PUELLA LIBRAM GREENTEXT: TECHNICALLY SESSION 1

Lots to cover this time, because there was out of session IC during the week to cover Sigmund joining and the party meeting up!

>Cashmere and Gloriana get off the ship with the dead captain
>Follow rumors to a very seedy tavern called the Inn Between
>The grizzly Sigmund is also coincidentally here, drinking and flirting
>Gloriana has absolutely zero subtlety after being told to keep a low profile
>Cashmere and Gloriana get hit on by a local noble, boasting about his family's improved mines and clearly wanting to get in their pants
>Meanwhile, a redhead waitress offers Sigmund a 'reward' if he breaks up a fight in the bar
>He's stuck in unarmed combat with two thugs, until it gets broken up by the huge half troll matron arriving
>The thugs were related to the noble, and they're all sent off. The noble asks Cashmere and Gloriana to follow but Cashmere gives him a cold rejection.
>Overhearing that Sigmund is a Nightwalker, they invite him back to their table, and Cashmere offers healing
>Gloriana says Cashmere's healing made her sick last time, Cashmere huffs and says that's normal because of the miasma and all magic healing has that disadvantage--
>Gloriana heals Sigmund, corruption-free. Cashmere is rekt.
>The waitress also notices and pulls Gloriana upstairs to beg her to heal the madness from her father, since Gloriana has the gift to cure corruption
>Gloriana turns on the charm and and comforts waitress with a pure hug
>Meanwhile, Cashmere and Sigmund are alone at the table. She awkwardly tries to probe into his background and character
>It develops into an tense verbal standoff of city girl vs country bumpkin, quips being traded like fire, and somewhere along the way Sigmund signs himself onto the party to prove his point
>Just at the peak of the tension, Gloriana arrives to interrupt and defuse the hostility!
>Sigmund probably won though
>The party agrees to visit the Martel Mines to heal the waitress' father...
>>
>>52695691
>They make their way to the mines, Sigmund is uncomfortable because they dressed him up in smart clothes and combed his hair
>Gloriana cure the waitress' crazed father and donates 5 gold to them to have a good life
>But footsteps approach from outside - it's Lysander!
>He tells them of trolls in the mines, which spurs the party - especially Gloriana - into action
>Outside, they see a strange creature in the distance, howling to the moon and a cross between minotaur, displacer beast and manticore.
>They try and avoid conflict, heading to the mine, and are about to argue with the guard when they're shot down by crystal spikes from the beast 150ft away
>The group tries to engage, but next volley instantly downs Lysander and wounds Gloriana, so the party decides to bail for the mines as Sigmund covers them
>In the mine, they heal up and decide to go deeper, since come tomorrow the Martel guards will lock down the mine, this may be their only chance to investigate
>This happens
>>52693598
>The hawk's name is Worchestershire
>Eventually they find the trolls, though!
>Behind them is a shivering naked clown
>Cashmere is only saved from becoming mincemeat by two trolls rolling nat 3s
>Lysander punches a hole in one of them with lightning
>Cashmere pulls her dress up and rubs Sigmund's rifle on her thighhighs to enchant it with Bane
>With their powers combined, they shoot down the last troll and scare the third off
>They rush to Bonbon for post-LOGS healing
>>
Reposted from last thread in case interested anon is still around.
>>52695479
The tl;dr version then
>Character is a former slave
>Was used for lots of different things, including sex and breeding
>Got over the worst of his trauma, but still flinches at the noise and sight of chains and sleeps with his back to the wall, away from any doors
Honestly, the backstory is a lot more dark every time I look over it. I'd really love the chance to move the character away from that.

Helping a good drow daughter succeed her evil mother's rule of a massive asteroid city. To do this, they must travel the galaxy, destroy her allies, while recruiting their own, in preparation for the final showdown.

In the end, they were bamboozled, the daughter is no better than the mother, but the daughter is no fool and does her best to not make the players an enemy.

While it's not a mechanical requirement for Silksworn, it's being flavored that Cashmere has to touch or activate the relevant fancy clothes she's wearing to use her spells or focus powers.

I'm sure she's glad transmutation is footwear and that her fiat'd conjuration panties give her no melee touch abilities
>>
>>52695909
Don't worry, I'm sure she'll take the opportunity to complain about your knots being subpar until you use it as a reason to gag her, after which she might continue squirming until you use a firm grip on her red hair to make her hold still.
>>
>>52695966
But the panties are so cute~
She should show them off more!

Reminds me of Traveller campaigns. Someone inherits a crew and needs to get somewhere. A group of different strangers also need a ride to that location and have the skills to help the new ship owner get there.

Avowed's co-writer here. Basically every Warlock ability is in the Avowed (though buffed in many cases), but they learn more invocations I mean clauses, choose a 4e/5e style pact source and get class features based on that, and gain shapes on a seperate side progression.
>>
>>52696050
Hi!
In April Avowed, was it intended that while Clipping Error turns you incorporeal, incorporeal's base rules only let you sink 5ft into the ground at most, so the clause's secondary effect can only ever boost you ten feet upwards?
>>
>>52696050
Pretty similar to the Warlock I know then. Any idea where they are on a tier list? Purely in relation to combat though.
>>
>>52696089

>>

Threw this together quick so I wouldn't run out of time, thoughts?
>>
>>52696089
One, that's not how tiers work. Two, they're decent at combat if you don't invest in the fighting options (and it's VERY possible not to, considering how many out-of-combat things they can choose to do), and great at blasting or single-target elimination (though rarely both on the same character) if you choose to focus on the blasting. Still,10d6 targeting Touch AC out to 60 feet isn't TERRIBLE at 19th level. Not great, but it lets you do more damage than an equally non-combat-focused Alchemist, and that's a good baseline to have.

>Gloriana heals Sigmund, corruption-free.

>She held his calloused hand. With a fervent thought and a silently mouthed prayer, Gloriana invoked the Dead God's Light, the glorious, celestial power of Fallen Iono. She felt it first in her chest, a swelling, blissful warmth, the memory of her mother's embrace, her grandfather's tales, every meal with her sisters and ride with her brothers, the light of the Sun beaming upon the meadow where she walked with her Father, the glimmers of Iono's rays peaking through the trees where she met with her betrothed before they were wed, her mentor's smile, and the sunrise on the morning she swore her sacred vow. The warmth built, and she felt it coursing through her, towards her outstretched hand, towards the kind stranger. The euphoria was overwhelming, and as the presence flowed from her hand into Sigmund's, she quivered and sighed with contentment, aglow with divine satisfaction as her hand was aglow with Iono's Sacred Light.

build your own midcaster, spheres edition.

pick two "traditions" or (archetypes occasionally) and pick spheres to build up a 2/3 caster-like class. I'm a fan of Herbalism tradition, and entropic sage. or font of inspiration and triple goddess.

Hey, anyone got any comments on my Blingmaker app?
https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/4831395/character-applications/?pageforid=4910919#post-4910919

Summary:
>Viviana is the daughter of a minor Taldan Noble, who fled to Brevoy after some political unpleasantness.
>Grew up helping her parents con/cheat/steal from everyone around them in order to get by, and maintain the semblance of a noble lifestyle.
>Learns to sword fight, in order to have her father's back if a con goes south.
>Pretty damn good at it; they start building up a tiny criminal empire.
>Gets too cocky for her own good, and tries to rob a couple of adventurers.
>Fails, gets beaten within an inch of her life.
>Bailed out by a Don Quixote-esque "knight," who's bearing the crest of a noble house
>Knows the guy is crazy, but also thinks he's a noble, and becomes the knight's "squire" in the hopes of getting closer to the money.
>Spends the next six months sleeping under bridges and tilting at windmills.
>Legitimately comes to admire the man's idealism.
>Turns out he was/is a member of the Empyreal Guardians.
>Old man mortally wounded saving her from ogres.
>Smiles as he dies, just happy she's safe.
>A bit shaken up and confused, she starts the journey home.
>Upon arriving back in New Stetven, she sees someone getting mugged and, without thinking, he leaps to the person's aid, and gets stabbed in the process.
>At that moment, her Soul Candle manifests.
>Lying there, bleeding out in an alley, and staring at the physical manifestation of her soul, she comes to a realization.
>All Viviana really wants to be is a Knight.
>Still bleeding, she limps home, gathers up everything on his father, and turns it into the guard; incriminating herself in the process.
>Flees the city, to find a quest that'll make up for all the shit she's done
>Ends up in the Greenlands, and is mistaken for one of the mercenaries hired to clear out the area. A misconception she has no desire to disabuse.

Would it be possible to make someone who is competent at grappling but uses something else as a main weapon and not gimp both horribly? Assuming PoW allowed.

Like say an archer with a spiked gauntlet, or an axe thrower that starts suplexing people after he runs out of axes, or someone who uses a trip weapon and occasionally follows up with a grapple and uses bite attacks.
>>
Asking again. Is there any class that gets magic item crafting but not outright spellcasting that isn't an Aegis or Mystic?
>>
>>52697628
Yes. It's called taking Improved Grapple and Greater Grapple.

And no, you shouldn't actually do that, nor should you build your character around the slim chance that you'll get to bang the Blingmaker girls with a choking fetish.
>>
>>52697664
Vizier with Path of the Crafter, Avowed with the Tinker archetype.
>>
>>52697668
Wasn't actually going to sign up for those, I just think grappling looks fun and the idea of an archer pummeling some warrior's face in with a gauntlet that has razor blades welded to it sounds amazing to me. Also since I said bite attacks you should have assumed Overlewd probably, though I won't be signing up for that either.
>>
>>52697511
But anon! Why don't you become her friend and maybe even play with her?
>>
>>52697672
That seems like such a bizarre archetype for Avowed to get.
>>
>>52697722
It's because 3.5e's Warlock had inexplicable item crafting, too. Baking it into the main class would have been even odder (seriously, why the hell did Warlocks get that), so we opted to make it an archetype.

And there's nothing else I take it? Shit.

>>
>>52698081
As every single 3.5e option the Warlock has is available to the Avowed, I can assume you have issues with the many options available for character customization, the increased power of most of its abilities, and the larger number of abilities learned. As a result, I'd recommend you ask your DM to allow Complete Warrior's Samurai, which should fit your tastes very well.

Not him, but to be honest, yes. The number of times you guys have gone 'whoops, guess that was gamebreakingly strong too' and had to nerf out entire builds is ridiculous. You shouldn't be starting with your numbers set to maximum and tuning down, you should be starting with your numbers low and turning them up. That's just basic game design.

No those are just kinda lame and silly looking. Also not permanent. I generally envision golem's and robots when I think construct as opposed to Yensid's dancing brooms.
>>
Honestly constructs will never be a thing when undead are ridiculously cheaper and actually useful.
>>
>>52698204
You know nothing stops you from making your animated objects humanoid and golemny, right? And yeah, they can totally be permanent, that's what Bestow Life is for. I did exactly what you're trying to do, man. Golemancer.
>>
>>52698174
You're right. That was unprofessional of me, and I'll avoid doing so in the future.
That said, we don't start with our numbers set to maximum. Aether Channel's damage was overtuned because we forgot to account for non-numerical weapon enhancement bonuses. (Forrest doesn't use them in her builds.) Self Pact was overtuned because Monk's armor class bonus and Paladin's save bonus were not believed to be overtly powerful, and we hadn't considered that the Avowed was able to use a PRIMARY attribute for those abilities rather than the secondary/tertiary the Monk and Paladin do.

Our intention has always been to aim low and tune them up. Self Pact and Aether Channel were overtuned because we missed certain variables. They have now been rectified.

Also Bestow Life is an advanced talent(which is almost never available) that also turns the object into a magical beast for bizarre reason.
>>
>>52698235
Personally, my problem with the Avowed is that it does everything. You could literally have a party of nothing but Avowed, and be as good or better at every traditional role than any of the core classes. That's absurd flexibility, and it doesn't give anything up for it. When someone asks "what does this class do", the earnest answer should not be "everything".
>>
>>52698272
Still just an object floating around and not a humanoid, m8. That might work for you but it doesn't suit my purposes. The concept just doesn't work in PF.

>>
>>52698290

No they're still a constructs. Just not active. A human body doesn't suddenly become a corpse because it falls asleep does it?
>advanced talents are almost never available
Except that's legitimately true, and even if you did it stops being a construct and becomes a magical beast.
>>
>>52698314
>golem that's not alive
>somehow the same as a sleeping human in any way
Do you know what not alive means? Or do you still think your dog moved to a farm upstate when you were twelve?
>>
>>52698279
Your opinion has been noted, but a major design goal of the Avowed has always been to function in a variety of roles depending on build. The Warlock in 3.5e never quite has a defined party role - a broad 'utility caster/melee striker/battlefield control limited by slots'.

As the base concept of the Avowed ("I have made a pact with an entity or concept which empowers me") does not inherently imply a party role, we thought it was best not to limit it. Perhaps your Fiend-pact Avowed is a heavily-armored dark knight, a subtle and mysterious seductress, or a roaring conflagration of barely-restrained hellfire. Certain pacts are pushed towards certain roles, but a Shadow-pact Avowed can certainly feel like they're contributing as a primary striker should they choose to build around that.

Ultimately, we're inclined to disagree - the Avowed cannot do everything, but it can do any ONE thing. And that's a key difference.

Realistically, how many times did ANY player inside /pfg/ use Craft Magic Arms and Armor to actually craft?

I know that Scribe Scroll and Brew Potions are some favorites, with Craft Wondrous Item being the shining child in "big" craft talents, but i am wondering about this specific one.

>>
>>52698279

So it's a spellcaster?
>>
>>52698370
If inanimate golems are creatures, then how do you create golems? According to you, once you finish building it, it just suddenly becomes a creature, and you can't animate creatures, after all.
>>
>>52698385
Yes, a golem is just an object before being a golem. But when you turn it into a golem it turns into a golem and not an animated objects, because animated objects are intended to be their own separate things and not golems.

I don't get why you're sperging out so much when I say "no animated objects are not what I'm looking for conceptually for X, Y, and Z reasons". Like Jesus, calm down.
>>
>>52698405
"I don't want to animate man-shaped robots, I want to animate man-shaped robots!"

Jesus christ, dude. Go check into the special school, I'm fucking done.
>>
>>52698396
Because the specific rule saying you can deactivate a construct you create.
>>52698413
Because animated objects aren't man-shaped robots. Pretty much every example given in the game of "animated object" is something like an animated chair, cage, or weapon. The obvious intent behind that category of construct is clear.
>>
>>52698355
Its a cohort tier feat
Wizards and other casters will rarely take it since they wont directly benefit from it but maybe fighters and other martials with bonus feats would.
>>
>>52698413
It's like the difference between weapons and improvised weapons.

One is designed specifically for the purpose, the other is just kind of used to work that way, usually for the sake of convenience or to keep it better hidden.
>>
>>52698425
>how do you create them if you can only animate objects and you claim they're not objects?
>because you can deactivate them!
Literally what? Did you have a stroke, anon?
>>
>>52698359
Are you preemptively saying I'm getting rejected or what
>>
>>52698405
Once you've "killed" a golem, the magic which once powered it goes away and it simply becomes a pile of whatever material it was. It is no longer a golem, it is no longer a creature.

Animate it.

It's the same principle behind why shrink object works on corpses. Once you corpse you are no longer a person, you are an object.
>>
>>52697700

>>
>>52698454
I bet you would, you filthy slut. You probably want to hold her hand, cuddle in her bed, maybe even take her out for a nice dinner!
>>
>>52698460
And they don't work like golem's
And the don't look like golems

And by every example given in the book, it is clear that they are not supposed to BE golem's.

Animated objects are obviously intended to be things like moving chairs and brooms.
>>
>>52698460
It's not like his whole problem couldn't be solved by craft (basketweaving) anyways.
>>
>>52698471
Have you looked into the Empath Medium? Astral Constructs are essentially the same thing as golems [humanoid constructs], and the Empath can have a dozen or more summoned at a time, as long as he binds Obelisk and is mindful of his totem. I used this to devastating effect more than once.
>>
>>52698450
Then you just have a pile of rocks/golem stuff hopping around because that's what animated objects is.

Just like if you used animate object on a corpse, you don't get a zombie. Using animate object on something golem shaped doesn't get you a golem.
>>
>>52698485
Please tell us what "golem" means to you then, because to the rest of us, it means "animate thing in the vague shape of a human", and this entire conversation is painting you as literally insane.
>>
>>52698483
That also doesn't work conceptually for what I'm looking for, even if it is effective. I'm not looking for summons. What I'm looking for is pretty much impossible to do in PF without a busted amount of gold.
>>

No. That's not how Pathfinder rules work. Read the page you just linked.

Yeah, we're arguing sense and you're arguing nonsense.

"You can't cast animate object on a doll, to animate a doll you have to use the ritual that involves sacrificing someone's soul, because I said so."

If I animate a pile of doll parts and then have them assemble themselves into a doll afterwards, what happens?
>>
>>52698668
No.

Golems in the Pathfinder ruleset are their own subset of creature within the category of "Construct" right?

So are Animated Objects, Robots, and a bunch of other miscellaneous creatures that can be created with the "Craft Construct" feat.

I wanted to make golems. Anon said, just use animated objects. I'm arguing that animated objects generally aren't humanoid as the examples given in the books and bestiaries seem to indicate that generally speaking animated objects are just objects that move around while more humanoid/bestial looking constructs are their own separate things. Thusly, animated object doesn't suit my purposes.
>>52698692
I never said you can't cast animated object on a doll. I'm saying the thing you get when you cast animated object on a doll isn't a Golem, it's an animated object in the shape of a doll which would just be a doll that floats around and smacks people in the face. That's not what I'm looking for.

>And also some wankery about how you can't animate objects if they're humanoid, followed by backpedalling about how okay maybe you can
I never said that though. I said an animated humanoid object isn't a Golem, and I still stick by that. Pretty much everything else in this conversation, including your little summary is shit you fabricated.
>>
>>52698815
For the third time, anon, what does Golem mean to you? By your own claims, it's not the name, or "is humanoid" or "moves" or "is a construct" or "is a permanent companion". What feature of "Golem" are you actually after, here? What's driving you to argue this for two straight hours?

>>
>>52698849
You did claim that it wasn't because it wasn't named "golem". Which is the only reason I've bothered this long. Because I'm trying to help you find something that does what you want, you blithering idiot.

And as for the rest of it every time someone points out that you can get that with an option that isn't literally "build a golem out of the bestiary", you say "but that's not a golem".

So for the FOURTH goddamn time, WHAT MAKES A GOLEM A GOLEM, IN YOUR MIND, SO WE CAN FIND YOU A BUILD THAT DOES THAT, FOR FUCKS SAKE.

If you mean undead, I would like to point out that undead in PF are horrible things that are all super unpleasant if you ever lose control of them - even the mindless ones have a charisma and wisdom score, meaning they are like oozes and vermin - except instead of hunger, they are motivated by their alignment.

Which happens to be evil.

This is a BAD THING.
>>
>>52698874
>You did claim that it wasn't because it wasn't named "golem".
No, I didn't. Animated Objects aren't golem's. I asked for an X and people insisted I use a Y.
>And as for the rest of it every time someone points out that you can get that with an option
Except they haven't with the exception of Medium Astral Construct guy. Everyone else has just insulted and shitposted at me because I don't think a dancing chair is the same thing as a stone/admantine/clockwork humanoid creature.
>>52698881

I also believe Elves, like deer, should be allowed to reabsorb or abort their children at will in response to fear or famine.

In fact, I would argue that Elves should have twins during times of bounty, and since civilization (especially Elven civilization) is always a time of bounty, Elves should typically have twins or even triplets by default.

Imagine the cultural ramifications of always having a fraternal or identical twin. Maybe this is the norm in Sovyrian and Kyonin's just the weirdo backwater.

Hell's Rebels Group A session 3!

The game started almost an hour late because of technical difficulties and it was mostly one big fight drawn over 4 hours... but it was still pretty fun. Just as a reminder, 2hu couldn't play so Serigala split off the group and started to decipher important documetns we have found. His place was taken by Alphonse, greaser rat with a power to grant us bonus turns. 2hu was still passingly present, but mostly offering commentary.

>the party enters big underground room with old cistern
>cistern is filled with disgusting goo and two lemures, walls are scribbled with ritualistic symbols
>turns out it's a summoning circle and the last part of ritual was the presence of mortal souls
>suddenly portal to hell appears at the bottom of cistern!
>4 additional devils go out of it and there will be more if we don't smash the summoning circle
>Estelle takes position near the edge and preapres an action to teleport to the bottom and attack one of the devils once Sophia jumps down
>Sophia gets closer, crits with her chakram, takes out a lemur and jumps down with her second turn (Alphonse grants additional truns, just a reminder)
>she botches her acrobatics roll and falls down, landing prone covered in noxious goo
>Estelle teleports down anyway and attacks one of the devils instead of the circle which turns out to be a mistake
>Hana buffs because bard
>everything goes to shit

>goo prompts two Fort saves and Estelle gets sickened for rest of the encounter
>summoning circle is etched on solid stone and covered with water so it halves weapon AND energy damage and applies hardness
>Estelle has a maneuver for ignoring hardness and damage reduction but lol mystic, it is granted randomly at the very end so her damage is too low to destroy the portal
>demons buff themselves and score like two crits on Estelle, she can't counter because the goo counts as difficult terrain and her counter requires her to make a 5 ft. step
>new devils appear
>she is crited and full-attacked to death, left at exactly -1 HP
>would be worse but Hana helped
>Sophia has to waste actions on getting up, eats AoOs, attacks the circle for over 40 damage but it is still not enough
>Alphonse grants Estelle a turn, as written it allows her to take an action to heal herself with Triage
>33 HP restored
>Blinkling 2: Resurrection
>she gets up, finally smashes the circle
>some teleporting, stiking and kiting with triage and reach later the fight ends
>wtf I hate water now
>I also hate devils
>mystic recovery is crap, pls buff

We made some critical tactical mistakes, like Estelle chosing to attack devils on her first turns rather than prioritizng the circle or Sophia not jumping straight into the center of cistern and instead doing it near the wall and falling down. Hana also did not quite utilize her potential though +4 to hit, damage and AC was a godsend. Estelle also had bad luck with devils critting her but in the end it worked out and was pretty fun even if a little frustrating that we had to resort to RAW shenanigans to save the doggo.

I can kinda sympathize with the golem guy, but only so far as sharing frustration that the system is janky and doesn't really outline things very well. Animated Objects are an alright base for a construct, but they still hit limitations in how much you can customize them. Construct crafting by and large feels like a minigame of "can I jury rig what I want and get the GM to sign off" if you want to branch out further than the absolute basics.

You might want to consider a small race depending on the game you're in too. Alternatively you could keep a wand of Reduce Person ready.

How much is the price for an undead slave? They don't eat, sleep, or breathe, and as far as I know they're just 0HD commoners given the undead template. You could likely base it off the one-time cost for an undead slave, though with a larger price tag. Lemme poke through the books, however...

Craft construct on the PFSRD has a section for homunculi. It's a one time cost of 1k gp to get the alchemist laboratory to make a homunculus, and then 50gp for the materials required to make it. I'd ask your GM if you could fiat a couple of things, and have an agreement set up that would prevent you from wrecking the game with them. Ask if you can make 0HD homonculi using the NPC elite array and NPC class levels, and figure out a price for it. You REALLY need to work with the gm with this one
>>
>>52698922
Oh.

the answer is yes, you can do that, but it isn't a golem, and doesn't have any of the qualities a golem would have. It is an animated object, which has entirely different and seperate qualities.

The main difference is the spell animate object has a description and a separate monster listing. the appearance of an animated object is meaningless except in terms of capabilities that it may be given as part of the spell.

There is even a description specifically for "statue" in the animated object monster entry.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/constructs/animated-object/

>>52699096
You are incorrect. it might not be able to open a closed hand, but they can walk on their legs and move their arms, and possibly fingers if they have an open hand. Otherwise there are a slew of abilities they could not use, such as grab, pull trample, etc.

The price for an undead slave is learnign necromancy. If you can't control it you're fucked. Honestly, you break the game from having a cohort. You don't break the game with a bunch of NPC classed followers.

An animal companion doesn't have any class features. A cohort is essentially another spellcaster or buffmonkey on the team. I've never had issues with animal companions and special mounts (save that I don't do pet classes in gestalt games or any game with 4+ players), and familiars have never been an issue. Eidolons can be extremely powerful, and Cohorts are essentially "an extra PC at level-2 for a single feat" that REALLY need to be inspected carefully by a DM in order to not break anything. Most DMs ban Leadership for a reason

>An animal companion doesn't have any class features.
They have the equivalent, like rake, pounce, grab, powerful charge, etc. Even the lesser ones have fly speed, and stealth/scouting capability.

>A cohort is essentially another spellcaster or buffmonkey on the team.
Not always a cohort could also be an animal companion, bodyguard, crafter, flankbuddy, etc. Even if it is another caster, a buffmonkey could be expected from an npc rather than a pc who would prefer to do something else.

>I've never had issues with animal companions and special mounts (save that I don't do pet classes in gestalt games or any game with 4+ players), and familiars have never been an issue.
Anecdotal, I've also never seen wizards buff their familiars into killing machines with shit like transformation, mirror image, etc. This is pretty much expected out of druids and summoners too.

>Eidolons can be extremely powerful, and Cohorts are essentially "an extra PC at level-2 for a single feat

Essentially would depend on the GM though, and even a PC-2 is probably still more balanced than an Eidolon who can never really die or be dismissed or be held captive, have their own motivations and obligations, etc. Most DMs ban Leadership because they don't like the bookwork of having say a bunch of low-level npc followers with distinct personalities and shit.

>>
>>52700914
Not really, it can work but it can also backfire horribly. I have my own method I will share with all of you now.

Look at other applicants and try to mesh with them. It's best if you are friends with them and can prepare your PCs in ways that mesh well. This shouldn't be straight duo app, do not mention them in your backstory, just leave places where they can be easily inserted or, if you both don't get in, replaced with some NPC or other app. Estelle in Hell's Rebels was made so she could easily become Serigala's maid and Yukiko from Shardwalkers is a natural pick with Blossom because princess and her maid. I will admit that the second one wasn't really intentional but hey, it clicked!
>>
>>52700894

When I was putting together the app it was a bit rushed since I have a hard time writing backstory, I find if I let it sit I never finish. So my whole goal was to keep it short and just make sure to include some negative traits, otherwise it would've just "healslut". I liked the idea of having a bit of a dark angle to play with, at least that was the idea.

In both of those instances though you have to have a DM who wants princesses and maids. Personally those would be things I would never accept into a game I was running, unless I knew the player really well.

I suppose there's the argument that the apps that get meme'd are just the best ones, but it seems more likely that anons, and anonDM's alike, just vote with their dicks.

Sometimes you try to mimic someone you used to know with your work, and it just doesn't quite come out the same way. But hey, she's always smiling and motivated to do good work even if she does trip over her own feet sometimes.

Really start to get into what makes a "good" app is so super subjective. I auto tune out of apps longer than about six paragraphs total.

For me I like general concepts more than specific details, so if I see an idea I like the actual quality of the app barring really bad grammar is sort of irrelevant.

I don't know how this falls in the spectrum of the people who post in the thread, but it's not like anyone is writing masterful fiction within the constraints of the app process anyway.

>In both of those instances though you have to have a DM who wants princesses and maids.
Those were just examples. Of course the it isn't sure way to get in but it helps. Once the GM looks through apps and picks his favourites going "X and Y look like they will work together well" can be that final push meaning you are getting picked instead of someone else. Hanging out around Discord or IRC, asking some questions, presenting yourself so you are at least a bit recognizable, actually writing something interesting and matching tone of the game - it's all important.

Oh yeah, long backstories just aren't worth my time.
>>
>>52701159
Not gonna lie, if both me and someone the thread shipped with my app got into the same game together I'd have my character treat him/her nicer then the others, but not outright go straight for romance. Unless they were into it too, but I'd let them make the first move. Sometimes, you can fluff romance like that as a divine spark pushing two together.
>>
>>52701180

You're arguing for something much worse than memeing though, cliques. If DM's are going to run their shit through discord and pick players based on liking them personally then they should do that, not open it up to the thread and take people they chat with daily.

There's a gulf of difference between a woman that happens to get pregnant in the campaign, a woman that WANTS to have a child with a character and has one in the campaign... And a woman that happily rubs her gravid belly as a small flock of children scamper about her feet.

Using meme couples as an example, Shayliss getting preggers by Seht isn't a fetish, but Amalthea literally demanding you fill her up is.

I don't think Discord has helped people get in except by improving their apps honestly.
>>
>>52701222

But not every uses discord, and not all DM's make their discord info public.

Anonymous self-shilling is also one way to get memed. There are other characters in Blingmaker that people liked and get name-dropped every so often, but don't get memed because the anon that made them are not interested in such things.
>>
>>52701415
I honestly have no idea who any of the characters in Blingmaker are but I haven't looked

I do know about the based nuggetman though
>>
>>52701415

Threads and people also have limited memory. Could also be the anons who made the apps trying to low key shill.

You can take Monstrous Companion feat to get a griffon as a cohort, or Monstrous Mount feat to get a griffon as an animal companion or special mount. Note that griffons have Int 5 and know Common, so thematically it's less like taming the griffon and more like making friends with one enough that it decides to stay with you.

I do the opposite. I want to see a player sell their concept to me rather than just give me a nondescript sentence about it and letting my own biases (rather than the player's vision) color the idea and the app.

It's why boiling existing apps down to a summary so often creates something that completely does not represent the original character.

Why are so many fucking beasts intelligent in Pathfinder?
Since an animal that gets >2 becomes a magical beast, if does a magical beast that's reduced to <3 Int become a normal ,tameable animal
>>
One of the #1 things to keep in my mind for apps is party comp I'd imagine. Look at Blingmaker, about 70% of the apps are melee focused characters, there are what, two divine characters? 3-4 arcane?
>>
>>52701479
>Why are so many fucking beasts intelligent in Pathfinder?

Because they're based on mythical creatures that were more intelligent than animals.

>if does a magical beast that's reduced to <3 Int become a normal ,tameable animal
>"normal"

Having a lowered Int doesn't take away your memories of having a higher Int, you retard-abusing jerk.
>>

>Because they're based on mythical creatures that were more intelligent than animals
But were they like full on sapient though.
>Having a lowered Int doesn't take away your memories of having a higher Int
I'm sure there's magic for that.

Alternatively just keep hitting them in the head.
>>
>>52701479
>Since an animal that gets >2 becomes a magical beast

They don't. An animal can get more than 2 int, they simply cannot start with more than 2 int. It's an FAQ, else Druids would get fucked over.

>Played a character of indeterminate really old age in a low fantasy campaign where the players are members of a nomadic plains dwelling tribe. He was an alchemist. Extremely senile; would often forget things that happened moments before, or get distracted in the middle of combat. Also very wise; knew secrets of medicine and nature, and could very nearly predict the weather. At one point, after dropping a casual comment about being there at the birth of the chief's father (the chief is also very old), the DM tells me he's going to secretly roll a d4 for how many years I have left, because I'm obviously past venerable at this point. Throughout the campaign, have tons of fun doing things like rejecting mistaken advances from a young lady because "that hasn't worked in years, lass", and offering healing potions to undead because they "look a bit under the weather". He called himself "The Warlock" and nobody had heard his actual name for so long that none of the tribespeople even remembered it.
>Eventually, things took a turn for the tragic, and his tribe was decimated while the party was out on a hunt for some supplies. Warlock was having none of this shit. He was an expert in medicine. Surely he could help his people. So he wracked his mind, and came up with a solution. The party quested for reagents. He prepared the infusions. Days after the massacre, he administered a miraculous medicine to all the fallen nomads. They awoke... as alchemical zombies. He couldn't tell the difference, and was absolutely convinced that he had developed a life restoring medicine.
>The campaign went on, with Warlock devoting his share of treasure to finding a suitable place for his tribe to live in safety, and relocating them there. Also amassing an ever growing zombie legion, including a zombie purple worm which the party hollowed out and used as a mobile base of operations.

>Good times. The campaign ended before his 1d4 year time limit became an issue, though.
