Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games. Kickstarter is happening NOW we are kicking ass baby!

Call of the Void: Ballad of the Laser Whales is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

MEGA folder containing current version of the game and all supplementary materials.
Note that the latest version of the game is v1.9.9 but with additional supplements. It's NOT what's currently on Opaque's website, because Jimmy is Jimmy.

Here's a wiki detailing SoS's fantasy setting, getting filled up bit by bit as Jimmy reveals more details:
http://tattered-realms.wikia.com/wiki/Tattered_Realms_Wiki

There's also a roll20 room where new players are encouraged to try the rules, test new rules, and find game breaking issues: https://app.roll20.net/join/346755/hRKd4w
If you're looking to learn, post here in the thread. We also play Guy Windsor's card game Audatia in the room.

>>52366631
Bylat!

You crawl through the wheat, slowly, slowly, Lyosha and Dmitri following in your wake. It seems to take an eternity, but soon you're close to the house. You're rising to a crouch, bringing your rifle up, when a shot rings out from one of the windows!
>>
>>52366724
The shot cracks past, barely missing you, as shouts come from inside the house! The man you left in the ditch behind you yells, firing back at the window, hoping to pin down the shooter.

You have two options here, turn tail and hopefully don't get shot in the back, or sprint to the door and hopefully don't get shot on the way into the house.
>>
>>52366784
Rush the door.
>>
>>52366848
Seconding. Do we have grenades?

Also, better repost the sheet, new thread and all (and I forgot shit last time).

So that's a Level 4 wound to the Chest (Non-Vitals), and Level 4 to the Abdomen. Painful.

Your deep, throaty, URAAAAA is cut short by the chatter of the tiny machine pistol, and by the bullets passing through your chest. Your battle cry turns to a croak, and you lose your footing, your momentum carrying you to the feet of the gunman. You're bleeding out, fading fast, staying conscious only long enough to hear the man reload his weapon, the empty magazine falling into your rapidly darkening field of vision.

You don't hear the last gun shot.

If Khop didn't have some sort of secret deal brokered I would say jimmy should make a magical bronze khopesh. It gives dumbass bonuses to beating, hooking, and willpower(Khop is hope). But it constantly chants "Beat the Blade, Hook the Leg, Beat the Blade, Hook the leg" 24/7 365 to whomever is it's owner causing them to suffer terrible perception penalties as they are distracted and maybe willpower tests to not go insane.

Why is /sos/ the only thread on /tg/ where the /pol/acks are chill instead of huge faggots? It's like we've somehow attracted this perfect storm of communists, nazis and lolbertarians who just don't care about ideology as long as they can stab people in the dick.

If America were /sos/ we'd have a base on the moon already.
>>
>>52373952
I think it's because nobody feels disenfranchised. Opaque is actually diverse, Jimmy is this borderline fascist right-winger, Bones is black, Claymore is almost an SJW, but you see them talking in the interviews and they're almost joking about it. It's like a game for them. If the guys upstairs don't hate each other, why should we? We butt heads sometimes but this is literally a thread full of historians. We're all here to have fun. Other threads have problems because people come there looking for fights. We don't have that problem because we've got the most extreme people in every group watching each others' backs.

We're like a Hydra, with each head being a political ideology. We can't get rid of each other so we've learned to coexist, and if some niggerfaggots like MYFAROG or vanilla SJW-ism want to start shit, they're going to fight the entire beast every time. Communists and Fascists and Democrats fighting side by side in defense of dickstabs.

/sos/ is Third Position. Let the commies heft their cudgels. Let the fascists sharpen their knives. We're fucking historians. We'll fight you all at once and we'll win.

I don't feel like I've really shifted politically.
I think the mainstream just went super Far Left

and that Demo/Repubs are all on the same corporate side pushing and pulling for benefits, ruling over us with retarded emotionally charged wedge issues
>>
>>52374163
>>52374131
I feel I've come to terms with the fact that in my heart of hearts I will always be a a bit of a fascist and a totalitarian but I'm also trying to reconcile that with the fact I'll never be supportive of violent revolution and all the terrible baggage and risk it brings. My reaction has oddly enough to become incredibly enthusiastic about the mechanisms of democracy, far more so than most of my much more liberal friends who lose their collective shit when a vote doesn't go their way.
>>
>>52374163
I agree. The whole system is corrupted by an international clique of bankers and capitalists. I don't think anyone on the Right or Left seriously disagrees with this point.

The question is how you interpret this truth. That's really the question facing our generation. We know the situation, now how do we deal with it?

I'm honestly glad that people are being so rational about this. This could've gotten ugly fast, instead its going at a reasonable pace. You look at how Jimmy gets sometimes when he talks politics, it's fucking scary. From live and let live to KILL EVERYONE, SMASH THEIR TEETH OUT in one sentence.

Cooler heads seem to be prevailing.
>>
>>52374163
>I think the mainstream just went super Far Left

It might be hard to put a traditional political direction to full retard, but even so, you think Szydło, Brexit and Trump are all on the left hand side of things?

Time for a bit more antabus in your diet.
>>
>>52374267
If you view those things as reactionary movements, then it makes sense. I think that's a fair assessment. The "Left" completely lost touch with what people actually want, and we're now seeing the backlash.

The exact same thing happened to the Right a few years ago. Even more embarrassing desu since they normally think of themselves as the "down to earth" groups. Remember how cringeworthy Romney was? Oh fuck it hurts just remembering it.

The leadership of all but the most populist groups have lost touch with their voter base. And the populist groups are only populist because they want power, not because they care about the people they preach to. Our lifespans have become too long, and the only people in a position to take power are 70+ while the most numerous voter groups are under 40. Sanders at least seems to be honest, as honest as a politician can get. He's still a dirty motherfucker, but one that I can at least respect. We need more people to die, and that is why I am pro choice, anti vax, pro war and also gas the non-whites race war now

Ehh... I'm not sure I think they might just be framing it from a perspective, it reads a lot like Jimmy's "Becoming a Marju raider" section from the subreddit.
>>
>>52374793
Link to the redd quote?
>>
>>52374813
Well it is true that if you're looking for an "enemy" of course you can find one. A Dacian trying to carve out a homestead on the steppe is going to see the Marju as a threat to his family, his livelihood, his way of life. But the Marju see the Dacians the same way.
Imagine if you will that you are a pastoral tribesman of the Wolf's Head clan. Your people, since before the distant sunrise of the dawn of history, have lived in this land. These grassy fields, these endless hills, the roving cattle, the wild horses, it's your land. Your peoples' land.
Now from the South come the Dacians. These people with their bright green eyes and false smiles, they come with guns and wagons and they say "we live here now," and they start building walls.
Walls! In your land! You have never had walls before. Their towns suddenly spring up across the land. They tell you that you--YOU--are no longer welcome here. This is their land now. They start tearing up the dirt and planting crops there. They start growing corn on your pastures. They start shooting people for trespassing and demand that you show them your "papers." What the hell is a paper? Why should you have them? Who are these people!?
Congratulations, you're now a Marju Raider, a villain, a bandit. The Dacians organize armies of thugs, their "Fighting Volkodavs" in their soulless dog-faced helmets with their guns and sabers, and they come to kill you. For what? For defending what is yours? For defending the birthright of your people from these pillaging weasels who come to ruin the virgin land that your kind has dwelt on since the world began?
There are two sides to every story, but the PCs in your campaign will only get to see one side. That doesn't mean the other side doesn't exist. That's what SoS is all about. If you played a campaign from the other side, your cause would feel just as righteous. The interests of nations collide, and most of the people caught in the middle are innocent.

This analysis makes perfect sense though. The middle east has literally never been weaker in 1200 years, it is at is millenium long nadir. The lack of a caliph is a historical oddity, the level of fragmentation hasn't been a thing since basically the original conquests, they are drowning in poverty and endless conflict and there are people who can be specifcally blamed for this problem - the westerners who carved up the place and just randomly dug out a new country and the outsiders who it seems not a day goes by without them supporting one group or another, obstensibly for peace but more obviously for their own interests. In the end the goal of ISIS, Taliban, Al-Queda etc. are all the same. If you want peace in the area the most efficient method of making it happen is literally just to stop stirring shit.
>>
>>52379273

I feel like a lot of people who think it's just this literally believe that the West straight-up fucking steals oil from the Middle East. Like, believe that we actually take it by force without recompense.

So a Halberd with the Weapon Queue (what even is that btw) and Reverse Spike attatchments has access to Armor Piercing, Thin Blade, Crushing, Hook and Heavy Weapon, as well as doing 3 base damage and having VL reach and a decent parry TN. Am I understanding this correctly? Is it THAT versatile? It seems to be only held back by a small list of maneuvers but it gets some really good ones like Hook and Disarm so idk. Sell me on a Zweihander because I want it to be better, I really do

>>
>>52381187
Why not? Damage treshold for Polearms is 10 or 12.
It's not unreasonable especially when that was it's historic use.
>>
>>52381302
The historicality of that use is debatable, at best. It was a banner defence weapon, capable of fighting multiple opponents at once.
Even so cutting the shaft in one strike is pretty much, polearm shafts aren't any flimsy stick, they are proper poles of durable wood. Have you ever struck a proper piece of wood, in an angle, lenghtwise?
>>
>>52381302
Okay new question. Since Break ignores reach costs (cause fuck getting past the head of a polearm to actually reach its shaft) why would you ever use them? Ever? A fucking dagger could cut a halberd in half if they just beat you before breaking
>>
>>52381528
Dagger wouldn't generate as much damage as a bigger weapon, plus I guess I could rule that it would be susceptible to breaking itself since it also has 12 durability. Also its light blade so maybe I'd house rule it to increase it's tn for the purpse of break, or just outright ban this use of it?
Tl; dr idk, here is either housruling or just following that rule which says to disregard anything tht doesn't make sense, yet still is technically legitimate.

If the average American food is mac and cheese, then the average Chinese food is dog cooked in sewer oil. You can't compare disproportionately shitty mass produced food to fine cuisine and vice versa.

The most British thing I can think of is a full breakfast. Full breakfasts are so good that they've spread across the world.

The most American think I can think of is a cheeseburger. A good cheeseburger is nothing to scoff at. Maybe a bit unoriginal but it's not BAD by any means.

You know, anything can look bad if you choose the shittiest version of it. I mean just look at the Russian national dish: Nothing! Starvation is way worse than McDonalds.

Stand by for lore Jimmy refuses to post in the thread.

Gizka isn't the leader because she's good at fighting on foot. She isn't even the leader because she's good at fighting. She's the leader because she's good at tactics. Cavalry tactics involving units beneath the 10k level. But more because nobody can do what she does. Coordinate large groups of men very effectively. Jerzy Korczak and King are both theoretically better fighters than her, but neither could lead an army as well as she could. I'd have to run some tests... I think Sedeas might also be as good.

“Did Gizka learn this skill or is she a natural?”
Learned. She started commanding troops when she was 14. She just got better and better at it.
Now she's 28. There is nobody better at commanding cavalry than Sarah Gizka. Kal'Ceska might be AS good.
Maybe.
She holds two boat whistles in her mouth while she rides, and her officers are trained in a sort of whistle-language. They can exchange orders and updates in real time. I think I've mentioned this before. You know those whistles that look like dog dicks? That's her secret. That and the rats. The cavalry can operate on a whole new level compared to their opponents.
>>
>>52390697
“Who is the greatest strategic mind of Vosca?”
It depends what scale you're talking. The best commander of a single army is probably Clovis. The second oldest Paladin. The best strategic leader overall is Tychus Abuslav. By a mile. Gizka is like Rommel. Clovis is Montgomery. Tychus is Eisenhauer.

Tychus’s shtick is that he's a guy who grew up knowing he would never have power.
Because his brother is fucking Ratko Abuslav. Ornstein. War-God. There are two "Tiger Generals" in history who fill the slot. Bojan Abuslav, the first Abuslav, and Ratko. Bojan was more of a brute. He was well-meaning and noble, but ultimately he was only good at killing people. Ratko is something else. He's SO good at killing people that he's basically not human anymore. He's mentally ill. He's not a person he's a monster. Tychus had to grow up next to this guy. He had to watch his brother, a sweet, caring young man, turn into a fucking monster. And he knows that he's just as bad. But his powers are in a different direction. So Tychus is sort of like a 4chan troll, except instead of rekking people on twitter he destroys entire countries
>>
>>52390719
“Why’d Ratko become a monster?”
Part of it was their dad. Their father had 48 children. The only two remaining alive are Ratko and Tychus. And the girls. But they don't count. These kids were raised in the most nightmarish environment possible. The only reason Tychus AND Ratko are still alive is that Tychus killed their dad before he could make them fight to the death. Which, to be fair, is more or less what their father wanted. He was paranoid. Obsessed with the idea that Tenja would be attacked and that only the best could hold it. Tychus was able to game the system to kill his own father before he could be made to fight his invincible war-god brother. But because his brother was still an invincible war-god, he inherited the county.

I'm actually writing a book right now about Bojan. The first Abuslav. And I really want it to paint the picture for how all of this started. How did this psychotic family end up in control of this fortress. The question is really, how did this not happen earlier.

For 120 years the Abuslav family has held the fortress.. When Bojan took control, cannons were a new technology. So it was like the 1300s. Tenja has a cannon on its tallest tower that is suspended by chains from the mountains on either side. It's so big that if it were mounted in the tower itself, it would shake it apart after two or three shots. So they have it hanging by gigantic chains within the tower, extending out to the pass's cliff faces. Somewhere during this siege, Bojan ends up in control of the fortress, and then finds Hladnavrata after he loses everything. His love interest, his friends, his comrades, all he has left is anger and pain. And he finds a poleaxe that eats emotions.
>>
>>52390734
“What is the power dynamic between Tychus and Ratko?”
Ratko only cares about killing people and keeping the army strong. Tychus does everything else. He's his seneschal. Tychus knows he can get away with a lot, but he recognizes that Ratko could literally fight the entire royal guard to get to him and kill him. Like, betrayal isn't an option. The guy sleeps in orichalcum armor.

“Does Ratko even care about killing people? In the Niko fecht he seemed pretty disinterested.”
He's just come to terms with it. Besides, it's not such a bad arrangement. Ratko doesn't feel anything. He hasn't felt anything since he touched the poleaxe. He feeds new emotions into the axe as soon as he gets them. All he has left is emotions that he can't articulate. So he can feel sexual frustration and bitterness, because he's too stupid to feed them into the axe. He's a really tragic individual. A truly miserable person.

“What’s his goal? Does he just sit in his fort because he doesn’t feel like dying?”
Precisely. Goals are for people who want things. Ratko doesn't want anything. Want was the first thing he got rid of. He's a stupid violent monster asshole who hates everything--especially himself--and does his job so that people will stop talking to him. He spends his days sitting alone in his room staring at a bowl of water, because the only thing he can't eliminate from himself is his ability to notice patterns in water. He doesn't fear loneliness, misery or suffering anymore. He got rid of those, and the desire to end his life, early on. Killing himself would require effort, and fear of continuing living. Of course, he got rid of that fast. Those are easy to put into words.
>>
>>52390751
“Does this mean the Abuslav line will end with him because he is too autistic to have children?”
The Abuslav clan doesn't really work by primogeniture, any Abuslav kid is eligible for the Count's role. But Ratko will probable have kids. He did fuck that Zell after all. He hasn't gotten rid of those desires. If he doesn't, than Tychus will.

“How old are Tychus and Ratko?”
Ratko is 17. Tychus is 23. They're kids. Ratko you can't tell because he's fucking huge and wears scary armor all the time.

“So, Ratko totally got rid of his emotions because it was shitty teenage angst. He’d be the school shooter.”
Hey, if we'd had magic poleaxes, we'd have done it too. But it can't be undone. I mean, he was allowed to kill everyone he grew up with. The Abuslavs encourage violence. If someone bullies you and you stab them to death with a screwdriver, you get rewarded. You'll be really good at defending the Gate.
"Ratko, did you murder your brother?"
"Plural. I also killed Boris."
"Thataboy."

“They are quite literally Abuse Slavs.”
That was the joke. Their dad was like Gendo Ikari if he were even worse. Instead of a giant robot he gave his kids a fortress full of Slavs. Put on the fucking Tiger Helmet Ratko. I bought you a Zellgirl and a penguin. It was a zellgirl WITH a penguin. And she's an alcoholic. I've done more for you than any father would be expected to. Now put on the fucking helmet, pick up your magic fucking polearm, and go fight the mongols.
>>
>>52390772
“What are the odds of Tychus taking over the entire country?”
He probably won't. It'd be too much work to run it. And Duke Ravensburg is not a retard, he knows Tychus is dangerous. He's limited the guy's influence by forbidding people to invite him to parties. Tychus knows this, and so he's mostly concerned with perpetuating his own comfy lifestyle.

“Did Tychus get his own Zellslut / Penguin combo deal?”
Sort of. Ratko doesn't use any of the recreational funds his position affords him because he's autistic as fuck. He just sits in his room all day staring at water. Tychus spends all of the money on hookers and blow since it would go to waste otherwise. He's pretty cool with the arrangement. Tychus gets to screw around all the time and have fun, Ratko doesn't have to deal with anything except hitting people in the face with his poleaxe. They're both content with the arrangement. There is an understanding on some level that sooner or later they'll have to kill each other though. Tychus will get bored, or Ratko will start feeling something he can't sell away. When that happens, they both have plans to take the other out. Neither thinks they will win. Ratko's plan is just to walk in a straight line to Tychus and then stab him to death. Tychus's plan is to collapse the keep on Ratko, blow up the powder stores, and then hire an army of mercenaries to kill every living thing that emerges from the rubble.
>>
>>52390793
“Wait, so to sell a feeling to the poleaxe you need to put it into words?”
You can't sell something you don't know you own. The axe can "take" something if you don't articulate a real offering. But Ratko is a very methodical person. He doesn't leave things up to chance. It would never occur to him to do so. So he has a list, mentally, of things he's willing to sell. Think of him as a child who has been abused so many times, and so thoroughly that he has internalized it. He can't imagine a world where he is happy. Happiness doesn't exist. All he has is misery and nonexistence. Nirvana and Hell. He finds the former in meditation, by watching water drip into a bowl. Everything else is a nightmare of negative emotion. He just wants to escape it. His rare victories are fleeting. Like his tryst with Matoko Maloko, the Zell girl he bedded in that tavern. That was when he was 14. He didn't really know what sex was yet. Nobody had taught him. He got to experience that without anyone else's fingers in his head. And he hasn't washed that away. He still holds onto it. That memory is pure.

“Anything to report on monster rules?”
Nothing yet. Though we're doing good work on Skeletons. As in, skeletons that can combine with each other to form mega-skeletons. Skeletons should be terrifying. You should see an army of skeletons and think "FUCK" not "oh free xp"

“Are there really skeleton wheels?”
Yes.
Anything can be reanimated. Undead whales crawling around, using their own ribcages as legs. Like giant rotting centipedes. These used to be an extinction event, fortunately these days people have cannons. Worst case scenario you pay the local Glade to send a helicopter with rocket pods.

“If a Helian loses its eyes can it still shoot lasers?”
It doesn't have to be eyes. Some shoot the laser from their mouths. Or fingers. Eyes are just easiest because looking at something is very accurate.

“Can they shoot lasers through staves or other implements?”
Totally. In fact, making a wand or stave that amplifies the effect would be easy. Magestone lenses. Spectacles would work too.

And that sums it up. I'm sure I'm missing something, but there it is. I for one welcome our Din overlords with attack helicopters and spyglass sniper rifles.

Dude it's in the Bible. It's from the whole "hey I'm going to wrestle God into submission and force him to bless me" thing. God taps Jacob/Israel in the hollow between the hip and leg, and that's (supposedly) why Jews can't eat that tendon.

Nope, but I have had BBQ pulled pork ;)

I hate it. Pulled pork is easily the worst pork.

Hey, you know what is good now I think about it? Char siu pork. But that's only because they drown it in sauce, and that's about it.

Okay you gotta be trolling now friend.

>that Bronze Age Mad Max SoS idea yesterday
I began to write a short intro for the fecht, then it became fanfic. Heres what I had

The fortress oasis of Opakkad, stood in the middle of a sparse drop of green; a vast sea of sand seemed to encroach from every direction. He saw that, in the light, especially clear that morning, as he casually glanced from the top-floor balcony of his tall, many-stepped ziggurat-palace. It seemed to him in that afterglow of a moment that it; no, that HE was the very center of a world.
Slave-servant bowed down, disrupting his contemplation for a moment, and presented him with the brazen drink-horn. The rancid, metallic smell of the “Chymistry Poultice” as always irritated his nose. He already could feel the distinct tingle on his tongue, silent rejection of the very notion that the brew was drinkable. He knew he needed it though, after last night; that it would help him focus, and fulfill the task he must perform.
The taste was ever worse, and no mater what he couldn’t brace for it. Yet the effect remained strong as ever, and he felt as his consciousness instantly contracted, and then returned with the spew of vomit hitting the floor .
Now, quickly sobering, he focused his sight, and took notice that a pair of slaves, was about to finish tieing up the leather lacing on his bronze greaves. They both seemed oblivious of the multicolored barf which splashed in between of them, abundantly spattering on their loincloth covered bodies and cleanly shaved, tattooed heads. They didn’t even flinch, just hurrying tried to erase the spots that landed on the greaves . They knew their place.
He chuckled slightly, and when the slaves were done, he raised his arms, still sitting; so that he could don his coat of metal scales.
Gilded, it looked magnificent as it reflected the rays of the slowly rising sun. It has been said that it was magical, and no arrow and no spear would penetrate it. At that moment it certainly looked the part.
>>
>>52390941
part deux where I lost interest.
Also great that the formating doesn't work...

Next came the vambraces of bronze, adorned with casts of human-like faces; and then the pauldrons, made likewise, from cast bands of adorned metal.
A mask attached to skullcap, marvelously cast in the likeness of a maw of a wild beast, has been lowered onto his head, and then a covering helmet with a high crest.
He stood up, and his head spun.
Before he could falter two pairs of strong hands picked him up, and the slaves began to attach the skirt of segmented tassets.
When his head cleared up, again, he chose from a number of weapons presented to him. With a smirk, invisible under the mask , he chose a beautiful, small khopesh, carved entirely from ivory. Gift from a true connoisseur.
Jimboziah, colloquially known by the populace as Father Jimbu, or Jimu-Jam when they thought no one could hear; was ready.
He was ready in both his now sober mind and in his bronze-armoured body. He stood, and in this moment he was that world god at the center of universe, he half-dereamed about in a drunken stupor, mere few moments ago.
Of course he was, as the Welder of MIG - The “He who joins together the Great Metal Bird of the Skies” he has been the singer of the Sword Song in Tiji among the land of four chans; the valley of Rettid and now beyond even that. Finally he was into the tithe of Kiksarte.
He took one, not all that firm step, and then began the walk towards his awaiting satraps.

Hey guys, I saw the email about the kickstarter and had a question.

Is this just stuff that is extra, or is it stuff included in the pledges? Also, if I didn't pledge the extra amount in the first place is it still possible to up it? I never saw anything about this extra stuff.

How unbalanced would it be for one of the guys in my SoS group to play a WW2 soldier from the futur who has a modern rifle but only a handful of rounds with him? The idea is that he would slowly learn to use a sword (taught by another party member) while sparingly using his rifle until he ran out of ammo and had to ditch it. Who fucking knows how he got sent back in time tho.
>>
>>52397255
Well, he can pretty much fuck anyone as long as he has ammo left.
Though if he starts with 0 melee skill profiencies then he'll be really really shit before after he runs out of ammo.

>>52397284

>>
>>52397284
My plan is to let him become an archer after he runs out of ammo, by letting him spend a few AP to "convert" his proficiency over the course of a few in game weeks to a missile prof of his choice
>>
>>52397445
Thanks for the clarification on the queue. Would pugilism be enough until he trained with a sword or would he get fucked up?
>>
>>52397646

>>
>>52396535
It just means you get to fine-tune exactly what you get. Say you only wanted the PDF and a map of Vosca. Instead of going all the way to gamemaster plus, you'd just get the PDF and pay an extra six dollars for the map.

If you've already got a pledge level which includes these things (say, gm+) then you don't need to tick any of those boxes.

I have a player who really wants to play Fetchlings or something very similar, as a Tier 2 (maybe 3) race If I make them Tier 3 then they"ll need more buffs AND some penalties. Don't worry, it's not for the Tattered Realms.

How can I expand on them or make them different, mechanically and fluff wise from PF Fetchlings?

So far I took the abilities I thought I could translate from PF ( http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-fetchling/ ) into SoS.

Tenebrae
>See in Shadow — When in low-light conditions, Tenebrae treat each stage of Lighting as one step less severe on the table, because of their excellent eyesight in the dark (i.e. Pitch Black becomes Poorly Lit, Poorly Lit becomes Dimly Lit, and Dimly Lit becomes Evenly Lit). However, they cannot see colors when in the dark.
>Shadow Blending: Enemies take -2 Combat/Missile Pool when targeting you in when you're in Dimly Lit, Poorly Lit or in Pitch Black environments.
>Skilled: +1 bonus on Stealth checks.
>Shadowy Resistance: -1 damage from Cold and Electricity damage.
>>
>>52399135
I'm not sure why you'd want to make Fetchlings a Tier 2 race, they're explicitly very badly put together beings, they should probably have a dex penalty. Maybe access to Bite or Gore if we had that manoeuvres depending on what parts they have.

Quick question regarding combat:

Let's say you're being attacked, and as a response, you "steal initiative".
Assuming you win, what happens next?
Do you immediately take the hit that was aimed at you, or do you get to declare your own attack that resolves first?

I'm just a little bit shaky on that one.
>>
>>52402537
You get to declare your own attack first. If it was the other thing it would be perfectly pointless.
>>
>>52402537
You get to declare and resolve your own attack first. Of course you'd better do something good with it because then the other guy's attack still resolves.
>>
>>52397255
Play Degenisis
>>
>>52402537
How it works is:
1)Player with Initiative declares maneuvers
2)Player without Initiative declares maneuvers
3)Resolve maneuvers in Initiative order

Steal Initiative is declared in step 2 and its goal is to swap who's who when it comes time for step 3.

Note that you COULD Steal Initiative without doing anything else, but there's almost no point in doing so. The only way I can conceive of it being useful is if you count on them missing an attack, and you want to have initiative, but don't want you defend yourself.
>>
Does succeeding a Defensive Clinch with 0BS initiate a Grapple?
If you Total Block and suffer a Hew, or even just in general, does the AV of the shield reduce the Hew damage?
If two characters both declare Simultaneous Defense/Attacks at each other, who takes the initiative if both attacks succeed? If both defenses succeed? Where does the Reach end up?
>>
>>52404110
>Does succeeding a Defensive Clinch with 0BS initiate a Grapple?
Yes
>If you Total Block and suffer a Hew, or even just in general, does the AV of the shield reduce the Hew damage?
No, AV helps damage to the body. Hew does not do damage to the body. This is why one of the proper responses to a Total Block is to Feint into a Hew or Hook.
>If two characters both declare Simultaneous Defense/Attacks at each other, who takes the initiative if both attacks succeed? If both defenses succeed? Where does the Reach end up?
Attacks resolve in initiative order. Defenses always resolve with the attacks they were declared against. If fighter Red has initiative and fighter Yellow does not, and they both simultaneous defend/attack each other, then first you resolve Red's, and then you resolve Yellow's. You do them one at a time.
If both attacks succeed, Yellow has initiative, because his attack came afterwards. The fight would be at the reach of Yellow's attack for the next Action.
If both defenses succeed, Red would have initiative (unless his defense says otherwise, like if he Voided and only got 1 BS), because Yellow's attack came last.
>>
>>52404231
It just seems strange that a shield's AV offers itself no protection. A steak knife will struggle to penetrate a breastplate, but you can use one to fucking cut a buckler in half.
Shields are pretty fragile in the game right now.
>>
>>52404288
Yes, shields are made of paper. Break is retarded, Hew is retarded. It seems Jimmy took the generic statements "well you CAN break a spear, well you CAN break a shield", made maneuvers for them, and ended up with things being unrealistically fragile.

Does Constricts Breathing apply fatigue before or after the Encumberance multiplier?
>>
>>52405900
After. Restricts Breathing adds to the multiplier. So if you're lightly fatigued and have restricts breathing 2:
1x normal * 1.5x light fatigue = 1.5x
1.5x + 2 restricts breathing = 3.5x fatigue gain per round
Don't round that number, it's okay to have fractional fatigue gain.

You declare an Attack and a Steal Initiative. Technically, Steal Initiative is something you declare separate to your actual manuever but with the same timing. Someone who is pretty much the Ubermensch with amazing levels of sword training could a Simul Thrust/Block using a rapier and targe splitting the dice [2]10/10 and a Steal Initiative for [4] costing a total of 26 dice. Both combatants then resolve the init test as written in Steal Initiative and then the say our 7 PER Ubermenschen wins naturally his attack would resolve first UNLESS the guy who just lost initiative declares a Steal Initiative to try take it back
