EVO hacker is great and minesweeper is cheap. Not sure about the TR one though, suppressive fire does the same job.

Depends on your list. Normally I'd take one regular HD in every list, and an assault hacker is often a good idea for anti-armour work, but it depends.

Trying to figure out what to spend 3.5SWC and 54 points on in this CA list. I want Ani and Sphinx to tag team as the biggest shits. Maybe I should ditch the gwailos and just get a clutch of gakis.

>>52612532
EVO bot is pretty sweet. You can drop Tigers for days, all your REMs can get burst 2 AROs, you can do Coordinated hacking. You can sat-lock shit through walls easy for guided missiles/spec fire.

If you have the EVO, celestial, and ninja you will be super safe. EVO and guard will buff/utility hack while a ninja can safeguard them with a KHD.

If you just take a guard and ninja, Id recommend giving the ninja an AHD.

There are two reasons the Gorgos is considered bad
>if you don't make one save against fire ammo, that's 3 wounds of TAG down the drain.
>Tohaa is so full of ridiculous over the top bullshit that anything that's only decent is considered trash.
It's a Seraph that trades super jump for AP on its spitfire, better supporting guns, BTS9, mimetism for its buddy and the ability to turn into a specialist with a spitfire after death. Gorgos is a pretty sweet deal, especially since Makauls can cover its approach with eclipse grenades.

>is there any use for inexpensive, linkable, smoke-chucking 4-4 ARM 3 units armed with T2 Rifles and AP HMGs
>>
>>52613536
In vanilla? Yeah I guess, the T2 rifles are alright. Lay smoke, go doorkicking with the burst 3 shotguns and then set up some real mean suppressive fire. Don't expect them to last the whole game, but they can do some real damage while they're still alive.

In CHA, hell yeah. Put the AP HMG in a Volunteer link and fuck some shit up with your smoke throwing super HMG. Or use the T2 shotgun as filler for a Mormaer haris.
>>
>>52613600

The Gorgos is a beast. Needs some support but usually way hard to take down.

1st, grab a symbiomate. Fire is bad. Being able to ignore all damage rolls except for crits helps remedy that. A symbio bomb is also an amazing toolset (stun, immobilize, isolation, damage, white noise, nimbus, and healing).

2nd, utilize TAG tactics. Use your superior mobility to force good situations. Know when to pull back from an attack run. End turns in suppression. Remember everything is in support of the mission.

3rd, utilize the fuck out of the Peripheral. Remember AROs cannot split burst, so force 2v1 and some is getting free shots. I prefer the LS variant since it can force mean face to faces with burst 2 with the option to spec fire. If there is a repeater, send the Peripheral after it. If your potential targets are weak, you can send the peripheral after separate targets while the TAG hoses others. Also have it watch the TAG's flanks. Hell get burst 2 damage 17 viral CC action if needed.

4th, bring at least a second hitter to keep your opponent off balance. A Rasail is great since they have the wounds and Peripheral to force ugly situations. A linked symbio trooper can also work.

5th, study your arsenal and use it to force bad decisions. The Gorgos has templates galore. If a fireteam is getting cheeky at range, fling the template flammenspeer. Up close, force your opponent to choose between eating a Pulsar or dodging face to face BS/CC attacks. If you have a bomb remember pheroware needs to be reset, not dodged.

Overall it's a great TAG, just a Tier below the TO, Avatar, Marut TAGs.
>>

You don't want an AD Lt because you will start your first turn in LoL which is really really bad.

You have a Kuang Shi Control Device and no Kuang Shi which are great order generators and might help you with the annoying 6/7 split you are running.

I have yet to see someone run an effective Smart Missile Launcher in N3 that didn't just cost a ton of orders to do something plenty of other models could have done for cheaper, swapping the Son-Bae for another Husong might serve you better.

You have no MSV which will make it hard to deal with camo (assuming you are a new player that is, flamethrowers and mines are great against camo once you get the hang of them) and I really don't think a sniffer is a good investment here unless you expect camo spam.
>>
>>52614521
I guess I can run a Zuyong Liet or maybe take more Keisotsu to disguise a Lietenant?

Took the Kuang Shi for the smoke, but maybe I would be better served by 3 Shaolin monks?

The Rui Shi has MSV2, so maybe swap the Son Bae for another Rui Shi?

The sniffer is still a 6-4 forward observer that can sat lock. Since it has a repeater the Evo Remote gives it B2 if I run the Overclock program.

Overclock would affect Weibing and Rui Shi,

The Rui Shi has MSV2, the Lu Duan has MSV1, I took 2 monks for extra smoke, the Guilang has a Deployable repeater to extend the range of my Ninja and basic hacker, and since I had a couple extra points I made the Keisotsu into forward observers.

I chose the Heavy Shotgun Su Jian because I felt with its high speed that it could take advantage of the range and AP rounds vs hard targets.

TO camo units don't have to start in hidden deployment, they can just be a marker. Normally I'd say it's a bit of a waste, but EI Aspects do make really good lieutenants.
>>
>>52615045
total waste. 70 points for a marker, not a token. those aspects are super duper tough and it'll be pretty obvious what it is i think since its S6 people will think its either a sphinx or anathematic, and pursue it relentlessly
>>
>>52615075
That's why you put the Sphinx on the other side while they're pursuing what they think is your main killer. And it's not like Ana is easy prey, she's unlikely to die in the first turn if you keep her behind something and have an Ikadron nearby. In my experience hidden deployment isn't worth losing a mnemonic WIP16 lieutenant.

Filthy Nomads.

You're huddled behind a wall monitoring your yaozao, keeping it behind the Guijia as it makes its way down the street, laying withering fire down whilst the most honoured celestial guard follow behind. On the roof above, you can hear the constant hiss of missiles, a glorious Yan Huo keeping the flank pinned down with salvo after salvo.
This should be simple. We have such firepower, what hope can those nomads have against the might of Yu Jing?

Your question is answered promptly by the crunch of metal punching through concrete, followed shortly by the absence of any more missiles. Did the Yan-Huo run out of ammunition?
"Goncheng Anon," you hear your commander crackle over your comms. "Our Yan-Huo has been hacked by a dirty Nomad. Go fix it."
With a sigh you scramble up a ladder on the side of the building, cresting the rooftop to see the Yan-Huo immobile whilst its armour is peppered by combi rifle fire, a pitched Nomad repeater blinking beside the colossus as it broadcasts its dirty trick. With a short burst of your combi rifle you riddle the repeater with bullets, letting you rush over to the Yan Huo and get to work.
"Don't worry, Honourable sir," You assure as you patch into the suits systems. "I'll get you fighting again."
"That's Ma'am, Goncheng." You hear a muffled feminine voice inside the suit say, giving you pause.
You were not expecting this, but another flurry of Nomad rifle fire snaps you out of your musings, and after a failed try, you manage to restore Her suit's systems to optimum levels.
Almost instantly the missiles on her shoulders rotated and sent a salvo of explosive death down to her assailants, letting you sigh with the satisfaction of a job well done.
You take cover behind a small ledge and go back to monitoring your gao-zao with the advance, when a message on your commlink gives you pause.

"Thanks for saving my life back there. Dinner at 9?
Xiùlán Qiáng"

Yes, certainly a job well done.

"Err...command? Anyone? Anon here, just wondering...where are you guys!?"
You did not sign up for this shit when you joined the 112 Emergency Service. Antipodes? sure. Bandits? No problem! But being left behind in some crater strewn shell of a suburb was not what you were getting paid for. At least you were behind friendly lines this time.

You pick your way through what looks to be an abandoned school, hoping you could find some sort of computer terminal or phone you could send a message through to your command when you saw it. There, silhouetted by the light shining through the massive hole in the roof was one of them. A jump trooper from the Combined Army, hanging limply over the teacher's desk and with one of her wings dangling by some sort of fleshy sinew.

Hang on, it's a she.

You poke the, what did the guide say they were...fractures? Fractals? with your shotgun, earning a pained groan from the trooper. Right, she's alive. You have a duty of care to her. You kick away the rifle and search her for any more weapons, tossing the pistol and knife away so you could work without getting shot.
>>
>>52616941
"Err..right. Hello? My name's Anon, and I'm a doctor here to heal you. You understand? DOCTOR." you say slowly, taking off your back pack and opening it up.
"I can understand your primitive language just fine, monkey." You hear the combined soldier wheeze, a surprisingly pretty voice for an alien.
"Monkey? That's not very nice." you retort as you unpack a pair of scissors and a green whistle of Penthrox. "Besides, your army is the one with the red-faced gorillas. Here, suck on this pain killer." She opens her mouth to object, only to find a green plastic whistle quickly filling it whilst you attempt to open up her symbiont suit to assess the damage. "Right-o, let's see...looks like you have a few broken ribs, a fractured tibia, and is that...yeah, a puncture in your abdomen. Surprising how our anatomies are alike, huh?" you comment, keeping up the banter as you work. "And I must say, It's a very nice anatomy."
"You...think to flirt with your betters?" She wheezes, the pain killers doing their work and making her somewhat groggy.
"It's keeping you awake, isn't it?" You answer jovially, bandaging her chest to keep the ribs in place. Interesting, for such an advanced race you think the concept of underwear would be a thing.
You go to work on the other wounds, cleaning the puncture in her side with some benadine and rubbing alcohol, causing the fraactal trooper to hiss and curse alien at you as you dressed and bandaged it up.
"Just need to splint your leg aaand...done." You flash her a smile, eyes half closed from the pain killers. "You just rest there for a bit, okay?"
"Very...well, hu-mann..." She slurred. "Thank you for your...treatment. But if you tell any of my comrades what happened here, you'll die in...your..." And with a soft thud, her head fell back against the desk, the trooper sleeping soundly.

Ariadna is filled with low cost units, Haqq isnt far behind either. CA has tons of cheap order generators to fuel their expensive dudes. Tohaa work off of Triad fireteams so even if you arent taking the expensive options they will still be really damn strong.

No, that's actually pretty normal in terms of Wu Ming investment. I personally prefer a second FO instead of tinbot or perhaps Zhanying madtrap, but that's fine.

Maybe fit in a Weibing or Rui Shi. Shooting mods will be a weakness.

In regards to wrangling Kuang Shi you can deploy them further back so they end their impetuous in total cover. Do not put them right next to buildings or they may climb.

If you are willing to spare the command tokens, you can start with one set of KS in a core fireteam and switch to Wu Ming after impetuous phase. This may be risky if you are going second and your opponent is good at alpha strike.

That's it. I'm sick of all this "Masterwork Bastard Sword" bullshit that's going on in the Infinity system right now. Katanas deserve much better than that. Much, much better than that.
I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine katana in Yu Jing for 2,400,000,000 Yuan (that's about 20,000,000 Oceana) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even cut slabs of solid Teseum with my katana.

Japanese smiths spend years working on a single katana and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest blades known to mankind.

Katanas are thrice as sharp as Pan Oceanian swords and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a Templar Sword can cut through, a katana can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a katana could easily bisect a T.A.G. wearing full Jotum Armor with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why Pan Oceania never bothered conquering Japan? That's right, they were too scared to fight the disciplined Samurai and their katanas of destruction. Even in Campaign Paradiso, Combined Army Troops targeted the men (and women) with the katanas first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Katanas are simply the best sword that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the Infinity system. Here is the stat block I propose for Katanas:

(one handed weapon)
Damage 15, AP+EXP+Shock
+3 MOD to hit in CC

(two handed weapon)
Monofilament+EXP
+6 MOD to hit in CC

(dual Wielded weapons)
Nanoscreen
Monofilament+EXP
+6 Mod to hit in CC

Best way to start combined Army is with the Onyx Contact force 300 point pack. It's around $100 for a full 300-point army (the typical army size for a full game), and gives you some really strong units to get you started.

That said, the best way to start playing the game is to build up slowly from low point games, adding new rules as you go. Infinity is a complicated game with a lot of rules, and it can be overwhelming for a new player. The starter packs (Operation Icestorm and Operation Red Veil) have pretty good intro scenarios that do a good job of ramping up into a full game, but If nobody is interested in the included armies they probably aren't worth it.

There shouldn't be a problem. The only wonky thing is that you don't get regular flesh and blood mooks but robots to fill that role and those have slightly different rules from normal dudes. You might want to proxy them as morat vanguards in your first games to even out the battlefield.

Is there really that big of a difference in how the basic rules of the Vanguards and Unidrons work? I've just been slowly making my way through the rulebook so far. Either way, thanks, I'll keep all that in mind.
>>
>>52627490
If you include all the rules (which you probably shouldn't at the beginning), there are quite a few. Being robots mean that they are poor at dodging, hackable and extra vulnerable to e/m ammunition, and you need a hacker to bring them at all.

To counter this they are rather cheap for what you get. The plasma carbine is a relatively powerful weapon and the Burst doesn't matter in ARO. You can also boost them with your own hackers. They also have dogged, which means you may choose to fight with them even after they've received a wound and die at the start of the next turn.

Not that vanguards are complete average either. The morat rule makes them rather reliable, if hotheaded.

I don't understand what you're bitching so much about

Are you the same guy who complains about marksmanship on models with BTS weapons?
>>
>>52631335
>Why does the box have 4 of the same type of dude
Because CB is messing with the starter box formula lately. Note how Bakunin starter only has 2 basic Moderators.
>when other have 2 and have to buy another box to complet link
Most other starters have 3 basic dudes. Also there will be no box of Regulars, just the Hacker/LGL dude with Panda as a blister. Which kinda sucks, because that's a shitty profile and now you have to get it to have 5 Regulars, unless you mix in old ones or have repeated sculpts.

Military Orders starter will probably be the same: 2 basic Sergeants, 1 Spitfire, 1 Sniper (may or may not be the non-linkable TO Camo one again) and then a Hospitaller and some other guy (a useless Magister, a Crusader or possibly a sniper Black Friar to annoy NCA players). But Order Sergeants already got a box with an extra combi model (technically the non-linkable Auxbot profile) and some special weapons. Regulars are kind of screwed.

Although from financial perspective it is cheaper to have 4 dudes in a box and a blister and not having to spend money on extra models that you're usually not going to field all at once. Unless they suddenly decide to give Regulars an Auxbot profile and an ML/HRL and make a box anyway.

>Are you the same guy who complains about marksmanship on models with BTS weapons?
No, but I think I'm gonna start.
>>
>>52631889
>Are you the same guy who complains about marksmanship on models with BTS weapons?
Not that guy, but I'm fine with that rules interaction although I do think they should have avoided having it on what's supposed to be a "starter" model.
>>
>>52631989
ok, Am probably just too salty because of the problem with the janisary box.
>>
>>52632295
Well, Janissaries are not basic line infantry and you're unlikely to see more than one in a starter box (there used to be a single one in the old starter). Also they have Hafza glue, which Riot Grrls (soon to be in the same situation) do not.
>>
>>52632333
>Hafza glue
Which has to disguise itself as a Janissary which brings it back to situation one: it's an inconvenient buy.
>>
>>52632333
>Also they have Hafza glue, which Riot Grrls (soon to be in the same situation) do not.
Riots have Haris, which Jans don't.
>>
>>52632432
>>52632473
I guess.
But if you're worried about fielding actual Jan models as Hafza, then the ASA starter pack is an even worse deal for Regulars link. You'd be spending 3.5 SWC on basic ARM 0 troopers in an SWC hungry army and one of them (the sniper) really wants to stay put in her hole while everyone else wants to be moving around. Standard 3 combis + 4 model box (even if the fourth model in the box was just a FastPanda) would have been preferable.
>>
>>52632875
Am actualy worried about having janisaries as janiseries. The box has a contender, Launcher and a rifle and the blister is HMG to have 5 models, one have to buy 2 rifle dudes which means 2 boxs, and that sucks.
>>
>>52632921
That is what the special ops boxes are for... also if you go to ITS tournaments on the reg. you might be able to find some weapon pack gimmies. CB does make them, they just don't really sell them.

Why not? Apart from ethical concerns, from a biological perspective it wouldn't be particularly difficult to do. Life isn't some magical hocus pocus that requires the consent of floaty invisible space monsters, it's just biology. As Cubes are a thing, then the ability to parse neural positioning into thought is a significantly greater hurdle than just sewing on some tackle and gear, tricking the immune system, and doing some basic gene modding so it all runs smoothly.

You forget efficiency. Why incapacitate a body for several years (as baby humans are incredibly vulnerable for a long time) to create a body you need to spend years to educate when you can grow adult ones and imprint all the knowledge you need into them as they grow?

ALEPH aspects probably only look like men and women because that's what humans are comfortable with. Making humanoid aspects was just an aesthetic choice in the first place, ALEPH itself has little need for such creations. But people are better suited to listening to other people than a computer, even if they know it's a soulless abomination.

Either swap the FO, TinBot, or HRL to grab the cheaper CR/SMG Wu Ming. And grab something like a Garuda HMG or BS depending on points.

Or just grab a Rui Shi as is and move some points around to get a Combi Celestial.

Orrrr Sforza and downgrade to Holo1 to pretend and bait as a Celestial with Combi...

Ah, I would be to worried to mess up the models to cut them up. Plastic is good for no skill noobs like me, but conversions in metal are a totaly different pair of shoes.
>>
>>52644430
Not that bad, really. The detail of the models that will need to be resculpted or hidden is more of an issue than the materials.

How some batreps were pretty shitty/fake but still got through. I remember an ariadna player who only played his gf for 90% of his matches - all of which were 100-200pt games, poorly written and vague batreps, and the pics were all very similar.

Also did not like how some locations gave a specific faction points for already owning the place, but, then at the end of the campaign, they were not even counted....so why even have them there to start with.

There was more frustrating elements, but those come to mind the most for me. Also all of the missions (except for Engineering Deck at the time) were just an ITS mission but with Jungle terrain -which most of us ignored-, so it just got stale real fast as well as the bullshit going on.

I do not have a dremel so it is a kind of a non issue. the last time I tried to cut up metal models I had to buy a second box of winterguard. Am not rich enough to train my skills and models that cost money, wish I was, but am not.

It is a bit the same with painting. Although pain is easy to wash off. Right now I settled for the two methods. Pink then orange then brown wash then metal parts go metal for my yu jing. And grey undercoat, black wash, some parts of armor painted white and metal parts go metal for my US ariadna.
It does not look good when you take the model in your hand, but when they are on the table you get a nice late XIX century navy camo effect, and suddenly they do not look that bad.

I suspect like you have unrealistic expectations about how long those kinds of projects should take you and you are rushing through the process.

I also suspect that you aren't using the right tools. You need to use some jewelry pliers.

If you are actually interested in getting gud at modeling, you should also look on ebay for an old lot of metal models to play with to train your skills instead of using new stuff. CB's new stuff is expensive and finely detailed, but there are lots of cheap white metal or pewter models out there to practice head swaps, weapon swaps, and basic green stuff sculpting with.
>>
>>52647489
I do not have money to buy stuff to train with. I hardly mange to buy the models for actual play.
Also there is no place here where I could buy green stuff, or to be more precise there is, but it is too soft and gives a too chalky texture. Ok for filling gaps in plastic or resin models, but not good for metal stuff.
But that does not mean I do not see the merit of someone being able to model stuff.
I just don't have the money to for stuff. Jewlery pliers here cost as much as one and a half blister. And I would rather have alke or a ranger, then something I will be too scared to use anyway.
>>
>>52647963
It would be good to learn how to paint though. Before I settled for the method I use now, I went through 14 tries on a wu ming box. They look crap and the fact that at the same time yu jing kun was posting his glorious models, and saying they are "not good", did not help at all.
to be honest people should be allowed to play with just undercoated models, not everyone can learn how to paint well.
>>
>>52647963
Where do you live? We could suggest some local alternatives.
>>
>>52647997
Personally, I'm just gonna go ahead and paint my stuff despite the fact that my painting skills are ass (see >>52612056)

But people should be allowed to play with unpainted stuff, most people around me have fully metallic armies and nobody has an issue with it, I certainly don't
>>
>>52647997
Don't you get it? Sucking at something is the first step at getting sort of good at something.
>>
>>52647997
>not everyone can learn how to paint well
Unless someone actually has a disability that prevents them from painting that is bullshit.

Anything is better than bare or undercoated models. Just thin your fucking paints, apply primary colors, then slather the whole fucker in appropriate washes and you're done. It's not a masterpiece but it's infinitely better than nothing.
>>
>>52647997
People playing with unpainted armies are cancer.
>>
>>52647963
Why do you have two Infinity armies and also some shit from Warmachine if you can barely afford to play? You need to get some perspective.

>>52647997
I agree. Most of the stuff you see shown off online is stuff that was paintstakingly painted for many, many hours. Some people spend thirty hours on a single model! There is a significant difference between painting for the tabletop and painting for a showpiece. Infact, most of the showpieces I see, I wouldn't use on the tabletop, because the risk of damaging the paintjob would be more than the enjoyment of gaming with them. I've found a few quick and dirty methods to get models that are good enough for the table without spending so much time and effort that I am squeamish about ruining them.

Infinity's art is gorgeous but their models are left wanting, always and big time.
>>
>>52650471
You have bad taste.
>>
>>52650471

Since probably around 2014, Infinity models have pretty much moved to the top of the list of best looking. It isn't even really a contest as GW shit has lagged behind due to their silly scale and the other large companies (warlord, mantic, PP) have always been inferior by a lot of metrics.

Infinity's main disadvantage is they are metal (some people prefer this) and mono-pose. Metal and mono-pause is a bad combo. If you don't like their art direction that is one thing, but all the models are low flash, well constructed, and down right awesome looking.
>>
>>52650594
With a little bit of skill, nothing is mono pose.
>>
>>52648403
I had Warmachine stuff and sold it, to buy infinity. And the yu jing was a luck thing. A guys parent came in to the store, and wanted to sell all his models, because his marks were failing. So I bought a wu ming box and the red veil yu jing +spec ops for the cost of 2/3 of a box. My aleph isn't that huge either. Starter+myrm box+sophotect+alke and phoenix .
>>
>>52648029

>>52648084
And it is not like I haven't tried. Before I settled on the navy camo method, I did the celestials and the wu ming 10+ times.

>>52648403
Oh I do understand the difference. But again the stuff I made looked realy realy bad. Over multiple tries I have not seen any improvment, so I did what one of the guys at my store told me to do.

>>52649075

>>
>>52650594

>>52650886

>>
>>52650943

>>
>>52650886

When it stops being an issue. Infinity stuff isn't designed with conversion in mind. Metal models are significantly more annoying to convert. Infinity packs don't come with spare parts. Models don't swap parts easier.

>>52650711

This is true, but it wouldn't get mentioned if the boxes came with spare components to give your units more variety.

I still think the models are top notch.
>>
>>52650993
Have you never even heard of the spec ops models?
>>
>>52650993
>Infinity packs don't come with spare parts.
...anymore. FFS, a weapon swap won't kill you, CB.
>>
>>52650993
Part of the reason the models are top notch is because they are mono-pose. If you design something to be modular it will either be in a generic boring pose to accommodate all the interchangeable parts, or it'll be an aesthetic mess because it tried to be dynamic with components that don't mesh together properly.
>>
>>52650877
>What is that white thing on top of it?
fluorescent magnifying lamp
>>52650757
I get it, but you aren't going to have a good time in the future without buying the proper tools. You should have stuck with the Yu Jing and picked up some proper tools rather than getting into a second army.

And stay at it with the painting. Painting is one of those things that took me a long time to get kindof okay at, like years and years and I'm still a scrub. I've painting countless models, not like trying something ten times and throwing up my hands and giving up.
>>
>>52650993
I've regularly used the SpecOps weapons to upgrade my dudes with basic weapon swaps and snagged a weapons pack as a boobie prize at an ITS tourney that went to good use.

>>52651022
What? They used to provide that standard?!?!?

Bostria plz!!!!
>>
>>52650943
There are plenty of models that fit this category in GW's range. You can jam pretty much weapon in any models hands if you are creative as well. Every box comes with a lot of spare parts and sometimes even arms.

GW has a lot of models that are complete shit by designed, but they USED be all about conversions and it was significantly easier to have 2 models that are effectively the same thing with some different arm positioning and some extra bits and maybe a head swap. For all its positives, this is something infinity lacks.

The plus side you get models that look significantly better with infinity's metals. So there is that.
>>
>>52651010

Thats like how many packs?

Can you make a whole spec ops model army?

I share the sentiment. Sometime last year and three months ago I made a census, and realized I've painted over a thousand and sixty models (and more since then). Definite improvements can be seen, but in the end I feel like a B- painter. Decent, but not as good as the really good guys. Which is ok by me, but I will soldier on.

Pic related is my most complimented on infinity model.

Yeah, that's closer to what I mean.

Ok, I'll admit I'm high-balling the estimate. It took some three afternoons, rather, painting sometime between 2-4 hours each afternoon, and also taking into account certain waiting periods for washes, highlights, and glazes to dry. A more accurate estimate would have been 6-9 hours but that has a lot of room.

>>52651429
>>52651574
Don't be afraid of posting your own models. If you're not motivated to improve it loses part of its meaning to you as a hobbyist.
>>52652366
ALEPH's been getting some love recently. With Human Sphere N3 there's been some notable reworks to Post-Humans, G:Jumper's a lot more forgiving, they have Mk 4 and 5 now, some even call them OP, and Since last year there have been a couple of non-ASS/Steel Phallus releases (Namely Post-Humans and Garuda). Also a new unit is coming up. Danavas or something. They're still missing the Character Andromeda though, some chick with guardians, but not many have been vocal about wanting to field her.

>>52652451
They're an Onyx unit that's a good Lt and link glue.

>>52652413
It's ok, you don't have a terrible start, some extra practice and you can really get to painting well (plus metal models are easy to strip and repaint). Don't be afraid to wash and drybrush most of the details that aren't armor plates with the Iguana.

Poland?
If so, here's a thread, I'm the OP, I also have some more walls of text later in that thread:
http://www.gry-planszowe.pl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=19540

Also:
- don't buy from GW, they're overpriced and not much better. I found Vallejo, Reaper (hard to get here) and Army Painter to be best for me. AP's paints need more thinning.
- you want fresh glue. CA glue goes bad after 2 months when open, 6 months when sealed. It's not obvious but your joints will be weaker. I buy from big chains or chemical stores that move the product fast and have fresh, if I don't use it in 2 months I use it for terrain instead.
- wash your minis (warm water, soap, scrub with brush) - release agent is a thing and will weaken your paint/glue otherwise.
- If you're a painting newbie/self-proclaimed moron, go with the Army Painter method - prime, 3-4 basic colors, wash, optionally highlights, base, done. Use normal washes instead of their dip stuff though.
- get Vallejo Glaze Medium, it's amazing stuff. Add a drop to your paint (on palette, not a drop per bottle) or paint/water mix, and it'll thin it but not make it run everywhere like a wash. Makes highlights smoother, great for easy OSL.

Do you have to bring a Dozer with a traktor mul control device to bring traktor muls, or can you bring them (as REMs) with isobel or a wardriver or one of the other hacking device options that ariadna has scattered throughout?

Random question /tg/; lately I've been taken to building gimmick lists, putting wierd restrictions on what I can or can't bring, and trying to make effective lists despite that.

In this case, I'm working on a vanilla ariadna list where the rule is 'you must bring a kazak doktor, a 112, and two dozers at 300 points'. Here's what i've got so far; positions in groups liable to change. Any advice? Not gonna bring this to a tournament or anything, but it is definitely up for friendly matches.
>>
>>52656277
It is, muls are supposed to be too low-tech to be controlled by a pilot with the same range as modern REMs so the dozer is effectively the pilot

Either that or they are only hackable for balance reasons

I am a relatively new player.

Can someone explain to me how a Devil Dog team is supposed to work? Specifically, I am referring to the G:Sync rule.

What are the options you have with the antipode and what does it actually bring to the table?

How does Sensor interact with the DD? Can I triangulate fire to remove mods then shoot with the DD? Or basically

Can I move the antipode first to fish out an ARO?

>>
>>52657825
You activate and move them both with the same order. If either member cannot do a skill they Idle instead (e.g. Move-Throw smoke for the DD will be Move-Idle for the antipode).

Antipode is basically a giant dog on an invisible leash. It can (quite effectively) bite enemies and sniff out TO camo, that's it.

IIRC you need to also be an FO to get the fancy targeting, so no. It's just there to help you find TO Camo.

As for the last question... I don't know, actually. But even if it works, it'd be limited usefulness and/or tricky to use.

Oh, and before you ask. No, the DD's smoke grenade's Special Dodge doesn't work on the antipode.

Man I can never figure out how to paint the guns other than boring edge highlights on black.
>>

How would I actually sniff out TO camo?

Basically, I would need LOF to the market. Then do a discover check. Which eats up a whole order and I can't do it with my Imp order.

What can the other player do in response? Could he just shoot me for a bonus?

After that though, I could effectively see them and engage with a weapon or charge.

No. You use the antipode's sensor. It works in ZoC so you can do it from behind a wall or in a building. It works on all camo/TO camo markers in ZOC at once, and also TO camo units in HD (sensor is the only thing that can detect them).
>>
>>52658108
Also, Discover doesn't eat up a whole order. What's more, it's a short MOVEMENT skill, so you can Discover+Shoot against a marker. If you pass Discover or it decides to ARO, you shoot. If you fail Discover and camo doesn't reveal, you waste the shot, but it's still a good option at times.

Ok I miss read the wiki thanks!

What is HD?

>>52658194
Ok thanks!

Red or white slide/side, black barrel, grey magazine, green or some other color thingy in the middle that looks like it should be glowing, and orange/yellow flamethrower barrel.
>>
>>52658370
HD is hidden deployment.

Easiest way to sniff out camo is using a sensor (available on a very common FO remote for most faction, a few other units, and Antipodes).
>>
>>52658174
Another nifty thing you can do is use sat-lock with your pupper, which not only reveals the camo marker, but it also gives it the "targeted" condition, which means you are at a +3 to shoot it, and allows you to bombard the shit out of it with grenades/katyushas/uragans without LOS
>>
>>52658517
Sat-lock is the skill that requires Sensor and Forward Observer.

The anon before mentioned Triangulated Fire which is granted by Sensor but the Antipode doesn't have any ranged weapons.
>>
>>52658640
Oh shit my bad didnt see the FO requirement

Disregard my fake news

Burning Star Satellites: Although they have been unable to build their own extraplanetary facilities yet, the Rodina Stellar Authority has been able to seed Dawn’s orbit with a ring of defensive satellites. Named the Burning Star in honour of the old Roving Star program which had once seen the
colony launch their first planetary satellite network, these rail gun phalanxes compensate for their lack of advanced technology by adherence to a classic Ariadnan combat doctrine: firing an absurd number of metal slugs per minute.

99% of the time it just means they glued monofilament wire right to the edge. Hint: it doesn't change shit.

CA or Tohaa or Haqqislam

Sup MRRF bro?

Are you a fellow MRRF noob?

Is this your shit-i-wanna-buy list?

Or is this your shit-i-already-have list?

Why no FO Chasseur? Is this not for ITS?

Why no Metros? Cheap camo token spam

Why no DEPs? They are a great thing

Why only one Zouave? They seem like they would be most effective to Mech deploy in a group.
>>
>>52664441
Sell me on CA, please.

Damn dirty apes, creepy gene splicers (Watch Species), and other weirder alien shit, all lorded over Alien AI Satan.

>>52664211
am not sure if a 1 order hmg is a good thing. Maybe make him a sniper ?
>>

I tried, but they won't buy. Something about substandard product.
>>
>>52664591
Glorious Evolved Intelligence will bring humanity to space enlightenment, but only after a vicious hazing session.
>>
>>52664211
Swap Zouave with one of the minelayers. HMGs need orders, if you're using it as a defensive piece you might as well take the sniper.
>>
>>52664575
Sup, been playing for a while.

This is for the mission front line (ITS rules p 28) You know, the one where you claim territory horizontally. anyway.

Plan is for the chasseurs to hold the middle ground with the zouave, who will bunker down and suppress. Anaconda will be the spearhead to clear an area so that the paracommandoes can come in, with the briscards defending the deployment zone until they're needed to push up and take out targets of opportunity, where they'll act as a hunter/killer team.
>>
>>52664766
I think you might have trouble against HI paintrains, a Jotun list, or lots of camo, but other than that it seems legit.
>>
>>52664629
Still better than SJW gypsies on spaceships and "golden age" we-wuz-explorers-and-shit muslims.

Can Onyx Sectorial be a good start for a newcomer? I dont like the look of human units, especially Nomads.
