapon to taste.

On a sidenote, the CorpSec riot gun with a spread barrel attachment is my fav weapon. Sweet full-auto+blast+stun setting combo. I just love crowd control and police brutality.

Palpatine
Crack Shot
TIE/x1
Advanced Targeting Computer
Ruthlessness
R2-D2 (which everyone has already....)

And I have seen the original art for mk2 engines

How many are you printing? I would potentially want some copies of crack shot (either 1 or 6) and 1 copy of each of the TIE advanced cards.

How much would you want for those?

Do you want me to make a mk2 engines for you?

Ok how about actual disscussion:
Rebel filler ships, say you've got about 20 points left in your Rebel squadron, what do you bring? A-wing, z-95, stolen TIE? whats worked out for you?

I've only tried A-wings, with limited success. a prototype pilot blocker worked pretty well, but I tried to just stick a snap crack A-wing in a list and it went terribly. I want to try either a Z-95 with homing missles or captian rex, although I have no idea how to kit him

Ahsoka with VI and Captured TIE is really good, especially if you have ships that can reposition. A boost or roll at effectively PS13 is great.

Blount with ion/adv homing is neat.

Gold squadron w/ autoblaster and R4-D6 is surprisingly irritating.

How good are the official EotE adventure modules? I might be running my first game soon and would like to use something premade while we all get a feel for it.

Any recommendations or ones to stay away from? And could you run AoR/FaD adventures with an EotE party?
>>
>>52988684
You betcha
>>
>>52988846
They're pretty decent in my (admittedly limited) experience.
And yes, you can run the adventures since the systems are all completely interchangeable.

The only issue is that the stories are tailored to their system.

So the AoR premades are about fucking the empire, and the FaD ones are about the force and jedi.

Easy enough to use for whatever group you want to run, but the basic story / design might need some repurposing.

Those that I've seen were really meh. Basic encounters linked with a few threads, not much. The heist one was better, but not by much.
AoR and EotE are completely interchangeable, but aside from a couple powerlevels tweaks, you can put a regular party in a FaD module and vice versa.

My only issue with Rich is that he seems very close-minded, especially when it comes to SW. As far as I can tell he dismisses any SW media that's not the films, despite not being too well-informed.

Whenever anybody brings up stuff outside of the films he usually mentions a few things as evidence for all non-film SW media being trash. Usually it's the Ysalamiri, or Vader's suit being trash. Which is to say, stuff that's no-longer canon.

Jay is probably the most intelligent of the group, but his film tastes get a little artsy fartsy and experimental for me. Mike is also well educated (film school and all) and has good timing, but sacrifices his opinion and clarity of voice for the sake of making jokes, so it's a little hard to find his actual opinion. Overall his taste in things is a lot like my own. I actually really like Jack, he has been getting better at being less soft-spoken. His videogame series with Rich is pretty good though long-winded. Rich is a funnyman, hard to take seriously but a good punching bag for the rest of the crew. We never see Josh anymore and that's a great thing.
Fuck max Landis, not only is he an annoying prick on camera, he can't write for shit. He's a fucking crybaby who makes his peers look like entitled fucks. >Y'know, I have to wonder if anyone on the RLM team actually like any aspect of the old Star Wars EU.

Rich (and maybe Josh) probably does, Mike and Jay have probably never engaged with it whatsoever.

>>52989734
I think that probably happens because Rich has a deceptively thin skin for shit coming from the fans, and the most often scenario in which the EU is brought up is as context to a conversation about a flaw in the movies, which prompts him to (rightly) dismiss it as bullshit.

>>
>>52990285
It's really not that hard. Aside from the two or three movie villains and a handful of elites in Legends most Imperials are pretty reasonable guys, and it wouldn't be hard to make them sympathetic.

One idea would be:
>ISB agent on Outer Rim world
>Rebels want him dead - if it's AoR the players are tasked with killing him, if it's EotE the players get an offer from the Rebels to take him out for cash, or an offer from the ISB to protect him for cash
>They learn that he's been severely cutting crime down on the world and has been enacting rightful justice on wrongdoing.
>Rebels want him dead to intentionally destabilize the planet
>want players to destroy his documents of proof of Rebel atrocities and terror efforts on the planet and instead frame the Imperials for committing them

For a Rebel party, this would probably be a very dramatic moment, and it's nice to see the stories of Rebels who turncoated to the Empire, since that happened too.

For an Edge party, this might be less dramatic, since they're either in it for the money and kill him anyway or take the money and turn against their former Rebel employers.

In universe hovertanks couldn't traverse shielding, walkers could be hardened against it and were grounded. Kind of like how the AAT or LAAT/i couldn't pass through shields in TPM or TCW, but the droids, clones and AT-TE could. Something something technobabble.
>>
>>52991182
This is Legends, but:
1. The Empire wasn't heavily reliant on walkers. The AT-ST and AT-AT are the only ones they made the heaviest use of. They had a fairly balanced ratio of other vehicles, hovervehicles, and walkers.
2. AT-STs and AT-ATs were quite good, but had weaknesses. AT-STs had excellent terrain negotiation, but could be tripped. However, they still were heavily armored and well-equipped, and could navigate urban and jungle environments that regular hovertanks couldn't. They were also quite fast. AT-ATs were extremely heavily armored and armed, and could carry 40-something troopers for deployments. Their cannons were roughly turbolaser power, and when later units got shields, they were almost unstoppable.

2. Hover technology was expensive and unreliable overall. It had a nasty tendency to stop working at the worst possible moments. This is what led both the Empire and Alliance to often "upgrade" their hover vehicles with regular treaded vehicles, because hovertech required huge amounts of power and maintenance to keep up. Walkers didn't.
>>
>>52991249
General Veers says something about it in ESB too, they have to land AT-AT outside of the Rebel base and walk in. If Ozzel hadn't jumped in too close to the system and alerted Echo Base, they could have pounded it from orbit or flown transports directly in to the base.

The design crew on ESB decided walkers looked good, and lent the Empire a menacing aesthetic for the cowboy-samurai remake of Flash Gordon vs. The Space Nazis they were working on.

As tactically unsound as the stormtroopers surrounding him were I liked that the human shield kept screaming and none of the shots breached the chestplate.

Seemed like they turned down the power somewhat precisely so they had to worry less about friendly fire when shooting the unarmored priest. Maybe it's even automatic friend or foe detection in the scope?

(See this comment actually relates to games since it's talking about tech and situations a player may end up in.)
>>
>>52991297
Eh, if the rebels had half a brain that shield was on from the moment they detected the probe droid. Vader was just still mad at Ozzel for dismissing the data from the probe droid and nearly making them miss the planet completely if Vader hadn't overheard Piett arguing with him.

Shit, a game store next to uni should be a money printer. Get some semi-intelligent students on the floor as your day staff, don't have 6 owners (holy shit, most FLGS' near me don't have 8 people on staff), and do past-midnight events, with a cooler full of drinks and snacks.
>>
>>52992806
As with most stores, they use MTG as their main revenue source- The issue is that they said that they didn't want to disrupt the existing MTG groups on campus. There's a group in the student center that does a 36 hour MTG meetup every week, and usually get 60 people. I was thinking "Hey, why don't you hire the university employee who runs that, and have them do that in the store". They decided to close early on those days instead.

for X-wing, i kept trying to get them to try to get tournaments running, but it went nowhere. I ended up just getting 6 playmats printed for myself so that I can run a tournament on my own (I ended up giving them away, but to people that would be playing Xwing at those tournaments) once they shut down.

Also, they are next door to a Sheetz (Cheap restaurant with snacks) so they can't really win a price war with them on food/drinks.
>>
>>52992894

so they picked a horrible location, didn't do a deal with the food vendor to sell their product on game nights, and doesn't want to compete with local games? ...did they study business?
>>

They didn't have much of a choice on location- If anything, being next to a Sheetz would draw in passerby.

How popular would a rebel cell member be if the y somehow kill the Emperor. Will they be immortalized? Same if some Stormtrooper killed Mon Mothma and brought her head before the emperor

In either case, he'd get a promotion and a little party or whatever, maybe his name would get remembered in history books and shit. Try to imagine if there was a GI who somehow killed Hitler. He would be widely celebrated in his time, but fade into history and business as usual pretty quickly. The assassin never attains more notoriety than the guy he killed.

Being someone who still hasn't had the chance to play in a store tourney (just started recently but I'm studying the meta and general strategy), are TIE swarms still common? I rarely hear about them anymore.
>>
>>52995687
They're still pretty tough, though they've fallen a bit out of favor competitively. They're harder for the Imperial player to fly (due to how many ships there are to be mindful of), but in the hands of an experienced player, they can devastate some of the smaller squads that are common right now since they're just so good at jousting. They take some real skill to beat without a tailored list and they aren't uncommon among newer players.
>>
>>52995353

Yep. They'll get their medals, be named the Hero of the Alliance/Empire, get recognized, maybe appear in the media, but fifty years later they'll be a historical footnote at best.

Ewoks are basically a sanitized, less-racist version of the "Fierce Cannibal Pygmy" trope. They're small and primitive, but exceptionally fearsome when they're angry.
And remember, that's basically an Ewok army plus a platoon of Rebel commandos attacking the lightly defended back door of the shield installation. And the Imperials are still holding their own until Chewie captures that walker.
>>52990285
Have them fight someone equally bad or worse than them.
Storm Troopers vs. Hutt Cartels, the Stormies are arguably the good guys. Fascist thugs, sure, but at least they aren't a bunch of goddamn slugs selling drugs and pimping unwilling Twileks across the galaxy.
You can also go with the honorable opponent/samurai-like sense of loyalty. An older commander might be fanatically loyal to Palpatine, seeing him as the man who saved the Old Republic from the corrupt Jedi and the Separatist menace. Or maybe an Inquisitor from a warrior culture has a Wookie Life Debt situation with whoever his master is. No matter how vile his orders are, loyalty and obedience take priority over everything else.

Just have the Imperials be the good guys, damn. There doesn't need to be fifty strings attached. You're soldiers of a government fighting a terrorist organization, it's that simple. You don't need muddled motives and "imperial but kinda not and not fans of Palpatine and" shut up and just make the Imperials the heroes.

We deserve it, considering at the very most 1 in 8 pieces of Legends canon or stories feature Imperials as the protagonists.

The Empire started as a system of government created by Palpatine and is made to crumble if he ever died, Palp was also an evil bastard who recruited yet more evil bastards in order to run his evil bastard Empire, and hen the Empire did crumble, all the evil bastards died and all the good people eventually got into command. The Empire DOES have good people, they're just the exception rather than the rule.

If you're playing an Imperial and you want them to be the hero, then you either need to work in a system where mass genocide is heroic, or you need to work in a system where your actions are contrary to the norm.

So, playing imperials as the heroes either means you need to repaint what counts as heroic, or they need to not be on board with a bunch of fucked up shit the Empire does as a matter of course.

Why is the Empire evil?
Why is the Alliance good?
In the movies, you see mostly the two interacting with each other and ignoring the general population, and in other works, depending on the author, both sides range from paladins to dickish demons (often unintentionally, in the Alliance's case).
>>
>>53000758
The empire is evil because it's led by an evil asshole who is a member of a religion of pure evil and gains power by feeding the misery and suffering of others not to mention he hires genocidal maniacs to work under him.
>>
>>53000758

>you mostly see the two interacting with each other and ignoring the general population

Yeah, so we have to extrapolate from what little we do see or hear.

1) Empire destroys entire planet
That reflects pretty badly on what they think of civilians, and how they treat them in general as 'acceptable losses' to dick on the rebels a little
>Rebellion does nothing even close to this.

2) Empire destroys Jedha City, wiping out an unknown number of people in the city and probably on the planet with that much particulate thrown into the atmopshere. See above, reflects badly on their feels about civvies and acceptable collateral.
>Rebellion doesnt do anything approaching this.

3) Empire destroys a building becuase there's a rebel sniper in a higher storey of it. Again, doesnt reflect well.
>Rebellion doesnt do anything like this.

The closest the rebellion get to being shitty towards civvies is Saw's group of disavowed guerillas who start a fight in the middle of a city and dont try and clear the area. Which, yes, reflects badly on them (as non-Alliance members but as rebels in the eyes of the populace), but isnt on even the same scale.

Hence, if you want to play Imperials as heroic, you either need to re-brand what counts as heroic, or they need to not be your average imperials as depicted in the Star Wars films.
And that's fine.
Good people working inside a shitty organisation is a tried-and-true trope of all sorts of fiction and can work great.

See Babylon 5, see Stargate SG1 when they had to go up against US politics.

>>53000933

Tarkin did Alderaan, Krennic did Jedha, random Stormtrooper commander blew up a building.

Also worth noting that there's an entire room of officers right there when they wipe out a city - none of them complain. None of them even pause for a moment.
They shake hands and congratulate each other.
Krennic specifically remarks that the destruction of the city is 'beautiful'.

Seems fair to assume that at least the leadership pool of the empire are pure evil - presumably becuase that's who gets promoted under a man like Palpy.

>war by proxy
Im not sure you understand what that means.
There was no proxying going on. They just persuaded the Ewoks to help them out, and they did so. The Rebels were on the front line just as much as the Ewoks were, and in fact, went in without them at first.

Plus the main method of getting promotions seemed to be betrayal and ass-kissing, most especially at flag rank, and decent officers couldn't keep up in that environment.
Take Pellaeon, the archetypal decent imperial. He held captain's rank for nearly THIRTY YEARS, and he only got that far because that was what rank the republic had promoted him to during the clone wars, and this was because he was noted for his total refusal to play all the political games that his peers who made it to the admiralty did

By Wallace.

>trandoshans are pissed off and begin raiding settlements
>stormtrooper assault on entrenched raiders, use flamethrowers
>Wedge comments that since the trandoshans aren't allied with the rebels, they didn't know about it, otherwise they would have helped
To be fair, it's a report from an imperial PoV, but it lacks any implication of evil-doing aside from aggressive settling.

I don't know if NuCanon enforces this as much, but in Legends it was pretty obvious that Mon Mothma and Bail Organa only started the Rebellion because of greed and want of personal power.

Now, I'm not saying Empire dindu nuffin, but it's true Legends-wise that the Rebellion was run by some shitty people, and it was why it didn't do well post-Endor.

Most notably /ourguy/ Garm called Mothma out on her bullshit. Interestingly enough, the "kindhearted leader of the Rebellion" in propaganda elected to have him and his supporters killed by throwing them into a suicide mission (in which nearly everyone but Garm did die horribly) then cutting all ties with him.

In E.U. Vader promoted Piett to Admiral not just because of Ozzel's failure, but because he believed that Piett's skills as a naval officer rivaled the Grand Admirals themselves, and had the Executor been allowed to fight at Endor, would've wiped out the Rebel fleet simply because of firepower and superior abilities over Ackbar.

Then you have dudes like Needa who are nice and respected.

When Vader's around everyone kisses his ass. When he isn't the Empire really isn't backstabby, treacherous, or asskissy, no more than any normal government in our own world.

Yoda's not the word of god. They also couldn't sense anything or use the Force fully.

It's completely possible that Yoda was only speculating that suffering fed the Dark Side, since the PT Jedi Order had a very narrow and corrupted view of the Force and its workings.

The Dark Side feeds off passion and unbridled ambition, not the suffering or malevolence of others, though some evil men tap into it and twist their passion into powerful evil.

Yoda's comments aren't necessarily canon factuality, but his opinions on the matter.

That's not true at all, because if we're going by the E.U. Palpatine wrote letters and private memoirs, memoirs only he or his descendants would ever read, talking about how he thought he was doing the right thing, how the Sith would bring peace, and how the Empire would save the galaxy from coming doom (often interpreted as the Vong Invasion). If he were pure evil and only made the Empire to cause suffering, why make an Empire to begin with? He had unlimited Chancellor powers in the Republic. Just keep the war going forever. Why would you establish a new government based on order, peace, and defense if you want to cause pure suffering? Why would you write in private notes that you thought you were doing the good thing? Why wouldn't he just right "kicked another puppy today ehehehe so good to be the Emperor"?

There are more holes in the theory of Palpatine using the Empire to form misery than swiss cheese downrange from a machine gun.

I think they've got the main Redili Customs Corvette statted in EotE core, the Rendili Customs Frigate (Actually smaller than the corvette because Rendili was 'avin a laff) in Fly Casual, the IPV-1 patrol ship has some EXTREMELY janky stats in that one adventure book where you're hunting down the crashed CIS treasure ship. (They gave its light Turbolasers the damage stats of heavy turbos on a light turbolaser recharge rate.) I think SOMETHING has the stats on the Guardian patrol vessel but I don't remember where.

The Vigil Class corvette is also in either EotE or I think AoR core, and the Raider Corvette is in Friends Like These, but is mainly a navy asset not used on customs patrols.

Not sure if anything has the Arquitens Light Cruiser or the imperial version of the Gozanti, but the base Gozanti is in AoR core and at least one of the EotE splats, just remove the side guns, increase the armor/hull, increase speed, replace the Torpedo with a concussion missile tube, and replace the quads with one dual medium and one heavy laser then give it four docking clamps.

Ulic is forgiven after spending over a decade in exile without the force and saving a child.

And he dies at the end.

>>53004629
Ulic DID help Exar use whatserhface to blow up like five suns.

KJA blows up waaaaaay too many suns.

>Risking your life for another isn't good
>Sith aren't always evil
Hahahahahahaahahaha No more please I beg of you. Hux
>>
>>53004694
Thank you, thank you. I'll probably keep it up.

Ulic was a trained Jedi before is fall.
Kyp was a kid.
Also, he only wrecked imperial worlds and everybody knows they were filled with evil people, ANH opening crawl said so.

He risked his life, cool, but the effect would've been the same had it been for anyone. He could've risked his life to save Palpatine and it'd have been just as heroic. Caveating him saving a Jedi isn't necessary.
>>
>>53004826
Nah, the whole kyp gets redeemed thing was very stupid.
>>
>>53003129
Pretty much.

>>53004827
Yeah it's not like they were the victims of mass-murder or anything, basically the same a saving a serial rapist you're right.

>Why would you establish a new government based on order, peace, and defense if you want to cause pure suffering?
Yeah because saying something is what your government is all about is exactly the same as that being the case. See also China, USSR, DPRK, Nazi germany, literally every authoritarian regime ever, etc etc

>He had unlimited Chancellor powers in the Republic
No he had extensive emergency powers. That's definitely not the same thing. His goal was to slowly erode the Republic and it's institutions which was the reason he staged a galactic war in the first place. Plus there were people in the Senate who pretty easily connected the dots of how corruption in the government was increasing at the same time that he was gaining power, and realized that he was fomenting the corruption on purpose to strengthen his own position. Once the war finished people would realize that the problems that caused the war hadn't been solved and in fact had only gotten worse, and then he wouldn't be able to play the "emergency powers" card as easily. Better to claim real power de jure and de facto while in the perfect situation.

Last but certainly not least, for the Sith the Jedi and the Republic represented everything that had fought against for millenia. To completely destroy the Jedi and Republic at the same time, while simultaneously getting people to openly call for the establishment of Empire, something that both hated entities had fought against had to give Palpatine a fuck ton of satisfaction.

What hook do I use to get a group of ne'er-do-wells on to a Venater hulk?

Old Clone Wars war equipment which can be easily fixed up and sold on to some outer rim tinpot dictator or defence fleet.

Captured CIS superweapon, the same.

Experimental hyperdrive which is why the ship was missing until now - no one knew where it jumped to.

The Jedi General who shouldve been aboard when it died had a holocron and lightsaber in his possession and a rich collector wants them both.
Whether the jedi is 1) there 2) dead is a matter of debate.

Literally two or three functional fighters or an intact couple of heavy blasters from the marine detachment's arsenal would be a haul worth more than they probably make in a year. Money from salvage is always a good motivation

If you're going to make a new thread link to it moron.
