like, realistically, how often is the GM gonna have people glue themselves to me to prevent casting? it can't be worth it to invest heavily into concentration when going first has the potential to let me end the whole fight before it even begins with some stupid shit like color spray

Concentration should be covered well enough by min-maxing your casting stat, but if you're really worried just take Combat Casting. Most times, a 5-foot step *should* be enough to buy you room to cast.

Generally speaking, Crossbow or Archery style works about as well as you need it to be depending on what firearm you pick.

Grit honestly isn't worth it without some feat for more deeds if you only have Amateur Gunslinger and the only other feat you need outside of those is Gunsmithing.

So im about to play with a GM who has a house rule that says "anyone standing up from prone no longer is subject to an attack of opportunity" I've discussed with him on how this is bad and takes away one of the few semi-viable things martial can do. He has agreed to see sample characters that might abuse his ruling, so can you guys make any suggestions that might abuse this rule? I'm not gonna play them but he did agree to run a sample combat and read the builds. Pathfindee core and advanced/ultimate books all allowed.
Please help me convince him to let me attack people getting up from prone.

Just go human and take both at first level. You'll never regret it when you DO finally need to make a concentration check. Like just last session my GMhad two large creatures in a small area and I had to make concentration checks to cast defensively for each spell. Besides Shocking Grasp on a Magus I can't really think of anything in particular I'd stick Intensify on. I mean, Magic Missile, if the DM lets me and I'm trying to be cool with it, I guess. But I don't tend to use a lot of Metamagic. I suppose if I were a blaster mage I might want an Intensify Rod but I don't see myself ever taking the feat. I'd want something like Sickening Spell instead, but maybe I'm just not blasty enough at heart.

Yes, but only if it says (D) in the duration. That stands for dismissable. It takes a standard action to dismiss your own spell, for some damn reason. I think there's a feat to do it as a free or maybe swift action. Come to think of it, I think it's actually a metamagic feat. Fleeting Spell, or something of the sort? It's trash, in any case.

I should know what I'm talking about. I myself commissioned a genuine dolphin in Vanaheim for 2,400,000 g (that's about 2,400,000 silver) and have been practicing with it for almost 2 years now. I can even pierce slabs of solid steel with my dolphin.

Vanaheim smiths spend years training a single dolphin and fold it up to a million times to produce the finest creatures known to mankind.

Dolphins are thrice as sharp as Wasserheim whales and thrice as hard for that matter too. Anything a whale can cut through, a dolphin can cut through better. I'm pretty sure a dolphin could easily bisect a paladin wearing full plate with a simple vertical slash.

Ever wonder why Titana never bothered conquering Undine? That's right, she was too scared to fight the disciplined dolphins and their techniques of destruction. Even before the great cataclysm, southern fey targeted the dolphins first because their killing power was feared and respected.

So what am I saying? Dolphins are simply the best summon that the world has ever seen, and thus, require better stats in the d20 system. Here is the stat block I propose for Dolphins:

Compare the Cavalier to the Slayer, Unchained Monk, and Vigilante. Compare the Magus to the Warpriest and Occultist. Compare the Wizard to the Arcanist and the Sorcerer to the Oracle.

I know it's not 100% true, but I'd rather play some of the later classes than any of the earlier classes. There are some stinkers in the later releases (Swashbuckler, Shaman, Kineticist) but overall, I think Paizo has actually gotten somewhat better at making classes.

Generally speaking I think the hybrid classes are fucking great. Strong class identity but a decent amount of options, where they do fail I think it's generally Paizo's refusal to hire someone who knows math, but as far as design goes I love them.

I actually kind of dislike how wide Vigilante is in the ground it covers. I mean mechanically it plays well but the lack of focus bothers me, beyond the identity gimmick which you can easily ignore, it's rough pinning what the class is meant to be.

I mean, Mesmerist and Spiritualist are alright in my books. Medium is on the weaker side of things but is no weaker than, say, a Paladin, and it DOES scale up pretty seriously in power once you look at the Hierophant and Archmage. On the Psychic and Kineticist, they're the two stinkers. Psychic is just Sorcerer reskinned and Kineticist is... should have been better.

I'd say half the hybrid classes work. The Arcanist is the only one of the full casters I might actually play, if only because it seems more fun than a Wizard. Bloodrager is Barbarian+, Brawler does Non-Lawful Monk decently enough for me, Hunter is what Ranger /should/ have been, Investigator is an Alchemist without the hassle, Slayer is honestly just fun to play and IT JUST WORKS.

The two ones that aren't the greatest, Hunter and Warpriest, are only that way because they're better described as "Druid/Cleric with better class features and worse spell lists". If we rebalanced the Cleric and Druid to not also be face-smashers, then Hunter and Warpriest would actually have their own niche.
