Ah, no. This particular servant build was more or less done by putting backstory elements on a dartboard, throwing blindly, and making a stat block to match. End result was a usually unarmed Christmas Cake Archer with a serious talent for running awat and licking her own wounds. If I had to pick an actual historical or folklore figure for a Servant, I'd probably build Takeda Shingen as a Rider with the overwhelming Takeda Cavalry as his Noble Phantasm.

You know diesel engines did compete with steam, and with batteries, and with horse drawn carriages. It's not like a setting has to only have one correct option. Likewise depending on your fuel sources and metallurgy diesel and steam could end up with very different efficiencies. Likewise in a setting where Airships are a thing you could have a very different structure of things, like most of the land could be in the form of floating islands, where you can't drill for oil, but can grow trees that can fuel steam engines. Or maybe you can grow oil rich crops in some places, but they don't do so well in others. Besides, magic ends up with whatever rules the author wants, if they want other things to be viable there is no reason why they can't change magic to accommodate that in some way.

Costs definitely need another look. I wanted to do a deep range explorer build, but the pay's terrible. So terrible, that if I buy the only ship that's explicitly for exploration (Razorbill), I've got nothing left over. I'm an explorer, here's my exploring ship, end of build. No toys, no options to customise the ship, basically so painfully generic that it's literally just checking a couple of boxes.
Presentation-wise, overall I like it. The smalltext could use something to make it easier to read, maybe a tiny outline for the letters.
It's a good first draft. Definitely needs some work, but I'll look forward to seeing it some more as you work on it. Please keep working on it.

Magic in Battlemage is essentially programmable plasma. You do spells by "coding" the sequence in your mind and executing it.

Translate that to technology and it pairs quite nicely. Mana coursing through logical circuits that does the sequences for you? Slap some modules on your power suit and you got power armour that can cast fucking lightning bolts of holyness.

Yeah I definitely need to work on balancing, it's a difficult rope to walk because I wanted this one to feel more realistic, so I want the more dangerous contracts to be more rewarding. For instance, if you wanted to only take Wayward, and didnt want to do anything else in the universe, you can play it safe but wont have very much money. So you'll have to buy a super cheap ship, or decide to take on an additional contract.

It looks quite good for your first. Pretty decent visuals but the text needs to be clarified a little. Try playing around with drop shadow, and probably best if you increase white tones on them.

It also appears that you have manually made each "option box", or at least manually aligned them. Here's a trick if you did this by photoshop: there are alignment tools built into the selection menu. Just select the layers and you can align them (to top, bottom, or average).

I'm thinking aloud, due to musing over a combination of styles. How would a fire master utilize a few points in undead vs a lightning master? How an ice/nature Mage could create an immovable locus of power, while a dark/nature Mage would utilize it for higher mobility and utility. Thinking at a fundamental level, I think that different schools of spells are very different. Raising the dead requires you to give dead corpses some sort of assistance to their movement. Even something like flame vs frost are different at a fundamental level since flame requires some sort of fuel and frost requires water.

Combining the effects of spells of different schools is beyond me, at least at the logical level. The concepts that are put into these spells are just very different.

Good to know, that's pretty much the answer I was looking for. The schools remaining distinct, separate provides a better mental framework for me.

I cannot for the life of me find the CYOA that had you pick attempts with which to survive a journey through Alaska. Turns out I saved one over it by accidentally naming them the same and I can't find it on the archives anymore.

Clothing options included a caribou skin coat and a modern goretex jacket. There were dog sleds and a snowmobile, one of the options was dog food you could either feed your dogs or eat yourself. You had to roll for dangers like bears or bad weather.

Anyone remembers what I'm talking about?

You can create, which is another part of the power behind mana. For example, frost magic requires you to create water in the first place and instantly freeze it. The water you create is mana manifested into the element, but it's only temporary.
