Sekhmet Sins @ Council of /HHG/ Edition
2W Sub-Edition

We talked about power levels, lots of them. How Sevatar's rules suck despite being in Siggy tier, which termies deserve 2W, the plethora of sins comitted in Inferno, especially the TS's and SW scythe thievery. We helped fluff unconventional alliances, which I personally love to do even if I don't always get (You)s. All Primarchs dress like shit, which is a shame because we'd like better bits for our Consul self-inserts, but apparently FW hates both money and sensible rules.
All of that and more in the previous thread, which was actually quite comfy, let's keep it up. -> >>52793605

>>
>>52809592
Effective if they have good shooting weapons. Do it with Cataphractii so maybe they don't get wiped out by return fire. But I'd only do it with one, maybe two squads. That IF RoW that allows more teleporting Termies means putting too much stuff in reserve.
>>
>>52809631
White and gold, no silver.
>>
>>52809628
Well if you can also stomach things like Ahriman using anything but Divination powers, go ahead. But there is a lot of Thousand Sons bashing to make the IW look good.

But enjoying A Thousand Sons probably means you won't enjoy Master of Prospero, because the latter has things that go against what is established in the first.

>>
>>52809628
Ehhhh, I mean, I presume you have it for free and it's not long, so it's not really an effort to read.

The thing is, it kind of shits all over the characterisation and legion info from A Thousand Sons, it's really weird. Every TS in it except Ahriman is an asshole, Ahriman isn't but is instead completely useless and a bit of a pussy.
Oh and the 'rules' of the TS that ATS established are kind of ignored.

It's like an opposite day version of the feel of ATS. I didn't rate it.
It's recommended for Iron Warriors fans in all seriousness, they're amazing in it.

A) He's strong enough to lift him and get the leverage, Primarchs are retard strong, and Magnus was off-balance due to just being blinded.
B) The version of events we 'saw' in the fight was just people's perception of what was actually happening with all the warp and magic shit going down and Russ won in a different manner that manifested in viewing perception as magnus having his back broken.

So, i'm starting a Blood Angels army because i want to get into 30k, but I'm going to base my army list in 40k and I was wondering what kind of things i could do with them based on what I'm going to collect for 40k

I'm not beyond picking up extra models purely for a 30k list so if you have some suggestions feel free

My basic collection will be 30 tac marines a chaplain, two contemptors, two drop pods, 3 rhinos, 3 squads of tataros termies and a bike squad, and It's like this for the demi company/termie decurion detachment in Angel's Blade

Would i need to change much to the base army to get started with 30k? I'm not sure if Baal preds are a thing but I'd like to get some because they sound pretty cool

Had my first game in our escalation league (500pts, 1 HQ, 1 Troop) with my Custodes against TS. Turns out a Praetor with Iron Arm and Endurance up is really fucking hard to kill. These two ended up punching each other fruitlessly for four turns before he PotW'd himself out of existence. I lost, though, because his Cataphracti just murdered my Guardian squad. Still, good times.
Looking forward to Saturday, two more games planned for then. Word Bearers (notorious horde-army player) and Alpha Legion (possibly veteran focus?) as well as picking up another box of custodes. It's also nice to play on an actual table and not a mat once again, since the owner is finally back from his vacation.

>What is wrong with Imperial buggies :^)
Quite a few things.
Don't get me wrong, most of those issues stem from the fact that we were expecting Bullock-like Jetbikes. You know, like the ones almost EVERY piece of art depicts them riding.
But the bit that irked me the most was that, on the army that loves melee-ranged combination weapons, their lances are mere power lances. On the squad that has both Split fire and Sweeping Fire.
>>
>>52810020
Don't you have the 7th edition rulebook ? It's a must if you want to understand anything really. Should be in of the links in OP

Basically if a vehicles doesn't flat out or use smoke launchers it can fire one more weapons at normal BS then what would normally be allowed. This weapon may even be fired at a different unit than the rest of the guns.
>>
>>52809640
...why?

The accelerator Cannon is better by almost every measure- S7 isn't quite as good, but universal AP2 is better for wiping up TEQs, no jink is always bueno, and heliothermic det. means you're always AP1 and you've got a better chance of removing those pesky multiwound models we keep talking about.

S10 is nice, and sure exoshock is helpful, but end of the day accellereator cannons are just all-around better

Personally I can't get over how stupid the custodes on the jetbike has to hold the powerlance.

If you try to poke anything holding a lance like that the best you can hope for is a strained wrist.
>>
>>52810098
They defeat anything with 1W, don't need charge shenanigans like Phoenix termies, and since they attack at I3 the usual counter for 2W termies, powerfists, does not apply to them.
Plus they can Look Out Sir each other because they're a squad of characters (like the Command Squad should be) and can still kill blobs because of their flamer templates.
They do struggle against 2W termies, but you have regular powerfists for those, whose weapons are all unwieldy.
But DG are a termie legion mainly because they have two legion specific kinds of them, pretty much that.

>and It's like this for the demi company/termie decurion detachment in Angel's Blade
We don't use that kind of language in here, pal.

But more seriously, you might find more differences between the two systems than you expect. Tactical squads don't get special or heavy weapons; veteran squads are the ones that look more like 40k tac squads. Regular drop pods aren't normally available, you have to take certain Rites of War to get access to them and those rites usually require that everything be in a Drop Pod or have some other way of Deep Striking.

In a year or so, Blood Angels will get a FW book with more rules. For now, the most common way to run them is with a lot of assault marines. Blood Angels can run Predators with assault cannons but you may have to swap or remove the sponsons.

>>
>>52810782

Mostly it's the fluff and model we're complaining on. Sure, bikes are the best point for point model in the army but yes.
>>
>>52810808
Effectively this.

So much of army complaining now is like millionaires upset they aren't billionaires.

Oh well, it's at least comforting that most people that genuinely feel wronged by it (Custards players here have been chill and pretty active, so they're good by me) are the sorts that believe units are either capable of killing everything, or worthless. Makes tacticsl advantages and strategy a damn easy to use tool

but how long before BoLS players start responding to upset over bad wargear with 'then let them take paragon blades?'

I couldn't agree more on the modeling, though.

Starting with the fact the old art was better by 10000x, or that the poses are just unnatural AND impossible to move, it really ruins the effect.

Which sucks, cause the rules aren't shabby- figure I won't get any until someone figures out a good conversion of FW does put out the 'real' ones. Though all things considered, 40k might see them more too. GW might- God willing- make some

Well if I were to start stating her on my own I'd still probably give her a 3+ armour save because her armour wasn't primarch made like her brothers. Give her a 4++ because that's average and she wasn't known for being particularly tough. I'd make her gun the mainstay of her rules and actually have different fire modes that don't work on psychics. I'd probably give her some kind of hunting ability like seeker squads have. and then I'm left trying to figure out how her ball mode/abilities work.
>>

First of, fuck djin sight and it's "Gotta deploy your infiltrators further back than if they deployed normally bitch"

>>52811925
Second, FW isn't making rules that don't actually do anything. But in the rare case that a unit could deploy outside of LOS of all your units within 12'' it is usefull.
>>
>>52811925
prevents guys infiltrating within 12" basically, anything that restricts opponents options is useful
>>
>>52811925
You could surround your artillery with Augury scanners so they not only can't infiltrate within 18" from artillery, but from 18" from the squads surrounding said artillery, which can pretty much leave your whole deployment zone free from infiltrators.
Dray the usual 48" x 72" board, then draw circles of 18" diameter. Place them so you can leave infiltrators away.
I haven't done that, because Thallax' Djinn sight keeps Infiltrators 24" away, and the two compulsory squads can pretty much protect your Ordo Reductor siege engines from approaching infiltrators.

It instantly kills people. It's in the Main rulebook. It's sort of an important thing.
>>
>>52812675
Well, you have to win the assault first, and then the opponent has to fail the morale check, and then you have to win the dice off.

Not sure if that's that much better than flat +16.7% save chance.
>>
>>52812735
Winning the assault improves the chance of the enemy failing morale, but I do get what I mean. Still, it's a nice thing to have, but it's not essential and less so to terminators.
"It is a thing that exists and there are ways of using it to your favour" is what I'm saying
>>
>>52812735
Does having a reasonable chance to instant-kill an entire unit upon winning by more than a slim margin (difference in combat result is applied as a negative Ld. modifier remember) really weigh up against 16.7% save chance ?

Because unless a unit of terminators kills what they charged entirely by hand (doesn't happen as often as you think) it just runs away freely, ready to regroup next turn, whilst every enemy gun nearby is going to unload on those terminators.

Savvy opponents use a tactical squad to create above scenario, and make sure you lose an entire squad of terminators for part of a tactical squad. This is why nobody in the local meta here uses cataphractii any longer unless the unit wearing it has no choice. Because then it has a decent chance to at least remove one entire unit after charging.

But in a meta where people haven't advanced past rubbing eachother's deathstars together I can imagine cataphractii being better.
>>
>>52812895
I agree. Some units make better use of cataphractii, like tyrant siege, who would gladly trade mobility for more protection. They just there and chuck missiles after all, so they would rather have the survivability. But in most cases, the ability to run and sweeping advance is much more useful. Emperor help us if red butchers ever got a tartaros option...

Yeah, that was my idea to stop the presence of Secutarii being unfluffy - they're the Ordo Reductor boarding (and military police, since if you turn down an Arc Lance it makes a good tazer) forces, for backing up and ordering about Thallax, who are powerful but a little slow when it comes to tactics. Haywire works pretty well on doors and ship systems too, so they lead sabotage squads most times, but they will undertake planetary assault when required.
Oddly enough, that makes them more literal Space Marines than the Astartes.

The official one is already a unicycle, that's one of the last straws that made me give up on it.

If it had secondary steering thrusters and a poseable rider I'd have sucked it up and bought them, if it was 3 for £30 I'd have sucked it up and bought them.

But shittier looking than bullock bikes, crappy poseability, no steering thrusters -and- it costs out the ass? Fuck off.

I don't think my attempt is turning out quite as cool as the converted Sammael earlier in the thread, but by casting Sammael's prow it's certainly a lot less pricey.

Reductor probably have equally bullshit starship weapons as personal ones, they're fleet based. I wouldn't be surprised if they could take on Astartes fleets of equal numbers and win, but their ships are all arcologies, so they pack a few less guns than you'd expect to fit all the other shit in. What weapons they do have are probably a couple tiers up the Mechanicum Bullshit Meter, though.

So, about your gettin stomped....

You will, against most anything. Your HS squads are unbelievably useless in game, something like 2 vindies and an HS squad with volkite Culverin/lascannons. G-man and his boys, while Killy, have no way of getting around, which will screw you in the end. Same goes with the bleachers- cool, but not gonna do shit, probably lose 3/4 just moving upfield.

Just ran the numbers, and you could grab this as a pretty solid list instead;

>The OG Gilly
>Centurion: Termie, legatine axe

>invictus suzerians: land raider
>comtemptor: twin-kheres cannons

>Terminators: volkite/combi, 3 powerfists, 2 chainfists
>Terminators: volkite/combi, 3 powerfists, 2 chainfists

>Locaturus: 6 guys
>Locaturus: 6 guys

>HS Squad: rhino, volkite culverins, augury scanner
>Vindicator: Dozer Blade
>Vindicator: Dozer Blade

Of course there's plenty of room for customization, getting apothecaries with the storm squads for example, but it's a damn solid list, has greeeeat model, and fits well with the hammer n' anvil tactics of the Ultramarines.

Whatever you choose, good luck! Always good to see another UM player out there

Seriously, what DOES that guy work on? Custodes and Mechanicum don't give a fuck, Militia is Fearless half the time, Stubborn a quarter and always festooned with morale bubbles and standards, Solar Aux have Stobborn and Reroll Ld bubbles on anything remotely important and it doesn't work on tanks.

Few legionnaries are immune to fear. In fact most Praetors aren't even Stubborn, which would turn that Ld10 into Ld7. It is true that NLs don't fare well against mechanized enemies and fearless blobs...but that's true for the majority of astartes.
An army with Curze recieves extra spookyness (to deal with those Ld9 vet sarges) and guaranteed Night Fighting without needing the RoW, as well as a Jump Pack Primarch.
Anything else is an exta.

I've always said that the mortal armies were designed with the ass. At least regular Collared Levies will explode when they fail, Stubborn Ld6 is still measly Ld6.
The Zealot provenance does change the way the Militia plays by a lot, since it fixes the Ld problem, and gives up their dumb Str3 handguns for enhanced attacks. Combine it with Fear Rending and a billion bodies and it's one of FW's trademark combos, while their Russes are unaffected...
But it'd be your own fault to try to beat them at their own game.
NLs and the rest of marines have guns, and at BS4. Shoot those fuckers, Militiamen are even wearing 5+ or worse.
Don't let fear take a hold of (You), anon, and adapt your plans instead of literally playing a single-meme army! What would Guilliman/Alpharius do? Go fuck them up.

Dumbass question time, this probably gets asked a lot but had a look in the FAQ in the OP links and didn't see anything. Can you add apothecaries to units which are deploying via Scout or Infiltrate? (Assuming it's not a legion (e.g. RG/AL) that can get those as part of their Legiones Astartes rules, so the apothecary doesn't have the rule itself.)

That would be a great idea. Satarael has many bodies, but generally jumps between them after self-destructing.
Then again, he is a veritable case of a mind inside a machine. Say your Archmagos still lives because his personality and memory is backed up at the command ship, but each time a particular body "dies" any memory he didn't "back up" dies alongside that body.
And man, Magi would hate to die carrying that information.

Its, uhhh, boring. You've got a spartan deathstar and thirty marines worth of veterans in rhinos. You don't even have a legion where that works well, like Salamanders or SoH. Konrads biggest benefits lie in his mobility, which is shared with very few primarchs-Corax and Morty are the only ones as mobile as him. He also gives his unit a permanent 4+ cover save in the open due to stealth and shrouded, which, when combined with night fighting and nightlord +2 to cover on the first turn, gives him and his boys a 2+ cover in the open for the first turn, and probably a 3+ cover after that. Add him to a unit of twenty ass marines or some raptors, with an apothecary, and thats your NL deathstar. Basically, your list is painfully generic and doesnt really gain much from being NL, you would be better served doing the same list but with a different legion, since both gameplay and fluff are gimped this way.

That said, since you seem to like the idea of this list, take tartaros. take two chainfists and then PFists on everyone else. Spartan needs armoured ceramite, else some rhino or deepstriker is gonna blow it up turn 2. Chainglaives are pretty, but either bring a meltabomb too or a powerfist instead. Rhinos can now take multimeltas, never dont do this, it means the enemy must kill them ASAP instead of ignoring them. Predators are alright at killing infantry, but you already do that really really well, so they kinda overlap in purpose a lot. Sicaran is goodstuff, cant go wrong easily.

You have no good method of destroying AV14 without fisting it with your one deathstar. You have no anti-air at all. You bring a primarch deathstar in a spartan, totalling around 1200 or so points, in a legion which does not really support doing so in the same way that SoH, WE, DG or sallies do. While its not horrendous for calth/prospero list #1, it lacks a great deal.

That was pretty much what I was going for, would be the first thing I'd do if I found myself an Archmagos.

His response to losing a battle is "Dammit, I liked that gun", cloning another five thousand cannon fodder and turning some into Thallax and strapping more guns onto shitty APCs and then just carrying on.

I also like to imagine that he has one body that he augments with entirely non-visible stuff, finds some BS2 Levies to fight and pretends to be a Matrix character in his spare time.

Archmagi are not batshit insane by default? I evidently misread the one that made a giant army of glowy snowmen and the other one who did a Land Leviathan up as an Age of Sail frigate to explore planets with, complete with Servitors in uniforms.

>Could an Archmagos build himself a remote body or something just to run around and do stupidly dangerous and fun things with?
Yes and no. Yes, because that literally happens in Sons Of The Forge, Regulus skips bodies multiple times. No, because that novel was written by Nick Kyme. NICK. KYME.
>>
>>52823268
Well they are batshit insane in predictable ways, they each have their fetishes and can be expected to follow them to the extreme. Archmagos Data Drive would just be completely nuts, giving orders to not allow the number of Mechandrties you have to be a multiple of 6, or in fits of absolute insanity, he could openly innovate

Lorewise the archmagos would fight the praetor and some once-named tacticals who always have chainswords in melee and probably kill a tactical or two before having an elongated fight scene that goes for 2 paragraphs too many before the praetor "just barely" completely eviscerates the archmagos.

See how marine captains fight daemons in 40k

The praetor will win every time due to protagonist syndrome

So basically these guys, except more competent? I'm down for that, he's a good commander, decent manager and an excellent scientist and surgeon, but occasionally does something completely without context for no apparent reason. Gives a good form to the "slow degeneration into madness and heresy" I'm imagining after my fleet holes up in a quiet system somewhere and builds a base.

He'd also lose a fuckton of duels, since he always survives and doesn't much care for combat since not much is on the line.. Could be a running joke.

To be fair, he was getting his ass kicked and then magically won. There wasn't even a description of how, it was almost exactly "and then he had his sword next to something important" after being smashed to fuck and pinned down.
It was entirely done so they could make a point about "fighting with spirit" and then the Secutor had a a "turn off your targeting computer, Luke" moment at the end fighting this giant crystal thing because this is a Disney movie now.

It's kind of pointless to have a model for something's that's dead.

What is that from?
Also, I remember Whaleviathan and Flying serpent Magos, but there are many other Mechanicum players, right?
As for the body, I've still got to process the influx of new ideas. If I were a Magos the main body would be akin to two people in a single body. 4 hands, two synchronized brains, a single torso. The usual duplescent.
But remote controlled bodies wasn't out of the cards, like those Doom bots.

What if it was a loyalist Magos protagonist against a daemon-y Word Bearer?
>>
>>52824146
Also, every single loyalist legionnaire in 30k apart from Bjorn.
>>
>>52824227
Wait, my bad, there's also that Blood Angel, who survived 10,000 years in a dreadnought just like Bjorn did, but did nothing of note in that time and then jobbed to the exact same Night Lord he jobbed to on Terra.

This sort of shit is why ADB gets on my nerves. A dreadnought that survives all that time should be a really big deal and have been heard of before, but he just shoehorns it in to make his snowflakes look better.

>>52824207
Those two are from Priests of Mars and the other two in the series. Main villain and main hero respectively. The snowmen were these necron-tech heretek constructs made of crystals that duplicated everything that came near the crystal snowfields, including Warhound Titans. They're crap at fighting, but they shoot green laser beams and keep making more.

The Land Leviathan Kotov made was just him fucking about IIRC. He didn't have much else to do, I suppose.
I'm captain mental whale-airship, but yeah, it seems that there's quite a few Mech players around. What can I say, every model in the line is sexy as hell, and there's much more potential for Your Dudes and conversions.

Akshually, we don't know exactly when that happens do we? Could be not during M41, bur rather, say M33 or something. Maybe? Or maybe I'm completely wrong and the entirety of the NL trilogy happens in M41 and indeed it's sin.

Pdf related has a Master of the Forge that waw willingly put in a dreadnought because they lack Techmarines and I THINK, not sure, that he's been in there since the HH but then again maybe I misunderstood. The big difference here is thag it is implied he did some sort of "symbiosis", he was healthy when interned, hence why he has been active, not sleeping, ever since.
A very good book to read about an unknown chapter.
