Who wouldn't want to help the rulers of the galaxy claim what is rightfully theirs?

In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind charting unknown systems, delving into ruins in search of precursor artifacts, battling vicious beasts and hellish machines, matching wits with deadly rivals, subverting the plans of cruel warlords, and fighting for existence itself against threats from beyond the stars.

And maybe save an alien princess or two somewhere along the way.

... their biggest problem is complete incompatibility with not having everything be just the giant robot rules.

So either the entire party does it or no one does. There's not even WBL replacement or class replacing or anything of the sort to measure up or gauge with.

It's functional enough if you can find a place for it though.

Honestly? Once I start getting into 4th level spells, I just leave them empty, or fill them out with magic missile and meta-magic versions of such.

Magic missile is a fun spell (RIP magic missile storm), and leaving lower level stuff empty means you can spend 15 or so minutes to get whatever you need if you have the time.

I also had a nice GM who let me make custom magic items, so I had a magic book of various 1/day spells like Featherfall or Secret Grimoire

Depends entirely on what rules you're using for feeding. Bestiary vampires don't need to feed at all, since it's not a listed quality, but that's not really ideal and kinda defeats the point of using vampires.

Blood of the Night's rules for vampire feeding tell us they can subsist indefinitely on animal blood, but they don't get any of the benefits of feeding on intelligent creatures (save bonuses, tracking bonus, treating creatures as very familiar for spellcasting). Any vampire can survive indefinitely without feeding, but if they go more than HD-days without feeding they suffer stacking penalties that end up pretty crippling to a bunch of stuff (like -10 Str/Cha) and are compelled to feed no matter the circumstances if they see an opportunity.

Lords of the Night says they have to deal ~20 damage with their bite attack each night or else they start suffering minor penalties that don't really amount to much. Not really a good way to go, mechanically, since it means a given vampire has to fang bang like two or three peasants a night to get along without penalties, which is kinda ridiculous.
>>
>>52945955
Particularly I go with "The Oldest/More Powerful they are, they more they need to eat." A Newly turn can feed on a person, just a non lethal amount, every couple days. Meaning that if he can rotate through let's say, 4 willing subjects, that would give the first enough time to recover and so son, so he could feast on the same undefinetely. Whoever, his needs would gradually increase to the point where a 100 year old vampire would need to feast the same amount everyday, and would crave more than that. A 200 year old vampire would need to feast daily in the equivalent of at least half of all the blood a person has, which is lethal. And from them on, the rule of thumb is doubling their need every 100 years. Meaning a 50% increase every 50.

Neophyte Base: 1 dose (person 1/8th blood) 1/4 days

50 years: 1 / 2 days

100 years: 1 / day

150 years: 2 / day

200 years: 4 / day (fully lethal if single target)

250 years: 8 / day

300 years: 16 / day

350 years: 32 / day

400 years: 64 / day

450 years: 128 / day

500 years: 256 / day

So a 500 year old vampire just dessicates a village and moves on to the next because he's already starting to feel peckish.

That's so dumb. A vampire of 500 years would have to have a little over 1000 willing subjects to rotate through in order to ever settle anywhere and allow of full recovery of the subjects, and then he would basically be on Santa schedule, sipping from 10 and a half subjects an hour, more if he wants free time. Dunno how long you imagine it takes to greet a subject and drink from them, but it has to take less than 6 minutes if he wants time for other stuff.

Of course, the vampire of that level may not be concerned about the well-being of subjects and might opt for slowly killing 250-500 prisoners/slaves to save time sipping and get more time for maniacal laughter and coffin naps, but then he would start diminishing his food supply, which has to be balanced with population growth (I assume this vampire has some big castle with a city of oppressed or ignorant townsfolk below). Still a lot of time spent chugging either way. One dose as represented in your example would be around 24-30 oz. No matter what you do about sustainability/subjects, 500 year old Vlad needs to go through 250 Big Gulps a day.

Assuming he goes for the murderous vagabond path instead, that means 32 people dead a day at the most extreme (full drain). Better hope there's a lot of villagers cause he's gonna go through 11,680 to reach 501 years old. Either way he'll run out of villages and/or attract extreme levels of attention before long. Say hello to the Paladins, Vlad! Which makes you wonder how such a creature even manages to get to that age. It's quite impressive and a lot of hard work.

Serax, the petty thief with no dad

>Born to a Tiefling mom who "travelled often, performing and singing for others" aka basically a high class whore
>Absentee dad who made like a nigger and ran after conception
>Mom taught him to play lute as a kid
>he was autistic about climbing stuff
>then mom teaches him how to steal shit
>Serax keeps failing and they keep having to move
>mom slowly becomes a helicopter parent and Serax runs away
>...and that's it.

UndeadBabyDragon, is this an actual application or are you trying to share something with us? I feel bad because I think I got trolled.
If this is a serious app, expand the backstory to actually include "how it came to this", fix up the grammar, and expand his personality. In other words, fix literally everything.

Concept [ 3 / 10 ] - It's like he's a nigger or something, I think that's what he was going for.
Backstory [ 1 / 10 ] - The only reason it's not 0 / 10 is because it exists, I'm not even going to say "it tries" because it doesn't.
Ambition [ 0 / 10 ] - It literally doesn't exist.
Villainy [ 1 / 10 ]- I mean he's a petty thief, which is better than nothing I guess?
Party Value [ 4 / 10 ] - I mean he's got the basic rogue / utility / off-face stuff down but I'm really not seeing a niche for him in most parties. He can probably fill a lot of gaps if they exist and is useful if you have to split the party, I suppose.
Sexy [ 2 / 10 ] - Not seeing it.

Sinh, the #stylish Red Dragon

>is a Dragon
>his family, being dragons, were also nobles and rulers
>but Sinh is born just as the rebellion starts, Vivat Imperium Hūmānus, and kicks out all the dragons
>he grew up listening to stories from his mom, who flies off into battle one day and doesn't come back
>so Sinh, because he's young and weak, runs
>obviously Sinh is not a fan of running as a dragon
>so he wants to take back what he considers his birthright and is looking for help to (re)conquer the Empire

Alright, so the backstory is split into two parts in this app. Together, they're still short, but they give enough of an idea about what happened and what he wants. I suggest, though, expanding either the HDICtT section or the personality section or both, to give a little more insight into his character. This is actually a good example of a short app, but I'd like to know more about his person. What are his hobbies, what else is there to his character, is there anyone who he bears a specific grudge against, etc.

Concept [ 5 / 10 ] - It'd be a 4/10 for being a generic 'noble who wants his shit back' app, but I'm giving it bonus points for tying into the setting.
Backstory [ 6 / 10 ] - Short but effective, although more details would help.
Ambition [ 8 / 10 ] - Another would-be Empire-toppling player.
Villainy [ 3 / 10 ]- We're told he's greedy, but he's not at all evil. In fact, he's even one of those "muh nakama" types, judging from his personality.
Party Value [ 8 / 10 ] - T. Dragon's advancement will eventually make him more or less invincible; he gets +1 nat armor every level. Antipaladin gives good support and damage and his stats are solid all around for what he's going for, the classic frontline dragon.
Sexy [ 8 / 10 ] - He's (flaming) hot.

This checks out so well with the meme negroid that all that's missing is an especial fondness for chicken and watermelon, I'm not even sure if it's just a coincidence because the app itself has so little substance to it otherwise. I'm literally using it in reference to the meme, it'd be like someone making a character who's a god at math, wears glasses seven inches thick, and is king at rts games and me calling him a gook because it's so obvious that's what he is.

Giles, shapeshifter on the run

>family is an old lineage with Dragon blood who uses their sorcerer powers to make loads of fucking dosh
>Giles isn't a good sorcerer, so his dad finds some old Wizard to tutor him
>Giles likes the old Wizard
>he likes travelling, discovering new things, seeing new places
>Wizard finds that Giles is good at shapeshifting, alchemy, and science in general
>Giles finishes his apprenticeship and goes home but, owo what's this? His family home is a pile of rubble - there was a traitor amongst them during the war!
>The new lord tries to execute him, but Giles uses his powah to escape! What will brave Giles do next? Find out the first session!

Solid backstory with lots of hooks and ambition through the roof. If I had a suggestion, it'd be to expand on his personality beyond his ambition and his 'faces'. Besides his motivation for revenge, all we get is wanderlust. Is there anything else or is that just it?

Concept [ 5 / 10 ] - Nothing special but solid nonetheless.
Backstory [ 9 / 10 ] - I like it, a lot. The concept itself of 'guy who got fucked for no fault of his own' is hardly rare but this one is pretty well-done. Hardly any complaints, and the addition of a named mentor is a nice touch.
Ambition [ 9.5 / 10 ] - He wants to topple the empire but that's not all. He also wants to see the world, he wants to start anew, he wants to prosper, and he wants to topple the empire, and he'll do it by becoming a dragon.
Villainy [ ? / 10 ] - Giles is pretty unique; he's a nice guy who got put in a bad place. Hard to rank, because the backstory and personality sections make it sound like he's going to degenerate and degenerate fast - but that won't happen until later, so it could really be anything from 0/10 to 7-8/10.
Party Value [ 5 / 10 ] - Supposedly he's a frontliner, but I'm not really seeing it; he looks more like a support character with high survivability to me.
Sexy [ 4 / 10 ] - Nothing really going for him here either way.

Fierna the Flamegirl
>once there was a Mad City ruled by the Mad Duke (insert some random chesire cat line here)
>the mad city gets attacked during the war as an example of 'chaos' and 'lawlessness' that the new empire is going to eradicate
>the mad duke, being mad, summons a bunch of efreet and janni to basically torch the place and bring him into the Brass City where he finds a new waifu
>Fierna is the youngest kid, but she's too wild to survive well in the Brass City
>so the Mad Duke sends her off to the material plane "to reclaim their old land"

I like the idea, but the backstory needs to focus more on Fierna herself. As it is, it mostly serves to explain and give context to why an ifrit would be mucking around in the Material Plane stirring shit in the first place. That being said, a legitimate outsider who's never been to the material plane is pretty unique as a concept. Her personality could use clarification; is she really a complete hedonist? Does she legit subscribe to DWTWSBtWotL, or does she have lines she won't cross? The story of her burning down an entire inn because someone groped her ass seems to imply 'no', in which case, isn't she Chaotic Evil, not Neutral?

Concept [ 8 / 10 ] - A literal outsider and a complete hedonist; both unique among the apps as far as I can tell.
Backstory [ 4 / 10 ] - There needs to be more about Fierna.
Ambition [ 3 / 10 ] - Honestly doen't seem to have any beyond what daddy told her, and I'm not wholly convinced that she actually cares.
Villainy [ 7 / 10 ] - "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law." While nothing new, it remains dangerous as fuck, especially since the personality section makes her sound very close to Chaotic Evil.
Party Value [ 6 / 10 ] - Seems to mainly be a frontline skirmish with the ability to cover other roles as needed. Her semiflexiblity means she'll be valuable to most parties even if they already have a frontliner.
Sexy [ 8 / 10 ] - MONS is rising, buy buy buy~

They're not true hedonists as described, more like degenerates. Fierna is described as an actual CE hedonist "because I felt like it" hedonist without any rhyme or reason.
Half succubus barely knows what's happening to her.
Cultist succubus isn't a real hedonist, since Shub-Niggaruth isn't really Slaanesh and she's obssessed with children and not being forgotten or something. She doesn't live in the moment.
Knight Succ comes close but she's concerned with ruling the fucking world, she acts more like a Devil than a succubus.
I have no idea what Succubed should be called, but I doubt hedonists are known for their fetish of being used as a waterbed.

I thought hedonism was just the pursuit of pleasure and comfort, while avoiding pain or hardship when possible (which might be epicurean?)

So why do people take hedonistic and assume they need to go full-degeneracy in their pursuit of excitement? Couldn't a hedonist be someone who really likes their wine?

>What is a good ruling race to whip orcs into shape?

Hobgoblins, no question about it. They'd even start up eugenics programs to craft the ideal Orc.

Paradise (Lost)

>Paradise was a git in life
>she married the king and had a daughter then killed the king, raising the daughter to be her successor
>but she was an arse mom and the daughter hated her, yet was competent and beautiful enough to annhilate her mom in under a year in civil war (but Paradise doesn't remember how she died)
>obviously Paradise Lost doesn't make it to Paradise and goes to hell, eventually becoming a succubus
>she gets summoned by a powerful Wizard and used as a tool and cocksleeve; she has three kids while she's at it, who she raises well
>but now the Wizard is dead because he's a scrub who didn't unlock Immortality and Paradise is free
>the Nobles are fags, Paradise will take over the world~

Okay first of all she's an old hag, two and a half centuries old. As the guy is "currently updating", I won't say too much beyond "she is really, really not level 1". It might be useful to have her, say, drained of powers by the archmage before he died, instead of 'accidentally' losing it to the Knight. In fact, what is the Knight even supposed to be? Unless I'm missing something, Eliciter doesn't get a companion at level 1. Is Knight crafted or something?
Despite the high scores I'm giving, I have some severe misgivings because of her backstory and kind of over-the-top concept. Maybe it's what Maximum wants, I don't know, but this is really kind of generic as a 'I will take over the world' thing.

Concept [ 4 / 10 ] - Eh, it's generic.
Backstory [ 3 / 10 ] - NOT LEVEL ONE.
Ambition [ 10 / 10 ] - Her idea of rule doesn't seem to end at the Empire...
Villainy [ 9 / 10 ] - She's not nice.
Party Value [ 10 / 10 ] - It is a DSP Succubus who casts off Charisma.
Sexy [ 9 / 10 ] - SUCC
>>
>>52948669
Hedonism doesn't mean you have to be short sighted, but it does mean you absolutely cannot put pleasure aside for the sake of not being an ass. Literally the only reason you would not burn down the inn as a hedonist is because you're afraid of the City Guard, not because you care if people inside die.
>>
>>52948473
Says you
>>
>>52948697
Let's see... the fire might spread, you might get hurt, you might want to sleep in the inn some time... There's like a million reasons why a hedonist wouldn't immediately jump into the conclusion that burning down the inn is the most convenient way of heating a potato. Unless, that is, he was as retarded as you clearly are.
>>
>>52943302
>You can kill all the arch devils in approximately 96 seconds with three level 18 mythic characters.
I enjoy how this idiot assumes a whole bunch of other things, such as the fact that these creatures have 10 mythic tiers in the home realms they live in (which they have no reason to leave at all) none of which are detailed because they're all GM fiat, that he assumes that mind blank is the only defense any of them have (Misdirection will not only lead them to the wrong target but also have an excellent chance of leading them into a horrible trap), and that the very weakest of them will automatically deflect the named bullet that he claims will kill any of them instantly as a non-action on his round and one can't be targeted by a bullet anyways since he's a swarm, one is immune to crits (so the named bullet won't do enough to kill him), another has a 75% chance of ignoring the crit, and one isn't even a physical being. We'll also casually ignore the infernal resurrection each of them has. We'll also ignore the fact that in their infernal realms they can control what magics do and do not work, including wish, named bullet and discern location (assuming the discern location isn't mislead by a half dozen various shell games syuch as Mage's Sanctum, False Vision etc. etc etc.).

In other word, white room theorycraft is stupid, indefensible, and blatantly ignorant of how playing a game actually works compared to theroycrafting a game. Chances are much higher the 18th level mythic characters all die horribly before they ever meet the archdevils.
>>
>>52948176
>gypsises

>>
>>52948737

For some reason, I feel like that'd be the basis for some kind of educational show; a pleasure-seeker with an utter lack of common sense needs a high-INT party member to explain easier ways to get what he wants.
>>
>>52948697
You've never met a hedonist in your life, anon.
>>
>>52948769
So are gypsies.
>>
>>52948737
None of those reasons actually counter the essence of the extreme example, which is that a hedonist does things for no other reason than because he feels like it. Okay, maybe he wants to sleep in the inn, maybe he's afraid of getting burned, whatever. Let me put it this way - a very high level hedonist is just as likely to sit in the shade as he is to turn off the sun when he thinks it's too hot. Hedonists are by definition selfish and self-centered. Obviously they don't [need] to be retards about it, just like you can be a NE Psychopath and fit in just fine from birth to death.

>>52948771
They barely exist in real life as applicable to 3.PF, I'm using the actual philosophical theory of hedonism which is that happiness, being the one 'good' that never gets a justification why it's good, is therefore the highest good. Hedonism implies "as long as you're happy and are enjoying yourself", literally anything goes. For most people, pulling bullshit makes it impossible for you to be happy therefore even hedonists aren't going to shoot up the wine shoppe to grab a Bordeaux, but to high powered PCs?
>>
>>52948883
>a hedonist does things for no other reason than because he feels like it.

Okay so I have a question for yall.

Kobold flood - feat
Requirements: combat expertise, kobolf style, kobold groundling
Benefit(s): You can make agrapple combat maneuvercheck to mount aproneMedium or Large foe. If you’re successful, you move into the target’s square and are considered to be on top of the target. For the target to stand, it must succeed at acombat maneuver check to break yourgrapple.

Despite how sexy this sounds , How is this functionally different from grappling a prone enemy normally? I would assume if you were grappling an opponent that youd share the same space, and grappled enemies cant move anyways, so they cant get up if you just grappled them.

Is this just the worst feat ever designed or something?
>>
>>52948962
No, it isn't. Hedonism is the theory of personal enjoyment trumping literally everything else. A hedonist acts to increase his own enjoyment - i.e. "because I fucking feel like it". He never has a reason beyond either enjoyment now or enjoyment later, and an actual hedonist is always going to be Chaotic Evil because of it.
>>
>>52948972
From reading the rules, it looks like you can stand while grappled under normal situations, but can't stand while grappled here.
>>
>>52948988
Doing things "because you feel like it" is not the same as doing things to maximize pleasure. Ask anyone with sddiction or self control issues.
>>
>>52949035
What can you possibly "feel like" beyond maximizing pleasure? Addicts and people who lack self control are literally short-sighted hedonists. Not EVERY hedonist is short-sighted, some of them I'm sure look far ahead to ensure tomorrow they'll have even more wine and even more bitches to fuck and even better games to play, but that doesn't mean short-sighted hedonists AREN'T hedonists. Especially Fierna, who is explicitly "Do as Thou Wilt".
>>
>>52949004
The grappled condition states that you cannot move and take a -4 penalty to dexterity though.
>>
>>52949068
Move refers to moving to another square, not standing up. When prone you're also eating -4 to ac, which in turn affects your cmd. You also take a -4 to attack people standing, so yeah prone grapples are the worst shit ever.
>>
>>52949068
Yes but move meaning actions like a movement or 5 foot step action. You should be able to still stand up, (promoting attacks as usual) and can draw a weapon, perform small tasks, and others while grappled as long as you arent moving or breaking the other conditions of grapple. (Until pinned).

Also let it be known that one small sized creature gripping a creature larger than it, the larger creature has a bonus against the grapple until more than one small sized creature joins the grapple.
>>
>>52949062
Hedonism is a philosophy of maximising pleasure in order to maximize the value of your life. It stems from intelligence and reasoning to reach its conclusion. There's no such thing as a short-sighted hedonist

Stefon Vargrave, the Gravesinger

>Stefon is a singer and dancer
>but he didn't like singing and dancing for nobles because it feels so empty, they're just using him as a stopgap during parties
>one day, wandering around the countryside, he hears clattering as he sings
>it's a skeleton
>the skeleton dances when he sings
>suddenly Stefon feels fulfilled
>but the Death Goddess people aren't happy with him and get him exiled
>but it's okay
>because the bones danceth
>but one day he hears that his mentor is dead, because people got mad she saved him
>so he's going to crack open her crypt and make her dance one last time, but she needs an audience
>so begins his quest to find a suitable stage for his dead adoptive mommy

I like the idea and I like the motivation given because he's uniquely sick and basically insane. I think you should expand on his personality beyond his singing and dancing more though, because you covered it only very briefly. It might also be a good idea to expand on "largely indifferent to the plight of the living". What does that mean? Does he simply lack empathy now? Does he think the Undead are more important? Does he feel empathy for undead?

Concept [ 8 / 10 ] - An interesting take on necromancers, someone who can apparently *sing* skeletons to life.
Backstory [ 9.5 / 10 ] - No suggestions.
Ambition [ 6 / 10 ] - Toppling the Empire is possible but it seems to be a means to an end here, which means if he doesn't need to topple it, he won't try.
Villainy [ 8.5 / 10 ] - Someone who is Evil, without understanding his evil, is pretty evil.
Party Value [ 7 / 10 ] - My main concern is how many skeletons he's going to be raising and whether the rest of the party will enjoy waiting for an extra 7 turns.
Sexy [ 5 / 10 ] - Pale-haired creepy prettyboy.

>>52949068

Not really. (Ethical) Hedonism is the philosophy of "all good things have reason why they are good, beyond happiness and pleasure, ergo happiness and pleasure are the most fundamental good things and are intrinsically good, ergo as long as you maximize your own happiness and pleasure, you are acting in a good manner and need no further justification", even if this applies a loss to someone else's pleasure and increases their pain. A hedonist who is short-sighted isn't a utilitarian hedonist (who looks to increase expected pleasure in the long run) anymore, but he remains a hedonist, because he acts with the justification that pleasure is itself good and desireable and needs no other justification. In other words, a druggie who says "it feels good m8" when asked why he's pumping himself is literally a hedonist, although he may or may not be a utilitarian hedonist.

Vampires are best when served with a good helping of dark fantasy horror in a transylvania or dark forest type setting, with connections to a vampire lord boss, which then leads to a lich or some other even greater undead. There's nothing wrong with this personality but it comes off as edgy without any more depth to it; I think it'd be good to expand on his survivor's guilt, which I'm sure exists, and give more detail on his 'contradictions'. As it is he's like a teenager who just realized that most people care more about themselves than abstract values and acts above it all for it.
About his backstory, it's just lacking in detail all around. I get the gist of it, but I don't think my greentext even leaves much out, and that's a problem, because if your backstory is nothing more than a ten-line greentext, well, it's probably too shallow.

Concept [ 4 / 10 ] - Revenge. Been there done that; give me some more on what he himself actually wants. Does he care about cleaning up bandits, still, for example?
Backstory [ 3 / 10 ] - I'd like more details here in general but the bit about his dad seems superfluous and can probably be kicked off entirely.
Ambition [ 1 / 10 ] - Presumably all he wants is to take revenge on the militia, which while good for a level 1-4 quest, is hardly the ambition of an Overlord.
Villainy [ 4 / 10 ] - Nope. His slippery slope isn't as clear-cut as Giles.
Party Value [ 3 / 10 ] - He honestly doesn't seem useful. Maybe trying to do too much at once or something, but for every role he tries to fill other apps just do it better.

All I want is an honest attempt at a high-level campaign built around something fairly serious, like the party is a band of Golarion's greatest heroes united to stop planet-ending threats or to protect their respective countries or even continents, or the party is carving through the Abyss in a quest for more power, or... Or something.

Point is, I'm sick and tired of comfy, I want to see Mythic in use, and the only time I want to see "lewd" is when a character just so happens to be sexy as fuck, or characters develop a relationship naturally through continued interaction both in and out of game.

Hidden secondary reason I want Mythic and high-level: I've seen you guys build level 3 characters for months and months and months, I want to see what sort of backstories you people grow with a level 9, 11 or even 13 start, with Mythic to some degree.
>>
>>52949564
More or less everything, but the lack of a constitution score certainly helps. It means that in PB, an Undead has more points to work with for the stuff he needs and can use his CHA score in place of CON anyway. Ghosts are even worse, as they use their DEX score for their STR score, meaning they have 25 PB across only 4 stats.
Both of them "come online" really fast, unlike Succubi who are better than the Ghoul but take forever to come online so are worse than Ghosts. Ghoul has all the powers you'd expect of a ghoul, including Ghoul Fever at level 2, and Ghosts can take Incorporeal and Selective Tangibility as feats to take no real penalty to fighting corporeals while having 100% immunity to physical attacks, 50% damage from non-force magic, 75% autododge chance on the same, and even have a feat for 1d4 arbitrary stat drain on touch attack.
>>
>>52949705
Seconded, personally I'm getting kinda tired of comfy & lewd being the seemingly predominant themes. I'm not too familiar with Mythic, but I'd happily see some more serious plotlines going on.

Or, alternatively, I'd still love to see someone do a good vehicle-based campaign. Someday I'll be able to play Mad Max in Pathfinder.

Yes, otherwise calling it "high-level" doesn't mean shit because every campaign ends up at a high level. Furthermore, and perhaps more relevant to everyone here, starting at high-level means you don't have to slog through 1-2 years of sessions to get to the stuff you signed up for in the first place, assuming the campaign even lives that long.

"Quadruple Handie" Cijiska

>half-Kasatha by blood
>her village follows the old ways and gets purged while she's away
>she heads off to a city, hoping for revenge
>but uh oh, this isn't a videogame
>she nearly starves to death before getting recruited by a brothel madam
>she gains connections, allies, and informants because she's an #exotic whore
>but even these aren't enough to stop people from finding out she killed the witchhunters
>and so she runs off, becoming a bandit
>but the coppers find her anyway, and now she awaits her punishment...

I like the idea but this doesn't seem suitable for a level 1 game. Cijiska, Jeska, and Fiji seem to be rather experienced at the game of assassination and dodging authorities, she even has a few heads under her belt. Another problem is where her backstory lands her - it sounds like the end of a story, not the beginning, and necessitates either a quest to rescue her from characters who honestly probably don't know or care who she is or a solo quest to break out, which is something that might interfere unless Maximum likes it. See if you can't find a way so she's not literally in a quest the moment the campaign starts.

Concept [ 7 / 10 ] - Assassin-whore isn't unique esp. for a lewdgame, but it's still a fun concept.
Backstory [ 9 / 10 ] - I give the story a high score, but there's also a problem - as I said, this is a complete story, not the beginning of a new story. It sounds so final, so complete. Here is the rise of a assassin-prostitute-bandit, here is her fall, the end, good day sir I hope you enjoyed the story.
Ambition [ 2 / 10 ] - Literally what does she even want? Just to kill the Witchhunters?
Villainy [ 2 / 10 ] - I don't...think so?
Party Value [ 7 / 10 ] - Her build is hardly optimal but it does make her work well as a scout and rogue skillmonkey, which the party may need.
Sexy [ 4 / 10 ] - Eh.
>>
>>52949981

See, that's exactly what I'm talking about; games advertised as high-level romps rarely enter high-level because they either die around levels 3-7 or just end because the DM got bored. It's to the point where I don't CARE about playing 1 year of sessions to see a "rise to power" that I would've been just as satisfied with had I wrote that level 15 character's backstory myself.
>>
>>52950008
IMO, class skills have always been an inherently silly concept that railroads character design. Why shouldn't someone with Rogue levels have spent so much of their youth hanging around libraries? Perhaps they're from a family with a proud academic tradition, and prior to disappointing the family by going out and being a crook they got a broad education.

I typically throw the class skills thing out the door. You have skill ranks, put them wherever you want, the only requirement is that it makes sense given the character's backstory.

Then again I also do a feat every level rather than a feat every two. I'm a firm supporter of extensive character customization, and encouraging players to get creative with their character ideas.

>>52950013
For a lewd character, that one's actually more compelling than most that I see.
Fucking scrub-tier question, where do these characters come from? I see them getting posted, but I don't know if they're random Roll20 finds or what
>>
>>52949965
Almost everything you posted was slander from shitposts with no basis in reality
>>
>>52950107
Overlewd applications, I'm reviewing all of them randomly. Also, she's not actually a Lewd character, just a lewd character. The lewd is in her backstory, not just tacked on.

>railroads character design
You can argue that classes in general railroad character design though.
>>
>>52948313
That same roll20 rando got into WWW

>>
>>52950107
Class skills don't dictate where I can put my points, but it is annoying when they're not there, because that +3 for a class skill is often a make-or-break deal. So this part feels kind of irrelevant to whatever point you wanted to make.
>>
>>52949965
>Turnimg the /d/M on is part of the application
>He wrote one of tge best apps
>His inability to go weekly is not him getting booted. He refused all compromise

If he had an issue with Vult he would never have joined
>>
>>52950132
Classes DO railroad character design, I don't think many people would disagree with that. We alleviate that as best we can by inventing new archetypes and creating weird builds of X levels in this and Y levels in that, but there is still very much an element of mechanical railroading.

>>52950154
I suppose I said that wrong, since getting rid of class skills would imply getting rid of the +3 bonus and that would cripple a lot of things. What I more mean is that I'm happy to treat any skill as a class skill, with the +3 and everything. Obviously that wouldn't be balanced for people trying to minmax shit with 1 point in a bunch of skills, and I would have to re-examine how I was handling it if someone tried that. As long as players aren't being abusive dicks about it though, I'm fine with saying that your class skills are whatever you want if your backstory justifies them.
>>
>>52949965
The 'friction' came from Vult changing the game after the fact to be weekly and nigh constantly pbp between sessions because he can't contain his lust to write shitty 2liners while his partner writes entire paragraphs
>>
>>52950252

It wasn't the weekly schedule, it was the draconian PbP requirements because Vult can't run combats and they eat up most of a session.
>>
>>52950107
Personally, I do:

Half base class skill ranks + half int mod (round up) skills get level+3 modifier. Must be justified. You will be slapped if you try for UMD without a good reason.

Half base class skill ranks + half int mod (round down) +2 (EG, 4+half int+2 for a rogue, 1+half int+2 for a fighter) skills get level/2 modifier. Still must be justified.

6 skills get level/4 modifier. Don't really need to justify these, "he dabbles" is good enough

4 * level ranks for lore skills. Tie them to the backstory or recent campaign events.

Olivia, the noble-that-would-have-been

>Olivia is born to nobles that are already not noblility by the time she's around
>her family are legitimately good people and Olivia decides she's going to become a noble again
>she decides to use the military path, proving herself exceptional as both a fighter and a commander
>also she finds a boyfriend
>and she rides his dick
>but oh woe is he because he's actually a NEW noble
>Olivia kills him impulsively, but then she realizes she dun goofed and has to run.

Olivia is my favorite type of revenge story. You see, Olivia Favillina's not taking revenge for wrongs done to Olivia Favillina. Olivia Favilla is taking revenge for other people, for the parents-as-nobles she never got to meet, for the she-that-could-have-been-but-never-was, for Olivia Bellume, against nobles-who-should-not-be, and that's a beautiful contradiction.
Now personal ranting aside, I think Olivia's backstory and personality can be improved if you were to add in details on her relationship with her family, whether they're still in touch, and so on. Is she at least somewhat moved by a desire to restore her family? Is she mainly concerned with her OWN lost comfort and future? Is she willing to "settle" for rulership of another kingdom, or does she absolutely need to fuck up the new nobility? These significantly affect her sympathetic factor as well as the reasoning behind her motivation and what would be needed to stop her.

Concept [ 10/10 ] - Yes, I am biased, this is my personal favorite type of story.
Backstory [ 7/10 ] - See above.
Ambition [ 8/10 ] - It's definitely big, but how big is it? Could be 7 up to 9, depending.
Villainy [ 6/10 ] - She seems more impulsive evil than mediated evil, honestly.
Party Value [ 7/10 ] - Olivia works well as a battlefield buffer / commander and party face and an off striker, and should synergize well with most.
Sexy [ 8/10 ] - Fuck son look at dat thigh

Slime Queen Ingrid Proteah

>Ingrid likes exploring

>why is nobody studying oozes
>they're basically the Perfect Lifeform™
>so Ingrid, ignoring the war around her, starts studying oozes
>gets expelled while studying oozes
>only one more step, but there's no experiment material - oh well, let's use myself
>and so ingrid the slimegirl is born

I think the biggest complaint I have with Ingrid's character is how exactly she could be an advanced enough alchemist to literally make herself a slime and yet still be level 1. Making a human into a slime sounds like a near capstone power, but sure we can handwave it. Beyond that, her personality is fun and might be entertaining in a party - especially if she manages to humiliate herself at some point or break down crying like her personality section seems to imply is possible and even likely. As an aside, how pompous is she to people who are simply not alchemists or study things like magic? Is she dismissive of Wizards for not understanding the physics they simply ignore or of tacticians who study the application of brute force, or does she show respect to experts no matter what their area of expertise?

Concept [ 8/10 ] - 2smart4u who literally makes herself into a slime.
Backstory [ 8/10 ] - Short and sweet; adding a few hooks here and there might help to spruce it up a little.
Ambition [ ?/10 ] - She's FOR SCIENCE, but what, exactly, is her endgame?
Villainy [ 8/10 ] - From what I can tell she's cares nothing for life at all, beyond not going out of her way to harm it, but is basicaly willing to kill for the slightest reasons. Also, she thinks herself more intelligent than others, which is pretty dangerous combined with the above.
Party Value [ 6/10 ] - Buffing and debuffing is always good, as is utility provided by her skills, and her attacks aren't especially weak, but she's basically a glass cannon in melee.
Sexy [ 9/10 ] - She's an ooze.

As for how she could make herself a slime at level 1, I could think of a few possible explanations, ranging from using up all of a very limited sample of a very rare substance, to her new form so interfering with her work that she's having to re-learn how to do a lot of stuff (How do you mix potions properly when you are a walking cross-contamination?)

Edward Loum, the Very Sad Man

>Edward comes from a poor family who cares nothing for politics and the struggle of the Empire
>Edward has faith in God
>Edward becomes a paladin and marries an altargirl
>Edward and the altargirl love each other very much
>Edward goes off to stop evil cultists and to be a hero
>but Edward isn't strong enough and get tortured and withered for seven years
>when he comes home, his wife has already killed herself because she loved him so much
>Edward can't take it
>Edward loses faith
>Edward Falls and fucks off into the distance, his steps heavy, his face blank, his mind empty

What's unique about Edward, I'd say, is that his dilemma has NOTHING to do with the regime change, which is fresh. He has nobody to blame but himself, yet he himself is not to blame. In essence he's like Giles, except even worse off - Giles got fucked basically by bad luck and association, but Edward was literally just on the wrong mission.
As far as suggestions, there's hardly anything I can give. He's solid all around; a little expansion on his personality and perhaps what he's already done and already seen while wandering aimlessly, but other than that, I think this is a "if you're not chosen I guess it's just bad luck".

Concept [ 7/10 ] - The depressed, broken man is a pretty cool concept, considering the tone of this game. Edward stands to be comforted by finding #truelove and to be fulfilled via Antipaladin acts.
Backstory [ 9/10 ] - Yep, effective, to the point, gives enough sidestory for context and provides a major hook for a personal quest at some point.
Ambition [ ?/10 ] - Nowhere is there even an inkling of what he wants, which is probably intended.
Villainy [ ?/10 ] - The slippery slope is real.
Party Value [ 6/10 ] - He seems to be powerful as a damage dealer, though poor as a tank. What exactly is "Ex Paladin"? It's not Antipaladin best I can tell, is it literally a wasted Gestalt slot?
Sexy [ 8.5/10 ] - I want to cheer Eddy up!

Fighter's a good option, that's what I usually do with perma-fallen paladins. Slayer might be another good option.

The guy started with Ex-Paladin, a Fighter is basically an Ex-Paladin with feats and more opportunities to grow or develop.

Slayer's good considering the INT will be put to use for skills. In addition, d10 HD, full BAB and studied target are nice to have.

Look it's not as great as Deathless Ghosts "I see you don't have Ghost Touch, guess I'm invincible", but by level 12 he'll have something like 35 AC making him god against people who rely on getting past AC, which depending on enemies could be a lot of people.

those kind of enemies aren't going to be a threat to someone with d12 HD and DR no matter how much AC he has or doesn't have. what is a threat are spells and effects that come from touch attacks and he has no touch AC. i'm not saying it isn't useful to shore up defenses where you can but claim someone is "invincible" based on Armor Class when he's got CHA to saves and inherent CHA increases... it's like a "I'm taking Pathfinder 101 in the summer." level of ignorance regarding the meta. 35 AC at level 12 is just barely "good" anyway. i think you should refrain from analyzing crunch because you've said a lot of other weird shit in your other "reviews".

>>52952083
I'm not new to PF, invincible was obviously an exaggeration, I don't think anyone is actually going to be invincible when the DM is making a game based off gestalt with DSP monster classes.
Why don't you redo the crunch then, unironically. Crunch reviews were never something I really liked doing anyway, since a lot of them come down to party comp and what the DM decides to fling at you.

Question for you /pfg/, how does gestalt affect APL and CR? I ask because the variety it allows for is neat, but I can't find anything about how you should adjust the difficulty of encounters for a gestalt party. Depends on how optimal the gestalt combinations are.

Mythic adds CR equal to 1/2 the mythic tier. So level 20/Mythic 10 PC with PC level wealth is CR 25.

Gestalt adds 1/2 character level to CR. So a gestalt level 20 character with PC wealth is CR 30.

So a level 20 Gestalt/Mythic 10 character with PC wealth is CR 35, or easily able to best every demigod ever printed by Paizo.

Helvetica, Cutest Ghost

>Helvetica gets given up to a Wizard as payment
>she DOESN'T seem to get raped by the old fart, what a surprise
>old fart dies, Helvetica flips through his library, but oh my - there's so much the arcane can't do
>Helvetica starts branching out in her research and giving out faustian bargains
>but then the war starts, and her tower gets burned down
>Helvetica strikes a hard bargain with an ancient being, in that being's favor, to return to life
>and now she's back, and pissed

Good and cute concept, KC art, and power expected from a DSP D. Ghost. Helvetica is solid, but feels slightly unfocused. Her ambition is unclear as is the exact target of her grudge (is she holding a grudge against the entire Empire?), and how exactly she was doing Cure Light Wounds as a Wizard is befuddling me if it's actually relevant. Her backstory in general is unfocused; a lot of it seems to be more or less irrelevant to her current plight, and while the part of her contract and rise is short and appropriate enough for level 1, it almost reads like an afterthought compared to the rest. Also, I would like to know what exactly she wants to change. It honestly doesn't seem like there was any systemic problems. Does she just want an academia seperated from politics as a whole?

Concept [ 7/10 ] - Lonely, Cute, Irate, Scholarly Ghost Waifu with too much knowledge of romance novels who actually works in context of the setting.
Backstory [ 7/10 ] - Why exactly is she Avowed instead of Wizard anyway, I get the contract bit but like yeah, she's not under a contract anymore right?
Ambition [ 7.5/10 ] - Another one who wants to change the Empire, although she doesn't seem to care about ruling it.
Villainy [ 5/10 ] - Amoral with qualms that may either intensify as she looks back on her past deeds and her immediate anger fades, or may fade as she gets used to Undeath with all the hatred of life that implies.
Party Value [ 10/10 ] - Deathless Ghost.
Sexy [ 3/10 ] - Cute 10/10

Oh, Christ. Yeah, in that case I think I'll just stick to gestalt and drop mythic. [spoler]I thought about Mythic because the idea I'm tossing around is for a campaign where the PCs go on a crusade into the lower planes. Since that means they'd inevitably run into the rulers of those planes, I though mythic might be necessary. But it sounds like gestalt prepares them for high CR encounters better, and it avoids the problem of mythic spells (Looking at you, Mythic Time Stop).[/spoiler]

>>
>>52952910
>>52952894
Well I mean, if gestalt only boosts APL by +1 or 2, and the players are eventually going to run afoul of archfiends and demon lords, I can't really throw them against something that potentially has a CR 8 levels above their APL.

Also, like >>52952992 said, I'm aware mythic is more broken but at least it's also easier to predict.
>>
>>52953036
Wizard/Warder isn't actually that great because the two sides compete with each other for actions.

Passive/Active is better.

Wizard doesn't gestalt well with much besides certain kinds of investigators.

Mythic is easier to predict specifically BECAUSE it breaks things so easily, a fact that makes it so shit. An Archmage is going to laugh and have all the spells they'll ever want at their fingertips. True, but that still doesn't address the issue of fighting something 8 CR Levels above them. You do have a point though, and I'll admit while there's plenty of mythic stuff that I like (Legendary Weapon and the ability to grant domains to people for example), mythic does make it hard to challenge players with anything that isn't also mythic.

Thinking on it, maybe the best solution would be to just make my own versions of archfiends and demon lords and the like, and stick to just gestalt? I'm already using my own setting, might as well use my own versions of the lower planes' leaders while I'm at it. And if I want to include some of the things I actually like about mythic, like legendary weapons and domains and such, nothing says I have to be using mythic to let a character find a legendary weapon or let the characters start granting domains after they've reached high levels and literally conquered parts of hell.

Speaking of games I am nearing the first workable draft of The Revolution of Corkheel Square book 1. The draft has gone through multiple edits as I have had to hammer out the kinks of how several of the systems will work.

The most important parts that I have been working out are the following:
>Calendar
The game is entirely based on a year long revolution with each book taking place over the course of two months and players deciding each day what they want to accomplish. Getting the calendar fitted together with what events occur when, time sensitive events, and a feeling of balance between events was complicated.

This is mainly due to the fact for event qualification since the alignment of the revolution, faction fame, and previous completed events all effect what events you qualify for each day.

>Revolution Alignment
I talked before about how this works. There are 9 factions that effect the revolution, one of each alignment, which depending on who the players go with and help create the revolution's overall alignment.

>Revolution Stats
The revolution itself needed to have stats beyond alignment to gauge the revolutions health, everything from manpower, to food, to weapons, to political clout. These all together and how they effect gameplay was difficult to balance as I realized it was extremely easy to fuck up early on, hit 0 manpower, and trigger the "AP Failed" event.

Right now the first workable draft of Book 1 is being looked through by a friend of mine. Hopefully within the next month of so it'll be in a workable fashion enough that I can run a game to test play it.

Initiators actually make for pretty good passive side, if you focus on boosts and counters - not that warders don't have good passive benefits without even taking initiating into account. It isn't as if Wizard has lots of uses for swift actions beyond quickened spells.
>>
>>52953425
Eh, those rules get out of handbag as well, and plus if I let the man start granting domains at high levels it'd be as a result of so many people looking up to them as larger-than-life people that's the process of ascending has started, but isn't near complete yet. My reasoning for the evil gods not getting involved is that all gods are under a contract that physically prevents them from directly intervening in mortal affairs. So if the party leading the Crusade started becoming cutlass gods, you know there'd be a legal division of devils slamming their desks and shouting "Objection!"

That's about an hour of reading. If the writing was engaging I wouldn't mind too much but if it's just environmental/monster descriptions I'd switch off. Try and structure it to be more event-based if you can so your players will get immersed, give a basic premise then set a short story in that world for example.
>>
>>52953560
2 good saves, full BAB, d12 HD, intelligence replaces dexterity for basically everything important by 5th level. Oh, and they get stalwart and some bonus feats as well.

That's better than most full-BAB classes if you're int-based, and we're not even factoring in maneuvers or stances yet. Having a NOPE button against melee attackers is pretty damn nice if you're a squishy arcane caster.
>>
>>52953560
Warder is one of the more active initiators, given it's recovery method and lower maneuvers readied count. Something like a Bushi Warlord or Brutal Slayer could be a lot more passive if focusing on boosts and counters.

Don't actually do this though, boost+full attack/charge is cancer.

It's a terrible jumping-in point, but it's doable. Don't become one of those fags who only plays pathfinder though, if you're given the opportunity to try other systems.

See that's the thing.

People will say Pathfinder is bad.

But at the end of the day, it's worth a look. It appeals to certain people, and you ain't gonna know if it appeals to you or not until you get in there.

I like the numbers. I like the stats. I like knowing what my character can do. I like the silly amount of character options, even if a lot are bad, because they make me think about characters that'd use them.

>Many people started on some variation of D20.
Many people also refuse to play anything but some variation of D20 because it's what they started with.

Some people started with d20 and turned out fine. But many didn't.

I'm tucked away in North West England, not much around me for about 45 minutes drive. I'll be relying on something like roll20, which means as soon as I settle on a ruleset and learn how to play I can find plenty of games and jump in. I can't really start playing if I don't already know the rules though since it's not in person.

I mean, you could say a similar thing for many systems. People like what they know, and especially if you've never learned a second system it can seem pretty daunting to step outside your comfort zone.

I mean I learned on AD&D before going into D20, and I got some HoL and GURPS in there too, so I had some variety. I know what you mean though, there's always a risk people will learn one system and not move on.

True, but I've yet to meet someone who started with, say, Paranoia and refuses to even consider trying another system. It probably has to do with how much effort you have to put into learning the system you start with.
>>
>>52953878
To be fair, that's because Paranoia is a very specific system/game that does a very specific thing, isn't it?

d20 runs the fucking gamut. More or less.

If you intend to play Pathfinder, I honestly would recommend starting with 5e. It's hard to make a bad character in 5e unless you do it on purpose, and the core rules are easy to learn. It's easy to transition into Pathfinder from 5e as well, and the regular complaints about 5e won't bother you unless you're familiar with your alternatives.

Thanks, exactly the sort of advice I needed. I'll give it a go and see how I get on.
